CHAPTER 13
Stonesight took a deep breath as he sat beside the creek just a few tail lengths from the training grounds, beside him sat Shadow who was teaching him how to fish. Beside Shadow were three fish she had already caught with ease while Stonesight had only managed to get himself wet. His whisker's dripping with water, Stonesight's fur felt heavy from the water that he had splashed on himself in his attempts to fish. Shadow smiled with slight fondness at him, "want to try again?" offered Shadow with a sigh giggle, Stonesight chuckled nervously he had wanted to impress Shadow but so far he was only embarrassing himself. Stonesight nodded determined to learn; Shadow's cool green eyes shined with slight admiration for Stonesight's determination. Shadow turned her body back towards the creek before them, Shadow held her paw up and made sure her shadow wasn't hovering over the creek's surface. Stonesight took a shuffle back to make sure he didn't mess up her catch, Stonesight narrowed his eyes to watch everyone of Shadow's movements. Shadow was elegant and graceful with each of her movements making Stonesight blush slightly, Stonesight had been spending time with Shadow for the last week. The loner's were staying in Blossomclan's camp till they moved to their new home in the gorges besides Blossomclan's territory. Stonesight enjoyed spending his days with the graceful she-cat she was fun to be around, at that moment Greystorm appeared. His dark gray green eyes sparkling with mischievous he chuckled seeing how soaked Stonesight's pelt was. "You are so wet you could be a fish!" Greystorm's words came out as a laugh making Stonesight's eyes roll at the other tom's antic, "are you paying attention?" Shadow's voice made Stonesight jolt in surprise. Making Greystorm laugh more; Stonesight tried to not look at the starry tom but looked straight at Shadow's face he nodded. "I was!" confirmed Stonesight trying his best to make the black she-cat believe him; Shadow's eyebrow raised at Stonesight's words but she shrugged. "Alright, then why don't you try?" offered Shadow still seeming to not believe Stonesight was paying attention, Stonesight swallowed nervously but nodded. "Alright Stonesight you can do this! It's just a fish! How hard can it be?" Stonesight hyped himself up as he took his place beside the creek. Stonesight narrowed his eyes, raising his good front paw waiting to strike, remembering Shadow's lesson on fishing; "alright…. Wait till a fish swims by…. Then…. Strike!" At that moment Stonesight striked his paw down into the water. Stonesight curled his paw around a squirming fish, he quickly raised his paw out of the water claws digging into the fish's scales; Stonesight quickly threw the flopping fish onto the grass beside him, quickly killing it. Shadow seemed very impressed as Stonesight got to his paws "I did it!" cheered Stonesight making Shadow giggle and purr with amusement, putting her forepaw to her mouth as she giggled making him blush. "I hope to make her smile like this… All the time… She's so beautiful." Stonesight's thoughts made him blush more, Shadow got to her paws picking up her three fishes in her mouth. Greystorm nudged Stonesight's side with his forearm "you are so hopelessly in love!" teased Greystorm making Stonesight roll his eyes as he picked up his own catch. Stonesight walked back to camp alongside Shadow; he wanted to stay by her side for as long as he lived.
…
Stonesight was sitting beside his brother and sisters. Leafpaw was busy with Swanhollow with herb gathering, Stonesight hadn't had the time to confront Tideripple about what he had seen at the gathering. Stonesight knew he shouldn't mention it around Amberpelt and Blueflame as he didn't want to cause an argument; Stonesight looked around the camp. Clearheart was laying in the sunshine sharing prey with Cloudpaw along with Brightstar, Minkpaw was watching Creamstripe eating his prey with a slight smile. While Greystorm and Shadefrond were sharing tongues in the center of the sunshine, Frigidsnow and Mangotuft were practicing their stalking skills besides the high tree. Stonesight turned his head towards his brother Amberpelt who was telling a story of him fighting the fox who had killed Aspenfang. While Blueflame rolled her eyes at the overbloom dramatic story, "and then I had the fox by the throat while Flametail was ripping its back to shreds!"Amberpelt's voice was full of awe as he retold the tale Stonesight and the rest of the litter had heard over ten times now. Stonesight remembered when Amberpelt and Flametail had returned to camp after killing the fox who had killed Aspenfang, both tom's plt had been stained with blood. Along with a few injuries Amberpelt had gotten a huge eye slash that had scarred; luckily it hadn't gotten him half blind. He remembered the haunted look on Leafpaw's face with a shiver. He needed to ask Leafpaw why his brother had been so horrified. But for now he allowed himself to stay in the present where Amberpelt had finished his story, Tideripple snorted "Amberpelt we know you were crazy brave and stupid. You have retold this story over 10 times now, what about you give it a rest?!" Tideripple finished her statement with a roll of the eyes. Amberpelt gave a soft playful gasp, putting a huge russet paw to his heart, "you wound me with your words!" Amberpelt flopped over sticking his paws in the air with a dramatic flare. Making the three siblings burst out into laughs, Amberpelt raised and wiggled his eyebrows making them laugh more. Stonesight giggled rolling his eyes. His brother Amberpelt was a good warrior but he was by no means serious; Blueflame helped Amberpelt to his paws when the tom sat back down. His brother Amberpelt was extremely fluffy and massive like their mother but unlike their mother Amberpelt's fur was always messy and scrufflely making him look like a giant hedgehog. Stonesight snorted at the look of his brother remembering fondly when they were kits how hard their mother had tried to keep amberpelt's fur clean. Only to give up once he became an apprentice, at this moment now Blueflame was making an attempt to tame Amberpelt's messy and wild fur; Amberpelt sighed with mock woefulness "oh woe is me! I can never keep my fur clean!" meowed Amberpelt dramatically making Tideripple stab her forepaw into her brother's chest "you don't even try to keep it clean furball!" said Tideripple with a slight playful hiss. Stonesight rolled his eyes at how annoyed Tideripple was, "my fur is always well managed." boasted Stonesight placing his good front paw to his chest making Blueflame laugh; "that's only because you are trying to charm Shadow." Stonesight blushed at his sister's words. Making his litter-mates all laugh, "honestly your crush is cute." teased Amberpelt wiggling his eyebrows, Stonesight jabbed his forepaw into his brother's ribs. "Shut up!" hissed Stonesight his voice quivering with his embarrassment; making Amberpelt shove him back making Stonesight stumble. Stonesight smiled as he noticed out of the corner of his eyes Brightstar rubbing her belly with a forepaw and Stonesight remembered how Brightstar was expecting a litter of kits. Stonesight smiled thinking of his future little siblings; he wondered what they would look like and silently promised to himself; "I'll keep my little siblings safe."
