"I'm so glad I'm not spending Christmas on a ward!"

Ruka was keen to leave the city hospital. She had spent the entire day for her routine heart checkup. Being told by the doctors that she could finally go home had brought such relief to the small girl. She had been worried that they would want to keep her there. Staying there overnight would lead to her spending another night there, then another and another…

Spending Christmas Day in a hospital was not anyone's idea of celebrating such a special day of the year. Ruka was grateful she didn't have to do that. It would have led to even more misery brought on by her heart disease.

Ruka pushed open the door and stepped out of the hospital. She did not once look back over her shoulder at the large building as she made her way down the street. The snow fell heavily down towards her. It flattened the blue ribbon she wore on her head.

"It must be nice to enjoy Christmas without worrying if you're going to spend it in hospital," Ruka murmured. "I've barely had a chance to do any shopping with all the appointments I've had to go through."

The shirt girl pulled her cell phone out to open the app which monitored her heartbeat. She was glad to see that it was going at a regular healthy pace. She only wished she didn't have to make these checks constantly everyday. Her life had certainly been dominated by the poor conditions she had been unfortunate to develop. As she pocketed her phone, she watched some children running past her along the sidewalk. She could see how happy they was at this time of the year. They didn't seem to have any problems about their well-being to worry about.

"All I'd like for Christmas is to be able to do normal things without worrying my heartbeat," Ruka said softly. "I don't get to enjoy myself like other people do. I have to constantly check my heartbeat and make sure not to do anything that causes it to tremor. To not worry about that would be very nice."

Ruka turned a corner - and stopped upon seeing a streetlamp before her. Standing in its bright glow were a young couple. She hid behind a mail box to watch what they were doing without being seen. The pair didn't notice the small girl as they smiled adoringly at each other. They moved their faces towards one another - to press their lips together to share a passionate kiss.

It was this kiss the couple shared which caused Ruka's blue ribbon to perk up. What the couple were doing made her think of a certain boy. He was somebody who made her heart beat like nobody else ever could - this causing it to fill with feelings for him.

"Oh yeah!" Ruka said aloud, forgetting to stay hidden as she stood up from behind the mail box. "I also wanna spend Christmas with Kazuya too! I mean, after all, this is the time of the year which couples relish together! I should make some plans with him! After all, I am his girlfriend! There's no one else who should have him for Christmas but me!"

Feeling happier already at the thought of her self-claimed boyfriend, Ruka ran off down the street. She was heading brightly towards the city shops. The first thing she was going to busy for her seasonal shopping was something for the person on her mind.

"I'm gonna buy right now - is a big mistletoe!" Ruka decided cheerily. "I can't wait to see Kazuya's face when I bring it into work for the two of us! I'm gonna hold him tightly underneath it - and I won't let him go until we kiss!"
