Chapter 15 Orange:Kuroyuri restored part 2

The group continued to walk along the path with the jeep close by next to them as it took them a few hours to finally get to the village entrance as they walked into the town. Several people could be seen throughout the town weather that be rebuilding several building being repaired with wood presumably from the tree that were chopped down around the place.

Everyone looked in awe at the place while ren and nora were just surprised their home was being restored again. They couldn't believe their eyes seeing their home actually still standing right now before their very eyes.

"Welcome to kuroyuri everyone"koa said gestuirng as he went in a circle presenting the village.

"This is just…I can't even describe it"jaune stated

"Yeah seriously this is where you two lived?"rogue asked which peak koa interest

"Kid no one lived here for almost nine year""koa replied

"Ummm actually koa these two are survivors when the town was still in its glory"qrow corrected as koa went wide eyed.

"Seriosuly…well you two must be happy to see it being restored"he asked looking at the town.

But ren was still looking around shocked still as he looked in the center of the town an old cherry blossom tree stood their as petals slowly fell to the ground. As they did ren could see a small group of kids smiling and playing with each other.

Nora just rang her hands togehter"umm yeah it impressive"She replied nervously it seems as the others took notice of it. But didn't want to cause a scene.

The tribe members with koa decided to take qrow jeep to their garage to store it. Along with that he warned them if they scratch it he'll personally come up with a punishment for them. Which they understood and carefully moved the jeep.

Koa scretched his arms looking back at the group"anywho want aquick tour of the place before we meet Viri"koa asked

"Sure we got time to check this place out"mercury replied

"Yeah this place is really nice actually"ruby added

"Alright then show us your progress on our work kid"qrow said as they began to follow koa as he showed them around the town.

Koa pointed out several things that were still in the works but he did mention that were here already built and sued to house the people that were in the town before. This kinda made ren and nora upset a little but they didn't show it. As they continued to walk rogue noticed the people were still hard at work with the branwhen tribe member trying to rebuild the town little by little still. It seems their progress was really good since their were some businesses here it seems. But their were also several gardens in the area that were being tended to by others as they were gathering plants that grew here.

They walked toward one of the other buildings that looked like it was the previous leader home. It was a three story building with several windows and a miniature roof on each level it seems. Along with a wooden deck and staircase that lead to the front door.

On the front deck qrow and koa noticed a parctuclar women standing out their with another man. The women was wearing viridian colored jacket but the sleeves were torn off it with some fur ontop of it. She was wearing a navy blue lon sleeve shirt underneath it. She also had on some dark gray pants with viridian colored shoes.

She seemed to be in her mid thirties and her hair was light brown but styled into a pony tail braid that draped over to the right side. She had lights tan skin with a slender frame to her. Along witht that she had light yellow eyes and had a small scar on her left seemed to stand at 5.8 feet tall.

While the man next to her was a man in his mid fifties and he was rather short because he was close to rubys height it seems. Along with that his hair was dark brown with some grey hairs showing it seems. He had dark green eyes and he wore a zhiduo that was greenish blue it seems in color. Along with that he carried a cane in his right hand that was made of wood and he wore sandals on his feet with socks.

"Qing I know your worried about your people but relax we'll deal with those cultist"the women reassured to the man known as qing.

Qing huffed"Miss I know that your doing your best. But they been attacking the town for the last week"he stated

The women sighed as she looked over to see koa and the group.

"Qrow what are you doing here?"the women asked as qing looked over with intrigued at the group.

"I came back to check on your progress on the town…"he begun before he gestured to the group with him.

"But also these kitties decided to follow me we need to resupply before we head for haven"he replied

"Ummm also what about dealing with those freaky cultist?"koa reminded

"Yes, those pest"qing stated as he examined the group of youngesters in front of him but Ren and Rogue seemed to peek his interest as he narrowed his gaze looking at them.

"Were lucky you came sir but surprised you brought a bunch of kids with you"the women said

"Hey were not kids were huntsman and huntress in training"Ruby corrected as the women laughed.

"Alright rookies…names viri mikhal and this grumpy old guy is Qing wan"she introduced herself.

"Well my name is ruby to meet you ma'am. This is rogue hayley, jaune arc, mercury black, nora valkriye and lie ren"ruby replied introducing herself and the other with him. Qing went wide eyed at hearing ren name.

"Hmm you wouldn't happen to be li Ren son?"qing asked as ren looked at him with surprise.

"You…you knew my father?"ren questioned as he stepped forward

Qing smiled"yes Li was a student of mine back in the day when I was a hunter"he answered

Ren just was surrpsied by this because his father did talk about having a teacher back in the day but really didn't talk about it much. Though qrow cleared his throat.

"Sorry to interrupt but you two can talk later alright. More about these cultist"qrow said as ren nodded understanding.

Viri sighed"well if koa told you already for the past week we've been trying to supply the town but to no avail. They keep attacking the people we send into town, dealing with them make us have to cosntantly rebuild the town. We don't even know why their here"viri said

"That weird are they looking for something?"jaune questioned;

"Beat me seriously their all creepy as heck saying the speaker demand you to surrender your town or some shit"viri replied

"Can't you track them down or something to find where their base is?"ruby replied

"Its not that simple miss…it like they know how to avoid being seen whenever we send a patrol out after them."qing said with a sigh

"Because their a group fo assassin"mercury answered with viri and qing looking at him.

"How do you know that?"viri questioned.

Mercury glared clenching his fist"because my dad and I were on the run from them for years. Their based in vacou and they worship someone known as all seeing one if I recall"he replied

"Hmm that is troubling but why are they here?"qing aksed

"C'mon old man relax we'll find out why their here"a women voice came from the front entrance to the house.

They looked to see a girl who was around sixteen it seems with jet black long hair and deep blue eyes. Her build is slender and her skin was wore a tan sweater with shoudler armor strapped to her right arm. A bandolier was across her ches that was dark brown in color along with a pair of light brown combat pants with multiple pockets on them along with hiking boots. Thought on her right and left hand are a pair of archer gloves colroed dark black. But ontop of her head was a pair yellow cheetah ears on her her back was a black compound bow with a quiver.

"Zuri their you are you. How'd your hunt go early?"qing asked

"Bag a few doe with some of the others along with a few hares"she replied

Zuri looked at the new group fo people here surpsied seeing some new faces here.

"Oh who are you all?"she asked

"Just some people visiting to checking on my guys progress. Though since we may be here a while got a place for us to stay at?"qrow replied

Viri nodded at this" could you show them to the place they'll be staying at. Qrow could me and koa have a word with you"viri said as qrow nodded following them off to somewhere else. While zuri lead the others inside with qing following them.

"We normally don't get visitors here but apparently this house was built to house alot of people here. We fixed it up to how it originally looked"zuri said as they went fown a hall which had plenty ofdoors down the hallway. While Ren just frowned looking at the old house.

Jaune noticed this"hey ren you alright?"jaune questioned

"Yeah why are upset?"ruby asked worried.

"Because…this…was my old house"he simpy replied as everyone went wide eyed.

"I thought your dad was a hunter and on the council or something?"jaune replied

"He was…along with being the village chief at the time"ren replied.

Qing closed his eyes as he walked over to the boy as his cane claked on the ground.

"Young man, I heard of li death many years ago. Though i'm surrpsied to see his liange still live on. If you like later we can talk about him"qing said as ren gently nodded.

"Beside that the frist door here will shortie here"zuri said gesturing to ruby who frowned at that looking at her annoyed.

"I'm not that short"ruby stated as rogue giggled.

"You kinda are"rogue said as ruby stuck her tongue out at rogue and she returned it.

"Alright despite that across from her will be blonde boy, then next to metal legs, across from him the other blonde. Then it'll be yoo two across from each other"Zuri said

"Umm could I have the room that jaune is staying in"ren asked

"Sure i'm guessing you used to live in their"jaune said as ren nodded

"Okay though if your here to help us with those stupid cultist we can finish rebuilding in the next few months maybe"zuri said

"Yeah though you may need to discuss with viri on more of this plan"qing mentioned

"Alright though you guys got a bathhouse or something.I kinda wanna clean up"rogue replied

"Of enar the entrance of the town. It won't be hard to miss."Zuri said

Rogue nodded as she entered her room as she set everything down before leaving them humming.

"Well…she seems in a chipper mood"mercury pointed out.

"Why wouldn't she be something happen to her?"zuri asked

"Umm well we were in vale when the fall happen. She lost…three very close friends that day."ruby answered which mader zuri and qing a little worried about that.

"Interesting how has she been sleeping?"qing asked as nora and ren went to their rooms to drop their stuff off.

"Pretty good I think…why?"jaune replied

"Actually early she was having a nightmare last night I think"ruby corrected

Qing hummed"well it seems your friend may be suffering from something I could see something in those eyes of her. But you should go check with that viri girl and qrow to see what you can do to help us with these cutlist"qing said as he left them so they could set their things down while zuri waited for them.

After they dropped their stuff off they decided to leave their guest rooms and look for qrow and his tribemembers.

As they did on a ridgeline close to the town was a women in a purple claded cloak looking down on the village. She narrowed her gaze under her cloak scoffing.

"These pest seemed to have brought their leader here it seems"she stated

A man was next to her as he kneeled before her"speaker Flora what would you like me to do"he asked

The man was wearing a pair of black combat pants with a purple atheltic shirt that had tribal marking on it with several white eyes painted on it. Along with a chest armor piece that went over his entire chest and back. It had an open eye on the front of it painted in wore some greaves on his leg along with armor on his forearms. Along with a purple sack over his head with the same symbol on his chest armor. On hiships were a pair of katar blades color turquoise on the blades while the handles were dark grey

"For now Turk…we wait to see if some of them leave the village"she replied as the man nodded

"Yes speaker flora, but what of our queen will"he replied

"The all seeing one says that she has someone looking for someone. And it seems that someone is here"flora replied

"Yes ma'am i'll keep an eye on the village then"turk replied as flora walked off toward the woods plotting what to do next.

Meanwhile with the group they were exploring a bit while looking for qrow. But qing and zuri where with them as they looked over to see qrow with koa and viri under a small tent with other people it seems.

Qrow was looking at a map that had several areas marked on it with possible locations of these unseen eyes.

"So your saying that they just disappear even our scouts can't find them?"qrow aseked as viri nodded

"Yeah along with that something troubling happen about a three days ago"viri stated which made qrow raise an eyebrow.

"How bad we talking?"qrow asked as he placed his hands on the table.

Koa sighed rubbing his head"ummm vernal along with some of the people loyal under her….they started a coup against you and raven"he said as qrow went wide eyed but the group got over here just to hear that.

"What are you talking about?"mercury asked as they turned to see them here.

"Yeah and who is this vernal?"jaune added

Qrow clenched his fist"someone whos been trying to push back to the old ways we ran things. Shes been trying to fight for the title of leader of the tribe."he replied

Ruby looked a little worried about this"wait you mean when auntie and you were bandits"she said as he nodded to viri surprise a little.

"But what does she have to do with whats going on here?"nora asked

"Her along with most of our men left the village. She was incharge of that outpost on the other path where the crossroads led to about a couple day ago"koa said

"Oh no yang!"ruby shouted with worry as qrow shared it

"Wait raven daughter she came with you?"viri questioned.

"Yeah we sent them to go check on sis and the main camp"Qrow replied

"Ummm bad news man we moved about five days ago"koa said as qrow just sighed heavily.

"Any more bad news?"qrow sarcastically asked as soon enough several citizen were rushing over with concern it seems.

"Chief Qing we have a problem"a women said as qing looked at them.

"Yes what is it?"he asked

"Some of the kids went into the woods to play early along with getting herbs. We thought they'd be back by now since we sent someone with them but they haven't came back yet"she replied

"This is troublesome."qing said as he looked toward the group of teens.

"I'm going to ask you all for something to help with right now"qing stated

"Don't worry we'll gladly look for them"jaune replied proudly with a smile.

Viri stretched a little"yeah but could some of you help us with restoring some of town. Along with that some of the villager here aren't that spry as they were. With some of our guys in the infirmary as well since the attacks keep happening"viri said

Jaune nodded instantly"i'll go look for the kids if you want. I'm pretty good at tracking"jaune said proudly.

Ruby snorted a little"when did you get good at tracking?"ruby asked

"Let me guess your little camping trips with your family gave you excellent tracking skill…and braiding hair?"merucyr teased with a couple laughs being heard.

Jaune crossed his arms"actually yeah my dad taught me a thing a two alright"he retorted

"Okay but since its getting dark you'll need someone who can see in the dark. Along with that I know the area around here pretty well"zuri added

"I could as well come with I know the area as well as h–"ren begun but surprisingly jaune stopped him.

"No I got this ren why don't you and nora enjoy yourselves for a bit. Maybe catch up with qing about your dad"jaune suggested as ren looked at him then turned away.

"Ummm jaune are you sure thats a good idea?"nora asked

"Yeah. look I know you two are probably scared of this place. But you have to be really happy its back"jaune replied

Ren nodded a little"I am, but I also worry if it is still here"ren replied

Ruby looked at ren wondering what he meant by it, could it be that grimm"are you talking about that grimm?"ruby asked

Viri rubbed her chin"You know I think I know what your talking about here we can discuss this with qing later at the house. "Viri said as ren and qing followed her back to the house. Along with jaune and zuri following close behind.

"Alright the rest of you can held out with some task we have around here"koa stated

"Ummm could I actually go check on rogue please"ruby asked as qrow closed his eyes nodding.

"You don't gotta ask kiddio go check on your friend alright"qrow said as ruby rushed off toward the bathhosue area. While nora and mercury decided to help out with the rebuilding the village. But nora seemed nervous about this whole thing it seems.

Back inside Jaune was gathering some gears as he sheathed crescent mora in his side and had a small medkit at the ready incase some of those kids were hurt. While zuri waited for him in the doorway.

"Come on hurry up man we gotta get going before those kids get hurt"zuri stated with haste.

"I know but we gotta be prepared for anything. We don't know if one of them is hurt right now and we may need medical suppiles"he replied

"Hmm your not wrong about that…though are you really a huntsman in training?"she asked

"Uhh yeah why is that a problem?"jaune replied

Zuri shook her head"nope just surprised to see a cute guy like you be one you look gentle"zuri replied as jaune just sighed at that comment which made zuri raise an eyebrow.

"What can a girl not compliment som–"She begun but jaune stopped her.

"No its just…I lost someone recently that i loved very dearly. Look i'm not looking for a relationship here…i'm here for my friends I lost. So please don't do that again…okay"jaune softly said as zuri put her hands up.

"Okay i'm sorry I didn't know"she apolgized as jaune grabbed his pack as the two heading downstairs toward where ren and the others were.

"You didn't knows your alright"jaune replied as they walked down the hall for a bit to arrive in a small living room with a small table in the room and mats on the ground to sit on. On the table was some tea that was piping hot while ren sat their talking with qing and viri.

"So is that thing…still here?"ren asked with worrie it seems.

Qing set his cup down nodding"yes, the knuckleeve is still living in the mountains close to here. But since the cultist have been attacking it worries me that it may come here soon"qing said

"Yeah that why we've been trying to stop them if that thing comes here were screwed"viri said

Ren clenched his fist tight in anger as he recalled what that thing did to his family many years ago.

Nine years ago kuroyuri.

In the same household just like this ren was fast asleep in his bed right now. As he slept soundly soon enough someone was shaking him awake. He slowly stirred awake as he could hear screaming and shouting from the outside.

Once he opened them he saw a female in front of him with dusky rose hair held in a bun by a gray band and pink eyes. She wore a long green dress with dark green around the has a long flared sleeve that have cut out on the shoulders with a large band of plum purple on the cuffs. She wears a pair of black ballet flats and a pink sahs around her eyes were pink in color.

"Mother what going on?"ren asked but he was immediately scooped up into her arms.

"We need go sweeite now"she said as she rushed toward the door of the house to see his father with a bow in his hands.

"Li I got ren."the women said

Li nodded"alrigth An your to leave the town that beast is something we can't handle we need a huntsman"li said as he quickly opened the door as the family quickly sprinted through the town. But ren could see people running around in a panic right now with roars being hear around him.

Flames sparkled the air around them as they kept running through the village while ren father had his bow drawed and at the ready.

"Mother…are we going to be ok?"ren questioned as he felt his mother rub the back of his head

"Yes don't worry everything will be okay"she reassured him as they kept running.

Though as they ran ren noticed a orange hair girl he saw a few days ago cowering huddled up near a building.

"Mother what about her?"ren asked as she looked over to see a orange haired girl cowering. She soften her gaze looking at her husband who noticed this as he nodded.

"Go grab her and hurrie back"li ordered as she set ren down on the ground. Then she quickly rushed over to where the girl was. As she did the orange haired girl flinched as ren saw his mother rest a hand on her head. He coudln't understand what they were saying but soon enough she came rushing over with the girl in tow.

"Alright I got her now.."she begun but not before looking to her right as she shoved the orange haired girl down infront of her.

Ren then saw his mother get thrown into a building as she landed hard against it. Then she fell to the ground her body slumped over as her head was turned away from them.

"Mother!"ren called out but Li quickly grabbed his son as he looked at the young girl backing up in fear right now. Ren couldn't see what was their except for someone who seemed to be riding the horse but it looked terrifying.

Li looked at his son and the girl as villager ran around in a panic. Along with black specks of ahs flaoting around as rumbling could be with a grimm roar.

Li quickly rushed over pulling the orange haired girl by a hand as she dragged her over to where his son was. Then he knelt down as he pulled a knife from his sheathe.

"Listen to me son, you need to be brave right now. Do you understand?"li instructed holding the knife in hand.

"no..please…I can't…please"ren said as he shook his head with tears welling up in his eyes.

Li smiled"yes you can!"he said as he placed a hand on his son shoulder. Then he places the knife in his looked at the knife in his hand.

"You and.."li waited for the girl to say her name.

"Nora"she introduced herself as li nodded.

"You need to be brave. Take action you two need to get to safety."li said as he got up as he drew his bow notching it back.

Li looked down at his son smiling"your mother and I love you very much"Li said

Ren gripped the knife tigher as he tried to fight the tears from his eyes"father…please don't"ren said as soon another grimm roar could be heard and loud horse like footsteps could be heard.

"GO!"Li said as he pulled his bow back as he fired an arrow into the grimm head as it screeched in pain.

Ren hesitated for a bit before he took off running toward the woods dragging nora along with him. All he could hear are screams behind him along with a nevermore cry could be heard above them. They both go wide eyed before ren saw a hollow out log. He dragged nora over their as the two sat in the log.

The nevermore cries could be heard as ren slightly wept to himself while nora sat next to him scared for her life. The nevermore cries could be heard from above still but as ren continued to sob. Something happened as he began tos hummer a little as his appearancece grayed out.

He felt a little calm right now as he let out a calm breath as color returns. He looked toward nora who was crying.

Ren then tapped her shoulder as she gasped a little but relized it was him.

"We have to be brave"ren said calmly as more nevermore cries could be heard.

Nora whimpered as she threw herself around ren. His eyes and arm go wide but he accepts it as he wrapped his arms around her. The shimmer then appeared again as they both lose color in their appearance.

The nevermore landed close to them as it cawed again. But as it did the two sat their in silence waiting for the grimm to leave the be. While they did soon enough it did but not before a set of of heavy footsteps could be heard on the dirt path infront of them.

"I'm…scared"nora said

"I know..me too"he said as he noticed a branch in the log that resemble a hammer. He grabbed it handing it too her.

"We'll keep each other safe"ren reassured as she looked down at it. Then she takes it from him as she stared at her.

"What…your name?"nora asked

"Lie Ren"he introduce himself as she smiled blinking and nodding for a bit.

Present

Ren sat their taking a deep breath before looking up to see jaune and zuri about to leave to look for the kids.

"Oh hey guys were about to head out. Were gonna try and get back here before it gets too dark"zuri stated

Qing nodded"Arlight then but be careful of grimm out their okay"he warned.

Ren looked down before he got up as he walked toward the two"i'll come with"he opted to join.

"Ren its fine just relax I got this–"jaune started but ren stopped him.

"No i' sorry jaune but if their are indeed grimm here. My semblance is useful for getting the kids back here safe"ren said as jaune went wide eyed while zuri cupped her chin.

"What can you cloak yourself against grimm?"she asked

"Actually he can sort of like masking your emotions"jaune asnwered

Viri chuckled"impressive though be careful with those cultist around its dangerous. Watch each other backs out their"Viri warned as the three nodded as they gathered some things and began to walk out of the room toward the destination of where the kids where last seen.

This chapter we got to learn more about ren and his family along with meeting his fathers master. Their was also how they explained to the group their current situation and how they can help. Zuri, Qing, Viri, Turk and flora are my own OC's, thanks for reading!
