A/N: one, most plot holes will be fixed next chapter. Two, if you're reading this and it hasn't been updated in a while, don't worry, I'm still working on it! Three, it's been awhile sense I've played on tilted, so forgive me for getting the layout wrong.
X Lord sat in the Polar Peak cafeteria in a sort of catatonic state, staring at the icy table that sat in front of him. Omega walked up with a slurp juice in hand.
"Here X, take it," Omega said. X Lord didn't even move. "Come on man, you've been like this for a long time, you've gotta get something in your system." X continued to stare. "Alright buddy."
Omega got on one knee and reached for X's mask hoping to pull it up and force feed X the Slurp juice.
What actually happened was, the moment Omega laid a finger on the mask, X grabbed it and turned his head towards Omega, "no touchies."
X grabbed the Slurp Juice bottle and chugged it. He was about finished when a snow husk approached them.
"Rh rhowr?" He said.
"Yeah Nate?" X responded
"Ruh Reahy?"
"*sigh* yeah…"
"Rh rah ruh row."
X lord stood up and walked with Omega over to the Ice Kings throne room.
"Hey X," the king said as the two entered the room, "glad to see that you're doing ok. Omega gave me the report already, and I'm sorry that you had to go through that."
"Thanks for your sympathy boss, but if you already got the report from Omega, then why did you call me?"
"Because of two things, the first being I need you to tell me about Omega. Is he a good fit?"
X lord looked at Omega, and in the moment he thought about all they've talked about. About all Omega's been through, about all he's been through. If anyone deserved to be apart of this family, it's him.
"Yeah, Omegas fine," X lord said, "give him some knowledge of Gun Fu or something like that and some therapy and he'll fit right in!"
"Not gonna lie, a henchmen who knows Gun fu actually sounds pretty dope idea," Ice King said, "However, I can't do that right now cause I'm sending you two to tilted towers, immediately."
"What why?"
"Because it's currently under siege right now, and I need more reinforcements to help hold it."
"Wait," Omega said, "why are you sending the joe schmoes rather than the actually super powered people?"
"Because from what the reports say, it's a pathetically small attack, meaning this could be a distraction for an even bigger follow up attack on polar peak. If that's the case, I want my most powerful assets here," Ice King said, "besides, I already sent Ice Knight out there, so her power combined with you guys, combined with the might of the warriors in Tilted, and y'all should be able to hold it."
"Alrighty then," X lord said, "lemme get my (bleep) real quick, and we'll be off."
A few hours earlier
Grill was still sore from getting his (bleep) handed to him earlier, but he could move and aim properly, so he'd be able to hold his own during the invasion.
He looked towards Tilted Towers as it slowly appeared over the horizon. There were only Eleven of them, how were they supposed to take the entire city? He looked at the twin Deagles he held on to, one had the word Grill engraved in it, and the other… the word Rust. What if they met again in Tilted? What if he found himself at the end of Rust's gun again. What if he found Rust at the end of his own?
"Alrighty folks! We're here!" Eon said, "y'all remember the plan?"
"I do," Ghoul said, "the main capture points are, the apartment with the basement, the clock tower, and The Basket Ball Court. We're splitting up into teams to hopefully take each tower. The people going after clock tower, aka me and the default squad, are tasked with knocking it over, which will hopefully distract most of the husks. When that happens, the other two squads will go over and take out the human beings occupying their area. Once everyone's in the clear we all make a move on the Big Blue tower in the middle, aka Prez tower. Everyone aware of their posts?"
"Yeah!" Everyone except for grill said in unison.
"Alright Ghoul," Eon said, "you didn't have to steal my thunder like that…"
"Alright team, break!" Ghoul said.
They all scattered into their groups, with Brite Bomber, Drift (of (bleepen) course) Centerion and Venturion going to their corner leaving Grill with Cobalt and Eon. His team snuck behind the Basketball court and waited for the signal.
"So," Grill said out of boredom, "how long have you been a superhero for?"
"Damn near 5 seasons…" Eon said.
"Ok kewl, when did y'all form the Super Squad?" Cobalt followed up with.
"We formed back in season 4 when Carbide sent us all a signal to meet up at his mansion," Eon responded, "he said something along the lines of 'this worlds dangers are too big for us to handle alone… so we should squad up!' And just like that we were squaded up."
"How long have you been leading?" Cobalt asked.
"Since you guys came back without Valor. It's a shame how many leaders we've lost."
"What do you mean by that?" Grill asked.
"Well, before all this happened, Carbides second in command betrayed all of us, getting rid of that potential leader. Then, as we've said, during the initial meteor strike, Carbide died immediately, almost as if the chemical that turned others into husks was also fine tuned to kill him. Then you guys know about Valor, and that just leaves me."
Grill thought hard on that for minute, before he connected a few thoughts, "Hey Eon, that traitor you mentioned, what was his name?"
"Why do you wanna know?"
"Because I'm trying to make sense of some things in my head."
"Oh, well his name was Ome-"
CRSH* the clock tower came falling down.
"Oh, that's the signal, maybe we can talk next time though…" Eon said.
The team stormed the Basketball court taking down all the husks occupying the area easily. The only thing that gave them trouble were a couple of frozen default skins.
"Come in basement squad, this is basket ball court, we're all done here, I repeat basketball court is all clear here," Eon said.
"*crck* all clear here at basement, I repeat all clear here," Venturion said.
"Alright folks, let's move onto Prez tower," Eon said.
As they entered though the restaurant part of the building, they were meet with an abundance of bullets coming from a bunch of men in masks.
"THEY'RE TRYING TO GET TO THE BROKER!" One of them yelled out, "go protect him we got this."
Some of the the men made their way towards the stairs and went up them.
Eon's hands started glowing a bright green.
"Stand back," she said before forming it into a ball and throwing it towards the men firing upon them. It exploded in a bright green fashion upon impact.
That seemed to lighten the fire just enough for the group to move up and hide behind the circular shaped tables as the firing started to pick up again.
Grill nailed one in the head and Cobalt shot one in the knee that caused him to fall over in pain.
"Hold your fire," Eon said as her body started to glow green. She hopped over the table she was hiding behind ran towards the men jumped to their level and exploded as she landed.
"Come on folks, let's go!" Eon said.
As they made their way up the stairs, they heard what seemed to be struggling between Drift and an Ice character; however more men were firing at them from above the stairs. Grill and Cobalt laid suppressing fire at the men for just long enough that they'd stop firing back, letting their group go up the stairs much easier.
When they got up there, Eon beat the crap out of the two men and they made their way towards the stairs that would take them up to the inside balcony part. When they got up, they saw Ice Knight standing on top of Centerion's unconscious body while holding Drift by the neck. She was standing next to an man in black armor who was pointing a gun at an unconscious Venturion's face.
"I didn't think it was possible," Ice Knight said as she brought Drift closer to her face, "but you're somehow weaker than the last time we fought. Why is that? Could it be fighting with your daughter took more of a toll on your body than you expected… or could it be the need to protect your wife holding you back? Or could it be…"
"Omega?" Eon said.
"Eon…" Omega said looking at her, "I-I thought you were dead!"
"Oh would you look at this!" Ice Knight said, "it's a friendly reunion! Makes sense that y'all would know each other, considering y'all's get up looks so similar."
Ice Knight dropped drift to the floor, "unfortunately, I'm going to need to dispose of you too…"
Right as Ice Knight got into a fighting stance, Eon tackled her out the window and onto the streets below. Grill and Cobalt put their fists up, ready to fight Omega when out of the shadows a much more finely dressed man in a mask ran out of the shadows, picked up grill by the legs, and ran his (bleep) over to the edge of the indoor balcony where he threw Grill off of it and on to the floor below them.
As Grill took a moment to gather his bearings, he heard a struggle upstairs, it sounded like Cobalt getting punched and kicked before being thrown off the balcony and on to the ground too.
"Agh!" Cobalt said before hastily getting up.
Grill slowly got up as the man in the mask jumped down and faced the two.
"Lemme guess, you're the broker," Cobalt said.
"My friends call me broker, but you can call me Ice Broker," He said, "and I'm about to kick your (bleep)"
Cobalt and Grill rushed Broker, each throwing their own punch at Broker, and Broker dodging each punch. They threw another and Broker dodged both of them. Frustrated, Cobalt threw a kick at Broker, Broker caught it and used it to swing Cobalt a Grill, knocking grill over, before throwing Cobalt into the wall behind them.
Grill got up and threw three punches at Broker, and Broker dashed back three times. Grill threw a hook at Broker and Broker dodged and counter hit Grill in the face.
Cobalt got up and tried to get back into the fight, however Omega landed right in front of him.
"I'm sorry about this," Omega said before cracking Cobalt across the jaw.
Cobalt got back up and threw several punches at Omega, however he blocked them before cracking Cobalt across the jaw again
These two weird tangos went on for a few minutes before a couple of people jumped down behind Broker. It was Drift, Brite Bomber, Venturion and Centurion.
BOOM* just then Ice Knight fell through the roof of the building with Eon following after.
"Surrender now, and we just might let you live," Eon said.
Ice Knight looked to broker.
"The King has got one more plan up his sleeve," Ice Knight said, "he told me to tell you that he's Genuinely sorry, but we need to break a few eggs to make an omlet."
Before Ice Broker could respond, Ice Knight made a deagle out of ice and shot him square in the chest.
"BROKER NO!" Ice Knight screamed as his body fell over.
"broker?" A male voice called out.
"Dad?" A female voice followed.
Everyone turned around to see Rust Lord coming up the stairs while being followed by Omegas and a Woman in a mask.
"DAD! NO!" The girl said as she rushed to Brokers body.
Rust walked slowly over to Brokers body, got on one knee, and placed a hand on his face. He sighed before looking at Grill.
"You did this," Rust said.
an hour earlier*
X lord and Omega arrived at tilted to see darn near the entire town in chaos. Iace met them at the front.
"Uncle X!" She called out.
"Iace! Where's your father?" X asked.
"He's guarding Prez tower right now! He told me to go out and try to subdue the attackers before they reached the tower!"
X nodded, "Alright then, if that's what he wants then I'll help you out. Omega, while we're out here, I want you to go to Prez tower and help Broker defend it, got it?"
Omega nodded.
So X and Iace ran towards L towers, where X heard a woman do a mix of a scream and a grunt.
"Crystal?!" Iace yelled.
When they entered the vicinity of L towers, someone started firing at them. X grabbed Iace and ducked the two of them behind a bush. They both peeked from their cover and they were met with a volley of bullets.
They heard a series of clicking and curse words before more bullets were fired at them.
X and Iace looked at each other and X nodded at her as if to say "you wanna take this one?"
Soon the bullets stopped and the clicking started again. That was when Iace peeked from her cover and shot the enemy dead on in the head.
They both got up from their cover and as they approached the towers, they started hearing voices coming from it.
"I know I'm not supposed to question your authority Ghoul," one voice said, "but I told you this wasn't apart of the plan and that we shouldn't've gone against it!"
"Alright, I will admit that I should've listened when they said darn near no one was guarding L towers so we shouldn't worry about it," the other said, "but you've gotta admit, atleast we know they're not mindless drones now! They do indeed have souls and personalities."
X and Iace were halfway up when they heard a loud boom come from Prez tower. They both looked to see that it was Ice Knight getting tackled out of it. They both continued on.
"Whatever, just hand me the small shield pot, it should be in the back of the med kit…"
X opened the door, "what the (bleep) is going on here," he saw Ghoul and ND#1 standing in front of Crystal who was bleeding out from her side.
"Rusty?" She said.
"Ghoul…"
It had been awhile since he had last seen her face. It was still just as pretty tho. Rust wondered if she still liked him the same after he had betrayed them.
"Crystal?!" Iace rushed to her side and held her head up.
"Ace?" Crystal responded, "is that you?"
"Yeah it's me," Iaced responded, "are you ok?"
"I-I'm not sure," Crystal said, "listen, Iace, you're just the person I need to see. If I don't make it, I want you to know, that I like you. Like, like you like you. I've liked you for a long time, but I was too afraid to say anything."
X stared at the scene before him before turning to Ghoul, "what happened?"
"Rust, I swear we're just trying to help her," Ghoul said, "we were approaching L towers when we heard a loud bang followed by one of our men dropping. We engaged in a lengthy gun fight just outside of the towers, but we were eventually able to infiltrate the L towers and corner her. Once I got a clear shot, I took it, and she let out a loud grunt of pain. I entered and saw her in the ground holding her wound. I looked into her eyes right as I was about to finish her off, but that's when I noticed that these weren't the regular mindless, emotionless eyes of the Husks, but the fearful eyes of a person," Ghoul looked back at Rust, "Rusty, are these people real?"
Rust looked at her, "yeah, they are. They're all just people created by Ice King, following his orders so that one day we may all live in the promised Utopia."
Iace looked at ND#1, "do you really think you can help her?"
X cocked his Six Shooter and pointed it at ND#1, "he better!"
ND#1 put his hands up, "woah! Of course I can, that's what I was just doing. Just hand me the small shield potion real quick."
X went into the medkit, pulled it out, and handed it to ND#1. ND#1 turned to Crystal and put the bottle to her lips, "drink this."
She swallowed several gulps before her body glowed and healed all the way up.
"Crystal?!" Iace said.
"Hey Iace," Crystal said in a healthier voice.
"You're ok!" Iace said before leaning in and kissing her.
"Yeah I am," she said once Iace stopped.
X couldn't help but smile at the scene. He suddenly felt someone wrap their arms around him. It was Ghoul.
"I missed you Rusty," she said.
Rust Lord was stunned in silence for a bit before hugging her back and saying, "I missed you too."
They stayed like that for a minute before Crystal spoke up, "Mr. X?"
"Yes?"
"Before they attacked me, I noticed some people headed for Prez Tower. I think they might be under attack."
"Sonuva(bleep). Alright, Crystal, Iace, on me. Ghoul, ND#1, don't follow us."
And so they left L towers and made their way towards Prez tower.
When they entered the restaurant, they saw that it was littered with dead bodies.
"Holy (bleep)," Iace said.
"Yeah…" X responded, "let's get up there before more lives are lost."
They went up the stairs, only to find more bodies.
It was when they got close that they heard
BANG*
Followed by a scream "BROKER NO!"
"Broker?!" X's heart filled with dread as he heard those words. The group rushed to the top and saw…
Brokers dead body on the floor.
"DAD NO!" Iace yelled as she ran to his body.
X lord didn't want to believe what he was seeing. Broker was just knocked out after a fight. However that bang did suggest otherwise. And there was a large bullet hole in his chest. X lord walked towards his body, got on his knee, and checked Brokers pulse.
"*sigh*" there was no pulse.
X then looked at the bullet hole, and that's when he realized, he recognized the size and shape of the bullet hole.
He looked up and around saw that there was only one person who was holding a deagle.
He stood up and turned to Grill, "Did you do this?"
Grill stood there and looked as X lord in shock.
"YOU BITCH!"
He jumped on Grill and started beating on him, with every punch seeming to be stronger than the last.
He heard some commotion in the background, but every noise was muffled out over the ringing in X lords ears.
His hands got more and more bloody with every punch until they were drenched with it.
Soon Rusty got tired, and stopped for a bit. It was in that moment that Rusty looked in to Grills severely bruised eyes, and saw his friend, his cousin from all those seasons ago staring back at him.
A tear rolled down his eye. He missed those times, and he wished he could go back.
But X lord knew he couldn't go back, that this was the way things were now. So he buried those feelings deep in his heart, lifted up his fist and…
Someone grabbed him. X lord turned and saw that it was Omega.
"I'm sorry," he said before grabbing his Rift to Go, shaking it, and teleporting them both back to Polar Peak.
