Rogue and her group arrived in the patch to see ruby and yang hopefully to gain their help on stoping team BRAS before anything serious belongs to Rooster Teeth and Monty Oum. I own the OC's, AU. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 8 Orange: Plan of Action
The four had finished unpacking and currently they were trying to kill some time while they waited for dinner. It was in a few hours, but they decided to maybe tell them at dinner about their little idea.
Rogue was in the living room with Zwei as she played with the small corgi. She had a small tennis ball in hand as she rolled it for the dog. He ran after it as he picked it up with his mouth.
Then he ran back to her dropping the ball infront of her. He looked at her as he panted then barked at her.
"Good job little guy"rogue said to the dog as she lightly tossed the ball again. Zwei went after it and they did this while Jaune was their with her along with Ruby.
"So where are Ren and Nora?"ruby questioned as juane was trying to think where they were right now.
Last he saw the two got a ship heading toward Vacou. Along with several other teams they knew. But before they left he talked about meeting up with them in a couple weeks to come to the patch. They agreed to join them and will meet them at the port town close to the patch.
"Umm they went to Vacou with the others on a evac ship if I recall"jaune replied
"Really that great, seems everyone from beacon went their to continue their studies"ruby replied as she kicked one of her legs back and forth.
"Yeah I heard about that the headmaster from Haven Academy actually offered me and Perun to continue our studies a few days ago"Rogue added
This made ruby raise an eyebrow at her fellow weapon nerd"why didn't you go?"ruby asked because she thought she might have wanted to go.
The girl thought for a bit as zwei came back over, he looked at her before jumping up to lay next to her. Rogue looked at the dog smiling a little as she placed her hand on his back stroking him back and forth.
"I didn't go because…I had other plans"rogue replied looked away from ruby.
"What do you mean by other plans?"Ruby questioned as Rogue and Jaune looked at each other.
"Umm i'll tell you later alright during dinner. I'm not ready yet"rogue answered which made ruby a little curious but didn't want to push.
"Ok though you guys wanna take of the patch tomorrow?"ruby asked wondering if they wanted to explore the place
"Sure sounds like fun, never been here"jaune replied
"Yeah and maybe when were in Argus I could show you around. "Rogue added
Ruby smiled a little at the two because she seemed happy to have her friends back. They continued to talk for a bit while outside Yang and mercury along with Tai were busy working outside. Tai was cutting up some fire wood as Yang was working on her bike while mercury helped her.
"Socket wrench"yang asked as mercury handed her the wrench from the tool box next to him.
Yang took it as she fastened the bolts on the bike. She turned it a little to the right making sure they were tight enough. As she turned it Tai decided to strike up some conversation.
"So Mercury was it?"tai asked as he placed another log on the wooden slab infront of him.
"Yeah whats up?"mercury replied
"Screwdriver"yang added as mercury reached over picking it up and handing it too her as tai and him talked.
"Out of curiosity where are you from?"tai asked casually.
Mercury rubbed the back of his neck"I was originally born in mistral. But we moved around alot"mercury replied
"Really interesting, your parents move around for work alot?"tai replied
Though mercury stopped as he stood their for a bit while yang motioned for another tool to be handed to her. As she did she sighed as she looked up at mercury.
"Mercury I need a–"yang began to say but looked at mercury who had a somber look on his looked over as the kid was gripping his fist thinking about his parents.
"Hey merc you good man?"yang asked a little concerned.
Tai walked over as he placed a hand on mercury shoulder and mercury flinched a little. This made tai step back a little looking at him wondering if the kid was okay.
"Kid did your parents abuse you?"tai asked concerned because how mercury flinched as the blonde huntsman narrowed his gaze into a serious one.
Mercury shook his head at this"no…well yeah dad did"mercury replied as the two went wide eyed.
"Wait so your own parent abused you why would he even do that?"yang questioned a little mad.
"Look my dad never meant to hit me on purpose…he was just dealing with mom death"mercury replied
"What do you mean by that?"tai asked as he crossed his arms.
Mercury sat down as he rubbed his shoulder"my dad was an assassin for hire. But he only went after crooks or the scum of remnants. Though one day my mom got really sick some disease or something in her family."mercury began as he sighed.
"Then after that some guys from a job went after me and my dad. He did his best to protect me and trained me to be ready for anything. Though he was still hurt about moms death for the first couple years. Turned to the bottle, then he would hit me sometimes"mercury replied as he shook his head.
Tai walked over placing a hand on mercury shoulder to comfort him and suggesting he could stop.
"You don't need to continue if its bringing up bad memories."yang suggested
Mercury rubbed his eyes"its fine…just that I miss him is all. I knew he never meant all that stuff but…I just wish he didn't die saving my sorry ass"mercury replied as the three sat in silence.
Soon Tai decided to break the silence as he spoke up.
"Look no parent should hit their kid, but he did what any parent should"tai stated confusing the two.
"What do you mean by that dad?"yang asked
He looked at his daughter with a smile"protecting their kid no matter what even it cost you your life. "Tai replied as yang went wide eyed at that. She looked a little worried but smile at him a little.
The silver haired boy rubbed his eyes"umm yeah guess he did…though it still hurts at times"mercury added
"Hey don't worry about it, it's hard to not remember the one we loved that are gone"yang added as she and tai looked a little sadden by saying that. Though the three decided to continue doing their little task as they tried to kill time.
Upstairs in the house Emerald was going through the halls checking the place out. It was really nice because the the varnish on the walls made the place shine a little. As she continued to walk through the house she looked at a few pictures on the walls.
As she walked past a picture frame she stopped and walked back. She looked at the picture on the wall more importantly the one with a younger Ruby and Yang. Along with Tai, Qrow and Summer her mother. But a second women she didn't know.
"Hmm seems like one big happy family"emerald said to herself looking at th family photo
"Yeah, it was really nice back then"a male voice said next to her startling the red eyed girl as she jumped to the side.
She jumped back a little then turned to see Qrow their smiling a little. He was wearing his usually jeans but changed itnoa dark grey t-shirt. It showed off his arms a little as he had his hands in his pockets.
"Don't sneak up on me like that"Emerald said surprised as she nearly jumped out of her skin.
Qrow chuckled"sorry kid even with this metal foot of mine guess i'm still pretty quiet"qrow said as he looked at the pictures on the wall and smiled a peeked emerald interest a little on the topic.
Emerald cupped her chin looking at him."So I have a question for you?"emerald asked
He looked at her raising an eyebrow"Ask away green hair"qrow replied waving his hand at her to continue
"Who this?"Emerald asked, pointing to the women in the she looked like the spitting image of yang but with black hair.
The dusty qrow with a metal leg saw where she was potining and was a little surrpsied.
"That right their is my sister…Raven Branwen or Raven Xiaolong now"qrow answered
"Really huh you know I sort of see the resemblance. Wait wouldn't that make yang her daughter"emerald replied
Qrow hummed"yep Rav and Tai had a little bit of a connection back then at Beacon. "Qrow replied smiling about his days at beacon academy with his Team STRQ.
"Thats nice though is she…Ruby mom?"emerald pointed at the other women in the picture.
Qrow expression soften as he looked down by looking at her.
"Yeah…good old summer….but you probably know she isn't around anymore"qrow replied
Emerald nodded as she crossed her arms under her bust"Ruby did mention it while we fixed the city up. What happened to her?"Emerald asked
Qrow went wide eyed at this as he reached for his necklace around his neck. Then he clenched it as he looked at the picture of all of them together. Emerald looked a little concerned about this because he seemed to be upset by the mention of that.
"We went on a mission a while back in Atlas. Me,Raven and her, Tai stayed to watch the girls. Though at some point we ran into something and then we were losing. After that she just disappeared….been looking for her with sis for years"qrow replied
"Emerald rubbed her arm"sorry about bringing up a painful memory"emerald apolgized it seems.
"Eh your alright kid you didn't know about it. Though lets go downstairs to check on the others alright"qrow suggested as the two did just that.
They headed downstairs to see everyone down their already. Dinner is close to an hour away because right now Tai was making dinner in the kitchen. Alongside him was jaune with an apron on that was pink.
Ruby and the others were at the couch talking about a few things. But it seemed to be about yang and mercury match in the single round.
"I said I was sorry yang"mercury voice was heard.
Yang sighed"Look I know you faked that injury to save Neo. But seriously that was still pretty low"yang replied annoyed it seems.
"Well didn't have much choice those four were with her"mercury said as qrow stopped at the bottom of the stairs wondering who they meant by her.
"Hey kid who are you talking about?"qrow asked in a serious tone as he narrowed his gaze.
Mercury along with the other stopped as they looked at the dusty qrow. He had a serious expression on his face as he studied the group.
"Umm just well some people who threatened my teammate"mercuyr quickly replied
But qrow wasn't buying it"your talking about the people who helped with the attack"qrow said as Mercury and emerald looked at each other. Along with Rogue who seemed a little nervous, jaune heard this as he looked down.
Emerald and qrow joined the group in the living room as they sat in silence for a bit. While qrow sat their studying the group of four assuming they might know about her.
"Look kid are you talking about those four or what"qrow asked again
"Ummm nope…don't know who your talking about"merucyr replied as qrow looked over at emerald. She turned away from him as she avoided his gaze. Then he got to rogue who looked at him.
The two stared at each other for a few seconds as rogue was getting nervous a little.
Rogue began to rub her arm as she groaned"yes he's talking about Team BRAS"rogue answered
"Dang it rogue we were going to wait till later to tell them"emerald replied
"I'm sorry but it felt like he was staring into my soul"Rogue replied quickly.
"Wait why were you going to wait till later to tell us?"ruby questioned a little confused.
Soon Jaune joined them as tai motioned for him to go talk to the others it seems. They all stood their for a bit before jaune decided to speak up.
"Look we didn't just come here for a visit"jaune stated
"What do you mean by that?"Yang asked a little confused, while qrow and ruby listened.
"Umm well we talked about an idea we came up about a week ago"emerald added
"Yeah, pyrrha left a message for me,Rogue and Eria"jaune added
"Wait she left a message like him….seriosuly"yang added annoyed because that message zane sent was really upsetting.
Rogue nodded her head as she looked at a device on her wrist. Then she pressed a button on it as her shield extended. She then clicked a switch as it detached from her wrist and placed it face down on the table.
"She talked about someone who could control grimm. A women by the name of–"rogue begun before ruby finished it.
"Salem"ruby said as qrow looked at his niece with worry.
"How do you know that name?!"qrow exclaimed with fear as everyone looked at him. He shook a little as he girpped his metal prosthetic leg shivering.
"Umm Cinder told me"ruby replied worried as yang looked confused.
"Okay..who salem exactly?"yang questioned.
Qrow hesitated before he spoke about that women because he knew how dnageroue this women was and how far she would go. Qrow took a deep breath to calm himself.
"You ever thought where the grimm come from? Why they act the way they do? How they were created?"qrow questioned as they shook their heads a little confused.
"Salem…is not just someone you just talk about. Just saying that witches name…it sends chills down my spine…shes powerful"Qrow added
"So wait this one woman command countless grimm. That shouldn't be possible she has to be a witch or a god"yang aded
"Like I said shes a witch…maybe even a god"qrow said as it got their attention.
"Imagine your worst nightmare coming alive and taking the form into a woman who would want nothing more than to destory all of humanity on the planet"qrow said. The image in their mind sonly made them shiver from just putting that image in their minds. But emerald and mercury flinched a little.
"That is salem. I hope you two or any of you meet that women. She is the embodiment of nightmares"qrow said as mercury chuckled
"Your not wrong about that old man"mercury said as qrow looked at him.
"What do you mean by that?"yang asked as emerald sat close to mercury shivering a little. Mercury placed a hand on her to comfort her as she seemed scared.
"We…were her servants for awhile along with cinder"mercury simply said
"Wait what?"jaune asked surprised about this along with the others. Rogue was too because he mentioned it before but she was a little concerned.
"Yeah, after we traveled with Amber and Cinder for a while. One day these bandits attacked us,one of them went for cinder but Amber protected her dieing in the process.. After that she came to us with a proposition."mercury replied as he narrowed his gaze.
"That we could get payback for the ones who killed Amber. We found the guys who did it then we killed them….but soon after that we were roped into something far more dangerous"emerald added as she balled up a little.
"Wait what do you mean by that?"rogue asked looking at mercury who turned away from her.
"When we met her….we did horrible things for her and we regret doing it for her. We needed to get away from her but we didn't count on her other minions coming to Beacon"mercury said
"Other minions?"qrow asked as he looked at them.
"Team BRAS, Bonnie Thanotos, Rosemary Kicuhisake, Adder Tannin and Scar Watts"rogue replied as she soon flipped over the shield to show them. The three looked at the other side of shield to see four initials their. The four initials of their fallen friends they lost during the fall.
"Are those?"yang asked and jaune answer
"Tanner, Pyrrha, Zane and Cinder. People we lost that day."jaune answered as he had a sadden expression on his face.
"Wait…this is…pyrrha shield"ruby said looking at rogue who gently nodded.
"She left is for jaune and he gave it too me. But those names are to remind us what were going to ask you to help us with"rogue replied
Yang looked at her a little concerned along with the others"what do you mean by that?"yang questioned.
Jaune gripped his fist tight"Ren and Nora are going to meet us in a day at the port near here. Were going to see why they did it…along with stopping them if their planning to do it again"jaune replied
Qrow looked at the four who looked sadden by this topic as he collapsed his hands together.
"Your here to ask my nieces if they want to help along with any information on their next target"qrow asked as they nodded to him.
"Wait you guys are looking too?"Ruby asked as the group looked at her confused.
"What do you mean by that red?"mercury asked.
Soon Ruby grabbed a nearby scroll as she opened it. Then she pulled up some files on it and showed it too them. Articles about the White Fang being arrested along with the destrcution of the CCT tower cutting all communication nationwide.
"You see ruby here after waking up from her three day coma. Decided to do some digging on her own"qrow stated
"Yeah, after I woke up it took me a bit to recall what happened. But I recalled when we got to the entrance at Beacon Rosemary and Scar met us their. Then….scar showed us a video of Zane corpse with Adder over it"ruby replied as Rogue went wide eyed.
"That slimy little jerk"rouge added as she clneched her fist. He literally mocked her partners death by taking a video of him.
"But I managed to get past them but they said they wanted….me for some reason"ruby added as Qrow tightened his fingers at this.
"Eria and Weiss kept them busy while I got to the top using the stairs, the elevator was destroyed. It took a while but I got up their to see…"ruby paused a moment seeming to remember the scene of pyrrha falling from the tower.
"After that everything happen so fast…next thing a bright light blinded my eyes…then I passed out"ruby finished as Rogue looked at her.
Could what Ember said is true about the silver eyed warriors be true. Ruby could be targeted now for having those eyes of hers.
"Wait, that means you saw who killed pyrrha?"jaune asked as they looked at her.
Ruby seemed to hesitate with her answer as they waited for her. Then she remembered extactly who killed their friend.
"Bonnie Thanotos did it. I saw her up their with her…she killed pyrrha"ruby replied
"Are you kidding me…that entire team…hurt everyone I cared about"rogue stated as she held her head in clenched her fist staring at the initials carved into the shield.
"So the leader of Team BRAS did it. I'm guessing their salems agents"qrow replied as he cupped his chin.
"Yeah and two of them are in the family business. "Emerald added as the three looked at them.
"What do you mean by that we know scar is that Watts guy son. The guy who ran those grimm experiments"yang replied
"Shes talking about rosemary…her father is the one who killed my uncle"rogue added as she gripped her fist.
Ruby went wide eyed at this"wait…what?"ruby replied a little surprised.
"Yeah we did some digging back in Argus for a week. Thats why we came to see if you could help us see why they attacked Beacon."jaune added
"Well from what my niece gathered apparently they seemed to have had help. They were from Haven so they got their hands on fake transcripts"qrow added
"But we also figured out that the white fang may be involved. They might have a another target in mind"qrow added
"Really and what target would that be?"mercury asked
"Think about it their taking CCT towers down. Since the one in Vale is destroyed. It make sense to go to vacou but the terrain their is treacherous and brimming with grimm they wouldn't risk losing their men. Atlas is way out of the question since they don't have air travel. Which means..."qrow paused a moment.
"Mistral"the teens said in unison as he snapped his fingers.
" importantly Haven academy. Though with their forces being dwidneld a little. We won't know when they might attack"qrow said as he cracked his knuckles.
"Hmm so we should probably head to Haven then. Look what were going to ask you two for is something really big."jaune started but rogue continued for him.
"We're asking you to help us put a stop to these people right now. But also doing it for our friends we lost. I know its alot to ask of you two but…they need to pay for what they did"rogue said with malice in her voice.
Qrow shook his head"kid killing them won't bring your friends back."qrow added
Rogue looked away as mercury stepped up"umm we were actually thinking of beating the shot out of them. Who cares if you got a few broken bones"mercury corrected but Qrow studied Rogue who seemed to have a fire that awoke inside of her.
But for now he decided to deal with this later so no arguments break out. Though he looked toward his two nieces wondering what they were planning on doing.
Ruby seemed to be thinking of answer for the four. She seemed to be deep in thought but soon she looked up as her silver eyes gleamed in the light.
"I'm worried about everyone else. I wonder if they're okay almost everyday which makes me worried"ruby stated
"Same here…I'm worried if blake even made it out of Vale"yang added
"You…want to try and find the others?"jaune asked
"Not try. I want to find them. Get our teams back together again. All of us"Ruby said
"Except for three of them."rogue added sadly as she looked toward the mantle. On the mantle was the group picture they all took and she saw several faces that weren't here anymore.
"I know…..that are friends our gone. But we need to find out where they are attacking next. If we can figure that out we can stop them from what they did in Vale to Beacon"ruby said
"Umm they could be attacking one of the other academies"emerald suggested as they looked at her along with mercury.
"Let me guess the witch filled you two on her plans"qrow aksed as emerald nodded before looking over at mercury. The two looked at each other before he gave an approving nod.
"Back when we work for her she mentioned how their are relics hidden within each of the four academies. Beacon, Shade, Havan and Alsius."emerald started
"She wanted us to go after the relics. Our first target was to go after Beacon but we of course didn't go through with it and got out before we got in too deep"emerald said
"Wait wouldn't that mean each academie has a relic in each academy"jaune said as emerald nodded
"Yeah but after beacon she wanted us to head toward haven academy but their is a problem that makes it difficult to obtain them."emrald aded
"That each one of the vault requires one of four maidens that can be unlocked by said maiden"qrow replied which surprised Emerald and Mecury a little.
"Cinder was our fall maiden before Pyrrha accepted the position as the next maiden. But bonnie is the next fall maiden it Pyrrha had guts i'll give her that…but its a shame she had to die"qrow said as jaune sighed at this.
"Wait if she has the fall maiden powers we need to get to Haven academy as soon as possible"mercury stated
Qrow just laughed at this"kid Haven isn't for the fall maiden"qrow said which confused the group.
"What do you mean by that uncle?"yang questioned
Ruby thought for a moment before coming to something"each vault is tailored for a specific maiden"ruby said as qrow snapped his fingers.
"Bingo. And guess what we already got the one for Haven"qrow said which made the group even more curious.
"Wait really thats great, we could grab her then take the relic. Before they even had a chance to take it"rogue added excited a little.
"Not that simple because heres the thing. Right now that maiden is with sis and I told her to protect her no matter what"qrow said
"Yep the tribe agreed to keep the maiden for us, safe from her hands. But we don't know about the other two"tai said as he seemed finished with dinner but let it cool down.
"Extactly, but if were going to do this it'll be a dangerous journey. You'll be traveling pretty far for our you sure you two wanna join them?"Qrow asked looking at Tuby and Yang.
Ruby thought for a moment before she answered"of course I do. If it means stopping what they did to Vale and Beacon. I'll gladly do it"ruby said confidently.
"Same here I gotta watch out for my little sister to make sure nothing happen to her"yang added proudly.
Qrow sighed"alright fine but i'm going with you"qrow said which surprised most of them even Tai.
"Uhh Qrow you sure thats okay?"tai asked
"Yeah. Me and sis have been all over remnant . I know a few shortcuts. Along with that we could avoid any problems that may happen. "Qrow replied
"You have a point their but what about your luck"tia mentioned.
Qrow laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck"don't worry i'm sure it won't be that bad"qrow said as he got up before he slipped on a small ice cube on the ground. Then he face planted onto the wooden floor.
"You were saying"tai said as qrow groaned at him. Then he slowly popped back up as he cracked his back.
"Look i'm sure it will be fine whats the worst that can happen"jaune said as he just signed their death wish for even saying that.
"Okay but if were doing this we need to get supplies for tomorrow. Then come up with a plan with Ren and Nora when we meet them"yang stated
"Your right, along with that check your equipment and train before we leave. Now lets enjoy some dinner"qrow added as they all started to eat dinner. Dinner consisted of some steak and vegetables with potatoes it seems.
They ate their dinner for a while, everyone was quiet at first. But Ruby brought up some of the fun they had at beacon. Which seemed to spark some conversation as they talked about saving the city of vale before. Their expeditions, the vytal dance and all the adventures they went on while they were their.
It seemed to bolster their moral a little after their little discussion they had. But soon enough they all were done eating and decided to head to bed early that night. Hours past as some people where awake as they thought about things.
In yang room she was looking out her open window at the night sky. She looked at the broken moon of remnant as she looked at something in her hands. It was a small black ribbion from a certain cat faunus.
"Where ever you are kitty…I hope your safe. "Yang said to herself as she prayed that Blake was out their somewhere. With her family because once their journey starts and when they get that relic. Her next stop is menagerie to see if that cat faunus is okay.
Though she also wondered how shes dealing her loss of limb right now. She just hopes it hasn't made her depressed.
But next time she see Adam Tarrus, she'll personally make him her punching enough she decided to head to bed for the night. She closed her windows as she walked over getting under the sheets then slowly drifted to sleep.
In the guest room with Rogue and Emerald one of them was awake. Passed out in one of the two beds provided was emerald was sound asleep. While Rogue was up late looking at the shield in hand.
She rested her hand on it contemplating their journey ahead. That it may be a couple more days before they start. They just got here in the patch happy to see their friends again. But also wanted to ask them for their help.
Which she was happy they agreed to help them track down Team BRAS and their queen along with stopping them. But she couldn't help but feel hurt still about all the people she lost that day. The fall took four people she knew and years ago took a family member away on the same day.
She'll make sure that entire team pays for what they did. The blonde tinker sat on her bed thinking about their next course of action. While she was awake a certain glove gem gleaned as it watched it seems.
It seems ruby and the group know their next destination in their journey that being mistral. Which means they'll need to prepare themsleves for the long journey ahead of them before they embark on it. Thanks for reading!
