Chapter 1 Orange:Flame Spurted Out

Their was flying in an airship as they left to escape Vale. The airship engine roared through the sky as it took them a bit to get out of the city. They had to dodge several flying grimm in the skys to make it out of had five passenger that were being carried off to Argus in Mistral.

Those were Rogue Hayley and her father jaki hayley. Along with mercury black son of the infamous assassin marcus black. But their was also his friend Emerald Sustari who had an injured leg. And lastly Perun Crosby a rocker and founding member of the band days of mania.

Rogue was sitting next to her father jaki worried about where her sister was. But she was still upset about Tanners death. Her best friend just gave up his live to save hers.

In the airship with them was Merrcury her boyfriend who sat close to her. While Emerald sat across from them in the bullhead with her leg propped up. It was bandaged right now as the medics said that she might need a couple days of rest before walking on it.

Alongside them was Perun who seemed a little worried along with looking outside the window of the bullhead with sorrow in his eyes.

Rogue thought to herself where the others were that being their other friends. As she sat their she still felt sore from that gut stab she received from that scorpion faunus. But as she sat their she look at her father who was worried sick right now.

"Hey dad"rogue asked her father who looked at his daughter.

"What is it dear?"jaki asked calmly.

Rogue wanted to answer before she took a deep breath"do you think Eria and Pyrrha got out okay?"rogue asked

Jaki thought for a second wondering how to answer that right now. The cold weaponsmith took a deep breath and put on a small he rubbed his daughter head gently.

"I'm sure shes alright, that partner of your went back for her. "Jaki said

Rogue smiled a little happy to hear zane went back for her sister. But she could barely recalled where she saw him last. All she did was split off from the group going after that scorpian faunus then seeing tanner die.

Mercury was close by listening as she leaned back in his seat.

"Hey don't worry the guy probably got her out safe and sound right now"merucyr reassured as rogue smiled.

Emerald meanwhile was rubbing her leg because it felt sore"despite that seriously thanks for saving our asses back their"emerlad thanked

"It was no problem dear, though we have to thank a very close friend for buying us time"jaki said as the group got quiet a little.

Perun sighed as he covered his eyes"that dumb bastard"perun said getting some attetnion.

"Dude why are you calling him that?"mercury questioned looking at him.

"Yeah, I thought you two were best friends?"emerald added

The lighting rocker looked up with tears forming in his eyes, he had a small smile on his sniffed as he wiped a few tears from his eyes.

"We are…I just wish he didn't rush in like that. "Perun replied

Jaki slowly got up from his spot walking over to Perun. The rocker looked up at the cold man who looked at him with a sorrowful expression.

"What do you want?"perun asked softly.

The man then knelt down to the boy looking at him in the eyes. Both their eyes met as they stared at each other. Jaki then put a hand on perun shoulder.

"I'm so sorry for what happen to Tanner"jaki said

"But he did alot of good today it seems, all of those we lost today did."jaki said looking at perun.

"Yeah, that guy had a smile on his face till the end"mercury added with perun looking at him.

Rogue smiled a little because it seems tanner might have been happy before he died. But it still hurt alot hearing that he was dead. She couldn't believe she lost her uncle and best friend during the same time this heart hurt like it was just stabbed several times.

The rocker started to cry more as he jumped from his seat embracing the weaponsmith. Jaki was a little surprised by this as his eyes widden a little. But he returned the embrace comforting the boy.

As they flew for another ten minutes Rogues scroll soon buzzed. Along with Mercury and Emeralds which confused them. Rogue looked down seeing a message from Zane on her scroll saying goodbye.

"Umm anyone else get a message from your leader"emerald asked looking toward Rogue.

"I did too what does he mean by goodbye?"mercury asked as jaki intensively listened.

"I don't know"Rogue said worried as she tapped the message shown. A video clip was attached to it which worried her. She hesitativley pressed play on it seeing her friend and partner their.

Her eyes sunk a little because he looked to be half dead by that point.

"Hey guys its me the lovable joksteer of Team ZERO and leader of said team. You may be wondering why I'm sending you this message. Dammit this is going to be tough"Zane voice echoed as she heard a sigh and deep breath.

Mercury looked at the video watching it with rogue. He looked over at her as she had a sadden expression on her face. She was shaking a little seeing this because it meant something she didn't want to her.

"Okay why did he send a video"emerald asked as no one answered her.

Jaki looked over confused while Perun decided to lay down for a bit. He needed some rest after fighting for so long in Vale. The rocker was sound asleep as he used a seat to sleep on.

"Is everything alright, did he find Eria?"jaki asked with hope.

But his daughter didn't answer as she watched the video play out.

"You see after today with what….I did to Penny. I couldn't stop thinking about what I did to her. I felt…guilt, shame, regret and fear at the same time. I have her blood on my hands….and everytime I close my eyes now I see her bloody dead lifeless body"Zane echoed with regret in his voice.

Though mercury listened to that part with the same feeling it seems. You never forget your first kill, sometimes you can either feel pleasure from it or regret it. He was there in the guys shoes before and he understood.

But from what he's seeing it looks like the guy sent a final goodbye to his teammates and friends.

Emerald watched a little as she sighed leaning her head against the metal wall of the bullhead. She didn't like the sound of that and just hoped Cinder made it out okay with Pyrrha.

Jaki walked over looking at his daughter who was trying hard not to cry again.

"Rogue sweetie, what are you watching?"jaki aksed trying to get more information as the video as Rogue hand still shook.

"So the reason I'm sending this message to you all is because I don't…deserve to be your friend or someone special to one of you"Zane's voice echoed as she saw him smile a little in it.

They just kept listening for another minute it seems wondering where this was going. But jaki seemed to understand where this message was going it seems. It sounded like her leader and partner left them a goodbye message.

He thought that boy was a monster planning to hurt his little girls. But when he started to apolgize to him in the camp. Jaki saw how the boy had a face full of regret all over his face.

"Everytime i'm in that form….my mind isn't right. I…lose control…and everytime I turn into that monstrous form. I almost killed someone…and now that it finally happened…..i'm scared. If that happens again I'm scared… I could kill one of you"Zane voice continued as he shifted to his slasher form then titan form then coughed violently in pain holding his side.

"No zane…please don't"rogue said as tears began to stream down her face upon hearing more of the message. He looked like he was on his last leg trying to say this message.

Mercury put an arm around her to comfort his girlfriend. She just stared at the message with a worried look on her face. Jaki didn't like the sound of the message because it sounds like her friend might be dead.

"Why don't we stop the video for now Rogue"jaki said as he reached for the scroll.

But rogue pulled it back glaring at him with tears in her eyes. The man sighed heavily because she maybe wanted to see how the message ends it seems. But it probably eneds with this boy telling her he was planning on dying in that city.

"Umm maybe you should turn off the video. That doens't sound like it'll be good news"Emerald suggested as Rogue ignored her.

"That's why….i'm staying in Vale. I helped cause this mess, might as well help fix it. You may think I'm coming back…but I won't be. I know….I know you're all going to try and save my ugly mugg from dying. "Zane's voice echoed, sounding scared with labored with a coughing fit being heard as blood could be seen.

Rogue went wide eyed at this as she covered her eyes shaking her head. Her leader and partner was partiaully dying on screen right now. And she couldn't believe right now and was hoping it wasn't true.

"No…..no…..no"rogue muttered several times as she clutched her scroll with her friend hand.

"Holy shit"mercury said a little shocked at what he just saw. The guy literally coughed up a bunch of blood like it was nothing to him. Which worried him that this guy might be a goner actually.

"What, did something happen?"emerald asked confused but mercury shook her head not to say anything. Emerald looked at him and gently nodded to keep her mouth shut for a bit. Perun was slightly awake as he heard crying and just stayed quiet for now.

"Dammit….god dammit…your such a fricking idiot Zane"rogue said as she slid her finger on her scroll skipping through she did something came up that made her tear up a little more.

"Then their Rogue, our genius tinker of the group. Keep working on those inventions of yours. You may act dumb sometimes but you're really smart. I was glad to be your partner on our team."Zane voice said as rogue started to hear a ringing noise around her.

All she could think now is that she just heard her partner, leader and friend was gone. She gripped her scroll tight in her hands as she shut her eyes tight. Then her eyes shot wide open as she then moved her hand backward launching her scroll into the wall of the bullhead.

A clanking and cracking sound could be heard from it. The scroll fell to the ground busted as circuits and wires stuck out from it. It sparked a little as some glass from the screen scattered on the ground.

All the blonde tinker could do was throw her head back into the wall of the bullhead crying. She was devastated right now, all that work she put into protecting her teammates. Now he send her a dumb message saying goobye like he didn't want to come back.

"No! You stupid idiot all that work I put in protecting you and the others on our team!"rogue cried as the other sat their sielntly.

"Rouge its okay, i'm here for you"jaki said in a calming voice trying to reassure his daughter everything will be okay. But it wasn't she just heard her leader and partner death right now.

"W-why…why does everyone I care about have to die this time of year"rogue asked as she cried as a stream of tears came down her face.

"I don't know dear…I don't know"jaki said sadly trying to comfort his daughter. She just lost three people she cared deeply about right now.

Close by mercury looked at her with worry in his eyes, he slowly moved his hand over her. She felt his hand as she looked up at him with red eyes and tears streaming down her face. Rogue then gripped mercury hand as tight as she can.

Mercury smiled at her as she layed her head against his shoulder as she began to cry even more. She soon buried her face into his shoulder as muffled crys and sobs coule be heard. Jaki sighed as he took a seat next to her rubbing his face over his eyes.

"Eria where are you sweetie"jaki thought to himself wondering if he got his daughter out of their in time.

As they stood their for a bit emerald leg was still propped up. She sighed looking at the sight infront of her because it was just sad. That girl just lost another person today she cared about.

Emerald sat their for a bit but then a pulse went off in her mind. She rubbed her head for a second almost feeling like something was off. But after a bit of thinking she knew what is meant. Soon tears suddenly came to her eyes as she began to weep.

Mercury looked over at emerald worried why she was crying exactly. What happened to his friend suddenly made her cry.

"Emerald something wrong?"mercury asked

"It's cinder….she's dead"emerald replied as she covered her face as more tears came to her eyes.

Mercury's eyes grew large with anger as she gently let go of Rogue hand. He stood up and looked at the bullhead wall in front of him. His eyes were filed with rage right now and he lifted his right hand back

He balled it up in a fist and then swung hard into the wall of the bullhead. A small thud could be heard as he cried out in rage and sadness. He hung his head down as tears came to his eyes as he wept for his friend.

"No not cinder…..those dam bastards"mercury cried in rage as he look at his fist. All his knuckles were broken open as blood started to seep from them. But he didn't care right now as he took a seat next to rogue looking at her.

She looked up at him as the two just embraced each other sadden by hearing the news of both their food friends dying. Jaki sat their looking at the group of young teens sadden to be here seeing them like this.

All he hoped now is that they got home soon. That his wife calida was okay and can console their daughters on their loss. The bullhead sped off toward it destination for Argus. As it did another bull head followed close by it with a few passengers they know.

About eighteen hours later their bullhead was getting closer and closer to their destination Argus. Their lucky the airspace was clear at the military base for them to land. But the rest of the ride was in silence because no one really wanted to talk to each other right now.

As they sat their rogue was messing with the red piece of cloth around her hand like crazy now. She kept pulling at it and untying it several times and retying it. It helped keep her calm at times. Though right now she wasn't calm she was just upset at losing two of her close friends in one day.

"Why do they have to leave me on the same day uncle dravan did. "Rogue thought to herself looking out the window as they began to begin their descent making a landing.

"This day can't get any worse"rogue thought as she stared at the piece of cloth in her right hand.

The engine hummed a little as they slowly died down once the ship landed on the ground. It rocked a little as it did and everyone moved around a little. But the ship pilot upfront soon emerged from the cockpit looking at the group,

"Mr hayley we've successfully made it back to Argus"the pilot announced.

"Thank you soldier….and thank you for your service"jaki thanked as the soldier gently nodded.

The pliot then went to help emerald up as she still had a sadden expression on her face after relizing Cinder was gone. She just couldn't belvie she died right now, she said that it might happen. But it was too soon, she gave her a life no one else could have.

The pilot gently tapped the girl on the shoulder and she looked up at him.

"Here let me help you off ma'am"the pilot said

Emerald laughed"ma'am….funny"emerald said smiling a little.

The pilot sighed as he gestured for her to grab his hand and the girl sighed heavily. She grabbed the pilot hand as he pulled her up. Emerald felt a little bit of pain in her leg but the pilot helped support her by wrapping her arm around his shoulder.

The two slowly made their way along with Perun who stared at the ground sadden by today events. He just hoped that tanner family won't hate him for not helping his best friend out. But right now he hoped Eria was okay right now.

Jaki was getting up from his spot as he looked at his daughter still leaning against mercury with a sadden look.

"Sweetie its time to leave the ship"jaki said to his daughter getting your attention.

"Okay"rogue softly said as she got up alongside mercury.

He looked at her worried"don't worry sunshine…i'll help you through this"mercuyr reassrued rogue who smiled.

"Thanks…metal legs"rogue retorted back with a small smile as mercury did to.

"Lets just hope your sister got out okay"jaki said as the three joined the others near the exit ramp. They made their way down the ramp and it was pretty dark out in the sky right now. The stars were out right now as some small noises oculd be heard.

The sound of crickets filled the air along with machinery and soldier walking around the place. They were in Argus military base after all right now. A few soilder walked over to them one being a captain it seems.

"Good evening sir, are you from Vale?"he asked

"Yes, we are why do you ask?"jaki questioned.

"Just wanted to see since we're treating everyone who came from the city"the captain replied

Rogue ears perked up a little at that maybe pyrrha or eria got out.

"Hey did anyone else arrive a girl with red hair named pyrrha nikos or a girl with teal hair?"rogue asked nerovusly along with everyone else having a nervous expression.

The captain shook his head to her question but looked out of the corner of his eye. He saw another bullhead arrive it seems as the engines died down. Then it slowly shut its engine down as the door began to open.

"Hmm we haven't had anyone like that arrive yet"he begun before putting his arms behind his back.

"But it appears another bullhead arrived"the captain said as the group turned to see the bullhead that just arrived.

The group waited in anticiaptation for who was going to come out. Rogue just hoped it was Eria and Pyrrha safe and sound after escaping Vale. As they waited the doors soon opened to reveal a familiar face to her.

The ice queen of Beacon stepped out alongside her sister and former ice queen Winter Schnee. Their she saw Weiss who had a sorrowufl look in her eyes.

The schnee girl slowly walked out before glancing out of the corner of her eyes. She went wide eyed looking at the group who smiled at her.

"Hey its weiss that means they made it"emerald said which seemed to put them in a better mood.

"Nice, that means your sister made it out alive. It seems your leader kept his word"jaki said smiling happy that his daughter might have made it out alive.

Perun eyes lit up a little happy to hear that eria might have made it out alive. Rogue walked forward a little waiving to Weiss. Weiss looked at her with saddeness in her eyes as she began to cry a little.

Rogue's eyes sank a little seeing this because she wondered why the girl was crying exactly. Before Rogue could say anything to the girl.

The ice queen turned away from her as she covered her face crying it seems. Winter looked at her with a sadden expression as she walked over to comfort her little sister. Winter embraced weiss tightly as weiss buried her face into winter.

"Why is she crying?"emerald asked worried

"I-I don't know, did something…happen?"mercruy asked concerned.

"No..no…don't tell me eria gone too…please"rogue said as they waited for someone else to come out of the bullhead.

As they waited for a few minutes some soldier emerged from the bullhead. One jumped down as the other started to hand him something. The soldier was given what appeared to be a stretcher from the looks of it.

The soldier got handed one end of the stretcher as they slowly pulled it down. Rogue looked at the stretcher and immediately saw someone familiar to her. Their on the stretcher was her twin sister Eria. She smiled a little seeing that she was okay.

She had on a breathing mask and seemed to be sleeping right now. Jaki looked worried as he sprinted over to his daughter worried about her. As he did the other slowly made their way over to see if they were okay.

The soldier were setting Eria done gently because she was barely conscious right now. One soldier stayed with her to monitor her condition it seems.

"Hey kid you alright can you hear me blink once for yes twice for no"the soldier asked

Eria blinked once as the soilder nodded to her.

"Good just hang in their right now kid, we'll get you through this."the soldier said but he looked up to see jaki running over.

"Sir please step back thi–"the soldier begun but jaki stopped him.

"Thats my daughter is she alright?"jaki asked as he kenlt over Eria who slowly turned her eyes to him.

Her father smiled as a few tears came from his face that were of joy. Both of his daughter made it out alive and he layed on top of her hugging her but making sure not to lift her. He was happy she was okay but he wondered why she had an iv drip on.

"Why does she have an iv drip?"jaki questioned looking at the soilder.

"Sir you may need to prepare yourself for what your going to se"the soldier said getting jaki attention.

"What are you talking about?"jaki asked

"Is she going to die!? Don't tell me my daughter is going to die!"jaki shouted as he grabbed the soldier shaking him.

The soilder put his hand on jaki pushing them down and he sighed heavily. Soon perun joined them as did the others. Rogue looked at her sister smiling a little but soon she looked down a little as her eyes covered her mouth as she began to cry, because she looked down to see her twin sister missing her right leg.

"no..Eria ''rogue said, which caught her fathers attention. He turned to her and looked at her looking at something. Jaki followed his daughter's gaze as he looked down in shock at what he was seeing.

Their in front of him was his daughter who was missing her right leg halfway up the thigh. A bloody banagded wrapped it around it. Eria was a little awake as she looked at the group with a sadden expression.

"No not my little girl...not her"jaki said as she clenched his fist as he began to cry.

Perun looked at eria as he knelt down next to her. She smiled a little at him and he returned it. Perun grabbed her hand gently squeezing it and she weakly returned it.

Mercury sighed heavy but at least she got the best prothesetic in all of argus. Then he looked at rogue who was upset but seemed a little happy to see her sister alive.

"Told you sunshine, your sister got out okay sort of"mercury said as rogue tapped him in the rubbed his side a little smiling.

"Shut up"Rogue retorted as she wiped some tears from her face. But soon Weiss and Winter joined the group sorrowful expression.

"Weiss, you made it did Ruby make it?"emerald asked.

Weiss shrugged her shoulder as she still had tears in her wiped a few away glancing down at Eria who was missing a leg.

"I'm sorry…I-I wasnt fast enough"weiss said apolgizing it seems.

Jaki raised an eyebrow at her"what do you mean by that?"jaki questioned.

"Yeah, what do you mean by that?"perun asked as he looked at eria whos chest barely rised a little as she looked exhausted.

Weiss sniffed a little as she rubbed her eyes to explain it seems.

"Me,Ruby and her were fighting grimm until Jaune called us, saying pyrrha and Cinder were in trouble at went back for Pyrrha….we fought Scar and Rosemary"Weiss began quivering with each word. She was visible shaken it seems from today events. Winter placed a hand on her little sister shoulder to reassure her.

"Weiss you don't need to continue"winter reassured but weiss shook her head telling her no.

"No let her continue, who did this?"rogue asked with tears in her eyes pointing down at her sister missing leg.

The ice queen sniffed a little"I..couldn't stop her from doing it to her"weiss answered as they knew who they meant. Rosemary cut her twin sisters leg off and rogue clenched her fist. But they said they went back for Pyrrha.

Which mean they must have rescued her from them and shes with them.

"Wait does that means pyrrha with you?"rogue asked with hope in her voice.

"Yeah, did she make it out okay?"emerald added as she leaned against the pilot for support.

Winter sighed heavily as she put her arms behind her back closing her eyes. While Weiss legs were shaking a little. Soon her leg gave way as she knelt on the ground shaking her head as she cried.

"Pyrrha…Pyrrha she…she–"wiess tried to say before a soldier said something getting their attention.

"Hey help me get her down"a soldier said

"Here i'll help you, kid deserves some respect"the soldier said

"Pyrrha…pyrrha are you okay?"rogue called out hearing no one call back. Maybe she was resting like eria was. Rogue looked down at her sister smiling. But her expression quickly changed seeing her sister crying right now.

Tears streamed down her face as she tried to talk it seems. They could barely hear what she was saying right now. Perun looked at this as he removed her breathing mask to let her speak.

"Eria what is it, what are you trying to say?"perun asked looking at her

Eria took a deep breath of air as she coughed a little looking at them, the girl was trying to get some air in her lungs.

"rogue…Zane he didn't make it….they killed him"eria weakly replied

"We know…we saw his message"mercury said kneeling down next to Eria alongside Rogue who frowned at this.

"But at least pyrrha made it out okay it seems"rogue said as Eria and Weiss went silent.

Weiss chocked a little as she began to sob a little getting their attention. Eria had the same expression on her face shaking her head. She was crying as well as she was barely conscious.

"Rogue…Pyrrha…she…didn't make it"eria said with saddeness in her voice not wanting to tell her sister the news. Rogue looked at her as her eyes went wide at this.

"No..no your lying pyrrha would never lose shes the champion of sanctum"Rogue said not beleiivng it.

"Weiss tell us shes lying please"perun asked looking at her.

Winter sighed as she knelt down grabbing rogue hands. Rogue looked at the atlas specialist who had sadness in her eyes. Winter slowly shook her head at the girl telling her they weren;t .

"Come on your joking right….Cinder might be gone but pyrrha must have made it out"mercury said not wanting to think it did happen.

Soon enough the soldiers from the bullhead brought out another stretcher with them. They gently walked over to the group with regret on their faces it seems. The soldier placed the stretcher down gently as Rogue went wide eyed.

Then she began to cry even more as her eye stung from all the crying today. Everyone else looked over stun to see who was their on the stretcher. Their on the stretcher was pyrrha who eyes were closed and her hands layed out on her sides.

Along with that her sword layed on her right hand while her shield layed on top of her. But her face looked peaceful as a small smile was on it. Suggesting she passed on happy it seems as her eyes were closed. She at least deserved that much after her actions began to hick and and put both her hands on the ground. Then below her small droplets of tears began to cover the ground as she started to ugly cry right now.

Perun closed his eyes looking over at pyrrha who layed dead as he wept as well. Emerald sniffed a little as a few tears came from her eyes looking at it. Mercury went wided eye as she clenched his fist as he tried to not let any tears escape.

But he couldn't stop them as they begen to seep from his eyelids. While Rogue just cried out in pain but not from physical pain. It was emotional pain from losing her big sisster figure.

"Why!? Why did pyrrha have to go!"rogue cried out as she began to pound on the ground like a tantrum.

"Rogue i'm sorry we weren–"Weiss began as rogue stopped her with anger in her eyes it seems.

"Shut up!"rogue shouted at her while she still cried. Right now she didn't want to hear anything from her. Especially after today, she should have looked out for her sister and pyrrha. Now her sisters missing a leg and pyrrhas gone.

Weiss backed up a little from this with saddence in her eyes. Her older sister sighed reaching out to the girl who threw her hand at the girl telling her to step back.

"Rogue sweetie…it'll be alright"jaki said as he walked over to his daughter embracing her tightly.

"Dammit….those bastards"mercury said as he rubbed his eyes.

"Perun"eria weakly called out to him. He heard her as he walked over to seeing what she wanted.

"What is it Eria?"perun questioned looking over at her.

Eria looked around weakly wondering where someone was, a certain loud mouth was missing.

"Wheres…tanner?"Eria asked quietly while she took a deep breath.

Perun eyes went wide as more tear began to come from his eyes right looked over at him as she figured out what that meant. She began to cover her eyes crying now and winter frowned looking at the group.

"He…he…didn't make it….some scorpian faunus kill him. My best friend gone"perun said inbetween just looked at him as she let more tears escape as she slowly passed out it seems.

The soldier then seemed worried as they grabbed the girls stretcher and looked at her.

"We gotta head to the hospital now double time"the medic ordered

"She needs to go through surgery"another added as they hurried off with Eria stretcher. Though princess ice queen just layed their crying. The others soon follow them as they went into the back of a truck. They all loaded up as they were going to be making their way to the hospital.

Perun just looked over Eria as he wept more after hearing about pyrrha death. Along with that Weiss went with them to make sure Eria was alright. Mercury was trying his best to comfort rogue along with Jaki. Emerald just held her head as tears began to stream down her face.

Rogue just buried her face into her father shoulder mad right now and was upset. Rogue just kept crying as she learned about her sister lose of limb. Along with that her partner death, tanner death and now Pyrrha gone too.

But soon she narrowed her gaze knowing exactly who she could blame for this. Team BRAS they took her loved one away from her. Now she was going to find them and they'll pay for what they did to her. The gauntlet gem flickered a little shining in the darkness that was illuminated by the base lights.
