Ch. 34: Mi shōdaku no yoha

At Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, Kizakura was seen looking haggard (in an exaggerated manner) as he managed to finish the paperwork and wondered what has happened to Jin, as the time now is 01:30, and he felt that something bad may have happened at the police station as this has never happened before, and wondered if things have been settled or if the situation escalated further.

Suddenly, Jin came back and he thanked Kizakura for looking after things here while he is gone, and there Kizakura raised an eyebrow upon seeing Naegi and Kibo, and there Jin told Kizakura what went on and what the headmaster's decision is, which Kizakura was quite surprised upon hearing what Jin said just now – the hostile main course students would be expelled, their parents and lawyers would be charged for bribery and that Naegi is set to be transferred to the main course department.

"Whoa, whoa…"

"You heard it, Kizakura."

"Seriously…?"

"Yes. Naegi is due to be transferred to the main course department."

"Whoa…that went well…"

"It wasn't easy…but we persevered…"

"Heh…then this leaves one more obstacle…"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, the Steering Committee members barges in, having heard what Jin said and made their objections clear, saying that Naegi has no right to be transferred to the main course department and even said that the hostile main course students were victims of circumstances and ordered the headmaster to exert efforts in securing the hostile main course students' release from custody at all costs.

"I implore you! Release the main course students!"

"Do it!"

However, Jin stood his ground and told the Steering Committee members that he will not do as they say, reiterating that the hostile main course students brought this onto themselves and they will have to face the consequences of their actions, and said that the hostile main course students are being booked and if the Steering Committee members want to bail them out, they will have to speak to the police chief about it.

This didn't sit well with the Steering Committee members, and they threatened to have Jin removed from his position as headmaster, though Kizakura scoffed at the threat, which earned the ire of the committee members, but Kizakura said that if word gets out that Jin is being deposed just to have the hostile main course students released from custody and continue to study here, the witnesses who exposed the hostile main course students' misdeeds would go out in public and expose the Steering Committee members for trying to manipulate the outcome of the case.

"…and that's that. Want that to happen…? Though I don't see a problem with that…"

"How dare you…"

"So then…what'll it be…? Stop meddling in this case…? Or are you still going to meddle just to appease those rich parents because they are this academy's sponsor…? Your funeral…"

"Why you…"

To make matters worse for the Steering Committee members, Byakuya Togami entered the principal's room, holding his smartphone and showed to them the footage he recorded just now, and said that one simple press of a button and the police chief would receive it, thus giving him reason to have the Steering Committee members arrested and charged for obstruction.

Moreover, if this gets out into the public, the Steering Committee members would be shamed publicly and they would have difficulty in finding other jobs, surprising the Steering Committee members as Togami made them choose between leaving the case and Naegi alone or go ahead with their plans to have the hostile main course students released from police custody.

"So then, gentlemen…are you still insisting on interfering…?"

"You…"

"Damn…"

"What are you…"

"If I were you…I'd leave Naegi alone and let the case take its course…it's your choice."

"Togami…"

"Have you sold yourself to that lowly reserve course student…?"

"Did he bribed you…?"

Seconds later, Maizono, Asahina, Ohgami and Ishimaru entered the principal's room, and said the same thing as they gave the Steering Committee members an ultimatum, making them choose between leaving Naegi alone or side with the hostile main course students who are currently in police custody, putting the Steering Committee members in a compromising situation.

"Listen up, you corrupt businessmen! We won't let you have your way! Makoto Naegi is a student of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy! Though a reserve course student, he has a right for a chance to be scouted and transferred to the main course department! So you have no right obstructing him!"

"Naegi earned the right!"

"And the main course students who harassed him have exposed themselves…hence you cannot vouch for them!"

"So stop harassing the headmaster and leave Naegi alone! If you keep on insisting we will go public and expose your misdeeds! So choose!"

"Damn…"

"These kids…"

"That reserve course brat has INFECTED them…"

"Grr…"

Pressured and left with no choice, the Steering Committee members were MORALLY defeated and quietly leave the principal's room, and there Jin thanked Togami for the help, which the SHSL Heir adjusted his glasses and said that he is simply doing what a HERO-IN-TRAINING would do, and claimed that he doesn't share the same mindset of the Steering Committee members.

Likewise, the other students who came to Naegi's defense said that they too would do the same thing and made it clear that Naegi is welcomed in their section if he gets transferred to the main course department, saying that Naegi is really a good person and would have a fine career as a pro hero once he graduates from Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"If I must say…at least Makoto Naegi is quite interesting…even if he is not on the level of a Togami like myself…"

"Naegi is somewhat honorable…"

"And possibly a model student…"

"Aside from being kind-hearted…he's somewhat…cute…"

"Huh? Maizono-chan…you like Naegi...?"

"Hmm…though he can be a good boy…"

"I see no problem…"

"Are your tastes in boys that bland, Maizono…?"

Nodding his head, Jin told the students to head back to their dorms as it is already late, and said that he will start the paperwork and have Naegi transferred to the main course department, which made the main course students excited as they are looking forward to see Naegi getting sorted into their section, seeing that Naegi would be easy to get along with.

"Okay, you kids get some rest. I will handle the rest."

"Okay…"

"And I'll see to it that Naegi would be transferred to the main course department as soon as possible…good night."

"Good night…"

As the students left, Kizakura sighed as he said that this was quite a tension-filled situation as the Steering Committee members are persistent in wanting the jailed hostile main course students released and have Naegi expelled for such shallow reason, and he advised Jin to be careful, reasoning that he has a feeling that the Steering Committee members are not going to give up their case.

"Better not let your guard down, Jin. Those idiots would not give up."

"Yeah."

"I'm pretty sure that they would come up with anything to bail those brats out given that their parents are financial backers of this academy."

"They are being charged…and if they back out…I don't care. I won't let them dictate my decision regarding Naegi..."

"Then you better steel yourself. We'll be facing a rough road ahead."

"Yeah."

"Want a whiskey…?"

"No."

At the dormitory located near the main course building of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, the scene shows that Kibo is inside his dorm room, and now he is sharing it with Naegi, as his apartment unit is off-limits at this time due to being cordoned off after the attack, and the teen cyborg tells him that Naegi would be staying here temporarily while the headmaster is working on getting Naegi transferred to the main course department.

Naegi just nodded, as he feels out of place as he is now at the dormitory where the main course students are staying as there is no dormitory for the reserve course students, and he wondered if he really deserve being here at the main course department, which Kibo said that Naegi has earned the right as he worked hard for it and now his efforts have paid off, hence he has no reason to doubt himself.

"Naegi-sensei…you shouldn't feel ashamed."

"But…"

"You've worked hard for it…and it paid off."

"Well…"

"Despite what happened earlier…you didn't give in…and with some of the main course students who came to your aid testified on your behalf…it shows that even a reserve course student like you can be scouted and potentially be transferred to the main course department. So you shouldn't doubt yourself."

"Y-yeah…I guess."

"So for now…feel at ease."

"Okay…"

Naegi just nodded even though he feels uneasy about this, and as Kibo prepared the futon, Naegi looked around as he saw the ambience of the teen cyborg's dorm room, which was well-decorated and impressive, and there Kibo tells Naegi that for now he is going to stay here as the headmaster said that Naegi would be residing here until the paperwork is done and once Naegi is officially a main course student, he would be given his own dorm room, surprising the teen boy.

"Huh? Seriously?"

"Yes. The headmaster said so."

"…"

"Hence, it would be a matter of time before you could live here during your studies at this academy. So for now be a little patient."

"I…I really…"

"Lets get some rest. It was a rough night we had…"

"Okay…"

"Good…"

After that, both boys began to retire for the night, and drifted off to sleep, with the teen cyborg looking forward to tomorrow while Naegi wondered what would happen when the main course students residing in this dormitory finds out that a reserve course student is residing here, sensing that it might cause a commotion that might lead to an untoward situation.

The next day, many main course students of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy were taken by surprise as they saw Naegi leaving the dorm room where Kibo is staying, and that Kibo is accompanying Naegi as they are heading to the academy, which elicited a lot of comments as they wondered what is going on, as they are unaware of what happened last night.

"Hey…isn't that…"

"Huh?"

"That's a reserve course student…"

"Why is he here?"

"And why is Kibo accompanying him?"

"Something is fishy here…"

"I got a bad feeling…"

"He sure has the nerve…"

As Naegi is heading for the stairs, a few main course students confronted him and demanded to know why a reserve course student is here, but Kibo confronted them and said that this was the recommendation of the headmaster which made the main course students stare in disbelief and tells the teen cyborg not to make a cheap alibi, but Kibo stood his ground and reiterated what he just said.

"I reiterate…this was the headmaster's decision."

"Huh?"

"What?"

"Eh?"

"Makoto Naegi will be staying at my dorm unit until he gets one of his own…and that is that."

"Seriously?"

"You got to be joking…"

"Is that an alibi…?"

Suddenly, Togami showed up and tells Kibo and Naegi to get going, or they will be late, which the two nodded before leaving, and as the two left, Togami told the main course students, who questioned Naegi on why he is here, about the circumstances last night and why Naegi is staying at Kibo's dorm room, and the main course students were taken aback at hearing the possibility that a reserve course student would be transferring to the main course department.

"And that is that. Makoto Naegi would be transferred to the main course department very soon."

"What?"

"Seriously?"

"No way!"

"If you doubt my word, go to the headmaster's office and speak to the headmaster…if you want to be sure."

"…"

After that, Togami left as he too is heading for the academy, and the main course students glanced at each other and are baffled as to how this happened, as they believed that there is no way a reserve course student would be scouted and be possibly recommended to be transferred to the main course department, and suspect that Naegi may have bribed the headmaster, something they wrongly believed that this is the case.

"This can't be…"

"How did this happen…?"

"A reserve course student getting transferred to the main course department…? Unbelievable!"

"It can't be…!"

"I bet that Naegi must've bribed the headmaster…"

"Yeah…"

"Could be…"

"That must be it…!"

Hope you liked this chapter, in which Naegi became a hot topic again, although this time the circumstances surrounding the event has changed, and right now he is temporarily staying at Kibo's dorm unit while his transfer to the main course department is being processed…

Some within the main course department are in disbelief after hearing that a reserve course student like Naegi is being transferred…which would no doubt sent word flying to the rest of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy…
