This chapter has quite a bit of Jasper and Blair in it, plus a little bit of fluff. The timeline is a bit different, as the van scene won't happen until the next chapter.

"What the hell do you mean, Alice?" Jasper slightly snarled.

"I mean I've finally had a vision of Blair that means something. As soon as she hugged you, it happened." Jasper shook his head in denial. They were all gathered in the living room. Rosalie was perched on Emmett's lap, and Esme and Carlisle sat on the couch together. Alice was looking up at him, a stubborn look on her face.

"Are you sure, Alice?" Carlisle asked. It was unprecedent. Human mates weren't exactly rare, but they were uncommon. Only a smattering of turnings was for that reason, and it was almost always by accident. Carlisle, being the religious man he was, believed that God fated a few select humans for life as a vampire's mate. But two sisters mated to two vampires in the same coven? He had never heard of such a thing.

"Positive. I saw her as one of us…with you, Jasper. You were so happy." Alice had a small smile on her face.

"I don't…I'm not…" Jasper started, running a hand through his hair.

"So, there are two humans damned to this life?" Rosalie asked, her tone disgusted. Jasper flinched.

"This isn't about you, Rose," Alice said sharply, "You have your mate. Not all of us have been that lucky." Rosalie opened her mouth to retort before Emmett sent her a look. She closed it. She'd never agree to sentencing a human to this life, but what Alice had said stuck a cord. She was lucky that she had found her husband. Jasper, Alice, and Edward had been alone for as long as she'd known them. Even when the former two had been together, it was glaringly obvious that they weren't mates.

"I would know if that were the case," He argued, ignoring Rosalie's statement completely. He didn't hold the same prejudice against this life like she did, but the thought of a human accepting his past was difficult to understand. Most vampires couldn't hear his name without cringing in fear.

"Humans are different, son. The bond isn't complete until…" Carlisle trailed off, slightly uncomfortable. Jasper understood why. Vampires mated to other vampires tended to know immediately. A vampire mated to a human tended not to know for sure until physically intimate. There was still a pull, like Rosalie felt with Emmett, or even Edward with Bella.

"I haven't felt the pull," He argued. Alice fixed him with a glare.

"Don't lie, Jazz. You never would have agreed to be alone with her if you didn't. She frustrates you because you won't admit it to yourself." He opened his mouth to deny it before snapping it closed, grinding his teeth together. Alice was right.

The girl frustrated him, and he'd even admit that he was attracted to her. It was almost like a game to see who would cry 'uncle' first. But he'd agreed to tutor her, something he'd never done before, unable to tell her no. He inhaled sharply through his nose before sitting down and rubbing his face in confusion. A hand came to lay on her shoulder. Esme was looking over at him, an encouraging smile on her face.

"No one says that you have to have it all figured out right now. But, Jasper, out of every one of us, I honestly believe that you deserve this the most. If you have a chance to be truly happy, you should take it." He sighed. This wasn't a decision to be made lightly. If he accepted the bond, there was no going back. Vampires only mated once.

"You could do worse," Emmett said with a grin. Jasper smirked. Yes, he could definitely do worse.

On Monday, Blair frowned when she saw the silver Volvo in the parking lot. And so, it begins. Bella didn't notice, or at the very least, didn't know it was Edward's car. It had started snowing that morning, and she smiled happily. Blair loved cold weather. Snowflakes fell in her hair, and she laughed as Bella trudged ahead, careful not to trip. A Phoenix girl to the core, her sister hated the snow.

"Having fun?" She turned to the voice. Jasper was grinning down at her, snowflakes in his hair.

"What's not to love? My favorite season is fall, but winter is great too. Hot Chocolate. Warm blankets, and Christmas! I get a cold every year, but it gives me the chance to watch 'Golden Girls'." They began to walk towards the school, shocked expressions following them.

"Golden Girls?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow, readjusting his backpack.

"Hey, don't knock it. If I were to grow old, I'd love to be like Blanche." Jasper had no idea who Blanche was, but that wasn't what had caught his attention.

"If you grow old?" Blair cursed herself briefly before shrugging nonchalantly.

"Nothing is guaranteed." He looked slightly disturbed at that, so Blair grasped for a different subject.

"How was your weekend?"

"Eventful." Jasper didn't elaborate, but his voice sounded strained.

"I see your brother is back," She commented, nodding to the Volvo as they passed.

"I told you he would be."

"You did. I hope he's gotten over his issues with my sister." Jasper pursed his lips in displeasure as they neared her history class.

"He doesn't have an issue with your sister," He replied sternly. Blair gave him a half-smile, lifting an eyebrow.

"Sure, he doesn't. See you in class." She disappeared into her first period, leaving Jasper slightly annoyed. He wasn't sure if the possibility of being with this girl forever was a blessing or a curse at this point.

/

Blair was on her way to lunch when she spotted a scene that made her smile. Emmett was pelting snowballs at Jasper and Edward. The two seemed to be dancing just out of the way, constantly aware of the eyes on them. The bear of a vampire grew frustrated, throwing the snowballs at an almost inhuman speed. Rosalie and Alice sat on top of the picnic table, out of the line of fire.

"Emmett," Rosalie called warningly. He seemed to heed it, slowing down slightly as Jasper sent a heap of snow careening towards his face. It landed right on target, causing Emmett to curse and attempt to retaliate. Blair saw an opportunity that might just get her in trouble, but it was just too hard to resist.

Jasper hadn't noticed her yet, too distracted trying to dodge Emmett's rain of snowballs. She bent down and quietly gathered snow in her hands. Emmett caught sight of her, and Blair put a finger to her lips, signaling him to be quiet. His grin became a toothy smile, and he upped his assault on his brothers.

Alice nudged Rosalie and nodded to where Blair was standing, just out of reach of Jasper, with a perfectly formed snowball in her hand. The blonde couldn't help the amused smirk that came to her face, wondering if the human would have the balls to actually throw it at the intimidating vampire.

"Psst, Hale." Jasper whipped around at the sound of her voice only to get a face-full of snow. A direct hit. His family dissolved into laughter, while Blair smile up at him innocently. His shocked expression turning into a dark grin. Blair sensed the shift as Jasper bent down and gathered a heap of snow into his hands. He couldn't throw it at her. Even if it was only powder, he could still hurt her with the force behind one of his throws. He could, however, dump it all over her.

"Oh, hell," She said before taking off towards the building, Jasper right on her heels. The ankle- high white flakes seemed like a curse now as she had to pick up her feet higher to run, not that she thought she could get away. Blair had barely made it ten feet before the vampire caught up with her and unceremoniously dumped the snow over her head.

She shrieked as it went down her neck and into her shirt. Jasper smirked down at her, watching her shake her shirt free of snow frantically. He began to regret his decision as her body heat melted the ice, causing her shirt to become slightly see through as it clung to her body.

"Satisfied?" Blair asked laughingly.

"Not even close," He murmured. She looked up at him, sensing his tone. Her body flushed slightly at his expression, feeling warmth curl into her toes. 'Ugh. Don't read too much into this. He's still a man' she thought.

"Now I'm wet and cold. At least I only hit you in the face." Jasper snorted at her defense.

"All's fair, darlin'" Her breath caught at the nickname. 'No. No. No. Don't react.' She chanted in her mind. She was acutely aware that his family was watching but didn't really care at the moment. Jasper looked her up and down. Not thinking about his next action, he pulled off his sweater, revealing a short-sleeved shirt underneath, and handed it to her.

Blair's breath hitched, and he froze. His scars. She was close enough to see them. He stood stock still as her eyes roamed up his arms and up to his neck, taking in the crescent-shaped scars that littered most of his body. Jasper waited for the disgust to creep into her emotions, but it never came. Instead, a white-hot streak of lust shot through her and his eyes furrowed in confusion.

"They're beautiful," She murmured before shaking her head, and blushing in embarrassment, "Um. You won't get cold?" Blair asked, still unable to take her eyes off him. He shook his head, almost unable to form words.

"I have a jacket in my locker…You're not going to ask about them?" She cocked her head to the side and grinned impishly at him. A part of her hurt for him, knowing that most reactions to seeing his scare weren't likely favorable. But he wasn't a man who wanted pity, and she wasn't a girl to give it to him.

"I'm not that rude." His mouth dropped open as the girl pulled on his sweater, "Thank you. I'll wash it and bring it back." With that, she winked and flounced off to the lunchroom, eyes following her the entire way.

"What was that about?" Edward asked, coming to stand beside him. He ignored him, not taking his eyes off where she had just disappeared to.

"Bro, you've missed a lot," Emmett said. Jasper left it to his boisterous sibling to explain, making his way to get his jacket, more confused about the elder Swan than ever.

/

Blair was a little lost as she walked through the lunch line. She'd finally seen them, and they were just as beautiful as she imagined they'd be. They were just like Peter and Charlotte's, but there was something darkly desirable about them on him. She had to leave before she made an even bigger ass out of herself and tried to touch one of them. And she was wearing his fucking sweater. It smelled like him, like the desert after a storm. It was downright sinful.

Lauren and Jessica zeroed in on her as soon as she made it to the lunch line. Jessica hadn't approached her since the day she'd apologized but being around Lauren seemed to give her courage. Bella walked up with them, giving her a confused look.

"Blair, since when are you and Jasper Hale close?" Lauren asked as they fell in line behind her. Bella had caught sight of the Cullen table, freezing when she noticed that there were five people present.

"We're not," She replied, not bothering to look at the girl and nudging Bella along. Her sister blushed and bypassed the line, only grabbing a coke.

"Then what was that outside?" Lauren continued, determined to find out why Jasper Hale was talking to the bitchy senior who wasn't near as pretty as her. He'd never even glanced her way.

"Nothing," Blair replied as she picked up some chips.

"But he gave you his sweater!"

"No, he didn't."

"You're wearing it!" Lauren slightly shrieked, causing Jessica to look between the two nervously. They'd all seen Jasper hand over his sweater to Blair.

"No, I'm not." The girl got fed up and stomped past her, Jessica trailing her footsteps. Bella waited for her before following to the empty table her sister usually sat at. She seemed to want to get away from her group for the day.

"Mr. Hyde's back," Blair commented, shaking her chocolate milk.

"Don't call him that," Bella muttered. Blair saw Edward frown and look down at the table, his expression slightly ashamed, "What was happening outside with you and Jasper? You ARE wearing his sweater." She sighed.

"We're just friends. Friends joke around. He got my shirt soaked and gave me his sweater. Nothing more."

"Do you like him?" Bella pressed. The older girl saw Jasper glance over at their table, obviously listening in.

"I'm not masochistic enough to like someone who will never like me back." She pulled out a Vogue from her bag and started to flip through it, hoping to appear disinterested. Bella glanced back at their table. Edward was talking to his family intently, a frown on his otherwise perfect face. Jasper looked annoyed, glancing at Blair periodically.

"I don't know. He seemed pretty chummy earlier. And I've seen you looking at him. You're obviously attracted to him." Blair snorted.

"Everyone is attracted to him. I'm realistic, not blind." Bella blushed, "And besides. He doesn't need some girl panting over him. He gets enough of that from everyone else, and he deserves more respect than that. I'll keep my hormones in check around Jasper, you hold Edward accountable for how he treated you, and we'll both be fine." She watched as her sister glanced at the table again. Edward was staring straight her. She looked down and blushed again.

Blair frowned at her, "Maybe we both need to control our hormones."

"Shut up," She hissed. Her older sister just wiggled her eyebrows and flipped the page of her magazine.

Jasper listened intently to the pair's conversation, slightly disturbed at hearing Blair's thoughts on their relationship. She didn't believe he liked her, which wouldn't have been a concern as they'd only known each other a little over a week; but the way she said it made it seem like she'd never allow herself to like him.

He was slightly touched when she'd said he deserved more than to have some girl drool over him, and she was right. But Blair wasn't just some girl. He wanted her to be interested, to allow herself to be interested. He felt that she was attracted to him, but she always changed the subject or squashed the feeling completely before it came to its full potential.

"You need to stay away from her," Edward murmured. Jasper fixed him with a glare. Being years younger than him with a more innocent past, the mind reader had no right to order him to do anything.

"Funny, coming from you," Rosalie hissed. She may not agree with talking to the humans, but a big part of her desperately wanted the man who was like a real brother to her to be happy.

"I have better control." Jasper rolled his eyes. If he didn't have to feel everyone's blood lust on top of his own, there wouldn't be a problem with his control.

"Can it, Edward. Her scent is a hundred times calmer than Bella's," Emmett spoke up.

"I'm just saying," Edward started.

"Don't act like you don't have every intention of talking to Bella in Biology," Jasper retorted. Edward's mouth went into a thin line.

"Can you hear anything from them?" Alice asked, trying to keep the peace.

"Not from Bella, and I'm not even trying with the other one."

"Her name is Blair," Jasper corrected sharply. He watched as the girl in question got up to throw her tray away, Bella following with one last glance at their table.

"Careful, Jasper. Vampires have trouble with your past. She won't be able to handle it." He flinched at his pseudo-brother's words. He heard the man wince and looked over to see Rosalie's nails gripping his shoulder, a displeased look on her face.

"Yes, she will," Alice snarled. Edward sighed. Out of all his family members besides Carlisle, he was closest to the clairvoyant vampire, but that didn't mean she was closest to him. Jasper had always been and would be, until she found her mate, her priority. Rosalie's expression took on a pensive yet unyielding turn. Seeing he'd get no reprieve, Edward shrugged, and they all headed to class.

By the time Computer Science class rolled around, Blair was left wondering why Jasper was so quiet in Calculus. Had she done something wrong? Had she said something wrong at lunch? Should she have said they were acquaintances instead of friends? She rolled her eyes at herself and the girly thoughts running through her mind. Three more months and she'd be graduating. Her instinct at this point was to tell Peter to go to hell on this whole situation and go back to ignoring them until after the playing field was more even. But it was too late. Blair was invested.

Her eyebrows shot up as she entered the room. Instead of the shy junior that usually sat beside her, Rosalie Hale had taken up resident in the seat next to hers.

"Hi."

"Um…hi?" Emmett was sitting in his normal seat, periodically shooting furtive yet encouraging glances their way.

"You can sit down," Rosalie said gently. Blair cautiously did so.

"Not that I mind, but what's with the seat swap?"

"I just…" Rosalie paused, biting her lip. Blair could tell she wasn't nervous, but almost wary.

"So, you're Jasper's twin?" The blonde smiled fondly, grateful that she wouldn't have to explain herself. The conversation at lunch had her determined to at least get to know the girl that was made for her favorite brother.

"Yes." She wasn't usually so hesitant, but it had been years since she had had a full-on conversation with a human.

"Are you sitting here because of him?" The vampire finally sighed. The teacher started talking then, asking them to work on the semester project for the period. It was a stroke of luck for the two, giving them time to talk. Rosalie turned back to her.

"Honestly, Jasper has never shown interest in anyone, so I wanted to at least talk to you." Blair bit her lip and shook her head.

"I think you've misinterpreted. I wouldn't say he's interested."

"I would," Rosalie shot back quickly, "You don't strike me as someone overtly humble or self-denying." The challenge in her voice was obvious.

"You're right. I'm neither, but I also don't assume either. And attempting to start anything with your brother would be complicated and pointless, so I'm not after him if that's what you think." The vampire frowned.

"Pointless?" Blair couldn't exactly explain that she was destined to be a vampire, or that her friends had been made vampires by the very man they were talking about. Vampires mated only once with a pre-destined person. And she definitely couldn't be Jasper's mate, someone who would undoubtedly be mated to another powerful vampire. Any relationship would be bound to end, and she just wasn't up for the heartbreak.

"We graduate in three months and all go our separate ways. Like I said…pointless."

"Then why even try to be friends at all if that's your view?" Rosalie's voice had taken on an edge. Blair licked her dry lips before replying.

"I don't know. He's a pretty fascinating person. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to get to know him." Rosalie's expression softened.

"But you're not interested?" She asked smugly.

"No." It sung out a lie, and she had to keep the grimace off her face.

"Do you lie to yourself as well as you lie to other people?" Blair grinned almost ferally at the blonde. Rosalie was testing her out, seeing how far she could push her.

"Better, actually. But you'd know all about that, wouldn't you?" The vampire looked at her in surprise. There was no malice in the girl's words, only understanding.

"Touché. I'm beginning to see why Jasper likes you." The girl rolled her eyes.

"Believe what you want." Rosalie smirked at her in almost affection. Emmett was beaming at them, giving her a wave which she returned.

"Alice and I are going shopping next weekend if you want to come." Blair was almost as surprised as Rosalie that the offer had come out of her mouth.

"Sure. I'd like that." Rosalie nodded before sliding a piece of paper at her.

"Text me."

Bella was waiting by the truck when school let out, practically vibrating with excitement. IT could only mean one thing.

"I'm guessing he talked to you?" She nodded.

"Yeah. He was actually really nice."

"Did you ask him why he was such a douche last week?" Blair asked as they got into the truck. Bella shook her head.

"No. We didn't really talk about it."

"Of course, you didn't," Blair said boredly. She was already tired of this romance and it hadn't even started yet.

"Hey, I'm just glad he's being nice. Maybe it wasn't personal after all."

"Maybe."

/

She knew she'd fucking jinxed herself when she woke up the next morning. She'd told Jasper that she got a cold every winter, and by damn if she didn't have one now. Her nose was stopped up, her throat was scratchy, and her face felt like she'd been sitting in a sauna. Blair trudged downstairs, her body aching with every step she took. Charlie sat at the kitchen table. He eyed her as she entered the room.

"You look terrible. Come here." He reached his hand out and felt her forehead, "You're burning up. Go back to bed. I'll call the school." Blair groaned, before turning around and going back to bed. Charlie couldn't stay with her but promised to call and check up on her.

True to her word the day before, she took her warm blankets, cough medicine, and 'Golden Girls' DVDs down to the couch, and didn't move for the rest of the day. Bella came home after school and plopped down next to her.

"Edward said that Jasper was wondering where you were." Her tone was suggestive.

"Ugh I don't feel well enough for your tendency to read too much into things," Blair replied nasally, ignoring the pleasure that shot through her at Bella's words. Her sister sighed.

"I'll make you some soup."

The next day, she felt better, but not well enough to go to school. Charlie kissed her forehead on his way out. Blair was well into the second season of her show when there was a knock at the door. Wrapping her blankets around herself, she went to answer it. Jasper stood in the doorway, towering over her.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, sniffing slightly. Blair realized how crappy she looked and wrapped her blanket around her tighter.

"Bella told Edward you were sick. Esme made you some soup, and I brought your class work," He replied, bringing her attention to the thermos and folder in his hands.

"That's really nice of her and you, but it's nine in the morning. Shouldn't you be at school?" Jasper grinned down at her.

"Figured I'd skip, and you could show me that show you were talking about." Blair couldn't stop the excitement that ran through her, which caused the man in front of her to smirk slightly.

"You won't get in trouble with your parents?" She teased.

"They already know," He retorted.

"Well, come on in then." Blair moved aside and Jasper fluidly walked past her, sitting the thermos and folder on the table. He joined her on the couch, and she was almost envious at his long-legged grace as he made himself comfortable.

"Prepare to be entertained." She pressed play. Two hours later, Blair was eating soup, glad that the show managed to make Jasper laugh a few times.

"There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line." Blanche's voice came from the tv. She laughed, causing Jasper to look over at her.

"That's the one you wanna be like when you're old?" He asked, smiling.

"She's just so unapologetically herself. Don't slut shame. I'd want to be getting laid well into old age too." He raised his hands in mock surrender.

"So, this is your favorite show when you're sick? What's your favorite movie then?" Blair scooted closer, turning towards him, and crossing her legs. The show was momentarily forgotten.

"Depends on the time of year. I have one for every season, but normally, I'd have to say 'Boondock Saints'." She quickly grabbed a Kleenex and sneezed, rolling her eyes at her own grossness.

"The one with the Irish guys who turn vigilante in Boston?" She nodded, "I like that one too." It continued like that for a while. Jasper asked her questions and she'd ask her own. Blair could easily see why Peter and Charlotte loved the man in front of her. He must have been one hell of a human if this was him as a vampire. He seemed genuinely interested in every answer she gave, sometime asking her to elaborate when he wanted more detail.

His southern twang made her feel peaceful, and she felt herself becoming sleepy. She forced herself to stay awake, wanting to spend as much time with him as possible. Jasper then asked a loaded question that had her blushing.

"Have you ever been in love?" He asked, looking at her from underneath his lashes. She decided to answer honestly.

"No. Have you?"

"I thought I was once." She hid a smile.

"Alice?" He looked at her in surprise, confirming that she'd been right in her observations. Blair knew it was a lie that it had only been once for him. Peter had explained how Maria had manipulated Jasper into believing that their relationship was one of love, so she couldn't fault him for fudging the truth to someone he thought was just another human.

"Yes," Jasper replied slowly, wondering how she'd feel about it.

"I could see that you guys would make a good couple. Why did it end?" Truth be told, Blair was slightly jealous. Alice was beautiful with an air of purity that she, herself, sorely lacked. The pixie was like a beacon for lost ships, able to be seen from miles away. But it wasn't her place to be jealous. Jasper wasn't hers. He shrugged in reply.

"Just wasn't meant to be. I love her, but it was never anything more than it was." Blair appreciated his honesty but couldn't help but tease him. She wanted away from the heavy subject.

"You loved her like a really hot step-sister you've had sex with?" The couch pillow hit her face, causing her to huff out a laugh that quickly turned into a cough.

"You've never had anyone who's caught your eye?" Jasper challenged. She shook her head, vehemently denying the little voice that replied 'you'.

"No. I lost my virginity to a friend because I didn't want to get my heart broken by losing it to someone I cared about like that," She paused, "I just never saw the point in it, I guess."

"Of relationships?" He questioned.

"Of falling into the over-dramatic teenage love fest when the likelihood of it ending was high." Jasper looked slightly bothered by her explanation. He wasn't sure how any man could leave her behind. Maybe that was her point. She'd never been surrounded by men who knew what they wanted, only teenage boys, who were fickle by nature. Blair yawned, laying her head against the couch.

"You'll have to thank your mother for me and thank you for spending the day with me."

"Anytime." He meant it. Her eyes began to droop, her head lolling until it rested on his shoulder. Her scent filled his nostrils, calming him. He sat perfectly still, determined not to jostle her or cause her to move away.

"You know, it's interesting," She murmured sleepily, "You have a southern accent, but your sister doesn't." Jasper could tell she was falling asleep, but her last comment caught him by surprise. His thoughts that she may know more than she led on became stronger. Would it really be so bad if she did know? He looked down at her. Her nose was red, and she looked like every bit of the sick girl she was. No, definitely not a curse.

Blair felt herself being laid down and a pillow being put under her head. Cool lips touched her forehead, sending tingling sparks down to her toes and warmth through her chest. The front door opened and closed, and her sleepy consciousness already missed his body next to hers. 'Damn you, Peter' she thought before she drifted back under the blanket of sleep.

Please read and review. I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Next chapter will be revealing a lot, so tune in. I'll be trying to update by Sunday.
