C2 I hate wands

Tanya walked out of the magical bank with a bag of money and a bitter sense of defeat. Certainly, she had just witnessed the power of money and if that power ended up on her side she would not hesitate to strengthen her relationship with Malfoy. Would Mr. Malfoy 's son get into Hogwarts this year? Tanya already knew with whom to strengthen relations at school.

However such thoughts would be put aside for the moment, right now she was faced with the problem that brought her to Gringotts in the first place: not having the slightest idea where Flitwitch was. (Author's note, I realized I spelled his name wrong, it's Flitwick , Filius Flitwick but I think that without a doubt it is infinitely funnier to leave it wrong for the moment, if you are against it speak now or be silent forever)

Unfortunately she had no idea if getting a wand and doing a tracking spell would really help her find the little professor but she was confident in her abilities as an imperial mage, one doesn't get a confirmed kill count of more than three digits by mere luck or chance. No, she was Ace of Aces, the Rhine Devil , the White Silver. She who won over mud, snow and desert; for her, finding a missing teacher would be as easy as stole a candy for a baby.

With that mentality in mind , Tanya began to walk towards a scrawny-looking man when she had to dodge a bearded giant who almost ran her over. She got a little annoyed that the giant didn't seem to notice her at all.

Sighing, she watched as the giant and a black-haired boy who followed him walked away up the street. Tanya recognized them as those in the leaky cauldron who were making noise. At that moment she was able to get a better look at the black haired boy who had been buried by the crowd in the pub, however apart from the circular glasses and a strange scar on his forehead he didn't look very peculiar. On the other hand, he also seemed to be of the age to enter Hogwarts so maybe he was looking for his supplies together with his father... His father...

Tanya took a second look at the giant who was walking with the boy. Was that his father? Tanya swallowed deeply. Was that giant his father? The boy didn't seem scared or too nervous so she assumed it wasn't a kidnapping... 'No, wait a second Tanya, remember that there is magic in this world, the boy might be under a spell or something like that...' Tanya sighed. Even if it really were like that, could she do something? Wouldn't it backfire on her to intervene in such a situation? She could perform very limited magic with her current limitations and if it ended up in a melee battle, well, Tanya gave a light laugh thinking about how many spatulas it would take to get every bit of her body off the ground, and if it really was sorcery what, what was stopping him from putting it on her too?

On second thought, if the giant wasn't his father, surely it was a close relative or a trusted friend of the family, yes, without a doubt, nothing bad was happening in front of her eyes. With a slight sigh of resignation Tanya apologized in her mind to the boy and made a note in a corner of her mind to seek protections against mental manipulation the sooner the better.

So, Tanya walked up to the scrawny man in front of her and asked where she could buy a wand, the very nice man bought her a couple of candies and offered to guide her. Although Tanya resented being treated like a child a bit, she followed the man through a dark alleyway where she met Lucius Malfoy again.

Tanya greeted him lightly.

"Mr. Malfoy I didn't expect to see you again so soon."

Lucius's expressionless face flicker for just a millisecond however Tanya's sharp eyes took notice.

"What a surprise Miss Smith, of all places I never expected to meet you at the entrance to Knocturn Alley." Malfoy glanced at the man accompanying Tanya slightly before turning his cold eyes back to Tanya . "But tell me, how did you end up here after receiving my funding?"

Tanya pointed a finger at the man accompanying her. "This kind gentleman offered to guide me to a wand seller."

Malfoy 's gaze turned colder than usual as he fixed it on the man. "You, Miss Smit , are doubtless someone whit some death luck to meet Mr. Borgin leisurely down Diagon Alley."

The Mr. Borgin in question cleared his throat. "I was simply curious to see Mr. Potter when this kind lady approached me asking for instructions."

Lucius chuckled. "I see, well Miss Smith I wish you good luck and I hope to see you in good condition when you are at Hogwarts. I don't like wasting money on unsuccessful investments."

After saying those words Lucius continued on his way.

Tanya felt somewhat uncomfortable with how mystical Mr. Malfoy acted, she could only hope that the rest of the wizards with power would not act so theatrically, she did not like grown men acting as if they were the villains of some children's movie. Pushing such thoughts aside, however, Tanya smiled.

"Isn't Mr. Malfoy a very good person?" She asked to the air.

Borgin gave a contemptuous laugh. "Undoubtedly. someone very charitable and humanitarian."

Tanya noticed the wry tone in his voice. Turning around, Tanya gave him a cold look that made Borgin shudder. "Mr. Borgin, while it is completely natural to feel jealous of someone of Mr. Malfoy's caliber, I hope you understand that you should not mock my benefactor in my presence."

Borgin gave a dry laugh as he realized why Malfoy had set his eyes on this girl, moreover, Borgin was beginning to believe that she was not a delusional who had ignorantly followed him to Knocturn Alley. Was she the daughter of a Death Eater? A bastard daughter of Malfoy maybe? However why did Malfoy ... Oh...

Perhaps she was in fact a bastard daughter and her last name was not Malfoy because of some family drama, a drama as big as having a Muggle mother. That was interesting without a doubt; however Borgin lacked the information to confirm his hypothesis or to generate a new one. The owner of Borgin & Bruke seemed to assume that Tanya approached him knowing that he worked in a store related to the dark arts. She mentioned looking for a wand, didn't she? But why not go with Olivander? Any wand she got from Knocturn Alley would be of much lower quality. She definitely knew what she was doing by going to Knocturn Alley ... Right?

In that case, what was she looking for from the dark arts?

Was she looking for something less... Legal? More experimental and less secure? If that was the case then Borgin thought he knew the right person.

Walking down Knocturn Alley side by side in relative silence, Borgin seemed wary of this 'bastard daughter' of Malfoy, if she was indeed a bastard daughter he wasn't sure what Malfoy's intention was with her, but the words he left him earlier made him think that "He doesn't like to waste money on unsuccessful investments." It implied that any harm to Tanya would put him in a bad mood.

Finally they both arrived in front of one of the many mysterious-looking shops in the alley, Tanya looked at everything with a cold face, this part of Diagon alley, or rather 'Knocturn' was much closer to the idea that she had of wizardry First of all: Shrunken heads, human bones, giant spiders, and many other unsightly things were to be found here, but somehow this darker side of magic surprised her much less than the bright, magical side of Diagon Alley. Let's say that in a way it's like coming back home to those unpleasant trenches, however unlike that this was at least a lot more comfortable. Somehow this darkness seemed to embrace her instead of being a beast trying to devour her. Still, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable in this place. As much as the trenches were home to the Rhinedevil, Tanya hated them for everything they were and the only thing that kept her going was her coffee and those she enjoyed it with, her battalion. With a sigh Tanya pushed aside the bad memories of the end of the war as she ushered Borgin into the lighted room.

It had been so long since Tanya had a coffee...

Tanya 's mouth twisted bitterly. Talking about coffee always reminded her of her assistant and reminded her that he was no longer with her.

Forcing herself to focus on anything else Tanya glanced over the store, it was indeed creepy as hell; there was a purple carpet covering the floor, several shelves that made the store feel much smaller and claustrophobic than it actually was, in it multiple mysterious objects caught her eye but out of all of them one book caught her attention.

"The Destruction and Protection of the Mind"

It was made of dark leather and did not appear to be authored but it was somethig she would want to buy without any doubt.

Next to it there was another book.

"142 Wandless Hexes"

And finally a dark cover book at the end of all of them.

"Horcruxes"

With a sigh Tanya felt the need for money more and more. Borgin by her side noticed her look and mocked. "Why are you always so stubborn with love?"

Tanya at that moment realized that the book to the right of "Horcruxes" was: "soul binding ritual for the staunchest lovers"

Tanya clicked her tongue.

"Then, can I buy a wand here?"

As if to answer his question an old hag appeared from the back room.

Her face was wrinkled and her back was hunched but still hunched she was about 10 centimeters taller than Borgin, a black robe covered her entire body and a hat adorned with cat skulls adorned her head, her red eyes fixed on the little Tanya while what was trying to be a kind smile settled on her face, however the remains of evil in the smile did not go unnoticed of Tanya.

The old woman with a soft and mysteriously seductive tone leaned to the side as she reached behind the counter.

"Borgin, it is unusual for you to bring a customer to my shop, especially when we are such old rivals." The old woman's smile grew bigger. "To all this, have you already managed to remove the curse from your cousin? The poor thing seemed to suffer a lot with all the orifices on his face exchanged between them, eating through the nose must not be fun at all."

Borgin ignored the old woman as she slowly arranged ten rectangular boxes on the counter. The old woman's eyes rested on Tanya again .

"And you're a naughty little girl to come looking for a wand in my shop, hee hee heh ,and you must be pretty crazy too. You're about to get into Hogwarts aren't you? Do you want to become a little dark lord? hee hee hee..." The old woman opened one of the boxes and offered the wand to Tanya. "Welcome to Ye Olde Curiosity Shop future dark lady, would your malignancy be so kind as to test the wand?" Tanya clicked her tongue visibly annoyed at the old woman's attitude when she suddenly realized that the old woman's predatory smile was not just any smile, no, it was a smile that she knew quite well because she was sure that she had put it more than once in their lives: a salesman's smile in front of an idiot customer he could easily rip off. Unfortunately for the old lady, Tanya knew how to deal with this type of person.

Ignoring the offer from the old Tanya , she peeked over to the wands on the table and peered at them. "Are these the only wands you have?"

The witch looked at Tanya carefully and said. "These are the best I have."

Tanya contemptuously took a tree branch from one of the boxes and waved it lightly like it was garbage.

"So you took a walk in the park and you call it a wand? If this is or better than you have then I'll have to find a better shop down the alley."

The old woman reassessed Tanya with her gaze for a moment before reaching over and pulling another five boxes from behind the counter.

"hee hee hee, a little dark lady without a doubt, hee hee hee..."

When Tanya started to see the wands she was suddenly shocked.
Taking one of them, a short but stout wand made of Maple wood with a skull carved on the handle, Tanya infused a bit of mana into it confirming her theory. "This bitch was keeping the dual-core wands from me!"

Suddenly Tanya felt how her magic began to get out of control inside the wand so she canceled the operation before it got went down, surprised without a doubt, Tanta left the wand in the box.

She then took the second wand, this time the wand was a little longer and seemed to be made of bone, Tanya noted that the nature of the wand was completely different from the previous one.
After infusing a little more mana she twisted her mouth and put it back in the box preparing to take another one, one that seemed to be covered in metal however this was not metal at all.

This time the wand caused a small explosion in front of Tanya 's face before she set it down on the table.

The old woman looked at Tanya curiously. "Hee hee hee, are you sure you know what you're doing little one? Any damage to my store will come out of your pocket, and if you can't pay there are always payment methods... Alternatives hee hee hee ..." Tanya clicked her tongue again, without a doubt she did not want to get into the world of magical credits.

With a bitter face, Tanya took another wand, this time it was a bit thicker than the previous one and somewhat curved, made of dark oak wood and with several runes engraved along it. As soon as she had started putting magic into the wand she gave up and put it back on the table. Then I look at the last remaining wand with evil eyes. This was the last one left with two cores and unlike the previous ones with rather extravagant aspects, this one was straight, of a monotonous black color, slightly larger than the previous one, reaching 10 inch in length. Taking it in her hand was slightly more reassuring than the previous ones but after letting some mana flow through her Tanya could only let out a desperate sigh.

"Old hag, all the wands you have are faulty!" Tanya practically bark her complaints to the witch.

The saleswoman for her part only smiled mockingly. "These wands are not for everyone, someone like you could never release a single spell from one of them huu huu huu."

Tanya's face twisted a bit more before she forced herself to sigh and think for a second, then in a cold, calculating voice she said. "And then, what do you give me if I can cast a spell with this wand?"

The witch seemed slightly confused, Tanya waved her hand slightly. "Let's make a bet, if I manage to perform a spell with this wand I'll keep it for free."

The witch smiled again. "What if I win?"

Tanya answered immediately. "I'll pay double the price for the wand."

The Old Woman put a hand to her chin thoughtfully. "If you lose you will buy the five wands at double price."

"If I lose I will buy the five wands at normal price." Offered Tanya.

The witch leaned slightly over Tanya watching her carefully.

"If you lose you will take the five at half price and you will become a frequent customer."

"... Huh?"

The white-haired witch extended a hand towards the little girl. Tanya 's mind on her side had had a little trouble reacting. This was good, right? There had to be a trap though, damn it was almost certainly a trap... Or was this just an advanced customer acquisition tactic.
Hell, if I hadn't seen how crazy the wizarding world is she would even suspect that this might be a way to get rid of illegal items all at once. However it was Tanya who proposed the bet in the first place and if she lost they got a discount... Still this felt wrong. Looking at the witch's hand Tanya said:

"Can we put this in paper?"

The witch pouted as she signed at the bottom of a contract of just over 3 pages.

Mr. Borgin was also pouting as he signed as a witness, and Tanya anxiously reviewed the terms of the contract as she signed as well.

After seeing that all was well she began making three copies by hand before Borgin stopped her and did so with a wave of his wand.

Tanya thanked him lightly and gave each of them a copy. The witch growled in annoyance. "You already have your damn confirmation on paper, are you done wasting my time?"

Without saying a word Tanya took the simple black wand.

Then she concentrated and tried to push the magic detection formula through the wand. Contorting her face at seeing how the core didn't react as she wanted, she began to make small adjustments to the formula before finishing the spell.

Then Tanya smiled, she thought she had found the clue of little Professor Flitwitch . Smiling triumphantly Tanya turned to the witch.

"And good? What are you waiting for? I don't see that you have performed any spell. Have you already given up? hee hee hee..."

Tanya's jaw almost dropped in surprise before she cleared her throat and tried to push a different formula into the wand, one that would cause more noticeable effects to her surroundings. So Tanya chose one of her favorites, an optical illusion.

Doing something like this with a dual-core computing gem would be a piece of cake in the empire, but perhaps simplicity was an art unto itself as drawing mana through this strange tool seemed to reject her the more control she tried to force upon it.

It proved to be an even more irritating experience than dealing with stupid superiors. Her frustration was so high that she felt her grip getting stronger and how she began to lose control over her magic due to her emotions.

With a grunt of concentration Tanya performed the illusion spell.

Suddenly, where the little 11-year-old girl dressed in ordinary muggle clothes Tanya Smith used to be, now stood a 16-year-old slightly taller than Tanya with several scars on her face, missing her right arm, and a patch on her left eye in an old military uniform.

Borgin gave an admiring whistle as he lightly applauded.

Then like smoke on the wind the illusion dissipated leaving a panting Tanya behind. Tanya 's sharp eyes locked on the white-haired witch; the witch for her part raised a hand to her head and took off her hat.

"I have never seen so much talent in my life. May I ask your name, future dark lady?"

With a self- satisfied smile Tanya answered. " Tanya Smith, and I'll probably be back to buy something else here after this wand so I'd like to know her name as well."

The witch laughed wickedly. "I'm Ye Olde little girl and without a doubt you're going to come back to my store, hee hee hee, you haven't cast a wand spell after all."

Tanya frowned. "What do you mean by that? Are you blind?"

Ye laughed harder than before. "Without a doubt, your magic is incredible, so incredible that you didn't use the wand to perform the spell, what's more, you didn't even move it since you started playing with your magic."

Tanya seemed somewhat furious now. "Of course I used the wand! Without her I would not have performed the spell."

The old woman moved her index finger from side to side. "You wrote it yourself, didn't you? Look, here, paragraph eight 'Use of the wand' blah blah blah blah blah , here, 'The spell must come out of the wand for the bet to stand' girl, the magic you used wasn't a spell to begin with, it looked more like a hex to me. On the other hand, although you used the wand as an aid, you didn't cast the spell with the wand, unless you cast a spell now. I win."

Tanya looked at Borgin who with a monotone said. "You wrote it yourself."

Tanya frowned as she looked at her bag of money. "How much did these wands cost again?"

"15 Gold Galleons each but you are buying them all from me at a discount so a total of 38 Gold Galleons."

Clicking her tongue, Tanya asked Borgin. "Would you be willing to mortgage me a couple of wands?"

Borgin smiled and said. "7 Gold Galleons per wand and the price for storage is 1 Galleon per month."

"Storage price? Storage price?!" Tanya sighed. "And would you buy me the wands for?"

"3 galleons each."

Tanya clicked her tongue, if she sold them all the money would barely be enough to pay the price, let alone her school supplies, on the other hand, if she mortgaged them, she could keep a wand and keep the balance she had before the help from Malfoy which would allow her to buy the books for the school... This was undoubtedly the fault of being X.

Flitwitch the little professor had screwed up to the bottom, the girl in his care Tanya , had slipped through the crowd and yet he... He had been distracted to find the boy who survived entering Olivander. Flitwitch must have guessed it when he saw Hagrid in the leaky cauldron, The Boy Who Lived! Harry Potter.

Chatting with Hagrid and Harry really was a refreshing experience for the poor teacher who helped him get rid of all his worries, besides, the rarity of Harry's wand made his hair stand on end. Who would say that it would be a wand made with the same phoenix feather as the dark lord's wand?

If there are coincidences in life, Flitwitch doubted that this was out of one of them.

However, he was once again faced with the dilemma of finding the girl who had escaped him. The little professed had searched everywhere for her so far and was actually quite worried but with the end of the dark lord he couldn't think of many things that could endanger Miss Smith in Diagon Alley. Even so, it was his duty as a teacher to ensure the well-being of the future Hogwarts student .

So far he had asked everyone in the alley if they had seen her, a girl with short ruby hair and silvery blue eyes would certainly be memorable, and in fact he thought he had found her when someone told him they had seen her, unfortunately it was only the son of Lucius Malfoy. It was shortly after that that he met Hagrid and that was how he ended up at Olivander's .

However, at that moment the door of the shop opened and a blonde girl with dead eyes entered... Flitwitch didn't recognize her at first because the bright eyes of the girl who saw magic for the first time were replaced by those of a an adult tired of life, yet there was a mysterious flame of determination in his gaze, a fire that burned almost religiously. " Damn you being X, damn you being X, damn you being X..." Flitwitch wondered what had happened in the last 40 minutes?

"Tanya ! I finally find you! Where have you been?"

Tanya looked at the teacher with ice-cold eyes for a moment before sighing and taking a slightly more relaxed stance.

"I finally find you professor, I got the student loan from Gringotts so we can buy the school supplies now, do you have the list?"

Flitwitch nodded as he took it out of his pocket.

"There are a good amount of books that you can use second hand in Hogwarts , the only thing that we are going to have to buy are a couple of books, a cauldron for potions and a wa-Ah!-nd" While Flitwitch spoke, Tanya passed the bag of money to the professor, causing him to jump in surprise. "Wait, there are galleons missing here! What happened to them?"

Tanya sighed heavily. "While I was looking for you, a couple of thugs scammed me."

Flitwitch raised a pair of hands to his head. "but this... How?... We have to report this! Who would say that there are people scamming young people in Diagon Alley? Do you remember their faces?"

Tanya screwed up her face slightly in discomfort. "Unfortunately, no."

Flitwitch gave a little sigh of suffering and patted Tanya on the back. "Well, don't get discouraged, you know what, let me pay you for the wand, okay? Consider it a housewarming gift."

Tanya nodded, she already had a wand hidden in her pants pocket, the only one she didn't mortgage, but if she got a second one maybe she could resell it later to pay the mortgage and storage cost.

At that moment Hagrid approached the pair. "Ah, so this is the little Tanya I was talking about, she's certainly smaller than I thought."

Tanya flinched slightly at the giant but stood looming in his place. 'It looks bigger from close' she thought as she stepped back to see the giant's face. 'If he is an acquaintance of Mr. Flitwitch then I misinterpret things earlier' at that moment Tanya looked around the store, finding with her gaze the black-haired boy she thought was being kidnapped and a sickly-looking man with dark eyes. warm. 'That kid with the scar is probably an orphan like me, so this giant must be a Hogwarts professor , there seems to be all kinds of professors, though I suppose if I had a professor as tall as a lamppost accompanying me I wouldn't have gotten lost so easily. Still why there were so many people surrounding the boy at the bar? No matter how I look at him, he seems like a normal kid to me.'

Tanya gave a small curtsy to the giant. "Tanya Smith sir, I imagine that you are also accompanying someone to buy their supplies?"

Hagrid waved a hand at Tanya's bow . "You don't have to be so formal, I'm Hagrid, the Hogwarts forest ranger, me and Harry just bought a wand."

As he said that the giant extended a huge hand, Tanya shook his hand and was shaken in a salute that left her dizzy.

"I hope selecting your wand doesn't take as long as it did Harry."

Tanya chuckled slightly. "I can't promise anything but I'm sure I'll choose a good wand."

Olivander moved closer to the conversation as he heard the subject of wands come up.

"Miss, the magician does not choose the wand, it's the wand who chooses to the magician." Olivander made a small bow as he introduced himself. "Olivander, wandmaker at your service."

Tanya thought for a moment if in fact all wizards with some age behind them had a tendency to act in a mystical and unnatural way. Maybe Flitwitch would one day act like that when her hair turned white, a smile slipping across her face as that funny image flashed through her mind. Ignoring Olivander 's words he took a step forward.

"So, can we see the wands?"

Author's note.

Well, sorry for taking a month to update, anyway, we just watched a tutorial on how not to start in the world of Harry Potter being one of the main points... Do not enter Knocturn alley if you are a first year for love of God. And speaking of Knocturn alley , I got a little creative because apart from Borgin & Brukes I didn't find much info about the shops in Knocturn alley .

I also wanted to finish the topic of more wands in this chapter but it got a little long and my motivation ran out today so just slightly correct it and post it.

Anyway, I hope I can get to Hogwarts (or at least the train) in the next chapter and also, don't forget to complain loudly if you want Flitwitch to become Flitwick !
