A/N: Man, been a while for this one too, huh? Well, I think it's because I've lost a bit of interest and with how I've been changing up my stories, I wasn't sure how to return to this. I finally started a different way to put out the outline thanks to the one I've been using for Dragons' Souls (the HTTYD crossover). Also, I decided to kind of throw out some things like the Hoopa ring that Ren used in the old draft to jump between worlds...for the most part. You'll see what I mean in this. Anyway, enough rambling. Enjoy the new prologue!

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's nor Pokémon. Both go to their respective owners. I only claim my OCs. Also, prepare the soap for Ren's potty mouth.

Part One

Prologue:

It's rather funny. I spent most of my time wanting to get back home, and now here I was. Going back to the world I had fallen into. It's been, what, two years since I had gotten back to the world of Pokémon? I spent the whole time wondering who I was or even what I did to get so badly injured and lose my memories.

"Well, here we are. Spear Pillar," an older teen with silver hair and violet eyes said to the two others with him.

"Jeez, this place just sends shivers down my spine," the dark violet and gold eyes girl muttered. "And here we are, about to recreate what Team Galactic did all those years ago."

"To be fair, we're not summoning both Dialga and Palkia to change the world without emotion."

"I know, but we're still summoning a Legendary Pokémon. Who does that?"

"Us, and people of the past. How else could Team Galactic or any group know how to summon them? Besides, it's either a more guaranteed way of helping Ren or we jump into any glowing light and hoping it takes us to the right place."

"I...guess that's fair."

The third person of the group, a boy the same age as the silver-haired one with dark brown tussled hair sporting a braid on the left side of his head and blue-green eyes, stared ahead and seemed to not listen to the girl's words. On the right side of his face was two scars, one going over his eye and the other parallel to it but missing his eye. He jolted a bit when the silver-haired teen put a hand on his shoulder.

"You okay there, Ren?"

"Yeah, just nervous," the other, Ren, replied with a small smile. "Didn't think I was going to go through with this."

"I'd be nervous, too. Legendary Pokémon are nothing to sneeze at, and all the texts say you need to 'impress' them to be able to gain their favor," the girl said. "And I'm hoping it means through a battle and not some blood sacrifice."

"Thanks for the confidence boost, Jazz."

"I try my best."

"But she is right. If it's not through a battle that will impress Palkia, what are we going to do?" the other boy asked.

"Uh, I guess we run screaming for our lives," Ren responded, scratching the back of his head. "I'm only hoping returning one of the Lustrous Orbs Palkia lost would satisfy 'em. Or at the least get their attention."

"You did bring a Fairy-type at least, right? Or pull out a Mega that turns Fairy," Jazz asked.

"Nope, going to bank on Riki for this."

"What?! Are you crazy?!"

"Why? What's wrong with Riki going for it?"

"Besides the fact that Palkia is part Water-type, a Charizard isn't going to be much of a match to 'em."

"Jazz has a point. Maybe you'd be better off having one of your other Pokémon facing Palkia. You did train up an Alolan Ninetales. She'd be able to go toe-to-toe with a Legendary like them," the other boy pointed out.

"I know, Eric, but I've had Riki longer than I've had any of my other Pokémon. Plus, he knows about the place we were in. He knows why I want to head back."

The boy, Eric, sighed. "Well, I guess it's hard to argue with that."

"Wha- Eric, seriously?!" Jazz yelled.

"Jazz, our starters will always fight better than ones we just caught. I'm sure your Venusaur would be able to be more in sync with you than your more recent additions."

"...fine, but it's still risky. If Ren loses, we might not have another chance to try and impress Palkia."

A part of me wonders if I even wanted to head back home. Any time I thought about what to do when I returned, my thoughts gravitated to staying where I was. I felt more comfortable in the other world. Like it was where I belonged, but I couldn't do that to Riki or the others. It would be better going home where they were comfortable and where my family was. That would be the best option...wasn't it?

"Well, then I'll just keep trying," Ren stated with a determined expression.

"Please tell me you're not seriously going to keep bringing a Palkia here until you defeated on of 'em," Jazz groaned.

"What else am I supposed to do, though? It's like Eric said. The only other way is to jump into every random portal that happens to be open, and even then I'm more likely to end up in the past or future of this place than a completely different world."

"But summoning Palkia over and over again is just as likely to fail."

"Okay, you two. Let's save our energy," Eric cut in. "We've already made it this far. Ren, take the Lustrous Orb to the spot. Jazz and I will stay back here."

Ren sighed. "Okay." Ren pulled out a large pink orb almost the size of his head and started heading for the pedestal.

"This is crazy," Jazz sighed. "Can Riki even scratch a Palkia?"

"Ren has had him learn different moves, so he must know what he's doing," Eric replied. "I hope..."

But when I got back to the world I came from, I felt even more lost than when I woke up with no memories. Especially with hearing everyone saying how I've calmed down and everything. I was so confused. Did...Was I really that different? Riki and the others said that I was a good Trainer and cared for others. Was that not the case previously? Did they not tell me everything that I did? Could they have hid that to protect me from the truth?

Very gently, Ren set the orb on the pedestal. He barely stepped back when a roar echoed around him. Several feet ahead of him, a swirling purple and pink portal opened up. Claws gripped the edge and pulled out the large pink and white dragon. Red eyes narrowed down at him. 'Who dares summon me?' a voice echoed in his mind.

Keep calm keep calm keep calm, Ren chanted in his head. He straitened up. "I dared."

'Have you humans not learned your lesson? What could you possibly be wanting, I wonder. Could you be wanting to change the world to your liking? Banish an enemy to another dimension? Or erase them entirely from existence.'

"I don't want any of that."

'Then what, pray tell, are you after?'

"I'm wanting a way to reach back to a world I fell into a few years ago."

'Ah, then that's it. You're looking to take over a world without Pokémon to defend themselves.'

"No! I don't want that! I want to return to my friends there!"

'...friends?'

"I had been badly hurt when I got to this other world and made friends with the ones that helped me during the year or so there. I want to at least be able to show that I'm okay and didn't disappear."

'...noble sentiments, but before I even grant you this ability, you'll have to prove yourself in battle. Are you prepared to do so?'

"I am." Ren unhooked one of the Poké balls at his waist. He pressed the ball up to his forehead after enlarging it. "I'm counting on you, pal." He pulled the ball away, pulling his arm back and then throwing it into the air. "Let's go, Riki!"

Out of the flash of red light came the Charizard. He gave a snort, a small flame coming from his nose, and then let out a loud roar, spreading his wings. He got into a fighting stance. "Rrrr..."

'Well, this should be interesting.' Palkia spread its wings, letting out its own roar.

"Riki, let's start off strong. Air Slash!" Ren commanded.

Riki roared, flying up into the air. At a flap of his wings, he launched a sphere of condensed air at the space dragon. Palkia brought up its arms, shielding most of the blast as dust was flung up. The dust cloud was split as Palkia spread its arms again. It let out a roar, energy gathering up on its right arm.

"That's Spacial Rend!" Jazz gasped.

"Ren, watch it!" Eric added.

"Get ready, Riki," Ren stated. He kept a close watch as Palkia drew its arm back. "Now!"

Riki opened his mouth, purple energy forming in his maw. Right as Palkia let loose its attack, Riki launched his. The purple energy formed into a dragon shape as it flew to the pink arch, colliding with it. "Wait, was that...?"

"Dragon Pulse," Ren smirked. "Been waiting to use that move...among others. Riki! Fly in close and let loose a bit of Scorching Sands!"

The Charizard roared from where he was. He angled himself downward. Palkia opened its mouth and formed a ball of water, sending it at the Flame Pokémon. Riki's eyes narrowed in preparation. As the ball was launched, he swiveled out of the way of it. Before he collided with the ground, he spread his wings wide and flapped hard. The dirt beneath started swirling up as he let out a few embers mixed in. Palkia let out a roar as the mini sandstorm hit it in the middle, causing it to stumble back a bit. It winced as it felt the sting.

"Scorching Sands? That's a new one on me," Jazz muttered.

"I think a place in Galar teaches that move. It has the same chance to burn the target like a lot of Fire-type moves, despite it being Ground-type," Eric explained.

"Oh."

'Ngh, clever move,' Palkia commented. 'Thought it a bit strange to be using such a creature of flame, but you've used other moves with him. But that's still only three permitting. Could the final be fire?'

"Would have thought an all powerful deity Pokémon would know," Ren retorted.

'Heh, if you weren't doing this test, I would have struck you down. But let's see how well you can handle your creature's ultimate weakness!' Palkia roared. A few boulders lying around the battlefield started to shake before levitating off the ground with a purple hue.

"Ah shit. Ancient Power!" Jazz said. "If that connects, Riki's a goner!"

"Ren! Get him out of there! There's no way he can take a Rock move!" Eric yelled.

'This is the end!' Palkia roared, sending the rocks hurling toward Riki.

"Riki, Scorching Sands again!" Ren commanded.

He flapped his wings, sending the burning sand into the large rocks. The two attacks collided, both sides trying to push through to hit the other. However, both moves exploded, sending a cloud of dust covering the entire area. The two Trainers staying back covered their faces with their arms. Eric and Jazz coughed, trying to look through the cloud to try and see the battlefield. Neither could make out Ren or the two Pokémon.

"Ren! Riki!" Eric called.

"Crap, can't see anything," Jazz growled. "Got a 'mon with Defog on ya?"

"No, I wasn't- wait, what's that light?"

"Eh?" Jazz caught a few multi-colored streams of light from one side of the field, then two. A strong flap of wings sent a form high into the air. Right as she tried to get a closer look, the sun seemed to brighten suddenly. "F***! Now I really can't see!"

"I didn't hear Ren call out a move. Does that mean..?"

Palkia squinted, trying to see through the mess. It could use its spacial powers to see through it all, however that wasn't allowed during a test. Legendary Pokémon were required to limit what they could do when testing humans and their creatures. That was how it was done in the past, and that was how it will be kept. 'Grr, where are you, child of fire? Show yourself!'

"Well, I guess you asked nicely," Ren's voice cut in. "Riki! Solar Beam!"

The space dragon looked up toward the sun. Riki, now in one of the two Charizard Mega Formes, unleashed the golden energy forming in his mouth toward Palkia. The attack hit Palkia hard, causing it to let out a loud roar. The force of the attack sent Palkia into the dirt, the blow throwing the dust out of view. Riki flew back down, standing tall in front of Ren. Palkia still laid motionless on the other side of the field.

"Holy crap...he did it! He beat Palkia! With a Charizard!" Jazz whooped. "Who woulda thought that-"

"Jazz, might want to hold your excitement," Eric replied. "Riki hasn't changed back to his normal form. That means Palkia still has energy left to fight."

"...you gotta be kidding me..."

Palkia shifted a bit. Ren and Riki both got tense, the Charizard ready to attack and the Trainer ready to throw out another command. The Legendary got back on its feet, staring down at the two. Then, it bowed its head. 'I concede. You pass.'

"Uh...wait, really?" Ren asked, confused. "I thought it only was over when-"

'Win or lose, as long as you impressed me, it would have mattered not. Both you and your partner fought with conviction. He shared your wish of returning to this world you want to go. It has been a while since I've had such a fight.'

"So...now what? Does that mean you'll send us to that world or..?"

Palkia held up a clawed hand, energy forming in its palm. When the energy gained shape, in its hand was a bracelet with a swirl on the top. 'This is my blessing. It will allow you to go back and forth between the realms. Use it wisely, or I may revoke it should I find out you did not go with what you were wishing for.' The bracelet was floated down to Ren.

The Trainer reached out, taking it. "Thank you."

'There is, however, some limitations with it. It does allow you to go back and forth, but only to the places you have been to. If you use it to go to a place you had never once set foot in, then it will need longer to recharge. Be careful where you go. Should you end up in the place you weren't expecting, there is little that can be done to get out of there.'

Ren nodded. "Okay." He held the bracelet in his hands.

'Good luck, human.' Palkia roared, a bright light enveloping it. When the light faded, it and the orb was gone.

Riki changed back to his regular form, stepping up to Ren's side. "Rrr..."

"You okay there, Riki? That Ancient Power didn't hit too hard, did it?" Riki shook his head and then winced. "Yeah right, you're not as young as you used to be." The Charizard snorted in his face, causing Ren to let out a coughing laugh. "Okay okay, I get it. You don't like being reminded." He turned his attention back to the item. Well, this is it. Will you be angry with me...Yusei?

A/N: Yay for anime-ruled fight scenes! XD Okay okay, but really, I hope the fight was okay enough. I always get a bit nervous when trying anything of this sort nowadays, especially with writing in series like High Guardian Spice or even Master of the Universe: Revelations. Kind of the reason why when I wrote Ren's first written Duel, I went with my brother's suggestion of having him lose as opposed to winning (besides, with how I botched the first version of it, that was the better version). Hope you guys enjoyed, and see you for the next chapter!

PS- I started developing an idea of how Legendary Pokémon battles go. So while they do have god-like powers, they restrict themselves to give a chance to any humans wanting to test their abilities or gain favors from them. This is kind of to explain why Trainers can face them and/or catch them, depending on if the Legendary agrees to it. There are some exceptions like with Latios/Latias and Mewtwo. This mainly applies to Legendary Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Giratina, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Regigigas, Zekrom, Reshiram, etc as with a lot of the text in-game they're considered god-like. If anyone has anything to add to it or even want to use the headcannon, feel free to say something! I'm always open to expanding this. :3
