Ch. 38: Meinkōsu bumon-nai tsuā

The scene shifts at the student council room, where members of the Hope's Peak Superhero Academy's student council are assembled, and are about to commence their usual meeting, and there they glanced at each other as they are checking if all members are present, making sure that everyone is complete, as they are maintaining a perfect attendance.

The student council president arrived, and there the members stood up and greeted the student council president with courtesy and respect.

"Good morning, student council members…"

"Good morning, president…"

The student council group is consisting of the following students, who are identified as:

- Sōshun Murasame

- Aiko Umesawa

- Asukasei Hino

- Daiki Kubo

- Karen Kisaragi

- Kiriko Nishizawa

- Kotomi Ikuta

- Ryōta Someya

- Shōji Yokō

- Suzuko Kashiki

- Tarō Kurosaki

- Tomohiko Gōryoku

- Tsubasa Kamii

The student council members bowed as Murasame came and told his fellow council members that the meeting is now in session, and there they began addressing the topic, which is about Makoto Naegi, in which the council members stated that they heard that Naegi is now a main course department student while sorted to Class 78.

There Kurosaki and Kamii said that they happened to overhear the conversation of the Steering Committee members, who are panicking over the fact that their clients, who are the wealthy parents of the main course students who are recommended for expulsion, are threatening to withdraw financial support, and the Steering Committee members are scrambling to find a way to reinstate the hostile main course students while coming up with a scheme to kick Naegi out of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

The other student council members are dismayed at what they just heard and couldn't believe that the Steering Committee members are really that petty to an unhealthy degree, as they only care about the money and not about the academy as a whole.

"Those Steering Committee members…"

"Is that they ever care about? Money?"

"It shows that they are not loyal to the academy…"

"Such idiots…"

"Indeed…"

"Why are they even here for…?"

"Can't the headmaster fire them?"

"That's what I'm thinking…"

The student council members then commented that they happened to hear that there are some main course students who still refuse to acknowledge the fact that Naegi earned it through effort, and believe that he bribed his way through via the headmaster and some think that he cheated his way to the top, which Murasame sighed and tells his fellow student council members that this shows that there are those within the main course department who do not recognize the fact that even those who started from the bottom can climb their way up through hard work.

There he tells his fellow student council members that for now they should keep an eye on the Steering Committee members, stating that they are likely cooking a plot to do anything to reverse the decision to have the hostile main course students expelled and kick Naegi out of the main course department and possibly out of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"For now…let's stay vigilant. We subtlety and discreetly keep an eye on the Steering Committee members so we would have an idea what they are planning. Understand?"

"Yes, president."

Meanwhile, the scene shows that Maizono is giving Naegi a tour around Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, which he is awed by the amenities of the school, which he felt that he was LUCKY to have seen it as she tells him that students within the main course department are the ones who get to see it, and Naegi slowly fell mentally grim upon realizing that those who are sorted to the reserve course department were not allowed here, and this made him wonder why the gap and the possible discrimination.

As Maizono led Naegi to the gym, he is surprised to see that the technological tools are used to help train the main course students and there she tells him that he would also undergo the rigid training like all the main course students undergo.

"…so this is where you would train and hone your skills…"

"Whoa…"

"Even during PE...you're going to get a physical…"

"I see…"

"So don't try slacking off…"

"No, of course not…"

"Good."

"…"

As Maizono led Naegi towards the main course building to give him a tour towards the cafeteria, some main course students are resenting Naegi, as they still couldn't believe that a reserve course student was able to get transferred here, and vehemently believe that he cheated his way and now deem him a PARASITE that needs to be weeded out, refusing to acknowledge him as an equal due to their extreme belief that reserve course student are beneath them and will never be on the same level as the main course students.

"Damn that Naegi. Do you really believe this…?"

"That reserve course student sure has the nerve…he's now acting high and mighty…"

"He's just a reserve course student…now he thinks he owns Hope's Peak…?"

"How did he managed to get into the main course…?"

"I am pretty sure…he must've bribed the headmaster…"

"That's possible…"

"Something is definitely suspicious here…we got to do something…"

"I agree…"

A few minutes later, the scene shifts inside the cafeteria where Naegi was amazed at the ambience of the cafeteria, as it looked like a five-star establishment as the appearance is impressive, and the food being served is topnotch, and there Maizono tells him that this is where he would buy lunch and snacks, and said that she would like to hang out with him here whenever there is free time.

Naegi blushed at hearing this and is flattered, though he wondered if he deserved this as Maizono is an established hero-student while he just got started, and asked her if she is sure about this, saying that he just got transferred here but she assured to him that it is okay since they are classmates and friends, hence there is no need to feel inferior about status and the like.

"Naegi…you're now a main course student…"

"Well…yeah…"

"We're classmates…right?"

"Y-yeah…"

"That means we're equals now, so don't feel like you're lower than us."

"Okay…"

"And we're friends…so we hang out together…okay?"

"O-okay…"

However, some main course students who resented Naegi because of the fact that he used to be a reserve course student confronted him, demanding to know if he cheated his way here, saying that there is no way a reserve course student would get scouted into the main course department so easily.

"Hey you…!"

"Who do you think you are…?"

"How can a reserve course student getting transferred to the main course department…? Unbelievable!"

"This is impossible…!"

"I bet that Naegi must've bribed the headmaster…"

"Yeah…"

"Looks like it…"

"That must be it…!"

Maizono defended Naegi and told her fellow main course students to stop harassing him as he proved his worth but the other students reiterated that Naegi has no right being here and said that he doesn't belong to the main course department and demanded that he quit Hope's Peak Superhero Academy immediately.

"That brat doesn't belong here! He should quit while he still can!"

"Yeah!"

However, Asahina and Ohgami showed up, and having witnessed what just happened, they stood in front of Naegi and told the other students to leave Naegi alone as he has earned the right to be at the main course department, which the other main course students stared wide-eyed in disbelief, accusing them of being traitors.

"What…?"

"Seriously…?"

"No way! Do you realize what you're saying?"

"Why would you side with a reserve course student? He's a fraud!"

"This is unbelievable…"

"Its not fair…"

"I won't accept this…"

"Me neither…"

Fortunately, Kibo and Akamatsu showed up and told the main course students to leave if they are just here to harass Naegi, and the students reluctantly left, and there the teen cyborg asked Naegi if he is okay, which the latter assured to Kibo that he is fine and thanked him for defending him from the other students.

"Naegi-sensei…are you okay…?"

"Yeah, I'm okay."

"It seems that some within the main course department still wouldn't accept you even though you worked hard…"

"I suppose…"

"You better watch your back…"

"I will. Thanks."

"No problem."

"…"

Akamatsu then approached Maizono and invited her to attend a piano recital as she is performing this weekend, and Maizono asked if this is okay, reminding her that she is an idol, which Akamatsu said that it is okay since they both have something in common, which is music, and Maizono decided to accept, much to Akamatsu's appreciation.

"Hmm…okay, I'll attend."

"Really, Maizono?"

"Yeah."

"That's great!"

"Oh, it's nothing."

"Ill provide you the details of the venue…"

"Okay."

"Yes!"

However, some of the Steering Committee members who passed by were irritated at seeing Naegi, and the fact that some students from top sections were befriending Naegi, and they believed that Naegi must be forcefully expelled from Hope's Peak before he INFECTS the rest of the main course department.

"That Naegi…he really is a headache!"

"I agree!"

"He's just a reserve course student! A maggot who doesn't belong to the higher echelon of Hope's Peak!"

"That's right! Now he INFECTED some of the top students in the main course department! He's a plague!"

"An infectious virus!"

"That's right!"

"We got to do something!"

"We can't let that brat…"

The Steering Committee members then took their leave and decided to have an emergency meeting in order to address the situation, as they are unwilling to let this drag on, feeling that Naegi is already becoming a BAD INFLUENCE to the main course students.

"We got to do something about that Naegi…he really is becoming a threat!"

"I agree!"

"He's just a reserve course student! A maggot who doesn't belong to the higher echelon of Hope's Peak! Now he's waltzing around like he's a millionaire!"

"That's right! Now he INFECTED some of the top students in the main course department! He's a plague! A very dangerous plague!"

"An infectious virus that must be eradicated!"

"That's right!"

"We got to do something!"

"We can't let that brat…"

As the Steering Committee members left, Kizakura is seen observing the scene, and he smirked at seeing Maizono, Asahina, Ohgami, Akamatsu and Kibo befriending Naegi, and the talent scout glanced at the Steering Committee members, dismayed that they are acting immature over a student who became the first reserve course student who got scouted and transferred to the main course department.

"Those stupid Steering Committee idiots…good luck…"

Much later, the scene shifts at the headmaster's office, where Naegi and Kibo are summoned, and there the headmaster told the two students that they are given their first assignment where they are going to Yokohama as there is a hostage situation and they are tasked to assist with the police in rescuing the hostages and defeat the hostage-takers, which Naegi and Kibo nodded.

"That is your first official assignment."

"Me and Naegi..."

"Us…?"

"Yes. The police from Yokohama requested for our help…and after getting information, Kizakura said that you two are best suited for that kind of situation…"

"I see…"

"Okay…"

"Will you two accept…?"

"Yes…"

Hope you liked this chapter, in which Naegi became a hot topic again, although this time the circumstances surrounding the event has changed, and right now he is effectively a main course student and is now part of Class 78, which surprised majority of the Class 78 members…

Naegi is given a tour within the main course building of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy…and a possible friendship…and a potential romance is being build up between him and Maizono…

However, Naegi's transfer was not well-received as the Steering Committee members and some main course students are not pleased by this and believed that Naegi has bribed his way through and are now going to EXPOSE him, unwilling to accept that Naegi actually earned the right…

And now Naegi is given his FIRST ASSIGNMENT for Hope's Peak…and he is paired with Kibo…
