Flying under the buildings of Gotham City, Batman saw the invaders attacking the city while the police force show difficulty repelling the enemies. If this kept up, they'd dominate Gotham in a matter of hours.
Not if it depends on Batman.
Activating the Batjet's firearms, he opened fire on the Tarkatanians who were heading towards the police barrier. But soon his focus had to be turned to something else as he saw flying creatures accompany the Batjet.
Performing evasive maneuvers, he managed to get away from the winged monsters and open fire on them. Many were shot down in the air, falling into the streets and crushing a few Tarkatanians in the process.
Seeing that people needed assistance below but not being able to let these creatures continue flying, he engaged the autopilot and ejected from the Batjet, leaving the flying vehicle to deal with the monsters in automatic combat mode.
A policeman was hiding behind a barricade and didn't even notice the Tarkatanian coming. Just as the humanoid monster was about to gobble the officer's head, Batman landed on Tarkatanian's head right away.
"There are people in that building." Said Batman to the policeman. "Get them out of there."
"Y-yes sir." The policeman said and went to the building.
Batman turns and sees a small horde of Tarkatanians approaching. He snaps his knuckles and walks calmly towards the horde.
"Alfred, how's the study of these creatures going?" He asks the butler.
"Sir, it seems that the physiology of these creatures is not that different from a human being," Alfred said.
"So dealing with them will be no different than dealing with simple thugs," Batman says with a few meters from the first enemy.
He blocks Tarkatanian's blade and hits him in the neck, putting him on the ground in time. Another tries to slice him in half, but Batman breaks his arm and hits him on the top of the head with his elbow. Another tried to bite him, but he grabs him by the neck before he can sink his jaws into him, Batman headbutts him and throws him in the direction of another Tarkatanian that was coming. A Tarkatanian approaches with both arms raised and Batman hits him in the chin, sending him flying backward. He blocks two's blades with his gauntlets, which shoot fins in their faces shortly after. Three come at once and he throws his Batarangs at them, knocking each one out. He threw one more and the hapless Tarkatanian tried to bite the Batarang, which exploded in his mouth and caused him to exhale smoke before falling to the ground.
Many came at once and surrounded him. Batman had Tarkatanians around him on all sides. Feeling confident with the numbers, they all charged at the same time. But before one could launch an attack, a smokescreen blinded them.
Some swung their blades all around, slashing a few allies in the process. They all stopped and tried to look around for Batman. One, in particular, heard one of his teammates let out a pained groan as if he had just been knocked out. He turns to where the sound came from but hears another Tarkatanian get knocked out in the opposite direction. More of their allies were knocked out in the middle of the smokescreen, which began to dissipate. That's when he saw all his partners lying on the ground, some with a bruise on their heads, and in the middle of them, Batman stood without a scratch.
The last Tarkatanian roared in fury and readying his blades, he went to confront Batman.
Batman activated his electric gauntlets and headed toward Tarkatanian as well.
The last Tarkatanian seemed to be a little better than his fallen teammates, trading blows with Batman and blocking some attacks as well. Batman had to dodge two attacks from the blades before he sent a punch which the Tarkatanian blocked. Grasping Batman's arm, he tried to bite his enemy in the face. Batman countered by pulling the Tarkatanian as well, who continued to try to bite him. An electric hook to the chin made the Tarkatanian let go of his arm and stagger back.
Crossing his blades, he shot at Batman. He bent down and threw a Batarang at his opponent, the Tarkatanian cut the Batarang by him half and jumped at Batman with its blades pointed at his chest. Batman grabbed the two blades and pulled his body back. Placing his feet on Tarkatanian's belly, he threw his foe into the nearest car.
The Tarkatanian punched the ground and ran toward Batman, not noticing something stuck to his back. The explosion was small, but it was enough to put the Tarkatanian down for good.
Another horde came from behind but Batman didn't even turn around to confront them. They attacked him, but a monster crashing down on them forced them to stop, not that they could get up after that.
With the area cleared, Batman pulls out his grappling hook and heads back to the Batjet. It is still only the first part of the city freed from the invaders and he hoped that his partners would succeed in their assigned regions. For now, he flew to another region of Gotham to check things out.
