Chapter 21
Later that evening, Moroha moans as she wakes up to find herself in her bedroom. "Mommy? Daddy?" She grunts as she tries to get out of her bed. "Whoa, not now, kiddo." Inuyasha grabs her gently and put her back onto her bed.
"Daddy? Why am I back home? I should be at Uncle Sesshy's manor." Moroha asks him with worry. Kagome comes into the room with a pink mug with the letter M on it with tea. "You really had us worry. Sweetie." Kagome passes the mug to Moroha. Moroha greedily drinks like her life depended on it.
"But why am I home? Did something happen?" Moroha asks them. From the looks of it, neither parent wants to tell her that she transformed. "Moroha. Sweetie. Let's just say that you went through something awful and it was best that you brought you home." Kagome tries her best to calm the tension down.
That's when Moroha sees the bracelet on her right wrist. "What's this?" She asks as she tries to look at it more closely. "Oh, I forgot that I made that for you and wanted you to wear it." Kagome answers her nervously.
Moroha however isn't buying that lie. "Mommy. I know I'm not allowed to talk back to you, but I know that this isn't any ordinary bracelet. It has a purpose." She said seriously. Kagome sighs in defeat. "You caught me, sweetie. You're right, the thing is that this…" She pulls out the bottle and shows it to Moroha. "… medicine had a side effect that we missed. So far you only took one. As such, when you took one, the medicine must've messed up your demon blood and transformed you. Your father had to use the move to stop you, thus giving me the chance to put that bracelet on you." Kagome explains to her daughter truthfully.
Moroha gasps to hear all of that. "So, this was what transformed me." She only asks. Soon tears begin to form. She cries and hugs Kagome. "Oh mommy. I'm so sorry that I hurt you." She whimpers. Kagome strokes the little girl's hair.
"It's okay, baby. You didn't hurt anyone when you transformed. We had to put a barrier to protect everyone else. You should thank your father." Kagome smoothly spoke and made sure that Moroha hugs Inuyasha.
Moroha hugs Inuyasha. "Daddy." She nuzzles under his chin. Inuyasha returns the gesture. "You're welcome, kiddo. You have nothing to worry about. If anything else bothers you, you must tell either me or your mother."
Moroha nods within his embrace. "I promise."
"Good. Now you need to get more rest. After today's event, you were out." He tucks her back into her bed with her stuff dog and the woobie blanket. Both parents give Moroha a good night kiss, and leaving the door cracked open for the hallway light to slightly light up her bedroom.
Kagome goes the kitchen and goes into her purse to get her phone out and sees she has a missed call. She also sees a voicemail left on the screen.
She pressed the button to hear whoever it was that called her.
Ms. Higurashi. This is Dr. Jurino from the hospital. I need you to come to my office by tomorrow.
Kagome is confused at that part. "Kagome, did someone call you earlier?" Inuyasha asks her. Kagome nods. "Yeah. It was Dr. Jurino. Somehow, she wants me at her office for some reason."
As far as they both know, Dr. Jurino is their top accused subject of the case. But from what Kagome heard on the voicemail doesn't seem too convincing. "I think this is a trap." Kagome prefers her idea him.
"How so? From what Riku informed us that Dr. Jurino has Saki and her brother hostage. I think there's more to this than we think. Besides, he has footage of the interrogation room with Mikoho in custody. They think she's the mastermind." Inuyasha asks her quietly.
Kagome holds her chin. "Maybe it's not them but someone who was close to Saki the first day we went to be subs at the school."
"You don't think it might…" Inuyasha starts off, but Kagome stops him. "This is just a theory, but I might know who it was that is the Purifier."
"Oh, come on, Kagome. You gotta tell me who it is. We're a team remember." Inuyasha reminds her in annoyance. Kagome chuckles. "Lighten up, Inuyasha. Besides I have some questions to ask Dr. Jurino about the prescription she gave us." She narrows her eyes in the end.
Inuyasha can tell when Kagome has an idea up her sleeve, he follows through.
"On that note, Inuyasha…" Kagome crossed her arms with a displeased look. "Care to explain how Moroha swore when you tried to calm her down?"
Inuyasha gulped the lump he somehow didn't know he had. "Well, for starters, we both know how I can swear because of a habit." He rubs the back on his neck, even though the silver strains of hair are spiked up.
"Uh huh. Really, Inuyasha throughout our lives, you even swore when you were just a kid. I could guarantee that your own father didn't had a foul mouth." Kagome raised her eyebrow remembering those times that Inuyasha swore when he was a kid.
"There are times he swore but for it's the right reasons. You know how I had to get that out of my system."
"Yeah, down in the basement. I bet at some point, Moroha accidently heard you say it, didn't know it was a very bad word to begin with." Kagome pokes his chest with her one finger.
Flashback
"Daddy, I need to go potty." Moroha cries out as she does a few punches. Inuyasha holds the punching bag still. "It's just across from the hall, kiddo." He points to the door on the other side of the hall. Moroha quickly runs and locks the door. Thinking he's in the clear, he flexes his knuckles.
"That bastard will pay for what he did to me and Moroha. I swear the next time I see him, he's gonna pay." Inuyasha does some slashes on the bag that's imperious to his effects. But little did he know that Moroha heard that word while she was in the bathroom.
End of Flashback
"And thanks to you, we have a fowl-mouth daughter. As such we cannot have her swear around other people. We'll have to tell her in the morning." Kagome groans as she sits down the bed. "Honestly, Inuyasha. Don't you ever think before you act. Or in this case, think before you speak."
Inuyasha can tell that Kagome has a point. No matter how much they love each other, there are times that whenever Inuyasha swore, Kagome was fine with it as long as it's appropriate to the topic. But this is different. Moroha knows that one word. 'At least it's not the ones I don't like.' Kagome thought in releif.
"I didn't know that she would say that. I was surprised that she said it while I was in the barrier with her. That's why I had to remain calm in the process so it wouldn't affect her more." Inuyasha reasons as he goes into his walk-in closet to get a white shirt and red pj pants. Kagome goes into her own to find a pink tank top with a green pair of flannel pj pants.
"Tomorrow, we'll talk to Moroha after we go see Dr. Jurino. At least tomorrow is Saturday. So we don't need to be at school. As such we need to have my mom look after her while we get this mess cleaned up." Kagome gives her plan out. Inuyasha doesn't need to be reminded twice. He knows exactly what to do.
The next morning, Kagome is the first one to wake up due to the sunlight seeping through the curtains in the bedroom. She turns to her other side to see that Inuyasha's gone before she woke up. She looks at her phone to see it's only eight am. 'Might as well check on Moroha.' She thinks to herself. She grabs her green fluffy robe and heads into Moroha's bedroom. She opens the door to see that the bed is empty,
"Moroha?" She gasps as she tries to look around the bedroom. Before she goes onto her phone to check the cameras around the house, she hears grunting from downstairs. She presses the camera link to the one in the basement and can clearly see that Moroha is punching the bag as hard as she could. "Honestly." She groans and heads down to the basement.
Moroha gives one good punch before getting down to her knees. "Ok, you're done for a break." Inuyasha said as he gives her a bottle of water. "But I need to get used to hone onto my demon blood. I don't understand why I can't remember when it happened." Moroha sighs in frustration.
Inuyasha can relate to that completely. According to Sesshomaru, whenever Inuyasha turns into a full demon, he can't recall his memories of the event. The only way to revert his transformation is to get the sword their father Toga created with his fang with the help of the demon swordsmith Totosai to do the trick.
"Moroha." Kagome enters the gym to see her daughter and husband in their work out clothes. "I thought I told you to get some rest. You're not fully recovered."
Moroha looks down in shame. "I know, mommy. I just woke up and wanted to come down here to get stronger so I can control my demon."
Kagome kneels to her level. "Moroha, sweetheart. I know how strong you are. We both know that. Even when you're down for the count, it's important to get as much rest as possible so you can fight another day. But for now, you need to stop for today because me and daddy have some work to take care of."
Moroha hugs her. "I'm sorry mommy." She apologizes in the embrace. Kagome returns the hug. "There's nothing to be sorry about. You just thought that you were doing the right thing. I'm proud of how you're doing. Even your own father is helping you greatly."
Just hearing that made Inuyasha blush but prideful for what he was capable of. "Never doubt yourself, Moroha. We always have faith in you." He adds. Moroha nods. She then noticed the bracelet on her wrist. "Mommy, what's with this? Why can't I take it off?" Moroha asks as she tries to yank the piece of jewelry off of her wrist.
"I'm afraid that can't be done. You see, I had to put that on you in order to keep your demon spirit intact. If this were to come off, you'd transform and go on a terrible path. We can't let that happen." Kagome sadly explains to her child.
"Just promise me that you won't take it off." Kagome takes hold of the child's shoulder. Moroha nods with her little pinky out. "Let's make it a pinky promise." She said cutely. Kagome holds out her pinky and curls around the child's. "You too, daddy." Moroha turns around to face him. Inuyasha can see how serious this has become. "I promise." He only curling his clawed pinky around Moroha's clawed pinky as well.
