In the previous chapter we heard that a great evil will be returning to kuroyuri which worries ren alot right now on that possible evil returning to his restored home. Chapter 17:Confrontation

Jaune and the others were making their way back with the kids and tribe member in tow. Jaune opted to carry the tribe meber on his back as the three kids flanked around ren. They didn't travel fr from them but they seemed to be hanging around him the most it seems. Though he also wondered about if what he said about that grimm could be true.

Could they have a knight here that can control the girmm which would be big problems for them soon. Before they leave maybe they should deal with these cultist and grimm so that his teammates home is safe.

As they got back to kuroyrui which didn't take them that long. The adult and some of the tribemembers with koa saw them walked into town. They all immediatly rushed over as a couple of parent went to their parents.

"Oh thank goodness your alright"a women said

"Yes thank you for bringing our kids back"an older man added

"It was no problem"ren simply said

"Yeah good job you three, what happened to you?"koa asked the tribemember.

"Stabed in the shoulder. She lost some blood thought and needs to get patched up before she loses anymore blood"jaune replied as koa nodded motioing for some of his men to take her toward the nearby town clinic.

"Yeah but why were you gathering herbs so far out of town?"zuri asked the kids.

"We wanted to thank the people here for helping our town"the boy said

"Yeah alot of them got hurt from protecting us from those scary people"the girl added

Ren walked over kneeling infront of them"you three were very brave for doing that but stay close by next time its dangerous out here at night"he said as the three kids nodded to him as they waved goodbye walking home with their parents.

"If they stayed out any longer the grimm would have gotten them"koa stated

"Yeah well we need to find the others. Where are they?"jaune siad looking at koa who cupped his chin thinking for a moment. Then he gestured for him to follow him as he lead the three toward where qrow and viri were early.

They were walking over ti where some workers and tribe warriors were working on a building of a roof. While qrow stood far away from them because he rather not have a nail or hammer fall on his head because of his bad luck.

They were nailing in shingles putting them into place and nailed them down with a hammer. While others used a pully system to bring the suppiles to them. Helping them was nora as she pulled the rope back and up for a bit until it reached the top.

"Thanks kid!"the villager called out as nora waved to him.

Viri was close by monitoring the progress as she looked behind seeing the others return"Your friends are back, lets go check on them"viri said

"Its alright they need help I can–"nora begun before someone stopped her.

"We got this kid you did good go take a break"a tribemeber siad

Nora nodded before her and viri walked over toward where the others were. As she did she looked at ren who had a perturbed look on his face.

Qrow turned to see jaune and his group back"hey kid how'd it go searching for those missing kid?"qrow asked as nora and viri joined them.

"Yeah, anything happen to the person that went with them"viri added with worrie.

"No she alright but she received a nasty shoulder wound"zuri answered as viri sighed.

"Great the clinic will be full then"viri stated

"Is something wrong with the clinic or something are their that many people hurt?"jaune asked

Koa nodded"yeah since those cultist keep attacking our warriors are doing their best to defend the town. But since vernal left her outpost and gathered a few of the others in the area. Were running low of men"he said

"Yeah but the kids are okay but we ran into someone calling himself turk"jaune said

"Hmm that the stupid speaker of their little cult bodyguard…how close were they?"viri asked

"About twenty minutes from here"ren answered as he glanced toward nora with a worried look.

Qrow picked up on this"kid something else happen while you were out their or something?"Qrow asked kwowingly.

Ren just clenched his fist in anger as he looked troubled and anger at something. Jaune could tell it might be that grimm that took his village many years ago and his parents.

"He talked about how a great evil will come to the village from a long time ago"ren said with hate in his voice as nora went wide eyed.

The orange haired girl just wrapped her arms around herself shivering"you mean…that..that thing…no..no…we gotta evacuate the town"nora said with haste

"Are you talking about that knuckleeve thats near the mountains. We've managed to avoid it luckily trying to keep everyone calm here. "Zuri said

"How the heck did you do that?"jaune questioned.

"Apprently the villager play a small tune to help keep everyone at calm every day. It works but that thing might become a problem since those cultist keep attacking."viri ansered

"And we can't just move an entire village of people in a day. The terrain to get to somewhere else is dangerous. With most of them being hurt as well…we need to strategize"qrow said

Viri nodded in agreement"agreed the town does lack some defense but we could set some small areas up incase the cultist do attack with that why don't you kids could check on your friends. "She stated

"Yeah we should might as well see what their up to"jaune added as him nora, ren, zuri and qrow walked off letting the two continue their business to find the others and check up on some of them.

The moment they left koa sighed heavily"viri if what that kid said is true…that grimm is coming. We should start preparing the villagers incase it does attack"koa suggested as she nodded.

"We'll discuss it later with him and qrow along with the others."viri added as they walked off to look for the village chief.

Rouge was helping fix up the jeep to make sure it was in great condition. She wanted to make sure they didn't run into anymore snags when they left kuroyrui. As she did this mercury was with her trying to find the best way to talk to her.

"So how our ride looking?"mercury asked rogue who was checking the engine.

Rogue looked at the dust engine on it as it looked to be intact along with the engine luckily not being blasted from koa accidntly ambushing them.

"Engine good seems that it didn't get hit when they accidently ambushed us"rogue said as she placed the hood down closing it. Then she walked voer grabbing a rag wiping her hands down.

"That great so what should we help out with next?"merucry asked as they began to wak around for a bit. But as they did an old chief called out to them.

"We'll if you want to help we've had some troubles with our water supply"Qing said walking over with his cane in hand.

"Really what happened is it blocked or something?"rogue asked

"Yes the town sued to have an underground pipe system that filter out the water that was used here and send it back to the pond upstream. It could be a functioing water styme once done though for now the ponds water had been blocked off so we couldn't use it."qing replied

"That just though were is it maybe we can fix it"mercury offered

"Its just upstream to the west of her. An old trial leads directly to it"he replied

"Shouldn't be hard to fix. We can head over their to get right on it"rogue replied

"That be great. If we get that water into town the better. We don't know why but it was blocked off about a week ago."qing added

"Let me guess those cultist"mercury said as qing nodded.

Though before the two were about to head over their they spotted the others comign toward them.

"Hey guys your back. How'd it go?"rogue asked

"Fine the kids are safe none of them are hurt. But a tribe warrior got hurt she in the clinic now"zuri replied

"Thank goodness she protected them. Though anything else you see out their?"qing knowingly said

"We ran into a man named turk with some of his men were with him. "Ren replied

"Hmm him he's their speaker bodyguard if I recall"qing replied

Mercury sighed rubbing his eyes"at least it aint their creepy leader who the all knowing one or whatever"mercury said

"You seem to know alot about them kid care to tell us how they operate?"qrow questioned.

"They mainly use the shadows to strike their targets along with that. If their a speaker their might be at most sixteen of them"mercury said

"We've been having trouble with sixteen freaking guys against a village with more than fifty people"zuri asked annoyed

"Their smart despite being a bunch of nutjobs"mercury replied

"Hmm well maybe we should search for their base or something"rogue suggested.

"Yeah we could, butthey also said something that might be happening soon"jaune added which made qing seemed worried.

"What do you mean by that young man?"qing asked

Nora hugged ren arm tightly as she looked scared not even wanting to talk about that grimm. Ren just clenched his fist tight as he exhaled keeping his composer.

"They said a great evil is coming here from the past to ruin the village again and it will be soon"ren said

"Your talking about the knuckleeve aren;t you?"qing asked as ren nodded in anger.

Qing sighed as he walked over to the young man and glanced at rogue. The girl didn't really seem bother by him being anger about this grimm it seems. The old hunter looks at both of their eyes and they are filled with hatred, malice, disgust and seem to want revenge.

"Hmm zuri could you and mercury here go clear the block on our pond"qing asked

"Sure thing but what should we do about this possible attack"zuri said

"Oh I could use my semblance to create defense where some gaps are in the village"rogue stated

Qrow nodded"good thinking i'm gonna find ruby so we could let her know what were doing. Who know my niece may have some insight on this thing."qrow said as he went off to find ruby.

"I'll come too, might as well check up on her"jaune added as he went with qrow.

Mercury and zuri headed off toward the pond as rogue wanted to go with him. But making defense for the town was also important. Before she could even walk off to find viri and koa. She was stopped by qing.

"Young lady could you along with those two kindly come with me"qing said as rogue was a little surprised by with ren and nora who looked at each other.

"Ummm okay I guess"rogue said as she went off following qing with ren and nora back to the hosue to discuss something it seems.

Meanwhile in a small camp like area with several tents and wooden spike walls was tyrian. He walked through the place as it was hidden by the folliage of the forest. The scorpian faunus looked around seeing about six tents that seem to fit three people in each them. Along with one large tent that has a pair of tocuhes on each side. But a flag was in the middle of the camp that had the unseen eyes symbol.

"Hmm impressive your followers for our queen are still devoted to our cause?"tyrian asked as his tail whipped around.

"Yes brother tyrian but we've had trouble dealing with that town. Those vermin are protecting the town with theirs lives it seems. We've tried to lure the knuckleleeve over to the town but to no avail"flora replied

Then from the side turk walked over as he bowed toward tyrian as he held it.

"Brother callows its a pleasure to see you here"turk greeted

"Same here Turk though…i've heard you been having trouble dealing with the town..our queen wouldn't be happy"he said

Turk then kneeled on the ground"if you wish to deliver a punsihment befitting for her I shall take it"he said offering the scorpian faunus to kill him. Tyrian chuckled as he raised his stinger but he looked at flora who held a hand up.

"Come now flora…he offering himself for punishment for failing our queen…let me him scream"tyrian said

"Another time brother callows I know you love your bloodlust. But Turk is my guard and I may need him if those vermin attack. "Flora said motioing toward her blind eyes.

"Very well then but…did you see anyone with silver eyes?"tyrian asked as the two cultist along with several other stopped dead in their tracks.

"One of them is here i'm guessing our queen wants you to capture her"flora said

"Yes she'll be very pleased if I bring her because she has something specially planned for her. For now tommorrow were going to attack that village with full force"tyrian ordered.

"I assume you have a plan for tommorrow then"flora asked

Tyrian licked his lips widely as he grinned"cause mass panic and lure the grimm down below while I take that silver eyed brat"tyrian said as they all began to prepare for tommorrows attack on that patehtic little town.

Meanwhile jaune and qrow were looking around for ruby and to their luck they didn't have to look far the young huntresses was helping gahter some vegetables from the large garden that was made. Incluidng that ruby their was maybe five of them working in the garden to gather what plants were fresh. The two decided to head over to speak with her.

"Hey kiddio can we talk a moment"qrow replied

"Oh sure is something the matter?"ruby questioned.

"No..lets go to where everyone can't hear us"jaune muttered. Ruby got the message it seems as she nodded before seeting her basket down a moment.

"Taking a bit of a break. Sorry be right back"ruby said to the others that were their as they gave her a wave so that her and the two could talk a moment.

They went behind one of the houses that was finished so they weren't interupted.

"Okay whats going on?"ruby questioned

"We've got word about an attack happening soon and it might be tommorrow"jaune replied

"Oh no we should set up defense or maybe evacuate them. Wait no alot of them are hurt that won't work"ruby said as she cupped her chin deep in thought.

Qrow chuckled"just like your mom coming up with a plan kiddio"he said ruffling her head as she swatted at his hands to stop.

"Ughh stop though how did finding the kids go?"ruby asked looking at jaune.

"It went okay we got the kids and the tribe member. The tribe member got hurt but the kids weren't we ran into a small group of those cultist"jaune answered

"That great…but um…how…rouge?"ruby nerovusly aksed messing with her cloak.

"I don't know kiddio, why something happen?"qrow asked worried it seems.

Ruby stood their for a moment crossing her arms under her bust sighing"umm in the bathhouse early when I got their. I saw her crying and screaming it to stop. I'm worried she might do something she'll regret when she finds team BRAS"ruby said with worry in her throat.

Qrow nodded as he looked at jaune"same to you kid you two better not be trying to get yourselves killed for payback against that team"qrow warned

"Don't worrie I just want to stop them but…I can agree that rogue isn't fine. Should we talk to her about tonight?"jaune suggested

"Maybe but we also need to be prepared for what those cultist might do next. "Qrow replied

"Yeah we'll think of something"Ruby said as the three separated as ruby had to come up with an idea on how to defend the village and help her friend.

Meanwhile zuri and mercury were walking the trial toward the pond in the dense forest where the sunlgiht hardly shown. Plus they've been walking the trail for about thirty minutes now with no pond in sight.

"Are you sure this is the right way?"mercury asked zuri.

"Hey its just further inward relax"zuri replied as she pointed out a small light just ahead of them.

"Finally about time. Lets just hope this is where the dang pond is"merucyr said as they marched toward the light of the exit.

Another ten minutes they fianlly came to an opening and what they saw wasn't just a pond it was a large lake.

"Whoa…okay…wasn't expecting this to be your pond"mercury replied almost in awe of the sight.

"Yeah….it impressive but we got a job to care of rember. The pipes are…"Zuri begin as she looked toward the water as she walked to the edge of the lake. As she did she examined the outer edge of it.

"This is where the direct route is to the town it's right here"zuri finished as she looked around and decided to check the water.

"If its in the water you might wanna try taking a swim to find out what blocking it""mercury said

"Yeah i aint catching a cold thank you i got an idea"zuri said as she put her palm to the water on the ground near the pond. She took a deep breath as a sonar like pulse went trhoughout the pond trying to locate the piper. To her luck she could feel some metal reflect of it that was maybe three feet to their right.

"Over here"zuri said before heading directly to where it was to mercury surprise.

"So what you can sense where things are or something?"he asked

"Sort of kinda like echo location in a way. I can send a pulse around and see where things are. But the thing is I can't even find their dam camp. I've looked everywhere for them and they could just be in our dam backdoor"zuri replied

They arrived at the spot where the pipe was, zuri dipped her hand in the water feeling around for the pipe but felt it sealed off by something metallic. She felt around notcing the pipe was sealed shut by a troch

"Dammit they sealed it shut with a torch. We need some intense fire to even unsea it"zuri said taking her hand out of the water.

"Should have brought my girlfriend since she all about fire"mercury said

"Yeah though…"zuri said as she pulled out a pistol from her side"a gun should do it if we ripped the seal open."zuri said as she handed him the pistol as he nodded and took aim.

"Alright tell me when to shoot and see if this works"he said aiming at the spot the pipe was.

"Aim directly at the top of the pipe…their"zuri said quickly as merucyr fired a shot at the water. They heard the bullet hit the piper as they felt condient to fire another shot at the water which was quickly followed by a third, a fourth and fifth shot. Not until he unloaded an entire clip when zuri checked to see if their was any chage in the piper and to her surprise their was a change as the seal on the piper was damaaged enough that the rest of the seal could be peeled right off as zuri did just that as the water came rushing into the pipe.

"Alright the water is on its way to the town. It might be maybe a few minutes till it reaches the town. But lets head back and tell them the good news"zuri said as the two began to make their way back to the village.

As they did zuri looked at mercury who was deep in thought right now"hey something up? You look stressed"zuri said

This caught mercury off guard for a second"oh just worried about my girl is all"he replied

"Really why is something wrong with her shes the blonde one right"zuri replied as mercury nodded

"You see we were in vale when it fell. She lost three people that day who were like family to her even. I'm worried about her mental health"mercury replied

"Look i'm sure everything will be alright just be calm with her and don't try to push her on the subject"zuri advised tapping him on the arm as mercury rubbed the spot she hit.

It was getting dark soon and mercury seemed to agree with the cheetah faunus. The two of them headed back to the village but unknown to them near the small cave on the hills. Two cultist were their as they had some glass bottles.

"Brother are you ready to make a scarfiece for our mission success"a female cultist asked

"Yes sister I shall wake the beast for it to begin its journey to the village of those vermin"he replied

Then he turned to the creature in the cave as he grabbed some bottles in hand. Without hesitation he began to throw the bottles at the beast as it was smashed on impact. As the bottles did the beast slowly woke up from its slumber as it roared in anger. The male cultist opened his arm up.

The female cultist then quickly snapped his wrist as he flinched a little. But soon enough he began to scream in pain as the creature was slowly making it way out. Once it did the two cultist then rushed over to the edge as they jumped off. As they did the female cultist had the male cultist in her arms as she pulled a cord on a backpack she wore and his.

The two cultist bags then opened to reveal a set or parachutes as the male cultist was in pain as he cried a little. But the creature above now was following the two down the mountain it seems towards it destination kuroyuri.

Back at the viilage the sun was starting to set as everyone was getting ready to turn in the the night as they made some progress in finsihing the buidling that were currently in progress. They were albe to put more villagers in the homes that were made for the night but their was still plenty of work needed to be done for tommorrow. Along with that rogue made a few small walls near certain parts of the forest incase of an attack tommorrow.

But rogue was waiting for mercury return outside, along with thinking about what qing told her and ren early.

Flashback to early.

Inside the chief house ren, nora and rogue sat their while qing sat crossed legged in silence. He had a tea in his hands as he drank it before he set it down on the table.

"You three seem to be troubled right now"qing said knowingly.

"Umm i'm fine see"nora said with a big grin pointing at her smile.

Ren nodded as he turned away from the master that was his fahters. While rogue just turned away crossing her arms under her bust. She didn't even know why she was here because this old guy told her to come.

"Yeah seriously it none of your business old man"rogue added with annoyance.

Qing closed his eyes"you know their is a saying for someone seeking vengeance. "He said which shocked a couple of them being rogue and ren.

"Uhh that why you brought us here for a little revenge speech….so what?"rogue asked annoyed

"Sir I do not seek to kill a person, but a monster"ren corrected with anger nora looked worried at her boyfriend.

"But sometimes letting it consume you could bring more harm than good"Qing said wisly as Ren clenched his fist a little tight.

"It isn't a person its a soulless being that destroyed my home before"ren said as calmly as he could but had anger in his tone still.

"Ren right that thing that took this place before might come back. So what grimm have no soul"rogue said as she got up to leave the room. But qing said something that stopped the girl in her tracks.

"Really from how your acting you seem to know a grimm who had a soul it seems"qing said as rogue had a shocked expression on her face. She turned glaring at the man.

"How would you know?"she questioned wondering how exactly he would know about her parter and leader. This village looks like it doesn't even have tv or anything here that was modern tech.

Qing placed his hands on his knees"I can see many things with you and Li son here. I understand that you hate the beast that took your father and mother boy. But if you let that hate consume you, you could die"qing said wisley with a calm expression.

"Maybe he right about that ren"nora suggested

"It doesn't matter if I can put a stop to this beast i'll even d–"ren begun before qing stopped him.

"You can't just waste your life away, you have people that care about you"qing said as gestured toward nora.

Ren clenched his fist but he took a deep breath as he looked at nora next to him. She looked at him for a moment as he blinked before seeing the same little girl who was scared all that time ago. Then he blinked again to see she had tears in her eyes.

"Ren…hes right….I know you miss your parents…i'm sorry…that your mom died saving me. "nora apolgized turnign away.

But ren soften his gaze as he gently turned nora head toward him as she had tears in her eyes. He used his thumb to wipe them away as he looked at her with a smile. Then he placed his forehead against her exhaling.

"It not your fault my mother did one last good deed in this world. Along with meeting you and falling for you. It not your fault its that things fault"Ren said as nora glared at him.

She riased her hand as she slapped her boyfriend across the face. Ren was surrpsied by this but before he got a word out she spoke.

"No quit thinking like that I know your mad. But if you let your emotions control you could actually die if that thing does attack. We've been through soo much"nora said soflty as she grabbed his hands with both of hers.

"Don't let it end…please we can do this together to stop it. You need help to face that thing"nora said as it seemed her words got through to ren.

Also surprsing rogue that nora said something like that. She thought she was a ditzy girl who was very hyper active at times.

Ren smiled a little before bringing nora in for a hug"you are…correct if I let hate consume me I may make a mistake. Thank you"Ren said as he let her go as nora smiled.

Qing then looked at rogue"and for you it seems you've lost many recently. Its hard to let go of someone you lost. But would they want you to ki–"qing begun before rogue interupted him.

"Hey old guy buzz off its none of your business what I plan to do. I'm doing this for my friends and family that got hurt or….died"rogue said before quickly turning away before leaving the three.

Present.

The old guy needs to learn to mind his business. What she does for her friends that she lost is her decsion not his. At this point she doesn't care if she has to kill Team BRAS to make them pay for what they did to tanner, cinder, zane and pyrrha.

"You guys did an amazing job today"koa complimented

"Heh yeah thanks it was no big deal"ruby replied

"Come on don't sell yourself short kiddio you all did some good today. This is what being a huntsman all about sometimes"Qrow said looking toward the village smiling

"Doing small things like this could lead to bigger things in the future"he finished as ruby giggled a little.

"When did you become so wise…old man"ruby replied

"Hey when you become a leader of an entire group of noble warrior it in your nature to become a little wise"viri said

As they were their soon enough jaune rushed over with some joy on his face.

"Hey you guys gotta see this"jaune said before he ran out toward the village. The group quickly followed him to where he was going and when they stoped they noticed that the water was running underneath an old stone bridge that connected to other trenchs in the town in seems.

"Look like mercury and zuri got the pipe unsealed. We got water again"jaune said presenting the water.

Ren looked at the water that was rushing in as he blinked for a second. He looked to see his old home actually coming back to his former glory. He blinked again but didn;t realize he let a small tear escape his eyes. Jaune noticed this smiling happy his teammates home was being restored.

After a bit more excitement everyone returned back to their houses as the sun had begun to set. In that time mercury and zuri had returned but rogue was already turned in for the night. Which worried mercury a little.

"Hey if it we took too long"mercury apolgized

"It fine but great job on getting the water back here. It might help them get things done alot faster here"Ruby said

"Yeah just be glad that another thing off our list of things that need to be taken care of. "Koa started

"He right their the unseen eye that needs to be taken care now you all should get some sleep and we can start hunting them down first thing in the morning"qrow said as they all decided to call it for a night. They decided to get some sleep though rogue seemed to troubled while she soon enough a scorpion faunus that has taken two people she deeply cared about will be their soon.

Seems the group managed to complete alot of task to help the village prepare for anything right now. But the cult seems to be stepping up their game so tyrian can please his mistresses on his mission...he'll burn that village to the ground.
