Once the train had left London, Harry silently cast a compulsion charm on the conductor so they wouldn't notice him without a ticket. That way, he could relax during the whole journey without the need for invisibility. After that, he made his way to the first class carriage and made himself comfortable.
Just like the Hogwarts Express, this train had a food and drink trolley service. Harry took out the wallet the Gringotts goblins gave him and he purchased a large roast chicken with salad baguette, roast chicken flavor crisps and some salt and vinegar flavored ones also, a Cadburys dairy milk nut chocolate bar, some fruit pastels and a bottle of sparking apple juice. "I bet Ron would be wide eyed at seeing this" Harry laughed to himself. He shook his head thinking "No more thinking about my enemies for the rest of this journey". He then tucked into his little feast starting with the sandwich, in fact he thought the sandwich looked so tasty, he wordlessly duplicated it with a discreet flick of his wand so that he could enjoy it twice.
After he had finished his feast, he decided to take a little nap, that magic performed by the goblins to remove his scar certainly took a lot out of him.
Harry was awoken suddenly when the train came to an abrupt stop. All the lights in the carriage were out and the muggles were all immobilized. Had the Death Eaters somehow found him? He pulled out his wand, only to feel something like a whip hit his hand and his wand flew out of his hand to be caught by, no, it could not be….. Mad Eye Moody!
"I'll have that, if you don't mind. Petrificus Totalus!" Moody growled at Harry, who fell with a loud thud, completely immobilized to the floor.
Moody then proceeded to drag Harry up off the floor. "Sooooo, ya thought you could just galivant off to wherever tickled your fancy? Well, not under my watch, you think we are all only born yesterday?" He then sets up a portkey from Harry's empty apple juice bottle, grabs onto it, and before Harry had time to think, he found himself on the floor looking up at the ceiling of Dumbledore's office at Hogwarts!
"Nice work, Alastor" praised Dumbledore. As soon as Harry found he could move again, Dumbledore conjured up extremely thick and tight ropes around Harry.
"Well Harry, sorry to burst your bubble, but looks like your little attempt at running away fell flat on the floor, quite literally, didn't it?" Harry could hear somewhere close by a very Ron-like snigger.
"You would have to wake me up pretty early in the morning to think you could have even a shred of hope in thinking you could fool my tracking measures I have in place on you, or think you could steal my fortune from me. Very Slytherin like of you to attempt it though, I'll give you that".
"Now Harry, I believe your two friends here have something to say to you. Maybe they'll convince you not to pull any similar stunts in the future".
Harry then saw Ron and Hermione stood over him, Hermione looking extremely angry and Ron looking like Christmas had come suddenly.
"You foul, loathsome bastard, thinking you can simply betray us, then have the absolute nerve to steal from us like you are entitled to everything and anything!" screamed Hermione in a way worthy of the way Mrs Weasley often screamed, as she slapped Harry in the face with each word that she said.
Then it was Ron's turn. He had Harry's wand in his hand. "Oooooo, what have we got here", before he snapped it in two and threw it behind him, then proceeded to stamp multiple times on Harry's nose. "THAT is for being a total, utter dick head Potter!" He then started kicking Harry in the head brutally.
Harry woke up with a start, his head resting on his table in the pile of rubbish from his little feast from earlier. He looked round for a few seconds, all seem well, thankfully, his kidnap and forced return to Hogwarts had been just a dream. "That'll teach me not to eat so much before sleeping" he thought wryly. He flinched however, when he heard a voice from a speaker above his seat announcing the next stop. "We will shortly be arriving at Doncaster. If you are leaving the train here, please make sure you take all your personal belongings with you. Next stop, Doncaster".
Some gut feeling told Harry he should put his invisibility cloak on before the train reaches the station platform. Good thing he did too, as whilst the train was waiting for it's departure time, Harry felt like he was going to have a heart attack, he saw the unmistakable shabby sight of Remus Lupin and with him a large black dog he assumed to be Sirius in his animagus form.
This made Harry feel even more nervous than during the initial departure from King's Cross. As the train left, he could have sworn he saw the dog look in the direction of the department with his nose twitching fiercely.
Harry didn't take off his invisibility cloak until the train was almost at the next stop, Selby. "Not too long now" he thought looking at the heavy rainfall outside that had just started hammering against the train windows, hoping he wouldn't spot anyone he recognized at the next station before Hull, Borough. He was thinking what not only Ron and Hermione must be thinking about his seemingly sudden disappearance, but what Neville's and Malfoy's etc reactions will be to his absence. He could have gone into his trunk to use the magic screen to find out, but just wasn't in the mood to get up from his seat anymore until the train had reached Hull after feeling shaken up with his close encounter with Lupin and Sirius.
A short while later, Harry could see on the horizon the Humber Bridge, so he knew that he was almost at the end of the line. As the train started slowing down, he could see various rows of houses, a sports field, various shops, various muggle traffic, then on his right, what looked like a sports stadium. A little bit beyond that was a huge tower block, which he presumed was a hospital, judging by the parked up ambulances he could spot in the parking area next to the railway line.
He breathed a big sigh of relief as an announcement came up on the speaker "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now arriving at Hull station, where this service terminates. Please remember to take all of your personal belongings with you and mind the gap between the train and the platform edge."
As Harry left the train, he looked around and was impressed by the station, how it looked like a smaller version of King's Cross. But, enough admiring the scenery, he needed to get a plan togother on how to start his new life in this strange new place called Hull. For starters, he needed to familiarize himself with the city centre.
Despite it being very busy, it didn't take him very long to leave the station. Once he was out onto the main road, he looked ahead, then left, then right, which way should he take to explore first?
On his left, was a pedestrian crossing with various buses coming and going down a road that went down the side of the station he had just exited. Across from that road was what appeared to be a shopping complex. To his right, was a taxi rank and the entrance to what looked like a prestigious hotel. In front of him, directly across the road, was a greyish white building clad with rows of many windows, and above the entrance the words 'H.W Hammond Ltd'. Judging by what could be seen through the windows in the ground floor, this looked to be a department store. "Maybe once I've got to know the area a bit better, I could check the place out, see if I can get a decent outfit or two so I can finally rid myself of Dudley's hand me downs" he pondered to himself.
He decided he would take a left turn and explore the nearby shopping center first. Harry had never had the chance to visit a shopping centre with the Dursleys, so this felt like a very novel experience for him.
He was impressed to find not only fashion stores within this complex, but also a cinema, various restaurants and a large Tesco store. None of the fashion stores had his kind of style he was looking for though, he was looking for something more in between casual and formal, all of the shops in this complex seemed to cater for either or.
And although he was now free of the clutches of Dumbledore and Co, he needed to make living arrangements of some description, even if it meant him not actually residing in Hull, but in one of his many inherited properties Dumbledore had concealed from him for so many years, then commute by portkey to his new education (wherever in Hull that might be) or any new job he found in Hull. Speaking of which….
Harry decided he would check out the list of his inherited properties the goblins at Gringotts left in his new trunk. He went down an alleyway and cast a notice-me-not charm on himself and the trunk to conceal himself from any passers by. Once in his trunk, he went through the green folder located in a filing cabinet in his lounge area. This contained his entire inherited property portfolio.
Harry felt weak at the legs at the revelation at just how much property he owned. He owned 37 different houses in Britain, 8 in Ireland, 15 in Canada, 18 in the US, 20 in France, 4 in Italy, 7 in Spain, 2 in Portugal, 2 in Switzerland, 9 in Austria, 3 in Germany, 17 in South Africa, 1 in Japan, 11 in New Zealand and 19 in Australia! He bit his tounge in anger at the same thought that Dumbledore might have wanted to flog some or all of these properties for a fast Galleon, and he would have been none the wiser! Well, at least Dumbledore doing any of that was outside the realms of possibility thanks to the work of the Gringotts goblins.
By some remarkable coincidence, one of his British properties was located right here in Hull, so that meant he was now all set for his living arrangements, although he would need to charm the property to make it inaccessible to the enemy, especially Dumbledore.
He would find this house to be the largest and most expensive property in Hull. So he definitely wanted to make sure it was well protected as possible.
