Now that Harry knew he had a property already waiting for him in Hull, rather than him having to improvise where he stayed as he originally anticipated during the train journey, he wasted no time in setting off to it's exact location. Due to the nature of the wards protecting this house, even if he was licensed to apparate there, the wards required his first time visit to the house to be via more conventional methods. After finding information on bus times and where each route number in the city served, he took a bus which was fairly busy for the time of the day, it passed through the city centre and through three housing estates before he got to the stop he needed.
Once off the bus, he took a left turn down a, road with pretty average looking muggle homes, if he didn't know any better, he'd say Privet Drive was located on this estate, he paused momentarily at the reminder of his aunt and uncle, and wondered how they might react when Dumbledore somewhat inevitably notifies the two of them of his disappearance. He then took another left turn, then a right turn into the cul-de-sac with the name given in the details for the property which was Apple Blossom Grove and the number 13. The house was located at the very end of the cul-de-sac and was warded to be invisible to muggles. Indeed, all Harry could see at the end of the cul-de-sac was a fence and overgrown bramble bushes.
According to the instructions for accessing the house, he needed to tap the fence three times with his wand. Looking behind him to make sure nobody was watching him, he did exactly that, feeling slightly foolish when nothing happened, but a moment later, the fence disappeared, along with the overgrown bramble bushes and out of the ground rose a large house, set back quite a bit from the end of the cul-de-sac, and there was a winding path flanked either side with conifers leading to a circular paved area with a fountain and behind that, the front door.
Harry proceeded somewhat cautiously towards the house. As he approached the fountain, his heart seemed to skip several beats and his breath was taken away, there were two statues in the fountain, his own parents! His mother appeared to be holding what he presumed to be his infant self. He wondered if there was ever anything like this at his parent's main Godrics Hollow address where they were murdered. Making a mental note to visit Godrics Hollow in the future, he proceeded to the front door which above it had a rounded balcony and a gargoyle of some description right on the edge of the balcony above the door itself. The door was made from the most beautiful oak he had ever seen along with a golden door knob. He didn't even need to touch it though, as the door opened by itself, much to his astonishment and he stepped into the hallway with the door softly closing itself behind him.
The hallway was splendid looking, very cavernous looking considering the size of the house, the flooring and the staircase were made from pink marble, and a scarlet red carpet led through the middle from the doormat which had the Potter family crest on it, and up the middle of the staircase in the middle of the vast hallway. The walls were clad with dark oak cladding and adjourned on the oak cladding were various portraits, some with people in them and some with paintings of buildings or countryside settings. This reminded Harry of the portraits seen on the staircase to all of the floors in Hogwarts. Hanging above him was a very large chandelier.
Harry stopped for a moment to think about which part of the house to explore first, but before he had made his choice, he could hear a door slamming shut from upstairs hurried footsteps near the staircase. Instincts told him to have his wand at the ready, but he lowered it once he saw who was running down the stairs, presumably to greet him - a house elf who was dressed in what looked like a a gold and scarlet velvet toga. They seemed so excited to see him, they tripped over on the last two steps and fell flat on their face, but stood up again immediately before Harry could offer them any assistance.
"Harry Potter, we meets at last!" squeaked the house elf excitedly. Harry bent down to shake his hand with the house elf. "The name is Mitsy", the house elf said. "Nice to meet you, Mitsy", smiled Harry. "I wants to gives yous a grand tour of the house, believe me, Master Harry WILL get a surprise at the end of the tour", Mitsy breathed excitedly. Heart fluttering slightly at the thought of what the surprise could be, Harry followed Mitsy through a door to the left of the hallway.
Through the doorway was a large kitchen, with a polished light blue marble floor, the worktops were a light peach colour and the cupboard doors, kitchen tables and chairs were a graphite colour. Mitsy took Harry through some patio doors from the kitchen into a very large garden, which was in Harry's opinion, disproportionate for the area the house was situated in, but then he also reminded himself that magic can often work in the most mysterious ways.
In this garden was plenty of different types of flowers, trees and bushes, and a huge lawn, all very well kept thanks to the power of elf magic. There was also a greenhouse with a big botanical garden inside, which momentarily reminded him with a pang of Professor Sprout at Hogwarts and with an even bigger pang of Neville Longbottom. He wondered how Neville would have reacted to his disappearance from Hogwarts and wondered if Dumbledore had been paying him as well to be friends with him.
Before he could ponder any further, Mitsy pointed him to the biggest Quidditch pitch Harry had ever seen, you could have fitted both the Hogwarts one and the one he saw just before his 4th year at Hogwarts at the Quidditch World Cup. "Your dad and godfather absolutely loved this pitch, I so wished yous could have enjoyed it with them!" remarked Mitsy with a tear in one eye. Of course, Mitsy wasn't to know yet that Harry had recently been in contact with Sirius via means such as Grimmuald Place. Maybe once he had gotten his head around things, he could invite Sirius to this house and they could enjoy the house and the Quidditch pitch together, but right now, that was obviously out of the realms of possibility without very extensive planning.
Once back indoors, Mitsy showed Harry no less than three incredibly spacious reception rooms, all clad with oak, and the carpets a lovely peach tone, then Harry was shown upstairs. Along the very seemingly long corridor, were dozens more portraits, all eyes were on Harry, yet he didn't feel uncomfortable in the slightest, why should he in his, (he could still barely dare to believe this was true) own house?
There were 7 extensively spacious bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathrooms and walk in wardrobes, and an 8th room which Mitsy said contained the 'surprise'. Harry's own bedroom reminded him a lot of his dormitory back at Hogwarts, with the four poster bed and the Griffyndor styled colour scheme. The ceiling for his bedroom had an enchanted sky a bit like the Great Hall in Hogwarts.
Now, it was time for Harry to be shown his surprise in the 8th room, Mitsy didn't actually walk into the room with him, rather she waited outside. The door closed somewhat slightly eerily behind Harry by itself and the room was full of sunlight just like the bedrooms, the carpet was a pale violet colour and the walls a mango colour, with an enchanted ceiling that looked like water ripples, but was completely empty, apart from a very large portrait in front of him.
What he saw in that portrait made him feel like he was going to have a heart attack from the shock. "Hello Harry, my sweetheart, we finally meet again".
