Thank you to everyone who reviewed! Just wanted to go over a few things. First of all, vampires can not reproduce…at all in this story. I found the whole Renesmee and Jacob thing weird. While he might not have thought of her like that at the time, it doesn't dispel the fact that he knew he WOULD one day. I just wanted to make that clear up front. I also don't like stories where Jasper is like a wounded puppy, so I'm trying to go a different way with it. While he won't be overtly aggressive, I am trying to keep him as in character as possible my interpretation of his character at least. I've never like how Renee was portrayed, so Blair's point of view on her mother will be different than Bella's. While Jacob will be in this story, Paul will appear more. Again, no love triangle, but you'll get to see the extent of their relationship in this chapter. I hope you enjoy, and please review if you can!
On the day they were meant to leave, Blair was putting labels on her boxes to be shipped when Phil came in. He was closer to the eldest daughter, who'd tried hard to get to know him, compared to the perpetually shy youngest one.
"Make sure that Mom sends these off. I paid 20 dollars for each of these." Phil grinned at her, knowing she was telling him because her mother would forget. Blair never treated Renee like a child, unlike Bella, but knew how forgetful she could be.
It had taken her all week to convince her parents to let her drive her car up to Forks by herself. Bella would be flying, and Blair would be damned before she let herself be driven around in her father's police cruise. She would never leave Peter and Charlotte's gift behind.
"Excited to see your father?"
"Yeah," She said, stacking the boxes by the door, "Ready to see us go?" Phil shook his head at her teasing tone. Regardless, Blair knew it to be true and she couldn't blame him. Phil had tried his hardest to get to know them, but being as young as he was, wasn't entirely sure how to connect with two teenage girls. While Blair was a hockey fan, she'd taken the time to watch baseball with Phil, a gesture he appreciated as it gave them something to talk about. But he deserved time with his new bride, and her mother, who despite what Bella thought, had sacrificed her 20's to raise two girls.
Phil grabbed her bags to take them out to the car. She grabbed his arm and looked him in his eyes.
"Take care of her, yeah?"
"Always." His voice was sincere, and she had no doubt he'd follow through. Her mother appeared at the door, smiling at her husband as he passed with her bags.
"Almost ready, baby girl?" Blair nodded, "You'll call every time you stop, won't you?"
"Of course, Mom. Both you and Dad." And Peter and Char. The couple had made sure she had enough money to stay at the higher-end hotels, despite her protests.
"You sure you want to do this?" It was a question her mother had asked countless times since the decision was made. She wanted her daughters to be happy, even if it meant staying away from her husband while he was on the road. Another part of her desperately wanted to bask in the newness of her marriage.
"Mom, I'll be fine. Even more time to watch hockey with Dad." Renee gave her a strained smile.
"I know you will be but…" She trailed off, glancing down the hall. Blair rolled her eyes.
"Bella will be fine, Mom." Her mother had asked Bella the same question even more than she had Blair. The girl was a terrible liar, but had said the lie so many times, it had almost become convincing. Almost.
"She loves Phoenix. Forks is rainy and dreary. I just don't know how she'll adjust." Renee bit her lip in thought.
"Bella is a big girl. She can deal with Forks until you guys settle or until she graduates."
"I suppose you're right." Blair gave an exasperated sigh. Her younger sister considered herself the model of maturity and wise decision-making. In reality, she was just another teenager too self-isolating to fit in with her peers. Sure their mom was flighty, but she cared. The bills were always paid, albeit late sometimes when Renee forgot, but it wasn't terrible. The lights had never been shut off.
Bella was 17 and had never even had an after-school job. Blair just couldn't understand how Bella had gotten the impression that she was more of an adult than their mother just because Renee liked to live life. So what if Renee switched hobbies like people switched underwear? She went to work everyday and made sure there was food on the table. Charlie's child support checks always went where they were supposed to, and Renee never let her daughters go without.
"Where is Sorrowful Sue anyway?"
"Blair," Her mother reprimanded, "She's out back digging up a cactus." No doubt looking forlornly into the distance, pondering her fate, she thought crossly.
"Be nice to your younger sister, Blair." 'Be nice to your younger sister' was a phrase Blair heard a lot growing up. No need to hurt Bella's delicate feelings.
"I'm always nice." Her mother snorted, giving her a skeptical look.
"She's not a china doll, Mom." Renee rolled her eyes and huffed.
"I know that, Blair." She smirked at her mother's exasperated tone, before putting on a straight face, sensing her mother's worry. She wrapped her arms around Renee, and put her chin on her shoulder.
"I'll take care of her. I promise." Her mother smiled.
"I know you will. You always have." Blair grabbed her remaining duffel bag and followed Renee out the door. Bella was waiting by the car with Phil, a small cactus in her hand.
"I'll see you in two days," Blair said.
"Be safe," Her little sister replied. She nodded before hugging her mother and Phil goodbye.

Two Days later
Blair drove into the familiar town of Forks, a town with a population so small, you'd miss it if you blinked. Her mother had tucked tail and ran when she was only a year and a half old. She had no doubt that Renee had loved Charlie but couldn't entirely blame the woman for running. She's gotten pregnant with Blair at 20, with Bella following 11 months later, Irish twins.
Renee had looked around at her life and realized that if she didn't get out soon, she'd be well and truly stuck. Charlie wouldn't leave the town he'd grown up in, the town where he was on his way to being promoted to sheriff. Now that she was older, Blair could understand why they hadn't worked out. Renee had the desire to see the world beyond the tree-covered town of Forks, Washington, while Charlie was content to never go beyond its borders. Different dreams for the future just didn't mesh. Love just wasn't enough, despite what the Beatles said.
She pulled into the familiar driveway with an unfamiliar monstrous, red truck parked in it. She smiled as her father rushed out to meet her, relief that she's made it safe on his face. She'd called him every time she's stopped, but to a father, she wasn't safe until she was in his sight. Blair jumped out and gave him a warm hug.
"Glad you made it. Already got the hockey on."
"Awesome. Did you resurrect this monster from the junkyard?" She asked, pointing to the behemoth. Charlie blushed.
"No," He said tartly, "Bought it off Billy Black for Bella. Jacob practically rebuilt the engine. I figured you wouldn't want to drive her around everywhere." Blair lifted an eyebrow and nodded, a smirk on her face.
"I guess I can appreciate why you did it. We start school on Monday?" Charlie nodded. Bella had been convinced they should start school immediately. Blair outright refused, saying she needed time to get settled. Bella felt too nervous to go by herself. There would undoubtedly be lots of staring and Blair was better at dealing with it than she was.
"I ordered pizza so Bella wouldn't have to cook. And we both know you wouldn't volunteer for it." Blair elbowed him but knew it to be true. She'd inherited her cooking skills from both Charlie and Renee, two people who would have no doubt starved if they'd stayed married.
Charlie grabbed her duffel bag and lead her inside. The layout hadn't changed, not that she had expected it to. Her father was a creature of habit. She followed him up the stairs and up to her room. Thankfully, Renee had argued against buying house with only one bathroom when she'd found out she was having a girl. Blair and Bella would share a bathroom instead, and since her younger sister didn't own an ounce of make-up, it left plenty of room for her own stuff.
"I'll leave you to unpack….I'm glad you're here, Blair." She smiled as he left. He never hovered.
The night was filled with unpacking, pizza, and hockey. Bella retreated to her room, and Blair knew she was going to cry herself to sleep. She groaned inwardly, feeling those big sister strings pulling at her. Blair knocked on the door and let herself in, not bothering to wait for an answer. Bella was huddled in her bed, her covers wrapped around her like a cocoon.
"You ok, Bells?" The younger girl sniffled.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Blair sighed before she pulled back the covers and crawled into bed, wrapping her arms around her sister.
"You never know, Bella. You might end up liking Forks better than Phoenix." Bella gave a watery laugh of disbelief but felt comforted by her big sister's presence. Blair waited until her breathing was shallow before she left and went back to her own room. Unfortunately, she knew the exact reason Bella was going to love Forks: A vampire by the name of Edward Cullen.

Charlie was not surprised when he saw his oldest daughter was up by the time he went downstairs to get ready to go fishing. She'd always been an early riser, no matter what time she went to bed. Blair sat at the kitchen island, munching on a pecan swirl and sipping coffee. He poured himself a cup from the pot she made and turned to her.
"What cup are you on?" Charlie asked with a grin.
"Only my second," She replied defensively. He grunted in disbelief in reply.
"What are your plans for the day?" Blair hid a smile, knowing her dad wasn't going to like where she was going.
"I'm going down to the reservation to hang out with Paul." Charlie scowled and eyed his daughter.
"You know I don't like that kid." She snorted. Her father hated Paul and had ever since he'd arrested him for a bar brawl 2 years ago. The boy's temper was legendary.
"I know. You only tell me every time I go see him." The man grunted in reply. He didn't bother to try and dissuade her from going. Paul had never turned that temper of his towards her, and his daughter was stubborn at the best of times.
"Well be careful and be back by 6. We're going to The Lodge for dinner." Blair nodded. She was lucky her father trusted her enough to let her hang out with Paul, so she wasn't going to push. He left to go fishing minutes later. She glanced at the clock and grinned. It was already 7AM. Paul would appreciate the wake-up call.
/
"Who the fuck…" Paul started with a snarl as he opened his front door. He'd been woken up by a loud banging, and had planned to beat the shit out of the person who'd thought it was a good idea to wake him up at 7:30 in the morning, but stopped short when he saw who was at the door.
"You are such a bitch," He growled as he pulled her into a hug. Blair grinned and hugged him back, "When did you get into town?" He moved aside to let her in. She walked past him and hopped up on his kitchen counter.
"Yesterday. Just thought I'd come to see my favorite person this side of Washington….Anyone ever tell you that steroids diminish the size of your package?" Paul gave her a withering glare as he started to make coffee. He'd started to shift a few months ago, thanks to the presence of the Cullens. He was lucky though. He had Sam, who had shifted when the family had first arrived.
Peter knew as soon as it happened, like he did most things that concerned Blair. He'd told her, hoping that it would sway the girl from hanging out with him, but it had the opposite effect. She was now more determined than ever to be there for her friend, even if Paul didn't know that she knew. The shifter made her a cup of coffee and handed it to her. She grinned gratefully. He made his own cup before sitting at the kitchen table.
"You here for good?"
"Yeah. I start school Monday. Still working at the mechanic shop?" He nodded, "I'm surprised you fit under the cars," She teased. Paul smirked at her.
"I don't half the time."
"I came to ask if you wanted to go to the beach. Do you have to work?" He shook his head before getting up.
"Let me get changed." A floorboard creaked, causing Paul to freeze. Blair lifted an eyebrow as he cursed under his breath, a slow, teasing smile coming to her lips.
"Do you have someone over?"
"No." A blush formed under his russet-colored cheeks, betraying the lie. A girl appeared seconds later. Her hair flew in all directions, her mascara was smeared, and she wore one of Paul's large shirts. It was obvious what they had been doing. Her sleepy expression turned to one of confusion and fear when she caught sight of Blair.
"Who…Who is this?" It was obvious she thought that the other girl could be his girlfriend. It told Blair that they probably hadn't known each other very long.
"Sorry to barge in. I'm an old friend of Paul's," She said, taking pity on the girl.
"Oh." The man in question looked wary as Blair gave him a shit-eating grin.
"We're actually going to the beach if you wanna come. Name's Blair by the way." Paul elbowed her lightly. The girl's expression turned uncertain before she shook her head.
"Um I have to get ready for work. Thank you though." She turned around and hurried back into the room. Blair started to giggle, small snorts coming from her nose.
"Shut up, Blair," He muttered. She pointed a finger at him.
"Hey, you're lucky I didn't pretend to be your girlfriend and make a dramatic scene." He ran a hand over his face. That was something his friend would do.
"Do you even remember her name?" The blush returned and she snorted, "I'll just wait outside."
/
"So how's your mom?" Blair asked as they walked along the beach.
"She's good. She's still disappointed that you and I never got together." His mom thought they were destined for each other. She was extremely put out when Paul told her that there was nothing between them, and he meant it. He'd taken her virginity, but it had never been more than that.
Blair had chosen him because he was her friend. She'd watched as girls gave away their virginity to people they thought they cared about, only to be crushed when it didn't work out. She'd decided that she wanted no part in that. She was sexually attracted to Paul so it worked out. It was hard not to be, but there had never been more than feelings of friends, or friends with benefits on occasion, for either of them.
"Poor Sheila. At the rate you're going, she's never going to get grandchildren." Paul scowled. "How many times has Charlie had to arrest you this year?" He went quiet, his face gaining a far off look.
"None…A few things have changed since I last saw you." He didn't continue, but she didn't expect him to. She knew exactly what he was talking about, not that he knew that. Paul had been strong before the shift. He could now easily kill someone if he hit them.
People thought Paul was all cocky smirks and a bad temper, and to an extent, he was. But Blair remembered the way he looked the summer his father ran off. She remembered when he got two after-school jobs to help his mother with the bills. There was more to Paul than that.
"Well you know I'm here if you want to talk." She didn't press further, and he was grateful. She never pried but made it clear that she was always there for him. "Besides, we both know I'm the only one who will listen to you bitch." Her teasing tone worked. His expression lightened and he rolled his eyes. He ruffled her hair before throwing an arm around her.
"Plenty of women find me charming," He smarted.
"It doesn't count if you can't remember their names."

Blair returned by six as promised. Bella looked sullen as they ate at The Lodge but attempted to make conversation with Charlie. She went straight to her room when they got back, leaving Charlie and Blair alone to watch TV. It was his turn to choose a channel, so instead of her favorite sport, he put on a football rerun. Blair lasted 30 minutes before going back to her room to call her mother.
She smiled affectionately when she got her mother's voicemail. Renee had, no doubt, lost her charger again. She shook her head before dialing Peter and Charlotte's familiar number.
"Where are you?" She asked, trying to decipher the background noise when he answered.
"Brazil. Char wants to go through South America before going to Europe. Garrett wants us to come to Germany, but Char wants to go to England first. The dude won't go anywhere near that country." She giggled. Blair had never met Garrett but had heard plenty from her vampires. Being a Revolutionary War hero when he was changed, the man still held a grudge against England.
"I don't really understand that. It's been well over a century. I love the accents," Blair said dreamily. Peter huffed.
"He's a stubborn asshole. He doesn't even like the Beatles, Blair. The Beatles!"
"Peter…you don't like The Beatles." He was more of an Elvis fan. Blair had reminded him that he wasn't a greaser from the movie, 'The Outsiders', and he could like them both. This prompted a long rant about loyalty and then a scolding when Peter realized that she's stopped paying attention.
"B, I don't like The Beatles because I have principles. Garrett is just being stubborn."
"He's not the only one," She muttered. He chose to ignore it before moving on.
"You start school on Monday?" She took a shaky breath.
"Yeah, and I'm nervous about it thanks to you." And she was. It was a completely uncharacteristic emotion to the girl since she met Peter and Charlotte. Being around them had made her confidence soar. Now she was going to meet their sire, the vampire who'd fought in the Civil war, only to be thrust into the vampire version of it.
It was intimidating just to think about. They expected her to be his friend, without the added benefit of his knowledge that she knew his progenies.
"You'll be fine. Jasper will love you just as we do," Charlotte soothed, her melodic voice coming over the phone. Peter was positive that Jasper would love her in a completely different way.
"He's the famed Major of the South. You really think he's going to want to befriend a teenage girl? Especially, when you guys have said he's not very social to begin with? Why can't I just avoid them?" She whined. Peter shared a look with Charlotte. They probably shouldn't have told her about that title. Thankfully, they had let out his 'god of war' reputation.
"Just be your normal, smartass self and you'll be fine. Oh and compliment Rosalie on her shoes. She loves it."
"And the others?"
"Emmett will be easy to get long with. Alice will love you if her visions tell her to, and Carlisle and Esme only care about their coven's happiness. It'll all work out and you'll be protected until we get back." Blair narrowed her eyes.
"What about Edward?"
"I honestly don't give a fuck if he likes you. It'll be better for me if he doesn't so we don't have to hang out with him." Peter figured his open distain for the penny-headed vampire would probably bias Blair against him but couldn't bring himself to care. Edward's judgement of Char and his lifestyle was always evident every time they visited Jasper. Edward, himself, had been off his "vegetarian" diet before, and had lived a life similar to their own.
The younger vampire's dislike of him probably wasn't helped by the fact that Peter blasted this fact in his mind every time they were around one another. He felt great satisfaction every time Edward's judgmental expression turned to one of shame.
"Whatever. I still don't get why I have to be friends with them in the first place." Blair's voice brought Peter out of his musings.
"Vampires attract other vampires. It's for our peace of mind." Peter threw Charlotte a grateful look.
"Alright. Alright. So are you enjoying your time without me?" There was a hint of insecurity in her voice that Charlotte didn't like. They loved the girl more than she knew.
"Not the same without you, sugar. Although we do have time to catch up on other things," Peter said suggestively. His mate elbowed him as the girl snorted.
"Like me being around has ever stopped you. Besides your jizz is the reason there's glitter in the world." Click. "Hello?"
Please let me know what you think. Jasper is in the next chapter so be prepared! This isn't quite a slow burn, but they won't immediately be a couple. I'm already working on the next chapter, so I'm hoping to have it up by Sunday.
