Ch. 39: x
The scene shifts at the headmaster's office, where Naegi and Kibo are summoned, and there the headmaster told the two students that they are given their first assignment where they are going to Yokohama as there is a hostage situation and they are tasked to assist with the police in rescuing the hostages and defeat the hostage-takers, which Naegi and Kibo nodded.
"That is your first official assignment."
"Me and Naegi..."
"Us…?"
"Yes. The police from Yokohama requested for our help…and after getting information, Kizakura said that you two are best suited for that kind of situation…"
"I see…"
"Okay…"
"Will you two accept…?"
"Yes…"
"Yes…"
However, five members of the Steering Committee abruptly entered the headmaster's office and voiced their disapproval of Naegi's involvement, saying that he is NOT RECOGNIZED as a main course student, hence they demanded that Jin find another main course student to work with Kibo, which the teen cyborg raised his voice and threatened the Steering Committee members in such a tone which the Steering Committee members consider this an act of insubordination.

Jin also raised his voice, saying that the matter has already been decided, and that Naegi is OFFICIALLY a main course student, hence is now part of the main course and he has given Naegi is first assignment as a main course student of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, which the Steering Committee members tried to resist as they are determined to have Naegi removed from the main course department on the basis of him ILLEGALLY being scouted through QUESTIONABLE MEANS.

However, the president of the student council, the vice president, and two council members came as they overheard the argument, and sternly told the Steering Committee members to stop interfering as the student council would be forced to tell the board of education about what the Steering Committee members are intending to do just to get the expelled hostile main course students get reinstated, which shocked the Steering Committee members.

The Steering Committee members were in a bind as they wondered how the student council members found out, and as the student council president gave the Steering Committee members an ultimatum, the Steering Committee members were forced to abruptly leave the headmaster's office, which Kibo bowed to the student council members for the help, though the student council president said that it is nothing.

After that, the student council members left, and Jin apologized to Naegi for what happened, though the teenager assured that he is not bothered by it even though Jin said that he is deeply bothered that the Steering Committee members still sees Naegi as a reserve course student even though he already proved his worth as a main course student in the main course department.

After that, Naegi and Kibo took their leave as they are now heading for Yokohama to assist the police in dealing with a hostage situation, not noticing that the Steering Committee members are glaring straight towards Naegi, as they still persist in seeing Naegi as an eyesore and not worthy of being scouted to the main course department.

However, Kizakura passed by and overheard the conversation, and teasingly threatened to blab with the student council members if the Steering Committee doesn't stop harassing Naegi, and the Steering Committee members jumped in shock, causing Kizakura to snicker before walking away, and the Steering Committee members are pissed off at not only Jin Kirigiri but also as Kizakura, as the two men are the reason why the Steering Committee members lost their financial source of pocket money.

At the classroom of Class 78, the students were surprised to find out that Naegi is off to his first assignment, which is to assist the police at Yokohama to rescue the hostages who are being used as leverage to keep the police back, and the students are curious as to how Naegi would make an impression, only to find out that Kibo is also assigned to the same assignment as Naegi.

Maizono expressed envy as she wished that she were in Kibo's place, causing Asahina, Kuwata and Yamada to tease Maizono, as the latter blushed and tried to deny the accusations, to no avail as she got flustered by the teasing from her classmates, urging her to tell Naegi that she likes him.

Soon a teacher came and tells the class that classes are about to begin, and everyone went to their seats and nodded in acknowledgement as the subject is about to commence.

About 20 minutes later, Naegi and Kibo arrived at the site of the situation, where Kibo approached the officer in charge and showed him his and Naegi's Hope's Peak Superhero Academy ID, and the officer nodded and thanked Kibo and Naegi for coming, and told the two teens about the current situation, as the hostage-takers are armed with high-powered weapons and had just shot a pregnant hostage before throwing her out from the tower, which the officer in charge pointed towards the establishment in front of the cops.
It is shown that the establishment resembled that of the Shibuya Tower which has 100 floors, and there the officer in charge showed the corpse of the dead hostage, where she was shot on the head and womb area before being thrown out, which Kibo and Naegi were incensed by what the hostage-takers did.

The officer in charge then said that the hostage-takers made a demand that they be given a helicopter to be delivered to them, and said that if their demands are not met they are going to execute a hostage in every 90 seconds, and the officer in charge said that the corpse they saw just now was the first casualty.

By then another cop came and said that 90 seconds are almost up and feared that the hostage-takers are going to execute another hostage, and the officer in charge became alarmed and attempted to contact the hostage-takers to try stalling them so as to give Naegi and Kibo time to infiltrate the tower, only to see another body being thrown out.
The body thrown out landed on top of a parked police car, and upon closer inspection the dead body belonged to a six-year old girl who was shot on the head, thus she is already dead before being thrown out of the tower, and the officer in charge is livid just as the hostage-takers contacted him via the cellphone and reminded him of the demand.

After that, the officer in charge said that he will abide and said that he will send a helicopter right away, which the hostage-takers said that they still have 90 seconds, and the officer in charge begged the leader of the hostage-takers to stop the killings as he already called for a helicopter, but the leader of the hostage-takers told the officer in charge to hurry it up because he couldn't wait.

Kibo and Naegi glanced at each other, and recognize the severity of the situation, and both agreed that they need to infiltrate the tower as soon as possible before another victim gets unreasonably executed, and Kibo whispered to Naegi, asking if he could move at fast speed so as to get inside the tower faster, which Naegi nodded.

Hope you liked this chapter, in which Naegi became a hot topic again, although this time the circumstances surrounding the event has changed, and right now he is effectively a main course student and is now part of Class 78, which surprised majority of the Class 78 members…
Naegi is given a tour within the main course building of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy…and a possible friendship…and a potential romance is being build up between him and Maizono…
However, Naegi's transfer was not well-received as the Steering Committee members and some main course students are not pleased by this and believed that Naegi has bribed his way through and are now going to EXPOSE him, unwilling to accept that Naegi actually earned the right…
And now Naegi is given his FIRST ASSIGNMENT for Hope's Peak…and he is paired with Kibo…
