Chapter 127: Sense and Sensibility
Paige is in the parlor singing to Wyatt and Celia in their bassinets. "Hush little baby don't you cry, aunty's gonna buy you a pumpkin pie. And if that pie doesn't taste real good, aunty's gonna buy some other kind of food." Paige's date, Nate, stands at the doorway to the parlor. "And if that food doesn't fill your tummy..."
Nate claps lightly. "They're lucky babies."
Paige walks over to them. "Sorry, it's the only thing I can soothe them with nowadays."
"Why would you be sorry?" Nate asks.
"Because normally I don't like to embarrass myself until the fifth or sixth date." Paige says as they sit down on the couch. "Yeah."
"Humiliate? Why? You've got a great voice. Better than most of the singers I book at the club." Nate says.
"Oh, you're just being sweet. Not that I mind sweet." Paige says.
"Well, what do you like to sing?" Nate asks.
"Uh, something called eighth grade, graduation. I was supposed to sing the school song. Eight hundred people were watching, the band is playing, I get up but no sound comes out of my mouth. I completely froze. To make matters worse, I ran out and missed my own graduation." Paige says.
"No." Nate says.
Paige nods, "Yeah."
"I think the eighth grade sort of sucks for everybody." Nate says.
Paige nods, "Yeah, mine just kinda sucked publicly." She and Nate kiss. "That was nice, I haven't had that in a while."
"Had what?" Nate asks.
"Well, I like talking to you." Paige says.
Nate smiles, "I like talking to you to."
Paige smiles, "And I like kissing you."
"Kissing's good." Nate says.
"And I'm kind of nervous." Paige says.
Nate nods, "Me too."
"I should get you more wine." Paige says.
"I'll get it. It's in the kitchen, right?" Nate says before he kisses Paige quickly and heads for the kitchen.
A Kazi demon appears from behind Paige and grabs her head. Thick veins travel through her head and she moans in pain. She orbs out of his grip and orbs back in across the room.
Paige: Leo! Piper! Buffy! Help!
Leo and Piper orb in wearing evening clothes. Buffy and Dawn flame in also wearing evening clothes.
"What the..." Piper and Buffy says.
The Kazi demon heads for Paige and Piper quickly blows him up. The rug catches alight. Paige rushes over and stomps it out.
"Are you okay?" Leo asks.
"Get out! Get out! Nate's he..." Paige says as Nate walks into the room carrying a glass of wine. "Here."
"Hey, Nate, buddy, how you doing?" Leo says.
"Good, good, I didn't hear you all come in." Nate says.
Piper smiles, "Yeah, how about that. Kinda like magic." She looks at Paige.
Later in the conservatory there are boards with paper pinned to them. Phoebe is talking on her cell phone. Piper and Buffy are trying to take photos of Celia and Wyatt who are lying on some pillows on the chairs.
"Yes, Jason, I'm meeting with the syndication consultants today. But I've been doing some preliminary research and we've got Ann Landers, Dear Abby, and E. Jean." Phoebe says.
"Okay, ready?" Piper asks as she takes the picture. Celia smiles, Wyatt doesn't smile.
"But if Atlanta folds, the south will be mine." Phoebe says.
Piper looks at Buffy shaking her head, "I bore him." Buffy smiles as Piper makes a face at Wyatt, trying to get him to smile.
"Yeah, well, I don't care if the south thinks my column is too edgy, okay. I think the south could use a little edge." Phoebe says as she notices the burnt spot on the carpet from the Kazi vanquish. She whispers to Piper and Buffy. "What is that? What is that?"
"Kazi vanquish." Buffy says.
"Another one?" Phoebe asks.
Piper nods, "Dawn and Paige are on it."
Phoebe turns her attention back to the phone, "Yes, of course I'm excited. Can't you tell that I'm excited? I just miss you. When are you coming home?"
"Okay, mommy and auntie's got one last picture left. Are you two ready? Here we go. Smile, smile, smile, one, two, three." Piper says as she takes another picture. This neither Celia nor Wyatt smile. "Alright, I give up."
Leo walks in carrying a baby outfit. "Hey, big guy, you wanna do the popcorn machine?"
Wyatt smiles and laughs.
"I know he's your son, Leo. But way to play favorites." Buffy says as she picks Celia up. "Come here my little pum'kin belly."
Leo looks up at Buffy and sighs, "Sorry." Leo continues bouncing Wyatt on his knee and Wyatt smiles.
"Yeah, see, now he smiles." Piper says.
"Okay, let's get you ready for the fair, okay?" Leo says.
"Oh my I completely forgot about the fair." Buffy says she flames upstairs into her room with Celia. She quickly finds a baby outfit and starts put in on Celia when she hears an explosion in the attic.
"Paige?" Piper calls up from downstairs.
"Dawn?" Buffy calls out.
Buffy puts Celia in her bassinet and then heads out into the hall, meeting up with Piper and Phoebe as they head up to the attic.
"Everything okay?" Piper asks.
"Dawn?" Buffy asks.
"Better than okay. I am gonna have a love life." Paige says.
"I'm fine, Buffy." Dawn says.
"You're making a love potion?" Phoebe asks.
Paige shakes her head, "No, I'm making a stun potion."
"So, that lovers will be stunned by you?" Buffy asks.
Paige shakes her head, "No, so Kazis will be stunned by me."
"You're in love with a Kazi demon?" Phoebe asks.
Dawn shakes her head, "We were making a stun potion…"
"So that I can maybe have a date that doesn't end with, Nate, you gotta leave. I have to clean some demon guts off the ceiling." Paige says interrupting, Dawn.
"Nate, much cuter than a Kazi demon." Phoebe says.
Paige hands them a vial of potion. "The potion you hold in your hand is designed to stun, but not kill Kazis."
"But I so enjoy killing them." Piper says.
Paige nods, "Yes, but since the Kazi king creates his demon minions out of his own body..."
"If we get the king, then we get the Kazis." Buffy says.
Piper shakes her head, "But we don't know where the king is."
"Yes, but that's why Dawn and I did the stun potion, so if we capture one of his minions, we can torture him..." Paige says.
"Then the king will feel the pain and come in for the rescue." Phoebe says.
"Or the minion will break and spill his guts on the whereabouts of the king." Piper says.
"Mm." Phoebe says.
"Aha!" Piper says.
"Okay, the finishing sentence thing, not cute." Paige says.
"Tell me about it. I've had to put up with longer than you have, Paige." Buffy says.
Phoebe looks to Buffy and rolls her eyes before looking back at Paige, "We're just trying to tell you it's a good plan, an oldie, but a goodie."
Leo walks in with Wyatt and Celia. "Okay, let's go, guys. The fair waits for no witch."
"Oh you got her dressed for me. Thanks, Leo." Buffy says.
Leo smiles, "Of course. What kind of uncle would I be if I didn't help out my sister-in-law once awhile." He hands Celia to her.
"Oh, no, the fair's today? I have to wor..." Phoebe says.
Dawn shakes her head, "Yeah and if I'm right…" She points at Piper.
"No, you will not finish that sentence. We are going to the fair as a family, you promised." Piper says.
"Yep I was right." Dawn says.
"I know I did, and I really, really wanna go, but the syndication meeting is this afternoon." Phoebe says.
"Do you really wanna miss Celia and Wyatt's first street fair? They don't have a lot of firsts left, you know." Buffy says.
"Yeah, they do. They've got their first date, first bad grade, first backfired spell. Many, many firsts." Paige says.
"Yeah and you can tell Celia about the birds and the bees when she gets to that age. I'm so not looking forward to that first." Buffy says.
"I'll bring my cell phone." Phoebe says.
"Bring the potions too, just in case." Paige says.
Phoebe nods, "Got mine."
At the street fair Wyatt and Celia are fast asleep in Leo and Buffy's arms. Piper videotapes them as they stand in front of a pony.
"Come on, Wyatt, wake up." Leo says.
"Come on my little pum'kin belly, wake up." Buffy said.
"Come on. Pony, see, pony." Leo says. "Why don't you two take them over to see the clown?"
Piper and Buffy shakes their heads. "No, clowns are scary, and besides, balloons are a no-no for infants."
"Come on, Piper, put the camera away, you're missing all the fun." Leo says.
"Taking pictures of him and Celia is fun for me. I mean, if you want to talk to someone about missing out, talk to Phoebe." Piper says.
Leo turns around and sees Phoebe near by talking on her phone.
"Hi, Elise. No, I'm not on my way yet." Phoebe says as a mime follows her and copies her moves. "I'm at a fair with my niece and nephew. Well, yeah, of course I'm gonna be at the meeting." A crowd of people gather around and laugh at Phoebe and the mime. "I will be there, I will be ready, I will be on. Yeah. I know, I know." Paige walks over to Phoebe holding some cotton candy. She taps her on the shoulder and points to the mime. Phoebe turns around. "You know what? Let me call you back, let me call you back." She hangs up.
"Kinda sad when a mime is making fun of your phone usage." Paige says. "Everyone hates mimes, you do know that, don't you?" She gives the cotton candy to the mime and they walk over to Dawn, Buffy, Piper and Leo. They stand near a booth where a Capuchin monkey is sitting on top of it.
"Okay, so I have five minutes. Is there a ride I can go on with him and Celia real quick?" Phoebe says.
"Okay, that's pathetic." Paige says.
"Phoebe, you are pencilling in rides with your niece and nephew? For crying out loud, it's Saturday." Buffy says.
Dawn nods in agreement, "Yeah, Pheebs. Relax a little."
"I know, but I think I'm gonna be working Saturdays from now on. Do you think I'm happy about this? There are many things I have been in my life. Workaholic is not one of them." Phoebe said.
Paige shakes her head, "If you're not happy with it, why are you doing it?"
"Who says I'm not happy?" Phoebe asks.
"You just did." Leo said.
"Oh." Phoebe replied.
"I blame your very handsome, but very pushy boyfriend." Piper says.
"National syndication is a huge opportunity and yes, it was Jason's idea, but I agreed to it. And I am happy, I'm really happy." Phoebe says as her phone rings. "Ohh." She answers it. "Hello? Yeah, okay." Suddenly, the monkey sitting on top of the booth, jumps onto Phoebe's shoulder. "Whoa!"
The monkey touches Phoebe's ear. It then jumps onto Paige's shoulder.
"Don't like monkeys!" Paige says.
The monkey touches Paige's mouth. The crowd laughs and giggles at the monkey. It then jumps on Piper's shoulder.
"Let me call you back. Leo, Buffy, germs, cover the babies." Phoebe said.
The monkey touches Piper's eyes.
"Alright." Piper says.
The monkey jumps to Dawn and covers her ears. Finally it jumps to Buffy and covers her eyes before it finally jumps down and runs away.
Celia and Wyatt start to whimper.
"I don't think Wyatt or Celia liked mister monkey." Leo said as he looked at his son. "Did he scare you? He did, he scared you."
"It's ok Celia." Dawn said. "The monkey's gone."
"It's okay. Are they hungry?" Piper asks.
"No, that's their tired cry." Phoebe says.
Dawn nods, "Yeah, I think they're just over stimulated."
"Maybe we should go home." Leo says.
"Alright, you guys are the experts. Um, why don't you orb and flame home and Dawn and I'll go develop this film." Piper says.
"Okay, we'll walk you to the car." Leo says.
Both Buffy and Piper rub their eyes.
"I think that stupid monkey got dust in my eye." Piper says.
"I think he might have got some in mine also." Buffy said.
"Do you hear that ringing?" Phoebe and Dawn asks.
Paige clears her throat. They walk away. The monkey on top of the booth disappears.
Later Piper and Dawn are driving along the road. Piper's phone rings and Piper answers it.
"Paige?" Piper asks as she hears beeping. "Paige, is that you?" She hears more beeps. She looks down at the phone and her vision starts to go blurry. She drops the phone.
Piper starts to drive the car into the other lane as Dawn grabs the steering wheel and steers it back into the correct lane. "Piper?" Dawn asks.
"Dawn I'm having trouble seeing." Piper says. To Dawn it sounds like Piper said. "Dawn I ha tro see."
Dawn shakes her head as the ringing in her ears gets really bad, "Piper? Can you repeat that?"
Piper blinks several times but her vision disappears completely. "I can't see, Dawn."
Dawn can see Piper's lips moving but she can no longer hear Piper, "Piper I can't hear you. I'm going to pull the car over. When I tell you I need you to brake. Nod your head so I know you heard me."
Piper nods her head. Dawn pulls the car to the side of the road. "Brake. Leo!"
Back at the Manor in her and Dawn's room, Buffy sits watching a little TV when her eyesight gets blurry and finally disappears. Phoebe downstairs in the living room is turning the volume up on the TV. She can't hear a thing. She gives up and turns off the TV. She walks through the house.
"Paige! Piper! Buffy! Dawn! If you're here, I need you to come out into the open and like, flag me down or something, okay?" Phoebe says.
Upstairs Buffy hears Phoebe and tries to make her way out of the door into the hall. She hits the wall. She tries again and hits the wall again. She flames out and back in downstairs as Paige walks in behind Phoebe.
"Phoebe I heard you but I can't see you." Buffy said. "Phoebe?"
Phoebe continues to walk through the house and Paige tries to catch up with her and get her attention. "Hello? Oh, anyone? Hello!" She walks into the kitchen. Paige throws her bag at a vase and it smashes. Phoebe doesn't hear it.
Buffy hears the vase smash in the kitchen and flames out and into the kitchen just as Paige orbs out and in front of Phoebe.
Paige mouths, "What are you doing?"
"I lost my hearing during the biggest day of my life! I can't hear a thing!" Phoebe yells.
"Phoebe?" Buffy says. "I can't see you I don't know where you are."
Paige motions to Phoebe to quieten down.
"What!? I can't hear you!" Phoebe says.
Paige sees Buffy and turns Phoebe to face Buffy. And then she stands where they both can see her and motions again to quieten down and points to her ear.
Phoebe lowers her voice. "Oh, okay, okay. I need your guys help. Magic has got to be behind this." Paige scratches her head and side and acts like a monkey.
"What's going on? I can't see anything." Buffy says.
"What are you doing? Oh, I get it! I get it! Charades! Okay, ya, ya." Phoebe says as Paige acts like a monkey again. "You're a monkey." Paige nods. "Okay. You're a monkey." Paige gets a ferocious look on her face. "Ooh, you're an angry monkey. You're pissed, you're... PMS monkey?" Paige shakes her head. "No, no, of course not. Okay." Paige makes an invisible ball with her hands and throws it. "Ball?" Paige then makes an explosion with her hands. "Fireball!" She acts out the monkey again and the fireball. "A demon monkey stole my hearing!" Paige points to her mouth. "And your voice too?" Paige points to Buffy and then covers her eyes." And Buffy's vision?" Paige nods. "Oh, sweeties!"
"Well I can tell someone other than Phoebe is here." Buffy said. "Uhm hit the table once if you're Piper, twice if you're Paige and three times if you're Dawn."
Paige hits the table twice.
"Okay so we have Phoebe who can't hear. I'm guessing you can't speak Paige." Buffy says.
Phoebe hugs Paige and Buffy.
Paige pulls a face.
In the conservatory Leo orbs in with Piper, Dawn and Wyatt.
"I don't understand why you can't heal my eyes." Piper said. "Or Dawn's ears."
"I don't know, your vision is just gone." Leo said. "Just as her hearing is."
"I don't know what you guys are saying but I hope your trying to figure out what's wrong." Dawn says.
In the kitchen Buffy and Paige hears Piper, Dawn and Leo's voices. Paige gets Phoebe's attention.
"You hear something?" Phoebe says as Paige nods and motions talking with her hand. "You hear puppets?"
In the conservatory Leo helps Piper sit down as Dawn sits next to her.
"I'll find Phoebe, Buffy and Paige after I put the baby down." Leo says.
"Where am I?" Piper asks.
"In the conservatory. Just try to stay calm and try not to worry." Leo says, he motions to Dawn that he is going upstairs to put Wyatt down.
Dawn nods as Piper sighs.
In the kitchen Phoebe finally grasps what Paige is trying to tell her, "You hear voices, voices."
Paige nods. She takes Buffy's hands and places them on her shoulder.
"What are you doing Paige?" Buffy asks.
Phoebe nods getting the idea, "She's going to lead us someplace, Buffy."
"Ah, okay." Buffy said.
Paige leads Buffy and Phoebe out of the kitchen and into the conservatory.
"Piper!" Phoebe says. "Dawn!"
Piper gets up and walks straight pass them.
Dawn stands and walks over towards Buffy. "Buffy are you alright?"
"I'm so glad you're here." Piper says as she stands in front of a map on a stand. "I can't see a thing and Dawn's can't hear a thing. If not for Dawn I would have wrapped my car around a pole."
"Piper." Buffy says. "We have problems. You and Dawn are not the only ones affected. I can't see a thing either. Phoebe can't hear and I think Paige has lost her voice."
"Now how could the monkey do that?" Piper asks. "Wait Buffy did you say you can't see, Phoebe can't hear and Paige can't speak?"
"Yes." Buffy said.
"Oh, he got all of us? Which means somebody sent that flea-infested primate after us." Piper says. "Is everyone here then?"
"I assume so." Buffy said. "I can't see anyone. But from the clues I have I would say so."
Piper walks across the room and Phoebe and Paige grab each of her arms. Dawn guides Buffy.
Leo walks in. "What's going on?"
"Huh!" Piper says as she and Buffy cover their eyes. Paige covers her mouth. And Phoebe and Dawn cover their ears.
"I see." Leo says.
"Well, I don't." Piper says. "Where is Paige?"
"Uh, she just can't talk." Leo says.
"Excuse me! This is either someone's sick, sick joke, or someone's working on a massive evil plan!" Phoebe yells.
"Whatever it is, you guys are in danger without your senses." Leo says as Dawn and Phoebe looks at Leo trying to read his lips. "Piper, Buffy, you two are the most vulnerable. So I want you two to stay next to Celia and Wyatt, their force fields will protect you both."
"Okay." Piper and Buffy says.
"Paige, a Kazi attack could be deadly right now. Make sure we're stocked up on stun potion." Leo says.
"Phoebe, Dawn, you two check the Book of Shadows, see what you can find out about evil monkeys and demons who control them." Leo says as Phoebe and Dawn nod their heads even though they have no idea what Leo just said. "Come on. Paige can you lead Buffy upstairs also."
Paige nods and leads Piper and Buffy over to the stairs.
"Where are we going?" Buffy asks.
Paige, Buffy and Piper reach the stairs and Piper falls flat on her face.
"Ohh! Paige!" Piper says.
Later Piper and Buffy are in Piper's room. They are sitting on Piper's bed holding Wyatt and Celia. Celia and Wyatt whimpers.
"Okay, little guy, what is it? What is it? Do we need a diaper change?" Piper says as she checks Wyatt's diaper. "No, not that."
"What is it little pum'kin belly?" Buffy says and checks Celia's diaper. "Nope."
"Okay. Um, how about the popcorn machine? That always works for daddy, right, right? Okay, here we go. Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop. No popping. Okay, forget the popping. Okay, it's alright." Piper says.
Buffy tries the same thing with similar results.
They hear footsteps.
"Hello? Leo?" Piper says.
Leo walks in. "Yeah. Just came to check on you two." He sits on the bed beside Piper and Buffy. "How'd you know it was me, Piper?"
"Well, you shuffle your feet. You're a shuffler." Buffy says.
Piper nods, "Buffy's right."
"Looks like your other senses are already taking over for your vision." Leo says.
"Uh-huh. Not fast enough." Piper says.
"Okay, tell us what we're doing wrong here." Buffy said.
"Uh, well, that fussy noise they're both making usually means gas. Try putting them over your shoulder."
"Okay." Piper says as Buffy positions Celia over her shoulder and Piper positions Wyatt over her shoulder. "Alrighty. Here we go, oh, I know."
"Better?" Leo asks.
Buffy sighs, "No, not better. I don't know all her tricks and noises like you guys do. And at least before I could see her."
"Well, the love is there, the rest will follow. You know, it's just a myth that all mothers instantly bond with their children." Leo says.
"Well, I don't think were worried about all other mothers, Buffy and I are more worried about us." Piper says.
Buffy nods in agreement.
"From where I stand, you two look like a pro, they've already calmed down." Leo says.
"They have? Oh, she has. Okay, good." Buffy says.
"He has. That's good." Piper says.
"Leo! Bring Piper and Buffy up here, I think we found something!" Phoebe calls from upstairs.
"Here, take him." Piper says as she hands Wyatt to Leo. "I don't want him left alone for a second while this stuff is going on here, okay?"
"Let me know when you have Wyatt settled. I don't want to leave Celia alone either." Buffy said.
Leo puts Wyatt in his bassinet. "Okay, Buffy." She hands him Celia. "I got her."
"Okay Piper take my hand." Buffy says. Piper takes her hand and she and Piper flame out and into the attic where Phoebe and Dawn are looking through both Books.
"The monkey didn't come after us on his own. Someone very powerful is behind all of this." Phoebe says. "The question is who?"
"Hello? Anybody in here? Give us a sign." Piper says as Paige bangs on the table. "Alright, speak and spell. Tell us what you two know."
Paige writes 'News?' on a notepad and holds it up.
"Oh. Okay, listen to this. Centuries ago, a sorcerer created a monkey to steal his enemies senses, only the sorcerer mistreated the little fella, so the monkey stole his master's voice and was turned into a wooden totem as punishment." Dawn says.
"So this whole monkey business about, you know, speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil is a real thing?" Buffy asks.
"What?" Phoebe yells.
"Never mind. Read my lips. Is there anything in here that will get our senses back?" Piper says.
"Piper, Phoebe and I can't hear you!" Dawn says.
"Ugh. What do we do?" Buffy says.
Paige writes "Kill Monkey" on a notepad and holds it up.
"Oh, Paige is proposing violence against the monkey!" Phoebe says.
"Well, I'm inclined to agree, but I really think the monkey is the least of our worries." Piper says.
"Yeah, Phoebe and I didn't hear what you just said but if you were wondering who was behind this we were about to look in the Books." Dawn says.
Buffy and Piper gives her two thumbs up.
Phoebe's cell phone vibrates and she looks at the caller ID. "Oh, no, it's Elise. Piper or Buffy, you're the only ones that can talk to her. Tell her I'm sick." She hands Buffy the phone. "Tell her, tell her..."
"I got it, I got it, I got it. Okay." Buffy says as she answers the phone. "Hello? Hi, Elise. Uh, Phoebe? Yeah, she's here, she's lying down." The Kazi demon appears behind Piper and Phoebe. "Um, I don't know. Inner ear infection maybe?" Paige sees the demon and bangs on the table. "Shh! Oh, no, not you."
Paige mouths, "Phoebe! Dawn! Piper!"
"We've just got workers banging around here all day." Buffy says as Phoebe and Dawn see the Kazi demon dive towards Phoebe and Phoebe levitates out of the way. He goes crashing into a table.
"What is going on over there?" Piper asks.
"Kazi demon!" Dawn says. "I got it."
"Gotta go!" Buffy says as she hangs up.
"Remember we want to capture it." Piper says.
Dawn powers up a low level energy ball and throws it at the Kazi demon sending him flying back hard against the wall and knocking him out.
In Piper's room Leo is there reading a book. He hears noises coming from the attic. "Wyatt, Celia, danger."
Wyatt and Celia's force fields surround them.
Leo gets up and runs out of the room.
Crone walks in and moves beside the bassinets. She is holding a monkey totem as she starts singing in Paige's voice, "Hush little baby don't say a word, mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird, and if that mocking bird won't sing..."
Upstairs Phoebe places five crystals around the Kazi demon to create a crystal cage. "Crystal cage is ready!"
The Kazi demon gets up and touches the cage. It shocks him.
Buffy and Piper hears singing.
"Do you hear that?" Piper says.
"Sounds like someone singing." Buffy says.
Leo shakes his head, "I don't hear anything."
"Buffy's right it sounds like singing." Piper says.
"Wyatt and Celia." Leo says as he races out of the room.
In Piper's room the Crone is still singing, "And if you let this force field down, you'll still be the best little babies in town."
Both force fields disappear. Crone reaches in Wyatt's bassinet.
Leo races in. "Piper! Buffy! Celia, Wyatt, careful..."
Crone zaps Leo and he flies across the room. Wyatt and Celia starts to cry and makes their force fields appear."
"Leo, what's going on?" Phoebe calls down from upstairs.
"You'll pay for that." Crone says as she walks over to Leo and disappears with him.
Buffy and Piper flame in as Dawn, Phoebe and Paige orb in. Phoebe goes to Wyatt's bassinet as Dawn goes to Celia's bassinet.
"Is Wyatt okay?" Piper asks.
"Is Celia okay?" Buffy asks.
"Wyatt's okay." Phoebe says.
"Celia's good." Dawn says.
Phoebe looks around. "Where's Leo?"
"Leo? Why isn't he answering us?" Piper says.
Moments later in the attic Piper and Buffy are sitting on a couch holding Wyatt and Celia. Dawn, Phoebe and Paige clean up the mess in the attic.
"There you go, is that better? There you go. That's better. It's okay, baby. Daddy'll be home soon." Piper says.
"You did it! You calmed them down!" Phoebe yells.
"Shh! Phoebe." Buffy says. "It's strange after, you know, I lost my vision, I was forced to use my maternal instincts, which is good 'cause I wasn't really sure I had them."
Piper nods in agreement, "It's the same for me."
Paige holds up a notepad with "We'll find Leo" written on it.
"I know." Buffy and Piper say.
"I'm getting pretty good at reading lips, I think Piper, you just said 'I know'. What do you know?"
"That we'll find Leo." Piper says as Buffy nods in agreement.
"Okay, that's weird. How did you know that's what Paige wrote? I mean, you two can't see it and Dawn and I didn't say it, so how did you..." Phoebe says.
Buffy shakes her head, "My guess maybe we're developing some sort of sixth sense. It's what it must be, right?"
"Well, whatever it is, we gotta use it to help find Leo." Dawn says.
"Start the interrogation." Phoebe says.
Paige heads over to the Kazi demon. Piper stands up with Wyatt as Buffy stands up with Celia.
"We will be in the nursery." Piper says as she takes Buffy's hand and they flame out.
Paige holds up the notepad in front of the Kazi. It reads "Where's our Whitelighter". The Kazi doesn't answer and Paige throws a tiny crystal at the cage. It shocks the Kazi and he yells out in pain.
"Wrong answer." Phoebe says as Paige throws another tiny crystal at the cage and shocks him. The doorbell rings. Paige goes over to the window.
"Is somebody here?" Dawn asks.
Paige looks out the window and sees Nate waiting on the porch. Paige walks back over to Phoebe and Dawn and mouths the word "Nate".
"Nate is here?" Phoebe asks and Paige nods. She shoo's Phoebe. "You want me to get rid of him?" Paige nods. "I can't do that, Paige. I mean, first of all, I'm not the best listener right now and second of all, he's your boyfriend." Paige puts her hands together and begs. She then pretends to hold a microphone and sings. She then promptly waves her hand in front of her mouth. "You lost your voice when you were singing? With hi... Wait, how could that be? You were with him at his..." Paige pretends to play the piano. "Piano bar." Paige nods. "You lost your voice when you were on stage singing, because he wanted you to sing for him. Oh, that is so romantic! And humiliating. Yeah, I see your point." The doorbell rings again. "Okay, I'll go deal with him but you owe me one."
Phoebe leaves the attic.
Dawn stands over at the window and watches for Nate to leave. "Okay he's going."
Phoebe come back upstairs, "Okay, I would pretty much do anything for my sisters, but making me do that was plain mean, Paige." Paige holds up the notepad that reads "Kazi's are tough to crack". "Yeah, don't try to change the subject, Paige. Here are your flowers from Nate," she throws them on the couch, "and personally, if you ask me, I think that Nate deserves more."
Paige holds up the notepad and it reads "Where's our Whitelighter?"
"Hey, do you ever think that maybe your Kazi buddy here can't read?" Dawn asks.
"I tried to tell her that." Kazi says.
"He did?" Phoebe asks as Paige writes "Demons lie" on the notepad. "Yeah, but not about literacy. Kazi warriors are base-level demons. Where's our Whitelighter?"
"I don't know." Kazi says.
Paige points to "Demons lie" on her notepad.
"Yeah, we know, we'll see. Who sent you?" Dawn says.
No answer. Paige goes to throw another tiny crystal.
"Wait, wait! Hold on a minute, please, I'll tell you. It was the Crone." Kazi says.
"The Crone? The Crone sent you?" Phoebe asks.
Kazi nods, "Yeah."
"Check the books; see what you can find out about the Crone." Phoebe says. Paige hands Phoebe the tiny crystals and she and Dawn heads over to the Books. "What does the Crone want with us?"
"If I tell you that she'll kill me." Kazi says.
Phoebe throws a small crystal at the cage. He yells in pain.
Suddenly the Kazi demon is vanquished.
"Okay, I didn't do that. Someone else did that, I did not do that. Did you find anything in the book?" Phoebe says as Paige points to a page on the Crone. "Yeah, the Crone, that's what I was afraid of. Is there a vanquishing potion for her?" Paige points to the writing on the page. "Good. Okay, let's hit the kitchen. We've gotta be prepared for anything." Paige writes "Piper? Buffy?" on the notebook. "They're okay, they're with Wyatt and Celia. Their force fields will protect them. Come on." She taps on Dawn's shoulder and motions downstairs.
Dawn nods and follows Phoebe and Paige.
In Piper's room, Piper is there holding Wyatt, and Buffy's holding Celia. Crone appears in the room and walks over to Piper and Buffy.
"Who's there?" Buffy asks.
"Leo found the monkey totem, and I got my voice back." Crone says in Paige's voice.
"Oh my god, where is he?" Piper asks.
"In the kitchen with Dawn and Phoebe. They're working on the potion to vanquish the Kazi King. Don't worry; I'll take care of Wyatt and Celia." Crone says in Paige's voice.
Buffy nods, "Okay." She puts Celia in a bassinet as Piper puts Wyatt in his bassinet. "Okay. We'll be right back."
"Whoa. What's that smell? It's like charcoal." Piper says.
"Burnt Kazi flesh. We just vanquished his warrior." Crone says in Paige's voice.
"Oh, that must be it." Piper says as she takes Buffy's hand they flame out.
Celia and Wyatt's force fields surround them.
"There, there, now, Wyatt. Celia. Don't be afraid. I just wanna hold you." Crone says in Paige's voice as she starts to sing "Hush little baby, don't say a word, mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird."
In the kitchen Dawn, Phoebe and Paige are there working on a potion.
Buffy and Piper flame in.
"Okay, let's go, people, mama wants to see again." Piper says.
"So do I." Buffy says.
Paige taps Phoebe and Dawn and points at Piper and Buffy.
"Piper! Buffy!" Phoebe yells as Piper nearly jumps out of her skin. "We think the Crone is behind this so we're making a vanquishing potion so we can get her!"
"Phoebe, we're blind, not deaf. And Paige said we were going after the Kazi King." Buffy said.
"What'd she say?" Dawn asks.
"Leo? Is that you?" Piper asks. Paige walks over and takes Piper's hands. She puts Piper's hands on her head and shoulder. "Paige? But you're supposed to be watching Wyatt and Celia and you said Leo had come back." Paige puts Piper's hands on her head and she shakes her head. "Oh my god. Buffy that wasn't Paige upstairs."
Buffy's sightless eyes go wide, "Oh my goddess." She flames out with Piper.
Paige grabs Phoebe and Dawn's hands and orbs out.
In Piper's room the Crone is still singing, "Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring. That's my sweet boy. That's my little angel. You both are safe now."
The force field disappears and Crone picks Wyatt and Celia up.
Buffy and Piper flame in as Paige, Dawn and Phoebe orb in.
"Hands off, hag." Piper says.
"You got that right." Buffy says.
"Wyatt, Celia, help, we're in danger." Crone says in Paige's voice.
Both Celia and Wyatt's force fields surrounds Wyatt, Celia and Crone.
"What's going on?" Piper asks.
"Wyatt and Celia's force fields are protecting her." Phoebe says.
"If you hurt either of them we will kill you!" Buffy says.
Crone places her hand on Wyatt's forehead and a red light shines around her hand.
"What is she doing to him?" Dawn asks.
"Paige, can you orb Wyatt and Celia to you?"
Paige mouths "Wyatt and Celia" and nothing happens.
"She can't." Phoebe says.
"Buffy?" Piper says.
"Never called for a live person before. Here goes. Wyatt and Celia!" Buffy says.
Wyatt and Celia flames out of the Crone's arms and into Buffy's arms.
"I've seen everything. Such power. Such power!" Crone says.
"You wanna see real power, lady?" Piper says as Phoebe throws the potion at Crone. She bursts into flames and is vanquished. "I can see! I can see!" She looks to Wyatt. "Hi!" She takes Wyatt from Buffy.
"I can see too." Buffy says as she looks at Celia. "Hey my little pum'kin belly."
Dawn smiles, "I can hear. Oh thank god."
"I can hear also. Paige?" Phoebe says.
"Can I just say..." Paige says.
"What?" Dawn asks.
"Anything. Damn, it's good to hear me speak." Paige says.
"Okay, so we're all good." Dawn says.
Piper shakes her head, "What about Leo?"
"Oh, no, did I kill the hag too soon?" Phoebe asks.
"Oh, if she hurt him, you know I'm gonna have to revive her and kill her again." Piper says.
"Hurry, see if you can get a premonition off the smudge mark." Paige says.
Buffy and Phoebe goes over and touches the smudge mark on the carpet.
"It's okay, honey, we'll find daddy, you know, sooner or later." Piper says.
Suddenly, Piper and Wyatt orb out.
"What just happened? How did she..." Paige says.
"Because my nephew is a genius. Takes after me." Phoebe says.
"You think he knows where his daddy is at?" Buffy asks.
Dawn smiles, "I think so. Celia why don't you take your mom to Uncle Leo and see if you two can't help Aunt Piper and Wyatt."
Buffy and Celia flame out.
In the Crone's Lair. Piper and Wyatt orb in and Leo yells. Buffy and Celia flames in.
"Oh, god." Piper says and she blows up the tank and Leo falls out. He coughs. "Are you okay?"
"The Crone." Leo says.
"Dead." Buffy says.
"And you two can see?" Leo asks.
Piper smiles, "Yeah. It was strange, like when it mattered most, we could almost read each other's minds. And I bet that was the same with you, Buffy?"
Buffy nods, "I think so."
"Yeah, it's always been there." Leo says.
"We never noticed before." Piper says.
"Maybe not consciously, but it's always been apart of what's made the power of three and the power of four so strong." Leo says.
"Quick question, Buffy. How did you get down here?" Piper says.
Buffy smiles, "Your little boy isn't the only one who can take mommy someplace. Dawn told her to take me to Leo incase you needed my help. She flamed us here."
"Really?" Piper asks. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised, after what Wyatt did." Leo coughs. "Sorry I couldn't get here sooner."
"It was awful, I couldn't orb." Leo says.
"But guess who could. Apparently he sensed his daddy in need." Piper says. "And as Buffy said all it took was a little encouragement from Dawn and Celia came right along, bringing Buffy with her."
"He sensed me and he orbed?" Leo asks. "And Celia flamed?"
Buffy nods, "Yeah, they're both coming into their powers really, really fast."
"You two nervous?" Leo says.
Piper and Buffy nods.
"A little. You know, a lot." Piper says.
"Well, they're gonna be fine. We all are." Leo says.
"We know." Buffy says.
Leo takes Piper and Buffy's hands and they orb out.
Later in the conservatory Phoebe's there taking down the posters pinned to the boards as Piper and Buffy walks in.
"Hmm, not going so good? National syndication's a big deal." Piper says.
Phoebe nods, "Yeah, that's what Jason said when he told me. And Elise and all the other reporters. And I was so busy listening to all them; I didn't ask myself what I wanted."
"Which would be what?" Buffy asks.
"To spend time with my family." Phoebe says.
Piper smiles, "Yay! Oh, sorry, go ahead."
"To ride rides with my nephew and niece and to not be one of those annoying cell phone people that the mimes make fun of." Phoebe says.
"So what are you gonna tell Jason?" Buffy asks.
"Mm, I'm gonna tell him exactly what I just told you two. And as my boss he's not gonna like it. But as my boyfriend, there are ways of bringing him around." Phoebe says.
"You do have ways." Piper says.
Phoebe nods, "Mm-hm."
