Taking down a Spartan wasn't easy. One needed either high explosives, combined firepower or another stronger Spartan to take down. In order to take down a Spartan on the level of the Master Chief, one needed more than weapons, skills and firepower. They needed luck greater than his. The only problem with this, is that no one had luck greater than John 117 as he barrelled his way though the command and control station getting the attention of the Imperial forces as they turned to focus on him.
Moving from cover to cover, John fired bursts from his assault rifle at the enemy troopers combined with aa couple of grenades to push them back. He needed to get to a nearby hanger and secure it for reinforcements. But it wasn't easy as the Imperial forces were throwing both their most elite soldiers and marines at him to try and slow him down. But it wasn't as effective as the Imperials may like. While it was slowing him down. It was marginal and forced them to divert attention from the other intruders on the base.
For John, he was having a though time in trying to break though. While he was getting information from Cortana and Dana, it wasn't much nor did it allow him to find a good way to break though the Imperials. But they were also diverting forces to deal with the Federation ODST intruders. This was chaos, but that was something that they could work with. An idea popped into John's mind as he checked his map and compared it to the room in front of him. With an amused grunt, he came out of ever and unloaded his assault rifle into the marines blocking his way.
They scarred and tried to take him down, but John quickly moved to his side arm and fired taking out the Sargent and comms specialist. After sliding into cover, he rolled a grenade to them as they focused their fire on him, not seeing the green explosive rolling next to them. It detonated taking them out. Moving out of cover, John then finished the marines off before moving to the door controls and hacked them so that no one could get in.
With that done, he looked around and smiled inwardly. He found himself in a substation that gave him access to a number of sections of the station. Moving the centre of the room, he typed something in and got a map of the station. Looking at it, he only had access to part of the station. Running though a couple of idea's, he hit his comms.
"Captain Laskey, do you read?" he asked.
"Loud and clear Chief," the captain responded.
"I've gained partial temporary access to the C and C station. I can disable part of the defences allowing for boarding action. Can you get the Infinity in closer?" as he began to access sections were ODST's were getting trapped.
"I can get in a few thousand kilometres close, but not close enough to make a difference. If you can take out more of the point defence weapons, or get them to target the Imperial ships that will even the odds," Laskey replied in an apologetic tone.
John did a quick scan of the access he had, looking though his options. "I'll send the ODST on the station to the command stations and see if they can…" he tried to say, but Dana interrupted.
"I apologise, but we have gained control over two of the six mac platforms," she said. "They have already begun to target Imperial cruisers and destroyers. They can support the Infinity coming in close,"
"I'm more worried about the other four," Laskey muttered. "What's their situation?"
"Chaotic at best," Cortana chipped in. "Only one of the four has their MAC gun still operation,"
"That's better than nothing," Laskey said. "Ok plotting a route. We'll get there soon,"
"John, link me up to the system. me and Dana will see if we can keep your access up," Cortana added.
"Understood," John said before switching the channel. "Linda, Fred what's your situation?" he asked while linking Cortana and Dana to the system.
"Missed my target," Fred responded. "But I'm working on mounting an assault on the Hive base. Still trying to find all of the soldiers that landed,"
"I'm on one of the MAC guns," Linda said. "It's slow going but I am working with local forces to take the defenders out,"
"Understood, good luck both of you," he said before cutting the comm and looking at the station map, he had a lot to do.
OOOOO
Six ground her teeth as she saw what Wild Dog had done with the ODST team who she had sent in to try and secure the area. But it archived nothing as they were cut down that's to that weapon arm of his. While not new, combat prosthetics were rare as they required a lot of maintenance and specialised skills, tools and more in order to be made. But given that Wild Dog had a weapons company and merc company, it wasn't much of a surprise that it allowed him to develop prototype and expensive weapons.
This man, this creature, who Six thought was dead, had come back to be another thorn in her side. That pissed her off more than anything as not dying was like an insult to her. Every one she had killed, had the decency to stay dead. This guy clearly didn't with a growl, she double checked where he was. Taking a deep breath, she smiled as she saw that he was still in the main MAC fire control centre. That meant he had nowhere to run, but if his aim was to take the MAC gun down that would only go in their favour.
Six's eyes widened as she realised that he could destroy the station with her and all of her forces. Was that his plan?
"FUCK!" she yelled and slammed he first on the console, denting it. "How is that fucker still alive? He died in an explosion!"
Several ODST and Spartans looked to her, but did nothing outside of backing up. An enraged Spartan wasn't good for one's health, especially if you were close. Taking several breaths, six slowed her heart rate and clamed down as she looked at the image again and replayed it. She did this several times before she found what she looking for. She pulled herself up and looked to one of the higher ranked Spartans.
"You're in change," she said before leaving without another word.
Six grabbed her battle rifle and ran down the corridors at full speed, only stopping on occasion to let a door open before moving though. As she ran, she ran though scenarios in her head about what to do. She had an idea, but it needed refining before she could work it. Granted there were a few moving parts, but when facing against another Spartan, even with the young IV's one needed to be careful. Super soldiers were super for a reason, that being their power. Both in terms of armour and strength. They couldn't be underestimated, even if they were weren't in green armour and called John.
She slowed down as she reached the core of the platform. Making a quick check of her weapon, she moved to the door and entered the core, battle rifle up. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around, focused, looking for her target. Moving slowly, she looking for him. She didn't have to look for lock, as several impacts on her shields forced her into cover. As they recharged, she looked up to see Wild Dog standing on the platform in the middle of the room. He didn't use his weaponised prosthetic, but a pistol.
"You annoying little fly," he said as he lowered the weapon. "I'm surprised you are still alive,"
"That makes two of us," she said before popping out of cover and firing a burst at him.
It did little other than impacting his shield and getting into cover. That allowed her to move to another set of cover and ready herself. She needed to get higher at get him to use that weapon of his. Weaponized prosthetics weren't widely used due to how specialised they were, but also de to the fact that they had more moving parts and weighed more. While Wild Dog's arm was most likely caseless, like the SMG, it still had enough weight to make it problematic to wield even for a Spartan.
In fact, being a Spartan wasn't even a solution or part of the problem. This was due to the fact on how the prosthetic was attached. The attachment point was effectively 'glued' to the person's body with a type of gel, similar to biofoam, but more permanent. It allowed for metal to be attached without affecting the person's health due to an infection thanks to an open wound. But this came at a price. Normally, the join point would be on the shoulder, that way there was little risk in the join or prosthetic to come off to due excess weight.
With this in mind, Six hoped that Wild Dog chose the high ground to lessen the risk of his weapon coming off. With that in mind she looked around and found a nice route up with plenty of cover. After firing another burst at the merch, she jumped onto a terminal and climbed up. But her peaceful move didn't last long as Wild Dog fired at her with his machine gun arm. Cursing, she climbed faster and managed to get into cover, but not without Wild Dog managing to pop her shields and hit her a couple of times in the leg.
"Trying to get higher?" he asked as his gun stopped firing.
Taking a peek, Six saw him change out a clip on the side. She missed how many rounds he fired, but smiled at the fact he couldn't fire for long.
"Something like that," she said as she broke into a limping run firing burst after burst at him manging to take down his shields.
The two exchanged fire at each other, but doing little outside of wasting ammo and popping each other's shields. Six tumbled into cover with a grunt holding onto her leg. Running though her diagnostics, she cursed. The rounds he was using weren't just caseless, they were armour piercing and four them had ripped through her leg. That meant she couldn't move without making it worse.
Popping out of cover, she fired at the merc again. This time she managed to pop his shields and hit him in the gut. But he also managed to get her in the shoulder and chest. He didn't hit anything major, but it did hurt like hell. The worst part? She underestimated him, either that or she was too confident with her plan. Either way, she needed to find a way out of this.
"OVER THERE! OPEN FIRE!" a voice yelled and Six pulled up to look.
To her surprise, a platoon of ODST's backed up with four Spartans had entered the chamber and began to fire at Wild Dog. The merc fired back as he took cover. Away from Six's position and the platoon that came in. One of the Spartans climbed up to her location and crouched next to her.
She laughed as she saw who it was. "Thought I couldn't do it alone?" she asked.
The Spartan who she had put in charge shrugged. "You looked as if you were on the war path. Which is dangerous, even for a Spartan,"
Six nodded. "Careful, he likes his…" she tried to say but was cut off by a series of explosions in the room. "Shit we need to move!" but then looked out of a window and saw it wasn't just the room, but the entire station. "EVERYONE GET OFF STATION DELTA NOW!" she yelled into a comms.
