The Spark of Invention.

It was about a week after the meeting with Ragnok, Harry was out exploring his property for any interesting nooks or cranny's, odd shaped trees or streams, or just anything which caught his attention except the cliff, it was then he felt something warm his fingertips tingled his whole body felt a rush of euphoria and suddenly his color contacts began to feel uncomfortable so he quickly took them out to find them disintegrating in his hand,

"Silky," pop "get me home,"

"yes master," pop,

It was worse, he could now feel all the magic around him and in the heavily enchanted cottage it was like suddenly appearing frontstage at a heavy metal concert, he recognized the symptoms his magic was finally awakening but unlike the books where this would be a 'light sensation' this was intense to the point of pain, it would subside in time but it was too much for him,

"Silky, dreamless sleep potion, get me to bed and inform Ragnok,"

he took the proffered potion and gulped it down and a few seconds later blessed sleep took him.

Harry opened his eyes his head pounding, he carefully got up and went to the potion cupboard and drank a headache potion, and also a minor pep up potion, he made a note that having a few potions shrunk and on him at all times might be a good idea, it seemed that the awakening had finished as he felt mostly normal now he called Silky and he had apparently been asleep for the better part of two days, she brought him a plate-full of food and he ate.

The sensible thing to do would be to take it slow and HE COULD USE MAGIC, ahem, and to carefully test his limits because HE COULD USE MAGIC!, um, calm down he told himself you have the mentality of an adult WHO COULD USE MAGIC!

Still being 8 years old there are some things that even the most reasoned mind couldn't resist, and now he could use them he played with all his unpowered inventions some shorted out when powered some exploded and a few worked, he shot outside and unlocked the storage cupboard inside was a broom he had waited soo long to try it.

Silky enjoyed her master finally being just a child he spent most of the day flying on the broom he didn't even bother read the instructions it looked like he belonged in the sky, but something made her a little sad even now she could feel it, her emotions were becoming dull, her magic was getting weak, she knew her life would be short and was glad of her master's care but also worried it would hurt him, she needed to find him someone to take her place but knew he would never buy a house elf, he knew they were alive and the thought of owning another living thinking being disgusted him, after several hours of flying a sore but satisfied Harry landed, ate, and went to bed, Silky left for Gringotts to speak with Ragnok.

It took a few days for Harry to finally calm down, he had shown some restraint in that he had left his foci outfit alone, but now he had got the excitement out of his system the one thing he had been looking forward to was about to happen as he carefully and slowly infused magic into all of it except the headband, he was just unsatisfied with it as it had no real use, every other part had a primary function besides being a magical focus the clothes offered a little protection, the gloves control and the boots acted like a grounding wire that weakened offensive spells directed at him by forcing a little of their effects into the ground, he wandered the cottage feeling antsy, a nervous and intense energy came over him he could almost feel the idea forming in his mind but he couldn't quite pull it together, he needed a change of scenery.

Silky popped Harry to the magical district in France bypassing the muggle areas and appearing in the magical district it was very different from Diagon Alley, Merveille Carré was elegant and colorful as if each shop had agreed to be designed by the same person to keep a consistent but magical look, at the base ground level the buildings were a deep mahogany with gold lines the glittered running through the wood as the height increased the buildings grew lighter until they were a white marble and all the roofs were seating areas for people to eat meals and have picnics providing a truly romantic atmosphere especially at night with the lights of the city glittering around them.

He took in the sight and decided it was better than Diagon Alley, it was bigger and didn't have an air of trying to hide it was just another part of the city, it didn't feel like it was ashamed of itself like Diagon Alley, the attitude was different in the wizards and witches as well in the U.K it was as if they were terrified if the mundanes found out they'd start grabbing pitchforks and lighting fires, in Frances it was more they didn't wanna deal with the mess, more of a minor inconvenience than a major threat, after a few minutes of walking around he headed to the local Gringotts branch curious if it was any different.

He was surprised to see that the inside of the branch looked exactly the same as the one he was used to the only difference was the faces of the goblins, he knew it was odd that he thought more fondly of goblins than his own race but he understood them better, he headed to a nearby teller who sneered at the small unfamiliar human and was confused by the chuckle the small human emitted,

"I chase the smell of gold on the wind, will you aid in my hunt?" Harry asked,

the goblin was shocked at the fact this human knew a goblin greeting and was even more shocked as Harry produced his key, he quickly composed himself and offered Harry a gold,

"I foolishly offered offence, I now offer recompense," the goblin said,

Harry took the coin, "I accept, I am Director Harold, I need access,"

"Of course, my name is Kirlus, please follow me Director Harold,"

"Thankyou Kirlus,"

As with the branch he knew the layout behind the scenes was identical, made sense to Harry, why pay extra gold when you can use the same design instead of paying for a new one, Harry spent a while looking around picking up objects before putting them back, he was so close yet couldn't find whatever he was looking for it was maddening, when asked what he was looking for,

"I honestly don't know, I feel this rush like something wants out but I cannot find a way to let it out, like an urge to make a sword but I cannot find a hammer, I am looking for something, a last part that I am missing I have the runes ready in my head but I need to find it,"

By this time Ragnok had been called over via portkey and seeing Harry recognized what he may be going through, he gave a few orders and their best creators quickly arrived and confirmed that Harry was experiencing Inspiration and if he could find what he was looking for something great could be made, It was only when the local branch healer arrived when it happened, the healer popped his glasses on to possibly have to treat the director if he overdid it, it was then Harry spotted the healer and began jumping up and down,

"YES! THAT'S IT!" he dashed up to the shocked goblin and plucked his glasses off, "so obvious! I NEED A DESK," one was swiftly provided,

"ok now you you and you," he pointed to three random goblins, "I need runstamps 45, 89, 235, and 567," he ordered the first who rushed off, "I need runeset 2, 5 and 29," he said the the second, "and you I need 6 blank stamps and enough ink to fill them, make it blend 2, MOVE" the goblin shot off,

Harry waved his hand over the glasses and duplicated them, he tossed the originals back to their owner and took the lenses out of the copy and threw them away, he made another gesture and the frames grew to 20 times their size just as the goblins arrived back harry began stamping the frames, he took a blank stamp and engraved a few runes on it, stamped the frames and moved on, a manic grin on his face as he went, it only took him a few minutes before all the blank stamps were used and he was done, the frames shrunk back and he infused them with magic empowering the runes, panting and sweaty he handed the frames to the healer and made him try them on,

"well?" asked Ragnok, "what do they do?"

Harry just sat on the floor all his energy gone unaware of the look of awe from the goblin mastercrafters, but the other goblins saw it, the healer glanced around looking through the frames surprise and a smile on his face,

"they are performing medical diagnostics on anyone I am looking at and... you! my office later," he ordered one sheepish looking goblin,

Harry spoke dreamily, "not strong enough to make it permanent, you'd better note down the design before the runes fade,"

Ragnok quickly took the frames and handed them over to the master Runesmith who rushed off quickly to copy the runscheme,

Ragnok looked down at the now exhausted Harry and ordered him to be taken to a private guest room to rest, "Magnificent, the profit from those glasses,"

Harry spoke up, "Med e Specs!" before flopping into the guards arms passed out,

"heh not a bad name, every witch with children will want one, every healer, even squib doctors will, the market is massive, GET TO WORK!" the goblins all dashed off preparing marketing, ordering materials for production, ect.

Harry spent the next year studying hard on all his main mundane lessons, his tutors were delighted by how quickly and easily he learned although he didn't have a photographic memory his recall was excellent and he grasped the subjects with ease, he continued to enjoy himself otherwise, going to theme parks with a goblin provided bodyguard playing with mundane entertainments consoles which surprised him at first as most wizards claimed that 'muggle toys' didn't work around magic, and yet these seemed unaffected, he asked at Gringotts when he was visiting and one of the managers explained that original mundane electronics had poor insulation and ever since they had improved it magic no longer destroyed them, when he asked why wizards still believed they don't work around magic the goblin smiled and said,

"Wizards tend to think mundanes are barley literate monkeys who still poop in buckets, they don't want to know that they are wrong, although that is mostly British Wizards, the rest seem to be improving albeit slowly,"

Harry nodded in understanding, the British magical community did seem somewhat backwards compared to the rest.

It was during this time Harry noticed that Silky was getting weaker, he had known she had a limited lifespan as the information from the vault indicated, she was the first prototype and so had many flaws, she was little more than an extremely lifelike golem with the ability to use magic, but above all she was not a true living being, her emotions were programmed responses which had become more obvious as he spent time with her, even though she was little more than an extremely advanced tool it still hurt to think she wouldn't be around forever.

The Med-e-specs were a huge hit, they had to be regulated to all have the exact same design to stop people invading others privacy but the amount of profit made Ragnok very happy, Harry however as the inventor was able to make his own pair he just had to infuse them with magic periodically until he was strong enough to make the runes permanent, he also added an extra that allowed him to change his eye color at will.

Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardy was not doing so well, the scandal involving Albus Dumbledore had cost it two very well known and highly ranked teachers, the Dark Arts Defense position seemed to only stay filled for a year before some accident caused the teacher to need replacing, and Dumbledore was distracted trying and failing to track down Harry Potter, and so the school's reputation was not as sparkling as it had once been.

A month after the launch of his Specs Harry arrived at the day he dreaded, the house wasn't quiet with the birds outside and the various animals but something felt off, as he walked into the kitchen he found her, sat on the floor with her head looking up her hands on the floor behind her Silky was unmoving, he gently placed his hand on her forehead and was saddened to find his fear was correct she had reached the end of her life as her body had turned to stone.

He sat there for some time silently crying and wallowing in the fact she was gone, she was the first link he had to his family and now she was gone, he was glad though, she had something very few beings had, she knew why she was there and had fulfilled her purpose, he eventually picked her up and carried her out into the garden she was quite heavy but he felt it would be wrong to use magic, he placed her in the center island of a flower bed hoping that she would be happy there, he then went back inside and back to bed.

Several weeks passed and the pain of loss had reduced to a point where he could function again, Ragnok and several of the goblins including Narl and Slagn, Narl sporting a pair of the new Med-e-specs and gushed over them apparently many squib doctors loved them as they had saved several lives already, apparently one lady was in the process of a full blown heart attack and had been misdiagnosed luckily for her as she was walking out the doctor had glanced at her and the specs revealed what was going on he had quickly moved to save her life, upon hearing this Harry was immensely proud of his invention the money it generated was a distant second to the good it was doing.

Harry had taken to spending a lot of time by the cliffs meditating on the feeling the longing to take to the air, he should wait his rational mind told him, it would be an advantage another voice inside him said, and he sat there internally debating. It was nearly two months until his eleventh birthday and he had made his choice, he stood near the cliff and with his eyes closed he lifted the vial to his lips and drank the potion one one swift gulp, he then slipped the empty vial into his pouch and let the feeling overtake him, the next few minutes were a confused blur of feelings, sensations, images, and instinct it took a few minutes before Harry regained control easily slipping into control of his new form and gliding through the sky with ease it was like even his human self was made to fly even in full control flying was second nature and was one of the most incredible experiences he had ever felt, in fact he was so confident he turned northward and headed for the U.K his bird self seemed to know exactly where to go and it only took him about 2 hours to reach land, he quickly found a road and landed after making sure he was in an empty area he transformed back, he pulled a token out of his pocket and held it up.

A massive purple triple decker bus came to a screeching halt right in front of him from out of thin air, although he didn't fall over he was startled silent by the strange bus and it's conductor a skinny teen by the name Stan, after managing to get his voice to work he asked for the Leakey cauldron and took a seat which slid several inches back when the bus launched itself only to stop when stan cast a sticking charm he found it funny to see most passengers slide around but not little kids, when Harry got off the bus he thanked Stan and tossed him and the driver a gallion each much to Stan's delight.

After a quick meeting with Ragnok and a bit of show and tell, Harry was quietly registered In Britain, France and any other country that required it as a Saker Falcon animagus.
