Training Room (Day)
"Corviknight, start the battle by using Nasty Plot!" Dominic commanded. The Raven Pokemon closed its eyes for a moment before they shot open, raising its Special Attack stat. "Now use Brave Bird!" Corviknight's body was coated in blue fire as it jetted toward Iida.
However, the boy used the engines in his calves to dash out of the way just in time.
"Iida and Corviknight are pretty evenly matched." Uraraka said, impressed by their speed.
"But Corviknight is quicker to attack, where Iida needs time to get a running start." Todoroki observed. If Iida couldn't execute an attack before having to dodge, then he would lose this battle.
"If we're a hair too slow, we'll just make ourselves even faster! Use Agility!" Dominic said. Corviknight flew upwards and began to fly in a circle, creating a vortex of wind that enveloped the Raven Pokemon in a dust cloud. Then, it stopped abruptly, blowing away the dust as a red glow surrounded its body, indicating the Speed boost. "Now use Giga Impact!" Golden light covered Corviknight's body as it dove to Iida's place on the battlefield.
"Recipro Burst!" the boy called out, using his special move to dodge Corviknight's attack, causing the Pokemon to crash into the ground.
"You can't win through speed alone, Iida." Dominic said as Corviknight pulled itself out of the arena. "You actually need to attack if you want to win."
"I understand." Iida said. Up to his battle with Stain, he's been able to succeed by using his Quirk to outspeed his opponents.
"Corviknight, you did well." Dominic said, petting his Pokemon's feathers. "You can go back to what you were doing." Corviknight flew back to another part of the training room, disappearing from sight. "Uraraka, would you like to go next?"
"Uh, sure!" the girl says, entering the battlefield.
"Given your Quirk, I'll go with this one!" Dominic shouted, throwing a Poke Ball. Everyone was surprised to see a floating rock come out of the device. "You trained with martial arts during your internship, right?"
"Yes, with Gunhead." Uraraka confirmed.
"I'm curious to see how you fare against Minior with that experience." the blonde said, eager.
"Minior?" Midoriya said, confused. It looked kind of like a meteorite, but was it really a living thing?
"Minior is a unique Pokemon born from mutated space dust." Dominic explains, astonishing the others. "The one you see before you fell from space and crashed to Earth."
"So there are even Pokemon that live in space?" Todoroki said, impressed.
"It doesn't matter, I'll still win!" Uraraka said, running toward the Meteor Pokemon. She delivered a series of punches, only for Minior to dodge by floating through the attacks.
"Good work, Minior! Now use Meteor Beam!" Dominic commanded. The white spikes barely visible under its rocky armor started to glow as space energy was gathered into its body.
"Now's my chance!" Uraraka said, rushing to deliver a quick punch to the currently immobile Pokemon. Her fist nearly broke when she threw it at Minior's hard shell. While she recoiled in pain, she failed to notice Meteor Beam was done charging until it was too late. The attack launched her across the battlefield, rendering her unable to keep fighting.
"Sorry about that." Dominic said, recalling Minior. "I probably should've told you that Minior's shell was durable enough to protect it from the impact of crashing into the planet." The blonde got out a Poke Ball and released Comfey. "Please use Floral Healing." Comfey took off its lei and placed it around Uraraka's neck, healing her bruised knuckle.
"Thanks." the girl said. "I guess I'll have to work on my punch, huh?"
"Don't worry, it was pretty strong. If you had managed to throw another one, you might've won." Dominic said.
"I suppose it's my turn, right?" Todoroki asked, approaching the battlefield.
"I take it you've been practicing using steam attacks?" Dominic asked, to which his classmate nodded. "In that case, this Pokemon will be your opponent!" Dominic threw out an Ultra Ball, releasing a sauropod-like Pokemon with blue scales and a long purple mane. "This is Walking Wake, a special Pokemon that utilizes steam to perform attacks."
"Understood." Todoroki said, readying both sides of his Quirk.
"Here we go, then! Walking Wake, use Hydro Steam!" Dominic commanded. The Paradox Pokemon heated the water in its body before launching it at Todoroki, who countered with his own blast of steam. But because of Walking Wake's experience, its attack overpowered Todoroki's attack and struck him with a boiling spout of water. "Follow up with Flamethrower!" Walking Wake began to blow a stream of fire at its opponent, engulfing the boy in an inferno.
"That Pokemon is quite strong." Iida said. "It's overpowering Todoroki with ease."
"I'm beginning to think that beating him in the Sports Festival was impossible." Uraraka said, starting to understand Dominic's skill with his Pokemon.
When the flames dissipated, it was revealed that Todoroki protected himself with a dome of ice. Before it knew what was happening, Walking Wake was attacked by a flurry of ice that launched it into the air. Todoroki then melted the ice and blasted Walking Wake's underside with steam.
"Are you okay?" Dominic asked the Paradox Pokemon, who roared in response. "Great! Now let's finish this with Draco Meteor!" With another loud roar, Walking Wake caused meteors coated in purple fire to rain from the sky, striking Todoroki with the strongest Dragon Type Move. Todoroki fell over in pain, covered in burn marks. "Thanks for the help, Walking Wake. Return."
Comfey once again came to the rescue and healed Todoroki. "That last attack... What was that?" the boy asked as Walking Wake went back into its Poke Ball.
"Draco Meteor is the greatest of all Dragon Type Moves." Dominic explained. "It has the user call forth a storm of meteors to attack the opponent."
"So, it's my turn now, right?" Midoriya asked.
"Yes." Dominic said, getting a Poke Ball ready. "Charizard, come on out!" Throwing a Poke Ball, the blonde released his partner. "We've been training during the internship, so don't expect to beat us so easily."
The battle began with both Midoriya and Charizard lunging at each other. Both combatants attempted to attack with slashes and punches, only for the other to quickly evade.
"Charizard, use Hurricane!" Dominic commanded. During the internship, he enlisted the help of Selkie to teach Charizard a stronger version of Air Slash. The Flame Pokemon beat its wings with furious might, unleashing a cyclone of wind that gouged through the battlefield.
But to Dominic's surprise, Midoriya had attained enough speed to dodge Hurricane at the last second. "15% Texas Smash!" Midoriya called out, punching Charizard's stomach and sending it back to its trainer.
"Looks like you've gotten a lot stronger. I'm glad to see my advice paying off!" Dominic said. Then, with a grin, he reached into his pocket and retrieved his Tera Orb. "Now, Charizard! Dazzle everyone with your polychromatic shine! Terastallize!" Dominic threw his Tera Orb, engulfing Charizard in a cluster of brightly shining crystals. After no more than a second, the crystals shattered and revealed Charizard with a gem-like film covering its body, as well as a jewel on its head with 18 diamond-shaped Type Emblems orbiting it.
