Chapter 19
Reforging
Melissa stood in bemused shock as the large group descended on her. She had received more back slaps and hugs in the last fifteen than she thinks she had ever received. Karana standing beside her; ensuring she did not disappear in a dog pile of armour
Marina Wren turned her head to the side in her helmet before she took hers of. Her blonde hair streaked with grey.
"The others on the ship you came with, what are they to you?" She asked
"Terri is a sister in all but blood. Bastila is a friend and someone I have a bond with. Mission is a good friend, Carth is like an annoying uncle. Zaalbar owes me a life debt."
Karana dope slapped Canderous.
"Di'kut. You left her sister on the ship."
"I already explained to them that our ways are not their ways, besides two are Jettii." Canderous objected
"And my niece nearly once was, before she got to her senses in time. It does not change the fact that they are important to her."
"Riduur, at this point life would be easier for you, if you just go and get them." Annaka said with a hint of a smile
"No need, they are almost here." Daria spoke." The scouts are very impressed with them, though they report the twi'lek has a foul mouth."
"You would also have a foul mouth if you fell into a cannok midden without any beskar'gam on" Marina smirked.
It took Melissa a moment to remember what a midden was, before getting a smirk too. She made a mental note to innocently offer Mission some toothpaste when she arrives.
"You did not check for tracking devices and you called me careless." Annaka said
"I am sorry, cayri'ka." Canderous sighed
It was slightly amusing to Melissa to see Canderous going from the hard bitten mercenary to the slightly hen pecked husband, brother and son. He noticed her smirk.
"Your turn will come. They are still being polite to you in order not scare you off."
Daria smacked his arm lightly.
"Nonsense, ad. Why pick on my bu'ad, when you are around."
"Oya buir." He sighed.
Marina whistled sharply.
"Helmets on, time to intimidate the Auretiise."
There was a general bit of laughter and the figures shuffled back to their original positions.
"You know Terri and Bastila will know where they are." Melissa pointed out
"True but it will be interesting to see just how good the Jetii truly are. The reports we received on them seemed fantastical at times in regards to their abilities. But incomprehensible on their beliefs and attitudes."
Carth looked up from his datapad, the tracking signal had been stationary for a while.
"We are getting close." He said.
Bastila and Terri stiffened. Zaalbar sniffed the air and started reaching for his bowcaster. Terri grabbed his hand and shook her head.
"Too many of them. No one touch a weapon." She said softly.
She cautiously stepped forward, hands away from her body partially raised. Twenty figures shimmered in view.
"So many." Mission whispered
"There are more." Bastila replied.
A figure approached Terri. She felt amusement coming from him.
"If this was a bad holomovie, I would say take me to your leader." Terri quipped
"Look at that, Jetii can have a sense of humour."
"I am just special that way, most have theirs surgically removed."
The figure threw back his head and laughed.
"Come, the Duchess and the Countess wishes you welcome and offer sanctuary."
"You obviously know who we are, might we have a name?"
"Lancelot Ordo."
The man removed his helmet, revealing a classically handsome face with flowing brown hair. He flashed a roguish smile, his teeth were perfect. He reached out and took Mission's hand, kissing her knuckles.
"Cousin Canderous erred in his description, for he never mentioned such beauties as the ones I am surrounded by."
Terri rolled her eyes as Mission semi swooned.
"Carefull loverboy, she is underaged and has a wookie protecting her virtue."
"Alas, shall I set my eyes on another beauty perhaps." He responded suavely
"I play home team advantage, so no sell there either. Bastila is not allowed. So I am afraid you struck out."
"However shall I survive?"
"You will get over it the next port you get to." Another replied.
"And now my dear cousin mocks me too."
He turned and started walking to the nearby structure . Mission prodded Terri in the back as they fell in behind him.
"Was that really necessary. I can look after myself."
Terri raised an eyebrow.
"And then have to console Melissa when she finds out you are cheating on her."
"We are just friends." Mission responded
"I think she is protesting too much." Bastilla remarked
The female mandalorian chuckled.
"Care to share the gossip? It is never too early to get some juicy information."
" There is no gossip, we are just friends."
"Really? And who introduced herself again with, what was that line again?" Terri teased
"I believe it was do you believe in love at first sight or do I need to walk past again." Carth added.
"I was nervous, I say stupid things when I am nervous." Mission defended herself.
"And who came back recently with full body sunburn again?" Bastila stoked the fire
"We went swimming, nothing happened."
The female put her hand on Mission shoulders amidst the general chuckles coming from their escort
"We believe you. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge."
"Why did you say that out loud?" Mission asked
"If I was not wearing my helmet you would have seen it."
Mission tried to retaliate.
"Seeing as no one wanted to answer me before when I asked. Do you guys have tattoos to spot your mate when you bang seeing as you can not take of your helmets."
The group came to a stop before laughter rolled through the group. The woman finally pulled her helmet off and wiped tears from her eyes.
"Got to remember that one when I speak to some Death Watch nuggets again. No, Kiddo, the only one here with a tattoo is Lance."
"Really?"
"He has one on his lower back in the shape of a downward pointing arrow, written above it says wrong hole."
The laughter returned and the man plodded on muttering about getting no respect.
Bastila was sitting on a patio looking out over the jungle of Dxun when Terri found her, her expression pensive. The music and laughter followed her through as she stepped from the main hall of the command post. Judging from the cries of encouragement filtering through Zaalbar was being challenged to an eating contest again.
"They are not quite as what we were told, wouldn't you agree." Bastila said musingly.
"No, they are not. But then again how would you rile people up to fight them if they seem like the neighbour next door."
"Propoganda." Bastilla replied," It makes you wonder what else we have been misled on."
"Quite a lot of things."
Bastila pointed out to the jungle.
"You can still feel the echoes of the last war out there in the force. It is disturbing."
Terri took her hand as she sat down. She pointed to the room behind her.
" And what do you feel coming from there." She asked
" Happiness, joy and a small amount of melancholy, but that was fleeting." Bastilla responded
"Now taking that into consideration which one is the better to immerse yourself in?"
Terri stood up and pulled her hand. Bastila rose from her seat reluctantly, a smile hiding on her lips
"Come on let us go back in there. I have it on good authority even Carth is having a good time." Terri cajoled
"Surely you jest. Mister Doom and gloom will not sleep out of paranoia, is enjouying himself. " Bastila responded
"Only one way to find out, plus we might need to wrangle Mission to get her away from the drinks. She was already dancing on the tables." Terri smirked
"This despite her going on about twi'lek stereotypes." Bastila querried.
"Tonight we record it and tomorrow get to call her a hypocrite when she is hung over."
Terri led the way back, never letting go of Bastila's hand. Their return was remarked upon with whistles and cheers and calls for more drinks. Terri noted Canderous and his wife discretely exit the room, though the exit was noted by the two clan matriarchs, who quietly lifter their mugs with a smile.
"Terri, Bastila. Gal'gala." Karana waved them over.
Terri pulled Bastila over to the table and sat down. A serving droid dropped of another platter of food, a jug of ale and a bottle with clear spirits, along with several glasses and mugs. She reached of a piece of haashun. Placing some fried barbeque nerf strips, some fruit and a dollop of spicy sauce into the thin slice of bread, she rolled it into a tube before taking a bite. Kanaka was breaking the seal on the bottle and poured generous measures before pushing the glasses over.
"Vor'e. Did I say that right? Bastila asked, lifting her glass
Karana nodded happily.
"Ba'gedet'ye! You got it right."
Marina rose and hammered her gauntlet on the table. Gradually the noise died down till she had everyone's attention
"Tonight we celebrate the return of one of our kin. Normally we would ask him to tell us his tales, but since his wife has prior claim we will skip this."
There was general laughter and a light bashing of gauntlets on the table. Marina waived her hand and silence returned.
"His quest may not be complete. But he has returned in triumph for he found the greatest treasure of all. A lost child has been returned to our houses."
There was wild cheering and bashing on the table. Marina waited a few moments before waving again.
"Despite not knowing her true heritage she has chosen to follow the Resol'nar. She has completed her Verdgotten, though I have to point out to the young ones still to do theirs. Doing it batnor and naked is not a good idea."
Melissa flushed red and looked down. There was a peal of good natured laughing, she received a few backslaps as well. Marina continued.
"Tomorrow, we will add on to her legacy with the forging of her first beskar'gam. Rise and approach Melissa aliit Carpenter ad est Wren ad est Ordo."
Melissa rose from her seat in the front table and walking around the front of the table she approached the older woman. She stopped and dropped to one knee. Daria stood up and picked up a woven reed basket, walking around the table she placed the basket beside Melissa.
"Psst." Karana whispered.
She passed two metal bars to the two under the table, the bars were a grey silver in colour and extremely heavy. The one Terri got was significantly larger than the one Bastilla. Karana quickly explained softly.
"Contributions to her armour, Terri, as the sister yours have to be the biggest. Lancelot will take care of Mission's contribution. Carth and Zaalbar will be covered by other cousins."
Discretely looking around Terri noticed Lancelot whispering in Mission's ear.
Marina Walked from the table and stopped before Melissa. She reached down and pulled Melissa to her feet.
"After tonight you will never kneel to another again. I proclaim you to be a proud daughter of Mandalore, and my kin."
"Oya, Manda. Oya, Manda. Oya, Manda." The cry echoed into the night.
The two older woman threw small bars into the basket and kissed Melissa on each cheek and the forehead.
"Moratur at Aliit." They said.
Karana nudged Terri forward and followed closely, motioning for Bastila to wait. Terri added her contribution, she pulled her into a hug, before repeating the kisses
"I am so proud of you." She whispered.
"Thank you,Vod." Melissa replied, sniffing slightly
Karana added three ingots. She gave the traditional kisses and whispered
"For my brother and his wife, seeing they are otherwise engaged."
"Don't hog the cousin, we all want to get back to drinking." Lancelot called
A line was formed with some good natured jostling taking place. At the end Melissa thought her cheeks and forehead would become numb. Marina waved her back to her seat.
Marina lifted her ale mug high.
"While we celebrate the living we also have to honour the dead. This moon holds the graves of many of our kin. And the dead of our friends and allies. Tonight we honour the many. However as a parting from tradition we also remember the honoured enemy, they who thought with bravery. Please rise."
They all stood and raised their mugs.
"Nu kyr'adyc shi taab'echaaj'la." Daria called out.
The mugs were emptied on the floor and the glasses were lifted next.
"Ni su'uyi, gar kyr, adyc, nipartayli gar darasuum." Karana called out.
The glasses were emptied in solemn silence, a minute of quiet was observed. Marina banged her gauntlet on the table again.
"Drink! Eat! Be merry!"
Cheers greeted her proclamation and the feast continued. Karana refilled their glasses. Terri took a sip enjoying the fruity taste of the spirits.
"Tomorrow at first light there will be another ritual we will perform. Normally it is only for the women of the clan, but as her sister you may attend. Bastilla, as Terri's bondmate the invitation is also offered to you. However I must warn you if you participate; the events will never be spoken off. Call it a rite of womanhood if you will."
"What does the ritual entail?" Bastilla asked.
"I will come to your room later and explain."
Hours later the feast was starting to wind down. Mission was passed out at her table, Carth was definitely swaying in his chair by his table and Zaalbar was still eating with one hand, the other hand being used for arm wrestling. Melissa was in her chair, desperately trying to stay awake, a happy smile never leaving her face. Terri pointed to Mission.
"I will get happy over there, you grab the belle of the ball. Carth is Zaalbar's problem"
Melissa passed out the moment her head touched her pillow. They left Mission lying on her side, softly babbling incoherently. Another short holovid joined the blackmail file.
Karana was waiting outside as they exited the girls room. She motioned them to follow.
Marina and Daria waited for the outside the door of a room. Daria opened it to reveal a large pool like structure, steam drifting from the surface, Bastila realised the purpose first.
"A communal bath?" She asked
Daria nodded. Before motioning for them to enter. The floor was tiled in a blue and white checkerboard pattern. The walls were decorated in frescoes depicting ancient mandalorian life. The colours vibrant and deep, the details immaculate.
"The communal bath is a very old mandalorian custom dating back to our distant past when the baths were the central meeting place for a village. To us it represents trust between equals and a place of openness." Daria explained
"All are equal when naked and no secrets can be kept." Terri hazarded a guess.
"Bath houses such as these had been the place where most of our peace treaties between clans were forged." Marina continued
Bastila looked around the room again, secretly delighted at being given insight to a culture anthropologists knew very little of, beings who would go to war with each other for such knowledge. Her inner scholar squealing in glee.
"So what is this ritual you want to do tomorrow?" She tried to play it cool
"Before we begin we will need a blood oath of silence, even if you do not participate." Karana stated.
"You will have it." Bastila jumped for the chance.
Marina pointed to the window set in the far wall directly in line with the door.
"First light will hit the room first through there. The ritual is in four parts. The initiate is brought to the door by her sponsor, usually a sibling. All clothes are left outside the door, the initiate is then led into the bath by her sponsor, where the women of the clan meet her as an equal."
"By leaving the clothes behind, I am guessing it symbolises leaving childhood or the old life behind and the importance of first light symbolises a rebirth." Bastila postulated
Daria nodded in approval.
"Exactly, she is then washed to symbolise the cleaning of the soul. Breakfast will be served in here and any woman of the clan can share their wisdom or knowledge with the newest among our ranks. This part is called The Cleansing."
Karana took over,
"She then steps from the bath and is taken to the next room where she is measured and a bodysuit is tailored for her. She will be given a choice between red, blue and black. The colours representing the basic warrior structure of our culture. Red is for frontline fighters, usually the wearers of heavy armour. Blue is for the scout or assassin class, black is for the general fighter class. The measurement is important to get her dimensions right for her armour, but more to help her choose her primary training. This part is called The Measurement"
Marina took over the explanation again
"The third part is the most significant. She will be given two hours to reflect on her choice to become a true Mandalorian, if she decides not to go through with becoming one this will be her chance to step down without the loss of her honour. Many a civilian mandolorian has stepped down during this time. There is a caveat to this; if she steps down the possibility to wear armour is given up by her and she will be classified as a civilian. During this time the sponsors and the direct family stay with her. She is the only one allowed to speak without censure, the others may speak if she addresses them. This part is called The Reflection."
Daria took up the last part.
"The last part is The Crafting. She will be led to the forge room where all of the houses will observe the forging of her armour. She will be required to add some of her blood to the molten metal before the true forging begins. Her chest armour will be fitted to her by the head of her house, or houses in this case. The rest will be fitted by family and friends. Once outfitted she is classified as a full adult and a warrior of Mandalore."
Karana drew a knife and cut her hand without flinching.
"I will be needing that oath now, Are you in or out."
Terri motioned for the knife. Once she received it she clasped Karana's hand with her own bloodied one.
"I am in."
Bastilla cut her palm and extended her hand.
"I am in as well,"
Marina and Daria nodded their approval and added their blood to the pact being made.
Terri woke to the buzzing of her comlink. A single message was displayed
"It is time. Bring her."
She got up and Bastila was already out of her bed. Pulling of her clothes she dressed in a thin black robe, Bastila following suite. Melissa was groggy when she was woken up and told to completely undress and don the blue robe. They exited the room, Mission left to slumber as she would only be allowed to witness the fourth stage.
Melissa smelt her blood boiling away in the white hot metal, having made sure not to flinch or make a sound as she cut open her palms for the offering. The question as to why all the mandalorians present had the same type of scar on their hands, now answered. She had also been advised against using the force to heal her injuries. Her new blue bodysuit slightly uncomfortable and the black boots pinching a bit as they did not have her exact size boot in store. After what felt like an eternity, the cut was dressed in a white strip of linen, she the stepped onto a small podium, ensuring all could see her. The rest of the room was shrouded in silence as the witnesses observed The Crafting.
There was the sharp clang and hissing as the main press stamped down and formed the chest and back plates. The clang of hammers and the hissing of oil was heard as the metal was shaped and annealed in the oil. Marina placed the front plate and Daria the back.
"May this protect your heart and the loyalty it holds to your clan and to Mandalore." Marina intoned.
"May this protect your back when your brothers and sisters in arm can not." Daria added
The main press lifted again and slammed down as more molten metal was introduced to the collection pan. The leg plates were the next to be formed. Akana,Canderous, Annaka and Lancelot stepped up and fitted them. Zaalbar, Carth, Mission and Bastilla stepped up for the vambraces and pauldrons. Finaly the helmet was forged and given to Terri.
Melissa had to lean forward to have her place the helmet on her head
"May this be the last things your enemies see before they die, and the first your allies see in the fight."
The observers rose and slammed their gauntlets, three times to their chests. Melissa stepped from the podium and Marina took her place.
"Welcome to our ranks. Sister in arms."
The feast that followed the ceremony was more elaborate than the night before. Melissa was placed at the head of the table in the direct middle. Her grandmothers on her right, followed by Canderous, Annaka and Akana. On her left she had Terri, Bastila and Mission. Lancelot was added to Missions left to try and equalise the table. Mission had declared that if there were any more feasts she would lose her figure or contract liver damage, not that either had stopped her from indulging again.
As the day turned to night the party got louder and the formalised seating abandoned as the revellers moved from table to table. Melissa, Mission and Lancelot was busy discussing their business plan. Lancelot showing both keen interest and an impressive business acumen.
" A holo relay in a separate room, why would you suggest that?" Mission asked
Lancelot took a sip from some form of fruit punch, before answering.
" Several reasons. One it will allow you to immediately bank your earnings from electronic transaction off world with the bigger more stable banks, or pay your suppliers directly from a more trusted bank. Leaving you with the credits to pay your taxes and small expenses. The less credits on site the less you lose in case of theft or robbery. Two having access to the holonet will allow people to contact off world family, a service you can charge fore, especially if they are spacers. They come in to talk to the wife and stay for food and drink and lose their paycheques at your tables. Three with your own devices and the right software, you ensure that your dealings remain just that, your own."
Melissa thoughtfully tapped the table with her fingers.
"Not bad reasoning and we do have the space. Initial costs may be high but it can soon pay for itself. The only holonet receiver I know of is in the enclave, there is a small office outside the enclave for public access."
Melissa looked up at Lancelot.
"Thanks for the idea, we will hover veto the "private entertainer" idea and the dancing girls in cages."
"Sex sells, you will be losing out on a money spinner there."
"Not really our thing." Melissa deflected, " Land is cheap and Mission does have her own construction company if you want to start your own private club."
Now it was Lancelot's turn to look pensive.
"Not a bad idea, did you also not say that you could not find a local brewer for your drinks?"
"No we could not find a reputable brewer, our idea was to keep the cheaper drinks local and the imports for the bigger spenders, but for time being everything will be imported and we will have to sell ale and beer at cost to not drive customers away. There is one or two brewers who make their own products, but selling instant blindness is not a good idea."
Karana, having listened in, sat herself down as she joined the discussion.
"Just how cheap is land there?" She asked.
"I have three estates of fifty hectares each. The first cost me a hundred thousand , but it came with some buildings and infrastructure. The other two were seventy five thousand each. There is empty land adjacent to mine that has not been zoned yet." Melissa answered
The two cousins looked at each other.
"Joint venture?" Lancelot proposed
"Two for food production, a third for orchards and one for a brewery and distillery. Though for that we will need a lot of credits." Akana mused
"Which we can supply if you are willing to take in a third partner." Annaka said, towing Canderous behind her.
"Off world holding company on Muunilist to prevent any Mandolorian bias?" Lancelot suggested.
"Good." Annaka replied," Now get of your shaabs, the dancing is about to begin. That is unless Mission wants to show us what we missed last night?"
A slightly hung over Melissa stepped into Karana's domain, thanking the force for allowing her to heal herself to a point. Mission looked like death warmed up as she stumbled in behind her.
Morning Mission, how are you this fine morning?" Karana asked, very loudly
"Please kill me." Mission whimpered.
"Nope, if you want to act like an adult you will have to face the consequences of your choices." Karana replied.
She clapped her gauntleted hands together and the sound echoed in the small room, before rubbing her hands together to make a grinding sound. Mission groaned in misery.
Karana turned to Melissa after shooting Mission a vicious smirk
"Now that you have your beskar'gam it is time to trick it out with upgrades, Let us hear your ideas."
"Apart from a hidden blade in the right vambrace, I really don't know what else. What do you suggest?"
Karana waved her hand about the temporary workshop. A decent sized fabricator stood next to a power supply unit. Various machines were standing idle, cables attached to a power distributer. Several crates lined a wall, components visible from the open lids.
"Let is start with your helmet, night sight and thermal is more or less normal for everyone, as well as a proximity sensor to tell you if someone is trying to sneak up on you." Karana stated.
"Sounds good." Melissa replied
"I would recommend a seal and a respirator for smoke and toxic environments. Now if you want to be lazy I can add a targeting module, but that would drain the power available to your helmet rapidly and it is slower than eyeballing it. Obviously we can slave your comlink to your helmet."
"How would you activate the comlink? Voice prompts?" Melissa asked
"Yup. I would add a voice modulator as well, do not underestimate the usefulness of intimidation. A direction finder would also be usefull. Down load an area map on your datapad, pick a nav point, and it can be displayed on a miniscreen as you go. A translator package can make your life a lot easier."
Melissa thought for a moment.
"I will take the night sight and thermal vision with the proximity sensor. The respirator and seal and the direction finder. Languages is something I pick up easily." She decided
"Probably something to do with your Jettii side, speaking of that I assume you can do that extreme jump thing, they all seem capable off." Karana replies
Melissa rubbed her neck sheepishly.
"I can, but it is a work in progress."
Mission snorted in laughter
"What she is really saying is she keeps hitting the walls when she jumps, either up or down."
"Laugh it up, miss I don't dance on tables." Melissa groused, defensively.
Karana jumped in before a bickering session could begin. She tapped on the table to get their attention.
"So we will not look at the jetpack option then, and the missile launcher system is idiotic if you ask me, if you want a rocket launcher carry one. Never mind that both add a lot of weight to carry" Karana continued
"I frequently carry a backpack so those two are a no for me as well." Melissa answered
"I will add extra armour inserts then, it takes a lot to punch through beskar but it happens so the extra padding will help, plus the inserts help with heat dissipation if you do get hit."
"Getting burned again is something I would like to avoid."
Karana paused for a few moments.
"Di'kut. I nearly forgot the most important question. What is your close quarters style?"
"I know some taras ki and some Echani techniques." Melissa replied
"Taras ki is too defensive to be of any real use" Karana scoffed," the echani stuff is usefull, but limited with all the rules attached to it. Will have to get Canderous to start you on sekare."
"Sekare?" Melissa querried
"Our style for close quarters, usefull in and out of armour. It relies heavily on power and speed and total aggression." Karana clarified
"Great more training." Melissa mock cheered
"Sucks to be you." Mission added
"I would not be so quick to be happy. She will need a sparring partner and you just volunteered." Karana responded.
Melissa snickered at Mission's crestfallen expression. Pointing to the vambraces, Karana continued
"So, one blade in the right. I can add a mini flame thrower in."
"No! No fire." Melissa responded sharply.
" Okay. A grappling hook and line launcher then maybe?"
Melissa nodded.
"Sorry, getting burned is a bit of a sore point for me. I should not have snapped at you"
"That is okay. Now I know what not to suggest. I would suggest a dart launcher as well. I know you like to use a bow, a launcher will be useful if you cannot use yours. I can add mag plates to your back plate. Considering your style I think a sniper rifle will be more your style and you can always built a glow rod for your Jetii things. It will also be usefull for the spare blaster I have seen you carry. You can add mini launchers to your leg plates, but that is just showing off again."
" I will take the mag plates, the dart launcher and the grappling line. What about a taser for close quarters?"
" Easily done, That it for you?"
" Yes."
"Then pile it on the table and let us get to work."
Lancelot strolled into the room. He walked straight to Mission.
"Terri said you were their second best slicer. She suggested I upgrade your kit"
" Second best? I beat that droid hands down without even trying."
"So you don't want an upgraded kit then. Very well, I can go take a long nap then"
" Well… Since you are offering it would be impolite not to take a look at what is available." Mission hedged
Karana and Melissa hid their smiles as Mission walked right into that trap.
"Good, let us get started then as well."
It was a much smaller party that was sending them off at the landing area. A small shuttle waiting to take the Mandalorian party back up to their light cruiser in orbit. The two older woman pulled Melissa in for a light hug. They surprised Mission by pulling her in for a hug as well
"Take care of our girl." Marina whispered in Missions ear.
"I always do." Mission replied as softly
"Good and look after yourself too, dear. You are precious to us too"
Mission blushed in happiness and gave a small sniff, before releasing the older woman after a moment longer. Canderous and Annaka was standing a distance away from the main group, saying their goodbyes.
Carth was busy loading the left over alcohol and preserved food in the cargo hold, Mission had bought the lot out. Terri having bought a case of tihaar for herself as she learned to like the drink.
Lancelot clasped Mission's shoulder in greeting before moving to the shuttle having said his goodbyes to the rest. Karana smiled at Melissa.
"See you in fifteen days for your cantina opening then." She asked.
"Gladly, just bring your own booze though as you are likely to clean out our stock."
"So it is like that then, cousin. Cheapskate."
Karana pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheeks and forehead.
"Give big brother a hard time for me okay."
"You want me to sass the man who will be training me to fight?'
"It is not my face getting pummelled, so go right ahead."
