Brann had worked out his entire battle plane perfectly. He and his minions would attack from the valley entrance. At the same time, his knights would attack with the navy, six nightmare class warships. Luna and her forces were informed about Brann's troop movements and told to plan accordingly. He found minimal resistance when he initially marched into the valley. His wolf and spider riders were so effective that the reds barely got a shot off half the time.
"Ah, it's nice to be out in foreign parts, killing the locals. That's the thing about vacations; getting there is half the fun!"
"Honestly, Gnarl. I've stalked the deck so heavily in my favor that I dought that this will be all that fun. Like putting a bleeding animal out of its misery."
"You say that like killing something helpless and weak isn't funny!" Brann rolled his eyes at Gnarl's comment and continued to slaughter imperials. He found very little sport in it, as all of the experienced commanders were sent to die in an ambush a few days prior. When he got to the only real obstacle in his path, the gates were opened for him by the infiltrators he sent in. He could see his ships sailing in, firing rockets at the meager defenses before landing troops. The first knight to step foot on imperial Everlight was Sindra. Using a rocket launcher, she took out half a formation of heavy troops before finishing the rest off with her sward. At about the same time, empire soldiers were less charging and more running from the elven ghetto. Luna was at the head of a great force of elves and various monsters. The young queen was an army in and of herself, firing ice shards into the heads and torsos of the enemy.
"I hope we arrived on time. Your forces seemed to have secured the beach. We will focus our efforts on the jungle surrounding the town."
"Sounds like a plan. Meet me at the town hall when you are convinced that no empire scum managed to escape into the jungle." Luna nodded and charged off with her forces. With their combined efforts, it only took them a few hours to secure the town and its people. Brann walked into the town hall and addressed the mind slave that was once the governess.
"You have done well in handing this place over to me on a silver platter. Your reward is that you get to keep your job, but answer to me rather than the empire."
"Your thanks is the only reword I need, master!" The groveling slave said as she got onto her knees before Brann. A short time after that, Luna came to the town hall, as well as queen Fay herself. Brann gave the glowing tramp a smug grin, though it was hard to see with his helmet on.
"Well, well, it looks like we met again after all. You should know that my patience with your childish attitude is only because Luna and my father have a history. Any further acts of aggression from this point onward will be met in kind."
"Your threats mean nothing to me, Scourge of Nature! I am the one tolerating your vile presence, so don't dare to test me further."
"I'm so glad that you two are so friendly already." Luna said in a deadpan tone as she pulled a chair up for her and Fay. The moment all of them were sat down at the table, Brann made his offer.
"Here is the deal. You girls can have all of Everlight, except for the jungle surrounding both the town and the spider temple. I'm even willing to have all Netherworld and minion gates removed from your lands if needed. In exchange, we will have an official alliance. Free trade between our peoples and joint military operation against the empire is the minimum required for this to work."
"And what could your wicked forces produce that we would at all be interested in?" Fay scoffed as she crossed her arms, glaring down Brann as she did so.
"Minion empowered Durium, Arcainium to, but that will be much more expensive."
"That is a precious resource. But what of the elvin slaves you have in your forges and growing fields? You can understand that we would have a vested interest in freeing our people from the yoke of tyranny." Luna pointed out in an, at least pretending to be, polite manner.
"You can buy them back. I will need those capable of growing magic to help maintain the greenhouses I have set up in Nordberg. Agree to that, and your people will be freed." Fay then levitated out of her chair, looking very pissed off.
"I will not barter for my own people like they were produce! Luna, if we engage him together, we could kill him now and be done with it!"
"Come down, Fay! Given the circumstances, he is being mostly reasonable." Luna said as she got up to stand between Fay and Brann.
"So just because he is pretending to be civil, we should just trust every word he says? No Luna! There can be no compromise with the forces of evil!"
"I would just like to point out that I'm not the one threatening to kill you. Just because I think you're a pompous sow, who would doom your entire civilization just to maintain the illusion of the moral high ground."
"SHUT UP, YOU'RE NOT HELPING!" Luna shouted at Brann as she maintained her stance of keeping the two of them apart.
"Luna, my army is ready and waiting to charge in. We can, and should, destroy this vile despoiler while he is vulnerable!"
"If you order an attack on the Overlords forces... Then I will be forced to side with him against you." Brann was almost as shocked as Fay was to hear Luna say that. All eyes on the room were focused on her as she stood her ground.
"Luna... You can't be serious! He is, literally, evil incarnate! How dare you side with the forces of evil over your ow-"
"THIS IS NOT ABOUT GOOD AND EVIL! EVERYTHING OF MAGIC IS UNDER THREAT OF EXTERMINATION! MAYBE YOU CAN SIT IN YOUR BURNING HOUSE AND CONTENTLY WATCH AS EVERYONE YOU SUPPOSEDLY CARE ABOUT GETS KILLED, BUT I CAN'T! I REFUSE TO DO NOTHING COWERING IN THE CORNER AS MY WORLD FALLS APART AROUND ME AGAIN!" Luna screamed, the entire room started frosting over, her skin became ghostly pale as her eyes became jet black, glaring at Fay.
"Very well. It is clear to me that you are incapable of seeing the folly of your actions, so you leave me no choice. You are banished from the realms of good, any who would call you queen over me share that fate as well. Now, go with your new master and leave this sacred place!"
"Actually, you do not have the authority to do that." Brann chose this moment to rise from his chair and walk around to face the sparkly blue bitch.
"What game do you play, monster?"
"No game, just reminding you that Everlight belongs to me. We didn't get around to changing custody of the realm before you started going off on this psychopathic tirade."
"This land belongs to the forces of good, you arrogant little-" Sindra then reminded everyone that she was in the room by leaping off of the table and kicking Fay in the gut. She sent the fairy queen tumbling to the floor like a sack of potatoes.
"You got some fucking nerves accusing people of being arrogant, princess." Before she could kick Fay in the teeth, the queen sent her flying with a blast of magic. Brann was officially done being nice, as he charged in, ax heald high and ready to kill. She tried to blast him too, but he was fast enough to send a beam of magical energy at her as well. The magic beam battle was not going in Brann's favor, and would have been overwhelmed if Luna did not step in. Fay was much more powerful than Brann thought, she was able to hold off both him and Luna in a beam battle.
"Fuck this shit!" Brann then threw his ax at Fay, forcing her to break off the beam fight long enough for Luna to blast her through the wall. Brann willed his minions to swarm in, but Fay held them back with a whirlwind around herself.
"You will pay for choosing evil over good, Luna. I tried to save you from this. But what happens next is on your head!" Fay disappeared in a flash of blue light, leaving a somewhat awkward situation.
"So... Should we get back to negotiations?"
"I have to go get my people out of the Last Sanctuary before Fay murders them for being associated with me."
"Fucking hell! You really think she is that far off the deep end?"
"I think she is an irrational fanatic, more so than I ever could have imagined. Have a good day Brann." Luna then vanished in a flash of blue like Fay did, leaving Brann in the rubble of his new town hall.
"I really have to learn how to teleport. It would save me an ass tone of time." Brann then wandered off, willing his minions to clean up while he got some real work done.
