Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here, things are taking a turn as the Kuzuryuu manor is being besieged by the zombies, prompting the survivors to evacuate and seek safer grounds…
But something else is taking place…which shifts at the middle of a city…
Well then, read on and enjoy!
Ch. 56: Mirai zaidan no keisei
The scene shifts at the streets where a convoy of vehicles are cruising as they took the router where there are no zombies loitering around as they knew that ramming them through is only a last resort tactic if necessary, and for now they had to avoid the zombie horde as much as possible in order to avoid unwanted complications.
So far the vehicle leading the convoy is doing well in getting the other vehicles to follow and thus far they are doing well as they managed to avoid the zombies whilst getting to an open road with little to no obstacles as of the moment, with Kizakura complimenting the driver, saying that he did a good job in keeping his cool in the face of tense situations like this.
"Heh, you're not bad."
"Really?"
"Yeah. You managed to stay cool after everything that happened until a while ago."
"Yeah."
"You know what to do next?"
"I suppose I do…"
"Then do what you have to."
"Right."
However, Jin Kirigiri noticed that a few vehicles are missing and not amongst the convoy and he began to get worried that his daughter is not there, and Tengan urged Jin to stay calm and not lose his composure, though Jin was starting to get restless given his concern over his only daughter.
"Jin…calm down…"
"I can't…my daughter…she…"
"Don't worry. I'm sure that she's safe…"
"But…but…"
"Believe me, Jin. She is going to be okay. She is the Super High School-level Detective. Have faith in your daughter."
"…"
"So calm down and don't panic, Jin."
"…"
Kizakura interjected and agreed with Tengan, saying that perhaps the convoy where Kyoko is probably took a detour and assured to Jin that the rest of the convoy are on the way and urged Jin to stay cool as he has to lead the others to safety, and Jin reluctantly obliges remembering that he is still the headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy and must guide the surviving students to safety.
"For now, you need to stay focus."
"Okay…"
"You are the current headmaster. You must guide the surviving students."
"Okay…"
"So for now we must lead the students in our care to a safe place."
"Okay…"
"Are we clear on this?"
"Okay…"
After about five minutes the convoy arrived at an intersection and paused, as they had to make sure that they took the right path and not lead the others towards an oncoming horde of waiting and hungry zombies, and there Kizakura offered to go out and scout for possible routes, though Jin and Tengan were hesitant to let the former SHSL Scout to venture out and risk getting eaten and infected.
"Wait, Kizakura…"
"You can't…!"
"Don't worry. I'll be careful…"
"Its still risky…"
"And dangerous!"
"You two worry too much. I'll see to it that…"
"We should think about this carefully…"
"Tengan is right, Kizakura…don't be rash…"
"Oh dear…"
Suddenly, an SUV showed up, where the door opened, which both Kizakura and Tengan were surprised to see who greeted them, as the one who emerged from the SUV turns out to be Great Gozu, and there he greeted Tengan and Kizakura, telling them to follow him as he will lead the convoy to a safe zone, which Tengan asked if Gozu is sure.
"A safe zone?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. We established one and up until now we managed to hold it well."
"Unbelievable…"
"You don't say…"
"Believe me, sirs…we can ensure your safety! So please come with us!"
"Should we, Kizakura?"
"No complains from me, Tengan…"
After hearing the assurance from Gozu, Tengan nodded and told the driver to follow Gozu, which the driver nodded, and there Gozu lead the convoy and avoided the routes and areas that are infested with zombies, and soon arrived at the safe zone where Munakata is leading the safe zone, and after some five minutes, Munakata greeted Tengan, which the two shook hands as Munakata met Tengan a few years ago when Munakata was still a student at Hope's Peak Academy and Tengan was still the headmaster.
"Mr. Tengan."
"Munakata."
"To think we would meet again in such a different circumstance…"
"I would say the same thing."
"And now that we are facing a crisis…"
"Indeed."
"Nevertheless…it's good to see you."
"Same here."
Once the newly-arrived survivors settled down, Jin, Kizakura and Tengan are with Munakata at a meeting room, where the former SHSL Student Council President stared wide-eyed upon being told about how Kimura and Ikusaba found out about what Enoshima did and how the current situation and crisis came about, and he expressed anger and resentment towards Enoshima for causing such a tragedy.
"Unbelievable. To think Enoshima would cause this to happen…"
"I have to admit…we had no idea that Enoshima would be this mad…"
"Her onscreen image really fooled us all. I never knew she would do something THIS WILD..."
"Had I known that Enoshima would be capable of doing something like this…I should have fought back against the Steering Committee...they were the ones who brought her here, as they used their influence to override Kizakura's..."
"What's done is done. What we should do now is work together. I am now proposing to create a task force to combat this ongoing pandemic."
"Huh?"
" What?"
"A task force…?"
Munakata said that he is proposing in forming the Future Foundation as an organization to help combat this pandemic as well as find a way to stop the infection from spreading, which Kizakura said that this would require help from the remaining government agencies like the military and the health officials, which Tengan agreed, saying that the two departments have access to the supplies.
However, Munakata said that the military cannot be trusted after telling the three men about the corruption that emerged within the military and the police, which Munakata brought up the testimonies of the surviving policemen who were forced to fight the zombies with insufficient weapons before they were abandoned and left to die, surprising Jin, Tengan and Kizakura.
"What?"
"That can't be!"
"Whoa-whoa…"
"Sorry, gentlemen…that's the harsh truth."
"Corruption within the military…"
"Now we got ourselves a new problem…"
"How did you know about the corruption within the military, Munakata?"
"Its all because of a former schoolmate of mine…who also graduated from Hope's Peak Academy."
By then, Rika Minami showed up, surprising Tengan as he met her during her term as a student of Hope's Peak Academy, and Minami testified that the surviving high-ranking military officials have an ulterior motive as they sent their soldiers to silence her, and when the military officials believe that she is hiding within the airport they launched a missile and bombarded the airport, killing everyone there even their own soldiers, further shocking the three men.
"What?"
"That's insane!"
"Whoa-whoa…this is much, much worse than I expected…"
"Sorry, boys…that's the harsh truth. Again, me surviving and standing in front of you telling you this is proof that what I told Munakata is the truth."
"This is really disturbing. I never imagined that corruption within the military would be this worse than what I imagined…"
"Now we got ourselves a REAL problem…"
"How did you know about the corruption within the military, Minami?"
"Its all because of a former colleague of mine…the one who discovered it and discovered that the corrupt higher-ups intend to get rid of me for deeming me a threat, even though I never approached them."
Munakata then asked Jin, Tengan and Kizakura if they are willing to join him in forming the Future Foundation and establish a private link to help survivors, find a way to combat the zombies, develop a cure and weed out the corrupt officials, which the three men thought carefully before accepting Munakata's offer.
"Sirs…would you be willing to join me in creating the Future Foundation?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"What I'm proposing would be risky as this involves finding a way to stop the speeding and to stop the corrupt military officials. Are you willing to take the risks?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Yes."

Elsewhere, the scene shows that the vehicle that was not with the ones that Tengan lead are seen avoiding several routes as the driver stepped on the pedal and zoomed past the zombies, and looked around for the fastest route and which ones that have no zombies around, and after some five minutes they saw a huge mall, and to Pekoyama's surprise, she saw other Kuzuryuu vehicles parked, and told Fuyuhiko about it, which the SHSL Gangster was surprised to see what he saw just now.
As the vehicle went to the mall, both Kuzuryuu and Pekoyama saw the Hope's Peak Academy survivors are there, consisting of the following:
- Makoto Naegi
- Sayaka Maizono
- Mukuro Ikusaba
- Aoi Asahina
- Sakura Ohgami
- Kyoko Kirigiri
- Hajime Hinata
- Chiaki Nanami
- Suichi Saihara
- Kaede Akamatsu
- Tenko Chabashira
- Miu Iruma
- Sato
- Natsumi Kuzuryuu
As Natsumi ran and hugged her elder brother, Fuyuhiko asked the others what brought them here, in which Kyoko spoke and said that they found that the routes they took were filled with zombies, and thus the drivers were forced to seek alternate routes but found that there were zombies everywhere, and are forced to find another way.
She said that when they found this mall she directed the driver to head here as she felt that they might find supplies here and see if there are areas that might have supplies of fuel, and at this point the rest of the convoy arrived here, which Fuyuhiko sighed as he realized that though he and his fellow Hope's Peak Academy survivors found a refuge, they got separated from their teachers, and now the teenagers are on their own for the time being.
"So that's how you ended up here."
"Yes, Kuzuryuu."
"I see. At least you guys are okay and unharmed."
"Indeed."
"I guess it can't be helped. We'll have to camp up here inside the mail. Are you fine with this, Kirigiri?"
"Couldn't agree more."
"Then it's settled."
"Apparently."
Things got a bit tense as Chabashira ranted and urged the girls to lock the boys outside the mall so the zombies would eat them, which Saihara, Natsumi and Maizono rebuked her and tells her to stop blaming their current predicament on the boys, though Chabashira said that boys are lechers and must be sacrificed to spare the girls, which Saihara got pissed and shook her by her collar, triggering a bickering amongst the two teens.
"Do you really hate boys so much?"
"Yeah, I do! You boys are all the same! Sex maniacs and all!"
"Not all men are like that!"
"You're a hentai! Boys are hentai! All men are hentai! So it's fitting that you hentai must be sacrificed as zombie chow!"
"You're crazy!"
"Not as crazy as you sex-craved maniacs!"
"Would you stop being bias towards guys?"
"Not a chance!"
