First off: belated happy New Year and welcome to 2022. Last month I said that this fic will be ready by the end of January, but for a reason it ended up getting delayed, in which I won't make any excuses. It is because I caught the COVID despite getting vaccinated, and I believe that I have gotten the Omicron variant. Thankfully I managed to recover while isolating myself inside my house but as a result working on this and my other fanfics slowed down, hence the late update of this fic.

Now that I finished my explanation…time to get down to business…

I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here, we are in a currently new story arc, which we are now shifting back to the current students, where they are in the midst of looking for a new safe zone while the search for Yuta Asahina is ongoing…

Ch. 45: Kyōdai wa mitsukarimashita

Fuyuhiko twitched his eyes as Natsumi ran around the table NAKED as Maizono chases after her, saying that PLAYTIME is ongoing, and she needs to be TAUGHT A LESSON, and assured to her that it'll be OKAY, yet Natsumi is screaming in fright knowing what Maizono is planning to do.

"Come over here~e…"

"HELP!"

"Don't be shy~y…"

"GET AWAY FROM ME!"

"Lets play~y…"

"SOMEONE HELP!"

"Here I come~e…"

"MAIZONO THE MANIAC IS AFTER ME!"

The two girls continue to ran around the table before leaving the living room area, and there Hinata tells Naegi to go after them and get Maizono away before more unwanted situations might take place, which Naegi frantically nodded in acknowledgement.

"N-Naegi…"

"…"

"You better go and separate those two…"

"R-right…"

"There's no telling what's going to happen…"

"Yeah…"

"Better hurry…"

"I'm on it…!"

As the three teenagers are out of sight, Fuyuhiko face-palmed as he wondered how things ended up like this, and there Iruma took everyone's attention as she completed another set of drones, and are ready to take off as she set the coordinates to Mt. Bandai to see if that area is still safe.

Kyoko nodded and tells Iruma that they needed info in order to determine whether they should move out or not, and the SHSL Inventor haughtily assured that the information they sought will be acquired soon.

"Sure! No problem!"

"Really?"

"Yup!"

"Then we're counting on you."

"Just leave it to me!"

"Very well."

"Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho…!"

"…"

By then Aoi approached Iruma and humbly requested that she use one of the drones to search the city and see if Yuta is alive, as she wanted to save him as it has been a few days since the zombie infestation began, and Iruma nodded and said that she will get onto it immediately.

Ohgami placed a hand and assured to Aoi that her younger brother will be found soon, but then she tells her that she has to be ready in case the results of the search would turn out to be negative, as well as she has to be ready as there's a possibility that her younger brother has turned into a zombie.

"Asahina…"

"…"

"You should brace yourself."

"…"

"There is no telling what we would find."

"…"

"Just be ready for anything."

"…"

Aoi was silent for a while after hearing what Ohgami just said, and after some gentle prodding the SHSL Swimmer reluctantly nodded as Iruma activated a drone and sent it to the city to find Yuta and pinpoint its location in case he is alive and still normal.

Outside The Kuzuryuu manor, the Kuzuryuu gunmen are still manning the gates and so far things are peaceful at the moment yet they knew that they can't be complacent as the zombie infestation is ongoing and there's no telling what would happen next, and they knew their orders, which is to alert everyone inside should a zombie horde shows up, and there the gunmen are to barricade the gates while allowing the survivors inside time to evacuate the manor.

"Looks okay so far."

"Yeah."

"But you heard what the boss said."

"Yeah, I know."

"Don't make a noise."

"Right."

"Those things can only SEE if they hear something LOUD..."

"True."

Two more gunmen came and offered to take their shift, which the other two nodded, and just as the four are about to exchange shifts, they noticed that two male survivors are attempting to climb the walls of the Kuzuryuu manor in order to get in, and this made the gunmen feel alarmed seeing how brazen the two men are, as their foolishness would lead the zombies inside the manor.

There one of the gunmen told the other three to be on standby as he will go inside and ask Fuyuhiko for instructions as he is unsure on how to respond, which the other three nodded and told their fellow gunman to get going while they will monitor the situation from here.

Several minutes later, the scene shifts at another area within the city where the next scene zoomed across until it showed a 16-story penthouse where you can see that Enoshima is at the rooftop, where a swimming pool is located, and using a binoculars, she watches the scene below where some survivors who managed to escape the initial onslaught were caught by the zombies and are screaming as they are being eaten alive.

"AAAAAIIIIIEEEE!"

"GGGGGYYYYYAAAHHH!"

"AAAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

"AAAAAIIIIIEEEE!"

"GGGGGYYYYYAAAHHH!"

"AAAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

As Enoshima uses the binoculars, she saw many people are trapped inside their cars as they are surrounded by zombies, in which the zombies smashed through the car windows and dragged their prey out and proceeded to eat them alive, while chaos reigned in the streets where many are scrambling to get away from the zombies.

Then you can see that more UNFORTUNATE persons are caught by the horde and are proceeded to be ripped apart while eaten alive, which the victims screamed in terror and agony as they are eaten away, as the scene is like seeing a antelope being bitten and ripped apart by wild dogs. The victims' INTERNAL body parts are seen spilled onto the ground while lying in a pool of blood as the zombies feast on their prey.

"AAAAAIIIIIEEEE!"

"GGGGGYYYYYAAAHHH!"

"AAAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

"AAAAAIIIIIEEEE!"

"GGGGGYYYYYAAAHHH!"

"AAAAAAHHHH!"

"WWWWWAAAAAHHHH!"

Meanwhile the scene shifts at the 15th floor where a room is shown and as the scene zoomed inside you can see that Yuta is asleep, and it was revealed that three days ago Enoshima led Yuta to another place to stay after the last one was infiltrated by zombies and the two teens managed to escape, and now you can see that Yuta is soundly asleep, unaware that Enoshima is enjoying the bloody massacre.

By then Yuta woke up and looked around, seeing that Enoshima is not around, but then recalled about the tour they made and he went to the penthouse floor where minutes later he found Enoshima near the swimming pool and he approached her, asking how are things outside, as he had a feeling that things don't look good at the moment.

"Enoshima-chan…"

"Ah, Yuta...you finally got up…"

"…"

"(smiling)…"

"Is…the situation down there not good…?"

"Well…"

"…"

"…"

Enoshima chose not to show Yuta the situation at the ground as she still need him as she figured that he might buck under pressure and tells him that by tonight they are going to sneak out of the penthouse and find a safe zone which would be zombie-free.

She then tells Yuta that the way things are at the moment, moving around carelessly would be a bad idea and right now they would need to plan their next move and determine which route to take before deciding which place to go, though she asked the younger boy to be a little patient in finding his family as doing so right now is nearly impossible.

"So right now staying put all day would be our only option."

"…yeah…"

"When the night comes…then we are going to take a try and escape."

"…yeah…"

"But once we find a safe zone we will try to find your family."

"…yeah…"

"So are we good?"

"…yeah…"

Enoshima mentally smirked seeing that the younger boy readily agreed, and right now she thought of something and by then a naughty idea came to mind seeing the swimming pool beside them and invited Yuta to join her in taking a dip, which the 13-year old boy thought carefully, and decided that she has a point as they haven't taken a bath yesterday.

"Oh, Yuta..."

"Yes…?"

"Want to take a dip…?"

"At the pool…?"

"Yup."

"Uh…okay…I guess…"

"Goody."

"…"

The two teens didn't notice that a drone is hovering above them, which turn out to be one of the drones that Iruma sent, and there the drone began the live recording and sent it to the Kuzuryuu manor to notify everyone inside, so as to give Aoi a glimmer of hope as this would show her that Yuta is alive and in good physical condition.

Back at the Kuzuryuu manor, the survivors from Hope's Peak Academy glanced at the monitor where the drones' cameras are connected, and there they saw the current state of the city, seeing that it was not only chaotic, but also bloody, as many people are caught by zombies, resulting in the victims being eaten alive.

Kyoko remained stoic while Aoi, Ohgami, Fuyuhiko and Hinata were staring in disbelief as they didn't expect that the situation outside would be that bad, if not worse, and what's more, almost none of the soldiers or the JSDF are there to help the escapees.

"No way…"

"Oh dear…"

"…"

"…"

"Not a single soldier is seen…"

"Looks like they abandoned everything…"

"…"

"…"

Ikusaba saw this as well and suggested that either the top military brass are bucking under pressure or there is corruption involved, which the rest stared in disbelief at what the SHSL Soldier just suggested, but then Aoi stared wide-eyed as one of the drone footage showed that it found Yuta, and the SHSL Swimmer was elated to see that her younger brother is alive and in good physical condition.

Ohgami placed a hand on her classmate's shoulder and said that hope has emerged and now she has the chance to reunite with her younger brother, which Aoi was glad to see that Yuta is safe for now, and away from the reach of the zombies.

However, Kyoko noticed that Ikusaba wasn't as excited, as the SHSL Soldier had a look of apprehension and there Kyoko asked what is wrong, and there Ikusaba pointed her finger, and the rest looked at the monitor, where it is shown that Enoshima is with Yuta, and there Aoi became worried, especially since Ikusaba revealed that Enoshima is the cause of the zombie infestation.

Ohgami tried to calm Aoi down as she is starting to panic, fearing that Enoshima might do something malevolent towards the younger boy even though the live footage did not indicate that something bad might take place.

"Asahina…wait…"

"But…Yuta...he…he…"

"Don't panic…"

"But Enoshima is there! She might…"

"Calm down…it'll be alright…"

"…"

"Your brother will be saved…you have my word."

"…"

Hinata wondered what is going to happen, since he heard from Ikusaba that Enoshima has no qualms about letting anyone and everyone get killed, and yet he is baffled as to how Yuta is still alive since the undead pandemic started days ago, and there Ikusaba deduced that Enoshima has kept Yuta alive for some reason, which Aoi and Hinata asked if she is sure.

"Really…?"

"Looks like it."

"…"

"If Junko-chan deems your brother worthless then she would have discarded him days ago."

"…"

"For now it is fortunate that she chose to let your brother live."

"I…I guess…"

"But this is a fortunate coincidence…"

"Eh?"

Ikusaba revealed that Enoshima would allow someone to live if this person would alleviate her from boredom as well as it would depend on whether Enoshima has any use for this person, and the SHSL Soldier said that Enoshima seemed to have noticed something from Yuta that would warrant in letting him live for the time being.

As everyone were glancing at Ikusaba as the SHSL Soldier told them about Enoshima, Iruma raised an eyebrow as she saw something is unfolding at the live footage of the drone and told everyone that something is happening, and as the Hope's Peak Academy survivors glanced at the monitor, they stared wide-eyed at what they just saw.

The live footage shows that Enoshima is kissing Yuta passionately on the lips, which looked romantic, yet Ikusaba was quick to point out that Enoshima is incapable of romantic affection given how she view anyone and everyone as disposable. Aoi slowly became worried at the thought that Enoshima would dispose Yuta on a selfish whim.

"If so…then Enoshima would…"

"The moment Junko-chan deems your brother as disposable, she will abandon him."

"…"

"So for now she sees him as some use to her, so let's hope that she has uses for him till we find their location."

"Why would she…"

"Perhaps Junko-chan finds your younger brother…attractive enough to keep her from getting bored."

"What?"

"…"
