Ok. So, here's the next chapter. Sorry it took so long, but between work and planning my wedding, it's been hard to find time to write. I think there will be one more in Twilight and then two for the summer in between before we get to New Moon. Paul will be more present soon, and he will be imprinting in this story, but it's not who you think. No, it's not Alice. Thank you for the reviews and shout out to my beta: breaiden0413. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
"No fucking way."
Those were the first words out of Peter's mouth. Jasper remained silent, but his expression spoke volumes. Blair knew this wasn't going to happen without a fight. Bella just stood, open-mouthed and shaking her head in denial.
"Blair, this isn't an option. You could get killed," Charlotte said sternly.
"There's no guarantee he won't run if he figures out we know he's here. Then he'll meet up with his red-headed girlfriend and regroup, before coming after us again. Or really coming after my family. He needs to be destroyed," Blair insisted.
"So, you just expect us to let you walk into that studio all by yourself?" Jasper growled. Blair bit her lip, knowing his thoughts. Bella was looking between them, open mouthed.
"This is not me trying to be some kind of martyr. This is a good idea. You'd be fine with it if it wasn't me," She replied stubbornly. Jasper huffed out an exasperated laugh.
"But it is you, isn't it?"
"What about me?" Bella asked nervously. Blair snorted.
"I can see that going over well with Edward."
"He doesn't have to know," Bella tried to reason. The eldest sister lifted an eyebrow.
"You can't ask his brother and sister to lie to him, Bells."
"I'll lie to him," Peter muttered, causing Blair to fix him with a glare. He shrugged unapologetically, not at all feeling bad for offering Bella up in Blair's place.
"This will work. You guys are masters at sneaking around unheard, even on a vampire. Stay five minutes behind me, and when he thinks he's won, you strike. It's a good plan," She tried to persuade. Jasper's face was set in a stubborn line. The thought of his mate being alone with the tracker for ANY amount of time made rage flow through his veins. Blair was right, however. If it had been anyone else, he would think it was a good plan.
Years of war had trained him to sneak into enemy territory undetected. But, if James did manage to hear him, then he would sever Blair's head from her body before she could blink. It was stupid of the tracker, really. If he did manage to kill Blair, Jasper would make it his immortal life's mission to make him suffer.
"We can't risk it," Charlotte insisted.
"I trust you all to save me. Can't you trust me to keep myself alive until you get there? He's cocky. He won't believe you can get the jump on him," She said quietly. Jasper surveyed her momentarily before coming to a decision.
"5 minutes. After that, I don't give a fuck if he gets away or not." Jasper could only hope that he wouldn't live to regret this.
"Jasper," Alice protested. He silenced her with a look, feeling sick with the decision already. But he had to trust Blair. He had to treat her as more than a helpless human. She was capable, that was for sure. Her mouth alone would be able to keep the tracker distracted. Being able to read people like he could, he knew James wouldn't go for a quick kill. He would want to gloat. It would be his downfall, and Jasper would make sure of it.
"We won't tell the family. It'll go smoother without anyone else involved," Peter said, not looking at all happy with the decision. Bella looked like she wanted to protest, more than likely believing that Edward should be informed of everything.
"They'll be coming in on the next flight available. We'll have to figure it out before then. I want this done with," Jasper growled. He turned to Alice, "I need to talk to you alone." She nodded and got up to follow him outside. He watched Blair give him an encouraging smile as Alice followed him outside.
They walked in silence for a moment, getting further away from the room, before stopping a short distance away.
"Have you seen anything?" He asked quietly. Alice sighed.
"I've had several visions in the last few minutes. Nothing concrete. I've seen her get killed, but I've also seen the opposite. I don't think this is a decision that has an absolute ending." Jasper sighed angrily, running a hand through his hair. He'd gone into worse situations with worse odds, but there was so much more at risk.
"Jasper…this is a bad idea," Alice said nervously.
"You don't think I know that? I don't want that fucker anywhere near her. But I can't treat her like she's helpless. I'm not going to let anything happen to her." His voice was unyielding, and Alice had trouble doubting him when he spoke with such conviction.
They headed back towards the room, which was silent, with only the tv in the background as noise. Peter nodded to Jasper, before grabbing Charlotte's hand and pulling her out the door. Blair watched as Alice disappeared into the bedroom that Bella had disappeared into earlier. Neither she nor Jasper said anything as he took a seat on the couch next to her.
She scooted over next to him, curling her feet underneath her. She laid her head on his shoulder and felt him sigh deeply.
"It'll be ok," She whispered.

The airport was crowded as they waited. The rest of the Cullens would be coming in in about an hour. Alice would stay behind with Bella and wait for them, telling them the plan. Blair would get a five-minute head start.
The atmosphere was tense, and Blair would be a liar if she said she wasn't nervous. But who wouldn't be in her position?
"The bathroom over there has an exit in it. I'll go out that way and hail a cab…just in case he's watching. Give me five minutes before following. We know where he's going to lead me. He'll expect Bella too. Probably won't be happy, but he might see it as more of a challenge," She murmured.
"Or he'll get angry," Bella piped in. Jasper looked like he was restraining himself from glaring. Charlotte grabbed Blair's hand and squeezed. Peter gave her a confident look, nodding to her.
"I know you, me, and Charlotte need to talk about everything. We will when this is over," He whispered.
"We better." Peter could see the anger behind Blair's eyes that she hadn't allowed herself to completely feel yet. He knew that in was in for one hell of a scolding. He wanted to hug her, but she was right. The tracker could be watching, and they couldn't seem like they were saying goodbye.
"Stay safe," Bella whispered, unable to believe that this was actually happening. She couldn't believe that her sister was actually agreeing to this. It made her feel selfish that she wasn't going, and terrible that she was relieved at that fact.
"It's time to go," Blair whispered. She felt Jasper tug at her hand and looked back at the encouraging faces of her family. It gave her courage and a feeling that this was all going to turn out alright.
Jasper walked slowly to the bathroom, like he was trying to avoid the inevitable. He stopped in front of it and stared at the door leading in. She squeezed his hand and gave him a small smile.
"I'm not going to give you a dramatic goodbye. It's not our style," Blair said with a small smile. He snorted and glanced down at her.
"It's unnecessary anyway. Nothing is going to happen to you," He said, his tone flat.
"I know. I'm not worried," She replied with a grin.
"Liar," He murmured, "Five minutes," He then reiterated. Despite her promise that she wouldn't give him a dramatic goodbye, she couldn't help herself when she grabbed the nape of his neck and pulled his lips down to hers. Their lips didn't move, didn't go further to seek an outlet for the desperation that they both felt. Blair pulled away and disappeared into the bathroom, not looking back in fear of wanting to stay.
She bypassed the stalls and headed towards the exit. The moment that the street came into view and the sunlight hit her face, she headed to the first empty cab. The cabbie asked where she wanted to go and she gave her address, thinking that was the best place to start. James would call soon, and if he wanted to lead her to the ballet studio, her house was only a block away. The cab driver didn't attempt to make conversation, which she was thankful for. As they neared her house, her cell phone rang with an unknown number and she knew it was him.
"Hello?" She answered stoically.
"Hello, Blair," James purred, "I assume you and your sister managed to get away?" Her assumption that he was watching had been wrong, since he didn't know that Bella wasn't with her.
"Hmm," She replied, neither confirming nor denying.
"Good. Go to your old house. When you get there, I'll call. Don't keep me waiting long…for your mother's sake." The line went dead, and she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. For someone who was supposed to be a powerful tracker, he reminded her of a villain from a C-grade action film.
The cabbie arrived at her house fifteen minutes later. She handed him money and cautiously walked to her front door, wondering if he'd be waiting at her house instead. Using her key, she opened the door and listened. There were no abnormal sounds or lack thereof, so she deemed it safe and walked in.
It hadn't changed since she'd left for Washington, and Blair was hit with a brief note of nostalgia before surveying her surroundings. Nothing looked touched, but she had no doubt that he's been there. He had to have gotten the videos from here. It creeped her out, knowing that he's been in her house.
Not seconds later, the phone rang, and she knew with absolute certainty that he was watching her now. She gingerly picked it up.
"Hello?"
"You've done so well so far. Walk to the ballet studio you and your sister used to attend. You've got 5 minutes." When he hung up, she took off. The ballet studio was only a few blocks from her house, but more than a 5-minute walk, so she ran.
The pavement of the sidewalk pounded against her feet, her nerves jittering with every step. When the ballet studio came into view, she took a deep breath and flew to the door. The lights were off, but the sunlight was streaming through large windows, giving off enough light to see. James was nowhere in sight, but she had no doubt that he was there.
"Bella! Bella!" Her mother's voice filtered through the room. Despite knowing that it wasn't actually her mother in the flesh, she took off running towards the sound.
"Mom!" Blair shouted convincingly. When she reached the cabinet the sound was coming from, she pushed opened the doors. The video playing was one when Bella disappeared when she was supposed to be performing in a ballet pageant.
"Mom, I suck," Young Bella said, and a chuckle sounded from behind her. She whipped around. James came into view, his muscles coiling as he leisurely strolled into the light. He seemed unsurprised that her sister wasn't with her, and Blair wondered if she had underestimated his instincts.
"Your sister was such a stubborn child. Not as stubborn as you, of course, seeing as how you ignored my instruction for you both to come." His voice was pleasant, but there was an undertone of displeasure hidden in his burgundy eyes.
"You didn't honestly think I'd let her come, did you? From what I've been told, you're smarter than that," Blair said, trying to keep the quaver out of her voice. Five minutes, she thought. She just had to keep this going for five minutes…but there was a lot he could do to her in that span of time.
"I knew it was a possibility. Disappointing though, seeing as how that cuts our time together short. The cab ride will make it difficult for them to track you, but not for long. It does, however, keep the chase going a little longer. This was a bit too easy for me," James said, as he edged closer to her.
"Where's my mother?" She demanded, trying to play the concerned daughter.
"Now, we don't need to get your mother involved in this, do we, Blair?" Blair could hear the smugness in his voice at the thought that he'd tricked her. She backed up slightly the closer he got. She couldn't outrun him, but her instincts reacted automatically. She didn't want him to get close to her.
"You're a fucking moron, you know that?" Blair snarled. His eyebrows lifted in surprise, before smoothing as he looked at her like she was a bug in need of squashing.
"How so? I got to you, didn't I? It was so surprising to me that Major Jasper Whitlock was unlucky enough to be mated to a human. Although, I supposed with his history, he deserves to be punished in such a way," James said pleasantly.
"You know nothing about him," She snapped.
"No? Are you sure you know anything about him? He's younger than I am, but even I remember how quickly his reputation spread. The Great Major of the South. And now I have his mate in my grasp. It's going to be so pleasurable when he finds your body…when he goes insane from grief. He'll make for my most challenging opponent yet. And then there's your little sister and the rest of the coven. This will keep me entertained for a while," James purred as he circled her. Her eyes followed him, turning so that her back wasn't to him.
"That's the point, isn't it? Even if I die right now, I know exactly what Jasper will do to you. What Peter and Charlotte will do to you. What they'll do to your red-headed girlfriend." This gave him pause and anger filled his eyes.
"Victoria has talent for escaping," He said smugly, and Blair laughed, taunting him. The five minutes was almost up.
"Then I hope she enjoys escaping for eternity, but he'll find her. And when he does, he'll make her beg for death." She knew she'd pushed the right button…or wrong one as the case may be. Her eyes couldn't track his movements. Her back was slammed against the wall and pain shot up her spine. His hand went around her throat and squeezed slightly, enough for her to begin to cough.
"Your protectors will die by my hand, and I'll be known as the vampire who killed Jasper Whitlock. He won't be able to help himself, not when he sees the video of your death, or finds your broken body. You and your sister are my second chance in a way. The little pixie from the clearing escaped from me." His grip was tight enough to cut off her air supply, but it was enough to get the threat across.
"Alice?" She choked out.
"Mmm, yes. She smelled even better than your sister. Plagued with visions until she was committed to an insane asylum and given electroshock therapy. I would have had her if it hadn't been for her maker. I killed him for that little trick. Now I have you and your sister to replace the loss." His grip tightened and she gasped. He leaned down and his lips caressed her ear, causing her to shudder.
"Play time is over now, Blair. We'd better get started before they figure out where you are," He whispered. Her fear spiked before all of a sudden it emptied away. She felt it then, the tug in her chest, and knew that Jasper was moments away. She wheezed out a laugh as much as able. James looked at her confused, loosening his grip.
"Like I said, you're a fucking moron. Did you honestly think I'd be stupid enough not to check to see if you had my mother? You cocky fuckhead. You aren't the hunter in this scenario, you're the hunted. And I'm not the victim, I'm the distraction," She croaked out. James' back straightened and he dropped her to the ground. She began to cough, grasping her throat.
James glared at the empty studio with a tense body, looking for her vampires. Blair felt Jasper before she saw him. She blinked and he was there. His hand came up quickly and grasped James by the nape of his neck, tightening until it cracked. Jasper lifted him up as if he were nothing more than a doll. James seemed frozen in shock.
"You know, there aren't many people who matter to me in this world, and you happened to touch the most important one," Jasper murmured lowly. He slammed the tracker down onto the ground, causing a dent in the planks.
Peter and Charlotte appeared then, and grabbed the tracker from the floor, pulling him to his feet. Blair watched from the floor as James struggled against their grip to no avail. Jasper gently picked Blair up from the floor, checking her briefly for injuries. When she shook her head that she was ok, he turned and stalked leisurely over the James with a dark smile on his face.
"Unfortunately, this can't be as slow as I'd like. I'm on a time limit. Although, there is still the matter of your mate. It'll be an interesting chase as she loses herself to the madness of losing her mate." James struggled harder at the mention of the redhead, "Captain, you remember what Maria had us do to mates, don't you?" Peter grinned ferally in reply.
"You won't catch her," James said. He almost sounded like he still thought he was going to get out on top, that he was going to live through this. Charlotte's nails dug into his arm, causing the skin to crack and flake at the joint. James hissed.
"Oh, but we will. Every nomad in my contacts will be looking for her, and when they find her…she'll be joining you," Jasper said in a dark tone, "No matter where she goes, there will be someone looking for her, and I've got nothing but time." Blair cautiously approached Jasper's side and watched as the tracker's eyes followed her. Jasper glanced down at her and gave her a grim look.
She answered with a small smile and nodded once. He seemed to get the message. It was time to end this.
"Looks like my mate is tired of your presence," Jasper purred as he approached the other vampire. James' eyes went wide, as Jasper gripped his neck. It seemed to sink in in that moment that he wasn't walking away from this, that this was the end.
It was over with a quick snap of Jasper's wrists. James' head was torn from his body and landed a few feet away. Charlotte and Peter moved into action then as other body parts joined the pile. They ripped the tracker apart bit by bit. When he was dismembered, they began to pull up the planks and toss them onto his body parts.
Blair came to stand by Jasper, and he looked down at her.
"We'll have to burn the place down to make sure there isn't any evidence," He said softly as he looked back up.
"That sucks. This is someone's business," Blair replied casually, hoping that her nonchalant tone would put him more at ease…put herself at ease. The image of James being dismembered would stay with her for a long time, no matter how much he deserved it.
"I'm sure they have insurance," Jasper replied with an amused edge. The flames were lit then, spreading quickly from the leaking venom of the body, "We should get going before someone shows up to put out the fire." Peter and Charlotte were making quick work of destroying the body, and smoke began to fill the room.
"I told you I'd be ok," Blair replied teasingly. Jasper rolled his eyes but couldn't help but say a small thanks to God that she wasn't hurt. Blair glanced back at the raging flames and then back at him, her expression pensive and her emotions haywire. She then stared straight ahead at her next words.
"Whitlock, I want you to know that I'm in love with you." His eyes snapped to her figure at the softly spoken words. He didn't know what had caused the confession, but had his heart still beat, it would have broken his ribs at that point.
"'Bout time you figured it out." She elbowed him, still looking ahead. He finally pulled her chin to look at him. Her eyes were distinctly vulnerable, and he knew she wasn't used to such an emotion, "I love you too." She looked relieved at his words and he clasped his hand in hers. He began to pull her towards the exit and away from the grisly scene behind them.
So, there it is. The end of James. Read and Review if you can! I'd love to have some feedback. Hopefully, I'll get the next chapter up soon!
