Ch. 50: Atarashī wariate part 5

The next day, the scene shifts at the headmaster's office, where Jin and Kizakura looks at the window as they saw Naegi, Maizono, Saihara and Akamatsu heading towards the gate of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy as the four students are about to commence their next assignment in which they are to serve as bodyguards to a visiting foreign princess, who is due to arrive at the airport this morning.

Kizakura adjusted his fedora hat as he is smirking, which Jin asked what is he is smirking about, which the scout revealed that he sensed that something INTERESTING is about to happen, which Jin thought it was something concerning and asked what it is about, only to face-palm as Kizakura said that he sensed that Maizono would likely get jealous once she meets the princess of Novoselic personally and would get even more jealous if the princess meets and interacts with Naegi.

"Is that what you're grinning about…?"

"Well…"

"Goodness, Kizakura!"

"Uh…"

"And I thought it was concerning about the situation here at the academy!"

"Well…"

"And you made me worried over nothing!"

"Oops."

Jin then reprimanded Kizakura for making irrelevant comments and told him not to say anything that would make him worried over nothing, which Kizakura sarcastically apologized for the silly shenanigans he made.

"Don't make me get worried over nothing, Kizakura."

"Ha-ha. Sorry."

"And don't make comments that are irrelevant to the academy matters."

"Really…I apologize."

"So please refrain from making useless comments."

"Okay, okay…"

"And I mean it."

"Aw…cut me a slack, Jin…"

Much later, the four students of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, all wearing their hero costumes, at the airport, where Naegi and Saihara went to the arrival gate area to await the arrival of the princess of Novoselic, while Maizono and Akamatsu are looking around at the area to see if there are any suspicious activities going on.

There Akamatsu noticed that Maizono is acting rather apprehensively and she asked her what is distressing her, and Maizono reluctantly told Akamatsu the reason why, and there the latter assured to Maizono that what she is thinking won't be the case, saying that Naegi isn't someone who fawns over someone he just met, as he is here to do the assignment professionally and not out if pleasure.

"…and that's that. So rest assured…Naegi will behave himself during the assignment."

"Really…?"

"Yes, really."

"For sure?"

"For sure."

"Promise?"

"Yes, Maizono."

"Okay…"

Meanwhile, as the two boys await the arrival of the foreign princess, Naegi asked if there is really someone who wanted to harm a princess who is the same age as him, which Saihara nodded, stating that he did some research and found out that not everyone in Novoselic like the current Royal Family and there are some who plotted to overthrow them but were unsuccessful.

Saihara also said that there is a possibility that the detractors might even hire assassins in Japan to either kill the princess or take her hostage so that she would be used as a bargaining chip to pressure the king and queen of Novoselic to abdicate the throne and allow the rebels to take over Novoselic.

"Seriously, Saihara?"

"Based on the research I made."

"Whoa…"

"And this is why the headmaster assigned us this assignment. To protect the princess as well as to stop the assassins. If we failed Japan would be placed in a bad spotlight."

"I see…"

"So we should do our best and not get distracted."

"Okay."

"Good."

By then arriving passengers came and there Saihara told Naegi to get ready, as anytime their intended visitor would show up, which Naegi nodded as Saihara raised a placard where the visitor's name is displayed, and after a few minutes someone approached Saihara and Naegi, which the latter was taken aback at seeing the visitor appearing before him.

The visitor, who is 5'7" in height, stood before Naegi, who is describe as a tall, young woman with fair skin and pale sea blue eyes. She has knee-length light blonde hair, part of it styled in a braided crown, the rest left to flow slightly towards the left. Her hair is accessorized with a green-black ribbon flecked with diamonds. She wears a dark teal dress with a white collar, puffed sleeves, and belt.

She also sports a large red ribbon with a blue jewel trimmed with silver on the chest. As well as this, she wears a pale bracelet on her left wrist, black over-knee socks trimmed with gray lines, and red toe cap heeled Mary Janes.

There Saihara welcomed the foreign visitor, which she nodded and greeted the two boys, where she introduced herself as Sonia Nevermind, the princess of Novoselic, and there Saihara introduces himself and Naegi, and there Sonia smiled as she thanked Saihara, saying that she is grateful towards Hope's Peak Superhero Academy for accepting her parents' request.

"I see. As the representative of the Royal Family of Novoselic, I wish to thank you for accepting my parents' request for acting as my bodyguards during my stay here."

"Oh, its nothing."

"I must say I am honored to meet some students studying at a prestigious school that trains students to become pro heroes."

"Oh, its nothing, really. We are just doing our jobs."

"No need to be modest. I would consider you an equal."

"Really…?"

"Yes."

"Well…"

Sonia then glanced at Naegi from head to toe, and for some reason she finds herself fascinated as she sees him as ordinary yet he appeared to exhibit something extraordinary within him, yet Naegi is unaware of this and asked Sonia if he did something to tick her off but she assured to him that he didn't do anything to offend her.

"Um…did I do something to cause you distress…?"

"Oh…no, you didn't."

"Really…?"

"Yes. I'm just intrigued by you."

"Me…?"

"Yes."

"Uh…how so…?"

"Well…"

Akamatsu and Maizono came and there Saihara introduced them to Sonia, and while Akamatsu greeted the princess, Maizono is visibly irked after seeing the princess smiling at Naegi, and noticing this, Akamatsu discreetly urged Maizono to calm down and not let jealousy cloud her judgment, though Maizono appeared to be unwilling at first.

"Whoa…Maizono…"

"Grr…"

"Easy now…"

"Grr…"

"No need to get jealous or insecure…"

"Grr…"

"Let's just do our assignment…and once the princess leave Japan…you can spend time with Naegi..."

"Grr…"

As Saihara led everyone out of the arriving area of the airport, Maizono then saw Sonia talking to Naegi, asking him about the red suit he is wearing, saying that it may looked ordinary but she finds it fascinating, especially the chest symbol, which Naegi appeared hesitant to respond as he is still unsure about the red suit's origin.

"Say, Naegi..."

"Y-yes…?"

"That costume…I find it…unique…"

"Uh…really…?"

"Yes…especially that symbol on your chest…it looked so…foreign…"

"Uh…well…I just bought it from a costume shop, so…"

"Really? If so, can I request that you give me a tour in your city?"

"Eh…?"

Maizono stared wide-eyed while puffing her mouth in irritation, jealousy and insecurity, and Akamatsu sweat-dropped at seeing this and she discreetly urged Maizono to calm down and remind her that they are here on a hero-based school assignment for Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, and there she assured to Maizono that once the assignment is finished and when Sonia flies back to Novoselic, she can spend time with Naegi at school and in the dorms.

"Whoa-whoa-whoa…Maizono…calm down…"

"Grr…"

"Easy now…relax…"

"Grr…"

"No need to get jealous or insecure…they're just having a friendly chat…"

"Grr…"

"Let's just do our assignment…and once the princess leave Japan…you can spend time with Naegi…I promise…"

"Grr…"

Though glaring at Sonia's direction, Maizono reluctantly relents as she and Akamatsu joined the two boys in escorting Sonia out of the airport where a security convoy is waiting, and as the group are nearing the exit of the airport, several men in black clothing appeared, all wearing black-colored ski masks brought out guns and aimed them at Sonia, making it clear that the Novoselic princess is their intended target.

Saihara anticipated this and grabbed Sonia as he and Akamatsu led her to find cover as Naegi blocked the attackers, who opened fire, but he uses his arms to cover his face as the red suit protected him from the bullets, and there Maizono uses her powers to sing a lullaby and the attackers who heard the song slowly slumped to the ground, as they are now soundly asleep like babies.

"SNORE…"

"ZZZZZ…"

"SNORE…"

"ZZZZZ…"

"SNORE…"

"ZZZZZ…"

"SNORE…"

"ZZZZZ…"

Airport security came and disarmed the attackers before unmasking them, where they turned out to be Japanese, and the police suspected that the sedated Japanese attackers are probably hired, and there the lead security leader told Saihara that it is possible that the one who hired the assassins may have already sneaked inside Japan and began recruiting assassins here using the foreign currency to entice them into accepting the offer to assassinate Sonia.

"…and from the looks of it...it seems that the Novoselic masterminds may have already arrived here in Japan earlier…and started to plan ahead…given that these hired goons showed up just now…"

"I see…"

"And we are now going to have a bit of difficulty once these goons wake up…they might have been trained not to give in during interrogation…"

"Possibly."

"So can we count on your help…?"

"Yes, of course."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

As the sedated assassins are taken away, Sonia was taken to the security convoy and head towards the Novoselic embassy within Tokyo, and there Saihara just received sudden instructions from the headmaster, saying that they are going to the Novoselic embassy to act as SPECIAL bodyguards for Sonia, which the headmaster said that Naegi, Maizono, Akamatsu and Saihara himself would be excused from classes.

"Please tell Naegi, Maizono and Akamatsu what I told you just now."

"Yes sir."

"You four will guard the Novoselic princess during her stay here."

"Yes sir."

"And if possible find out and take down the masterminds."

"Yes sir."

"I will excuse you from classes so that you can concentrate on your mission. Understand?"

"Yes sir."
