So, I had intended the story to mainly follow the OC, Amy. And Bill. But it kinda follows Dipper a lot lol. Anyways, you'll see a lot of Dipper's own personal journal entries about what's been going on. They'll fill you in on his personal thoughts on things as well as some stuff that occurs outside of chapters.

Dipper and Mabel ended up sharing the downstairs bedroom as it just so happened to have two twin-sized beds in it. Amy told them that it was intended to be a guest room but that she never actually had guests. Meanwhile, their great uncles each claimed a room upstairs.

Dipper found that the room reminded him a lot of their old shared room back at the Mystery Shack, except it was bigger and the ceiling was not pointed upwards. This room also had yet to be decorated by his sister and her colorful drawings. Some things never change…

He closed the door behind him and locked it, testing to make sure that it was locked before dragging his suitcase over to the bed at the far end of the room. Without bothering to unpack anything yet, he hopped into the bed and retrieved his journal from within his vest. As Mabel unpacked her things by the other bed, Dipper took out a pen and began drawing and writing in his journal.

May 31st

This is crazy! It's only our first day back in Gravity Falls and already something completely insane has happened! BILL is back! I thought we erased that guy! Okay, okay. Relax Dipper. I should explain…

So, instead of staying at the Shack this summer (because Soos' abuela is…hard to live with) great uncle Ford called up an old friend and she agreed to let us stay with her. I say old, but she's only in her twenties. Apparently, Ford knew her when she was little or something. Her name is Amy.

First, Amy… Her real name is Amaranth, but she likes to be called Amy for short. She's a really pretty lady with green eyes and long wavey auburn hair. Dresses pretty casually (red shirt and blue jeans). She lives in an old farmhouse in a big clearing in the woods and raises sheep. There's also some chickens and a small planting field. Ford says that she's not much of a people person and likes to keep to herself, but she seems nice enough so far. Except for the fact that she released Bill! In a way…

Apparently, after we (thought we) erased him, he turned into a petrified statue or something and was trapped inside it with no way out. No way, except for "someone like Amy", whatever that means. Amy's dog, Bud, led her to him in the woods one day and when she touched the statue, she was magically transported inside of her own mind where he could talk to her. Not the weirdest thing I've ever heard, so I could believe that. From what she told us Bill was pretty desperate to get her to make a deal with him so he could get out of there. So desperate, in fact, that he even offered to be her personal servant while he recovers his powers. To think he would have to stoop so low… He really was desperate. Ha! Not only that, but he even told her that she can call the deal off whenever she wants. Even for no reason! I don't know why, but she agreed!

Not sure what Bill meant when he kept saying "someone like her". He even mentioned that she has some kind of magic powers or something and that she's only HALF human. What else is she? She looks all human to me. Then again, Bill's new form looks like a human too… More on that in a bit. Weirdly, Ford seemed to be the only one of us that wasn't surprised or even confused about Amy being only half human.

So, who, or what, is Amy? What are these powers she supposedly has? Why did she agree to that deal with Bill? I have so many questions and zero answers! But, it's only the first day. We just got here. Ford says that we should stick around to keep an eye on things and figure it all out. I agree, but I'm pretty worried.

Bill… For whatever reason, Bill needs "someone like Amy" to hang around and sap magic/power from so he can restore himself. He said that, because of Amy's powers, he's able to take a temporary physical form, but I guess he doesn't have enough power restored yet to do anything because he's still here with Amy and he hasn't tried to kill us…yet. Amy mentioned something about his powers having "spurts" or glitches. That's probably because of what we did to him. That jerk had it coming! He seems to follow Amy everywhere. Maybe he has to stay near her to actually absorb her power? That would make sense…

His new look: Said he had to take a "weaker" and "simpler" form for now, so he looks like a human. A tall, handsome man that appears to be around Amy's age (I guess immortals don't show age much). Only one eye (I think). The other side is covered by an eyepatch and long blond bangs. Wears an open yellow tailcoat over a white shirt. Black pants, black gloves, and black suede shoes. Still has his bowtie and hat. Something about this form is almost worse…

I hope Amy knows what she's doing, because I sure don't! I also hope I don't get murdered in my sleep. Or at all… If there is no entry tomorrow, you'll know why.

Dipper groaned and rolled over in his bed, letting out a startled yelp as he fell out of the bed and landed face-first onto the hardwood floor. He laid there like that for a minute, his legs tangled up in the sheets, before he pushed himself up with a grunt and rubbed his eyes.

"Good morning!" Mabel said cheerily. "How was your first night in a strange new place we've never been?"

"It took me forever to actually fall asleep," he replied. "I kept thinking Bill was going to come murder us in the night. How are you so cheerful and okay with this situation?"

"Aw, we've beaten that meanie before! Besides, Amy can call off the deal and send him back into a statue whenever she wants, right?"

"Yeah, but –"

"Look, I've gotten pretty good at reading people. I get a really good vibe from Amy. She's totally nice. She's on our side. I just know it!"

"Well, she hasn't proven otherwise yet, so… Still, I just don't get why, you know?"

Mabel shrugged. "Maybe she felt bad for him?" She sniffed at the air. "Breakfast!"

That was a terrible reason, he thought. There must be more to it. He got to his feet and followed her out into the hall and over to the kitchen. Amy was sitting at the table with Stan and had just handed him a newspaper when Mabel threw herself into a chair and started serving herself pancakes from the stack at the table's center. Amy stared in surprise and slowly pushed a jug of orange juice over towards the girl.

"Thanks," Mabel said between a mouthful of food.

"Y-Yeah…"

Dipper took a seat at the table and, much more calmly, began to serve himself pancakes and some of the fruit sitting in a bowl nearby. "Did you guys eat already?"

"Mm-hm," Stan hummed as he turned a page.

"Yes," Amy replied. "I wake up early, eat, then let the sheep out."

"Did you kids sleep well?" Stan asked.

"Not really," Dipper told him.

"I did," Mabel said. "I slept great!"

"Well, that makes one of us," Stan laughed.

Amy stood up and pushed in her chair. "I've got chores to do. When you're done eating, just put your dishes in the dishwasher."

Mabel was first to finish but she hung around and waited for her brother before putting their dishes away and gesturing for him to follow her out the front door.

Across the property, just south of the sheep pen, they found Amy leading a gray ox that was pulling a plow across some small fields. Not far away, Bill was laying on a hammock with his legs crossed and arms folded behind his head. Bud was laying on top, across Bill's abdomen, and enjoying the shade of the trees. Both had their eyes closed, but Bud was the only one who was actually asleep. As they got closer, they noticed Amy was singing quietly to herself as she worked.

"You can sing, too?" Mabel asked excitedly as they approached.

Amy looked a tad startled. "Oh, um, yeah… I mean, I guess so." She supposed she should make conversation. "Did you…enjoy breakfast?"

"Heck yeah we did! Did you make it yourself?"

She nodded and watched the younger girl walk over to the ox.

"And who is this handsome guy?"

"Bruno."

The ox snorted as it sniffed at Mabel, letting out a huff of hot air that ruffled the girl's hair. She giggled and patted Bruno on the head. "Did you name all of the sheep, too?"

"Sure," Amy shrugged, "but I have twenty sheep. Soon to be twenty-one once Mary-Beth has her baby. Their names are on the tags hanging from their ears."

Mabel became excited at the idea of a baby animal.

Dipper glanced over at Bill lounging on the hammock. "Your deal is that he'll do whatever you tell him, right? Why don't you just make him do your chores?"

"I've been doing things myself for a long time. Just used to it, I guess. Besides," she muttered, "he might 'accidentally' set something on fire. Anyways, I'm not one to ask for much from others."

"Soooo… Mind if I ask some questions?"

She sighed and began to lead the ox again. "Well, you already are, so why not?"

"When Bill said 'someone like you', what did he mean exactly? Do you really have magic? What kind?"

"Someone like me," Amy echoed quietly.

"Are you a wizard?" Mabel asked. "Or a witch?"

"No. But I do have magic. I'd rather not explain it right now. But, as for him needing someone like me, well, a human just wouldn't work for what he needs. Nor would any weaker, magical creature."

"But you're half human," Dipper said. "Right? And the other half?"

"Maybe another time."

"Okay, okay. Well, when did you actually encounter Bill?"

She thought for a moment. "The year before last. I was in Australia. At the end of fall, I came back to check on things and pick up Bud. So, around that time. Towards the end of spring, we left for Africa."

"Did you see lions?" Mabel asked.

"Yeah. Bill tried to get them to eat some tourists. They were okay though. …Physically."

"I thought he couldn't leave Gravity Falls," Dipper thought aloud.

"That's probably something to do with my powers." Amy began to scatter seeds into the tilled soil.

"How have you not gone insane living with him for so long?"

"I don't think I can really consider myself sane in the first place. But I'm used to weird things happening around me. Especially in this town. You're Ford's great nephew and niece, right? I didn't even know that guy had any family…"

"Great uncle Ford said you guys met when you were young," Mabel said.

"Yeah. He lived alone in that place now called the Mystery Shack. Said he was researching the town and its weirdness."

"Wait," Dipper said. He suddenly realized something. "Ford said you're in your early twenties, but he got sent out of this dimension over thirty years ago. How did you guys meet? How old were you? How old are you?"

"Twenty-two," Amy replied simply. "But technically I've been alive a little longer than that."

"What?" He was so confused. "You're some kind of, I don't know, immortal being, or -?"

A faint smirk crossed her lips. "Some other time. Hey, did either of you notice that tiny locked door in the corner of the living room?"

"What tiny locked door?"

"There's a cute little door in the corner of the living room, just a couple of feet off the ground. It's called a fairy door, and it leads to a different realm. Another dimension, if you will."

"The fairy realm," Mabel said dreamily.

Amy shook her head a little. "It's called the Myth Realm, and it's the birthplace of magic and most magical creatures. Maybe if you can get there, you'll figure out the answers to some of those questions. In the meantime, why don't you two help me with some chores?"

"Sure." They both nodded.

"Okay. I'm going to finish up here then take Bruno back into the barn. I need one of you to go collect eggs from the chicken coop. The other can feed Flower."

"You mean the monster in your basement?" Dipper raised an eyebrow. "You feed it?"

"If we don't, she tries to leave the basement. Trust me. You don't want that."

"I call eggs!" Mabel ran off back towards the coop.

"All right," Amy looked to Dipper. "You can feed Flower. Unless you're afraid to. It doesn't matter. I can do it after."

He puffed out his chest. "Who said I was afraid? What do I have to do, just throw some food down there?"

She smirked. "Yes. There's raw beef defrosting in the fridge. Just throw that down there and remember to close and lock the door after."

"No problem. Sounds easy enough."

He went back to the house and made his way into the kitchen and opened the fridge. There was a large piece of meat sitting on a plate inside. Not wanting to touch it, he rummaged around through a few drawers around the kitchen before finding a pair of cooking tongs and using it to pick up the meat and carry it down the hall to the basement door.

"Okay," he breathed. "Just open the door, throw it in, then close the door. Simple as that… No problem."

"You forgot 'lock the door'."

He yelped and spun around at the sound of the voice, finding Bill towering over him. "Ah! I-I mean! What do you want?"

"Nothing," he replied and leaned back a little. "Just came to make sure you remembered to lock the door after. You don't want Flower to get out."

Dipper eyed him suspiciously. "That's all you're doing?"

He shrugged. "You gonna do it or do I have to?"

He glared at the man before huffing and turning back to the door. He unlocked the door then twisted the doorknob, slowly pulling the door open to reveal the steps leading down into pitch blackness. "Talk about creepy basements," Dipper muttered before tossing the raw meat into the darkness. It only took moments for something down there to snarl and attack the food. "Sheesh. It definitely sounds like a bear." He turned around just in time to see Bill roughly kick him down the stairs.

Bill listened to him fall then smiled at the shout accompanied by angry snarling and other frightening sounds before he slammed the door shut and locked it. He dusted his hands off and whistled as he made his way towards the living room.

The wall that separated the living room and the kitchen was actually one big fish tank, and Amy had just come inside and was standing on a stepstool and tossing food into the tank. She peered over to look at Bill as he passed. He usually only whistled like that after he had done something bad.

"Hello, Amy." He stopped to look up at her with a smile.

She narrowed her eyes a little. "What's with that smirk? What did you do?"

As soon as she asked, she heard screaming and banging coming from the door down the hall. Startled, she tried to get down from the stepstool a little too quickly and lost her balance, but Bill lightly snatched her up by the wrist and stood her up in one quick motion. Without pausing, Amy hurried down the hall and opened the basement door. Dipper flopped onto the hall floor; his clothes were torn and he was covered in bites and scratches.

He could barely get any words out. "Dark – bear – claws! HIM!" He pointed at Bill watching from the other end of the hall. "You threw me in the basement with that thing!"

"I didn't throw you in there," he told him. "I kicked you."

"Bill!" Amy shot him a glare.

He only shrugged and walked away.

Amy carefully helped Dipper up to his feet and led him into the living room to sit on the couch. "Hold on." She disappeared back into the hall then returned shortly after with first aid. The boy sat with a scowl as she began to treat the cuts.

"Whoa," Mabel said as she entered the house. She had a basket full of eggs and feathers poking out of her hair. "What happened to you?"

"He fell in the basement," Amy told her.

"I did not fall! Bill kicked me!"

"Oh," Mabel smirked. "So, you met Flower?"

"What do you think all of this is!?" He held his arms out to show her the cuts. "And why are you covered in feathers?"

"I may have had a run-in with the rooster. No big deal." She coughed out a feather.

Dipper sighed then winced as Amy dabbed a cut on his knee. "Amy, how are you still in one piece living with him?"

"Bill? He doesn't do anything to hurt me. He never really has. Well, not on purpose. Remember how I mentioned his powers have glitches? Yeah, well, when that happens, weird stuff happens without him even realizing at first. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised my toaster didn't try to eat you when you fell down in the basement."

"Huh?!"

"Well, my old toaster, I mean. I had to get a new one that doesn't eat my other appliances. Anyways, the worst he really does to me is talk too much, but I've gotten used to that. He sure likes to talk… Normally, he complains and fusses at me for doing things that might get me hurt. Like when I climb trees."

"Really?"

"You climb trees?" Mabel asked.

Amy stood up and placed her hands on her hips. "There we go. All patched up and infection free. Probably." She looked over at Mabel. "Yeah. There are these old oaks deeper into the woods. They're huge and their branches grew together, making this shady canopy. The branches are so close and woven together that you can run across the tops of the trees. It's fun to freak all the birds out."

Mabel smiled excitedly. "I want to do that! Can you show us? Please?"

"Mm… I guess. But if you fall and hurt yourself and your uncles ask, I was never there and I never mentioned it. Ever."

"Yes ma'am!"

Dipper got up to follow them out of the house. As they stepped down from the porch, Bud stood up and hobbled after them, wagging his tail when Dipper looked at him.

"Bud likes you," Amy told him. "He's old but he makes a pretty good guard dog."

"Really? Because he seems to like Bill too, so his judgement can't be that great."

She chuckled. "You could be right. Come on. It's this way."

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Dipper asked after a while as he followed the two girls through the forest.

"I never said it was," Amy replied. "Here we are." She stretched out her arms at the trees before them. Many of the trees were thick and tall with moss covering their bases. Their thick branches loomed overhead tangling together, allowing only small shafts of light to break through. The shade made the area feel much cooler and gave off a very different vibe than the rest of the forest. "Are you climbing, too?" Amy asked Dipper who was staring into the woods.

"Huh? Me? Oh, uh, no. I'm good."

"Okay," she said. "Then stay with Bud, otherwise you'll get lost here. He's got a great nose." She poked the dog's big wet nose before turning to see Mabel already climbing up one of the trees. "Be careful," she laughed.

Dipper watched them disappear into the leaves then turned back to the quiet forest. "Ready for some exploring?" Bud barked happily, his long tail swishing back and forth. He liked the idea of exploring with a canine companion. The dog's constant sniffing made him feel like they were detectives or something searching for clues or treasure. "I wonder why this part of the forest looks like this," he mused aloud. "It must be really old." A few leaves and blades of long grass appeared to move as something whispered. "Did you hear that?" Bud whimpered in response then looked up as birds took off noisily from above. They could hear Amy and Mabel laughing in the treetops.

"Rawr!" Mabel held up her hands and shouted causing several small birds to shoot out of the nearby leaves. "Did you see that!?" She pointed and called to Amy.

Amy laughed as she walked quickly along intertwining branches being careful not to trip on small twigs and knots. "Your voice is echoing up here," she laughed. "All the birds for miles will hear you coming!"

Mabel was jumping from branch to branch pretending to be a squirrel. As she landed on one, her foot caught between two limbs and she fell forward with a yelp.

Dipper and Bud jumped in surprise at the shout and looked up to see Mabel hanging upside-down from the canopy. She spat out leaves and grinned. "I'm okay!"

Amy climbed down to where the girl's foot was stuck and examined it with a smirk. "Nice, that's exactly what I did the first time I did this."

"What are you doing?"

Dipper and Bud turned at the annoyed voice. Bud barked and approached Bill.

"Man, you show up out of nowhere," Dipper muttered.

Amy was sitting on the branch near where Mabel's foot was caught. She shrugged. "You know, just hanging around." Mabel snickered at Amy's response. Amy forcefully pulled the two branches apart. Before she could say anything, Mabel was trying to pull her foot free. "Wait, don't—"

Her foot suddenly came free and she fell with a thud into some bushes below. After a few moments she called out, "I'm okay! Again."

"You left your shoe behind." Amy tossed the shoe down but before it hit the ground Bud snatched it midair.

"Hey!" Mabel hopped after the dog. "I need that!"

"Amy!" Bill ignored the girl and dog running in circles around him. "Get down!" Amy narrowed her green eyes and smirked before taking off through the tree branches. "Amy!" His annoyed shout was followed by a series of Bud's barking as the dog dropped the shoe and took off after his master.

"No, Bud wait!" Dipper tried to call the dog back to no avail. "Dang it! We'll get lost if we don't keep up!"

"Then let's go!" Mabel had slipped her shoe back on and ran after the dog with her brother close behind.

Amy was defiant by nature; it came from her mother's side. She loved to tease Bill, but she never went so far as to enrage him. She smiled at the sound of her dog barking after her and stopped for a moment to look around. She looked up at a nearby mountain covered in old trees. The mountain had been there forever but no one ever climbed that particular one, of course, she knew why, but it still intrigued her.

Amy was lost in thought when the tree she stood on suddenly began to shake and swayed back in a strange way that caused her to lose her balance and fall. She shouted in surprise more than fear and gasped when Bill caught her. It took her a moment to get over the shock before she relaxed and crossed her arms. "That's not fair," she huffed.

"Pfft," he rolled his eye and set her on her feet. "Fair, schmair. You shouldn't have been standing in a tree." He shrugged nonchalantly.

Mabel had caught up before Dipper who leaned against a tree, panting. "Aw man, I really need to… exercise more." Mabel laughed at him, and Bud went over and licked at the boy's face. He broke away from the dog and watched as Bill and Amy argued over her being in the treetops. Neither of them really sounded angry but one was definitely more serious than the other. "What's it to you if she climbs trees and runs across them?" Dipper asked. "It's not like you'd care if she got hurt."

Bill shot the boy an annoyed look. "I need her alive. She could've broken her neck. You humans are too sensitive."

Amy rolled her eyes.

"Couldn't you just find someone else like Amy? Whoever or whatever she is?"

"You ask too many questions that I don't want to answer," Bill stated bluntly before turning around sharply and staring into the dark forest.

Amy was also staring in the same direction. The twins tried to locate what they were looking at or what they might have heard, but they couldn't see or hear anything. It was eerily silent all of a sudden, and they began to feel uncomfortable at their silent staring.

"What are you guys looking at?" Mabel was the first to break the silence.

Bill continued to silently stare but Amy quickly turned back to them at Mabel's question. "I… thought I heard something," she said after a moment then glanced at Bill. "Did you?"

His eye didn't look away but he turned his head slightly in her direction. "You didn't hear anything," he said quietly. It was rare for him to speak in such a hushed tone.

Suddenly, the silence was gone, carried away by a soft breeze and the chirping of birds. The eerie feeling had lifted and was replaced by a feeling of serenity. "Well, that was weird," Mabel chuckled awkwardly.

Amy nodded. "This area is…" Bill shot her a glance that she didn't notice. "Special," she finished. "Let's get back. It's time for lunch." Bud barked loudly at the proclamation of food.

June 1st

We spent some time with Amy today. She's pretty cool. She told us about a tiny door in the house called a fairy door. I'll have to check it out later. Mabel and I helped her out with some chores, and, of course, Mabel got the easy part. She just had to collect eggs while I had to go feed the monster in the basement…Flower. Really, all I had to do was throw the food down there. Sounds easy, right? Well, it would be if BILL wasn't around! The jerk kicked me down the stairs and locked me in the basement with that THING! I got mauled by it and I STILL don't know what it actually looks like. Amy says it's just a bear-sized badger, but I don't know… Thankfully, Amy let me out and patched me up. She really is nice.

I don't know how she's managed to live with Bill for so long and not either lose her mind or lose a limb… But she told us that he never really tries to do anything to her. I guess it makes sense, since he needs her. And if he ticked her off or something, she could end the deal, so he must not want to push her. Actually, he seems to be pretty nice to her. Considering his situation, I would've thought he'd be pricklier and more short-tempered, but they actually seem to get along. Weird…

Bud seems to like Bill, but dogs like anyone that pet them and give them table scraps. Which is exactly what Bill does when Amy's not looking. (She fusses if anyone feeds him people food) Meanwhile, the only thing I've seen Bill eat so far is blueberries. Apparently, he likes them because they're "unpredictable". By that, he's talking about how the same batch can have a fruit that is sweet while the next one is super sour and the next tastes like nothing. Whatever, man…

After Amy saved me from the basement, she showed us this place in the woods that we've never seen. The trees there must have been super old. They were huge and growing moss on their trunks. The branches were all tangled together into a canopy that let sunlight in through shafts, keeping the area cool and dark. It looked neat, but it was pretty easy to get lost. Good thing I had that old bloodhound with me. Meanwhile, Amy and Mabel climbed the trees and started scaring the birds away. Mabel got her foot stuck pretty quickly though and ended up hanging upside-down from the canopy until Amy freed her and she fell into a bush. (Gotta remember not to mention that around Ford and Stan)

Bill showed up out of nowhere and starting fussing at Amy for climbing trees. They bickered a little about it like an old married couple. It was actually kind of funny. Then, there was this weird presence all of a sudden and everything got quiet. Bill and Amy were both staring off into the woods at something. Not sure what. After though, they acted like nothing even happened! What was that about? Felt like something was watching us…

Note to self: Keep out of arms reach (and kicking range) of Bill.

To be continued…
