Ch. 48: Atarashī wariate part 3

Jin and Kizakura looks on as the hostile Main Course students are urging them to have Naegi expelled from the Main Course department under the basis that he is NOT OFFICIALLY a Main Course student, insisting that his being transferred to the Main Course department is a fluke and believe that Naegi cheated his way, thus the hostile Main Course students reiterated that Naegi has no right being involved in assignments for the Main Course department of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"We implore you! Expel that brat! He's nothing but a fraud! A faker! He cheated his way here and is posing as a Main Course student!"

"We believe that he bribed someone so he can be here!"

"I say he is a liability to this prestigious school! He is a risk factor that would brought shame to this academy!"

"Therefore that brat should be kicked out! Expel him and blacklist him so he won't be brought back here!"

"Expel him at once!"

"Kick him out of this academy!"

"Do it!"

"Do it now!"

The Steering Committee members smirked as they believe that they are gaining ground as the hostile Main Course students are putting pressure on Jin to get him to expel Naegi and there the Steering Committee members began to verbally taunt Jin, saying that as the headmaster of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, he cannot simply ignore the students' grievances and hence he cannot play favorites here, and insisted that the Main Course students made it loud and clear that Naegi is an UNDESIRABLE and he has to be expelled from this academy no matter what.

"You heard what the students said…give in to their demands…expel that brat as he is no more than an embarrassment to this prestigious academy!"

"Expel him!"

The hostile Main Course students, seeing that they found allies in protesting against a common enemy, also voiced their demands and urged the headmaster to expel Naegi from Hope's Peak Superhero Academy or they would hold a huge protest and will not stop until Naegi is expelled from the academy.

"Expel him!"

Naegi clenched his fists as he sees that the hostile Main Course students are determined to have him boot out from the Main Course department just because he started off as a Reserve Course student who genuinely got recognized and was scouted before being transferred to the Main Course department, and he felt like wanting to verbally lash at the arrogant students but Maizono, Saihara and Akamatsu held him back.

They urged him to calm down and not give in to the detractors' provocations and assured to him that the headmaster will not bow to anyone's whim and said that they will make their move if the detractors would not stop harassing Naegi.

"Easy, Naegi…"

"Calm down "

"They're right…you did nothing wrong. So just stay calm."

"But…I can't just…"

"Its okay, Naegi."

"Don't worry about it."

"We got your back."

"…"

As the hostile Main Course students and the Steering Committee members are increasing their tones to pressure Jin into getting Naegi expelled, the headmaster glared at them as he can tell that their actions are selfish in nature and he is ready to answer back at them, as Jin has no intention to give in to their selfish whims, knowing that their basis is that of discrimination because the hostile Main Course students and the Steering Committee members sees the Reserve Course students as STEPPING STONES that they can be trampled with.

However, the door swings open where the Student Council president, Sōshun Murasame, came in and stared at the hostile Main Course students and the Steering Committee members, where he reprimanded them for their selfish behaviors and that their demands won't be met because of its shallow and cheap basis, as he reiterated that Kizakura never made any flawed decisions.

Moreover, Murasame told them that he, with Jin's permission, checked the academic records of Naegi and concluded that there were no discrepancies and that Kizakura genuinely saw that Naegi do have a TALENT and that he never resorted to cheating, hence the hostile Main Course students and the Steering Committee members have no basis or reason to have Naegi expelled.

The hostile Main Course students were appalled at hearing this and began accusing Murasame of being a TRAITOR and began insinuating that he was bribed by Naegi, and began berating him for PLAYING FAVORITE by defending a GARBAGE like Naegi, insisting that Reserve Course student are fitting expendables of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"So even the likes of you are willing to be bribed by that Reserve Course garbage like him? Unacceptable! That brat has no right being in the Main Course department, so it's fitting that he be expelled! And if you insist on defending that brat, then that means you're a traitor! Do you agree with me, guys?"

"Yeah!"

However, the rest of the Student Council members of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy showed up and defended Murasame, as they overheard the argument and that they are not pleased with the baseless accusations they made towards Murasame, as it is obvious that the hostile Main Course students wanted Naegi out of the Main Course department because they deem him an eyesore due to Naegi starting off as a Reserve Course student who gradually worked his way to the Main Course department.

The Student Council members who stood by Murasame are revealed to be:

Naegi appeared to be concerned as a standoff ensued as the Student Council members are not budging as they told the Steering Committee members and the hostile Main Course students that they have no legal basis in having Naegi expelled as their argument has no merit and chided them for being biased and foolish, as they admonished the detractors for refusing to accept the fact that Naegi legitimately worked his way diligently that resulted in Kizakura recognizing Naegi as worthy to be scouted and placed into the Main Course department.

However, the hostile Main Course students would not budge and insisted that Naegi has no JUSTIFIABLE reason to be in the Main Course department and insists that he be expelled from the Main Course department no matter what.

"Expel him!"

As the hostile Main Course students stubbornly reiterated that Naegi is still not worthy to be in the Main Course department, Kazuo Tengan passed by, and having overheard the argument and recognizing the Steering Committee members' ulterior motives towards Naegi, Tengan said something which forced both the hostile Main Course students and the Steering Committee members to stop their actions and reluctantly leaves the headmaster's office.

Jin sighed in relief and thanked Tengan for the help though the former headmaster smiled and said that it is nothing while he commended Naegi for keeping his cool amid the pressure that the detractors are putting him through, though Naegi admitted that he almost gave in but Maizono, Akamatsu and Saihara kept him grounded, which made Tengan more impressed at seeing Naegi's humility.

"Really now…?"

"Yes."

"There, there…no need to be modest…"

"But…if not for them I might've accidentally lash at those bullies…"

"Even then…it took a lot of effort to remain calm…and you did well on that…"

"Uh…"

"You don't have to be overly humble…"

"…"

The Student Council members decided to take their leave seeing that everything is back to normal, though they are still curious about what Naegi would do at this point as he is still not being subjected for expulsion thanks to Jin and Tengan.

After that Jin gave Naegi, Maizono, Saihara and Akamatsu some instructions on what to do, which the four students nodded in acknowledgement before leaving the headmaster's office, which Tengan smiled at seeing how energetic the youth are, while eyeing Naegi as the senior citizen is intrigued about how Naegi is able to keep going after being harassed by the Main Course students and the Steering Committee members.

As the four students left, Saihara and Akamatsu told Maizono to look out for Naegi, stating that they have a feeling that the Steering Committee members appeared to be fixated in getting Naegi expelled from Hope's Peak Superhero Academy for some selfish reasons and also cautions Naegi that he shouldn't be wandering alone within the campus, reasoning that the hostile Main Course students might resort to certain ways to make Naegi leave even though they are students of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"And so…you two need to watch your surroundings…"

"I doubt the other Main Course students would leave you alone, Naegi…"

"Okay."

"So for now, just be careful."

"And Maizono…stay close to Naegi."

"Okay."

As the four students walked within the corridors and are on their way back to their respective classrooms, they did not notice that the hostile Main Course students are glaring towards Naegi, irritated at the fact that a Reserve Course student has the nerve to fraternizing with some of the Main Course students and believe that he cheated his way through and they vowed to get Naegi expelled one way or the other.

"Damn that asshole. That Naegi thinks he can strut around like he pleases. We can't let him do as he pleases. We got to find a way to kick him out of this academy without getting ourselves exposed. We need a thorough plan. Are you with me, guys?"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"
"Yeah!"

As Naegi, Maizono, Saihara and Akamatsu continue to walk within the corridors, they did not notice that the Student Council members are watching Naegi, as the Student Council members expressed certain concerns that the hostile Main Course students are probably planning to use underhanded tactics to PERSUADE the headmaster into getting Naegi expelled, and there they told Murasame that they should secretly observe the hostile Main Course students and see to it that they would not do something that would tarnish the reputation of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.

"My fellow Student Council members…we need to keep an eye on the Main Course students who oppose Makoto Naegi. It'd be a problem of their antics escape the confines of this academy and attract unwanted attention. As members of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, it is our responsibility to maintain the peace and order of this prestigious school. Therefore we should seek the headmaster's permission to allow us to personally deal with the unruly students. Are you amendable to this?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."

"Yes."

As Murasame nodded in acknowledgement, he then assigned some of his fellow Student Council members to keep an eye on the Steering Committee members, as Murasame recognize the fact that the Steering Committee members also have a biased disapproval towards Naegi because they believe that Naegi is BENEATH THE STANDARDS of a Hope's Peak student, which the Student Council members acknowledge this fact and said that they would discreetly keep an eye on the Steering Committee members.

"I may have to assign some of you to keep a discreet eye on the Steering Committee members, and find out what they are up to in regards to Makoto Naegi. Can I count on your help?"
"Yes."
"Yes."

Hope you liked this chapter, in which Naegi is facing stiff opposition from the Steering Committee band some of the hostile Main Course students on the basis that they still consider him a Reserve Course student…and yet Tengan assisted Jin in getting the detractors to leave, and now Naegi is set to join Maizono, Akamatsu and Saihara in commencing their first assignment together.
