Chapter 2: Ignorance

Present Time - POV: Nya

Even though we failed to capture people like Lord Ras and Jordana, things have been quite calm around here after the battle with Imperium. Cole is out there doing his own stuff, but Jay is nowhere to be found.

What if he doesn't come? What if something happened to him?

For years after the merge, I have tried to ignore these thoughts. I know it won't solve anything, but I had just found Lloyd a few months ago, and it took 5 years for me to find Lloyd, Kai, Zane, and Cole. Maybe Jay's just a little lost? It wouldn't be the first time.

I keep telling myself that. Keep telling myself that he's probably out there doing signature Jay stuff and that he'll come back safe and sound with stupid stories as to how he was lost for such a long time.

I've been ignoring it for a long time now, 5 years, to be exact. I realize now that my 'hopeful' ignorance has probably cost Jay his life–

No. Don't think like that. He's strong–

And he has probably been doing the reasonable and responsible thing by looking for his Yang, unlike you.

It was only when that voice rang in my head that I realized I was starting to panic. I quickly made my way to the monastery's 'secret' base and used the microphone connected to speakers put all throughout the monastery to gather the team.

It was obvious that everyone had sensed the small hint of panic in my voice heard in the speaker; they all either had worried expressions on their faces or looked startled.

"Is something wrong, Nya?", my brother asked after an uncomfortable silence.

I thought for a moment. The urge to keep pretending like nothing's wrong kept me quiet.

No. You've ignored it enough already.

"I was just…"

"I'm worried about Jay. He should've been back by now." Before I could stop myself, however, every thought just came blurting out of my mouth.

"It's been too long, I mean I know Wu and Pixal and the other elemental masters are still missing, but I just can't help but think something's wrong. We already found each other and Cole, and it's just– something must have happened to him. What if he's been captured by Ras, or maybe he's lost in some unknown land and is starving, or maybe he just can't go on and I haven't done anything to look for him–"

"Nya, calm down," Lloyd cut me from my spiraling thoughts. "I've actually been thinking about it too, and I think some of us should stay here in the monastery in case there are any suspicious activities that need to be handled, while the others start looking for Jay. When we find him, we'll start looking for Wu and the others, too. It's time we got the team back together."

I looked around to see hopeful, determined smiles and nods of approval.

Don't get so happy now. You've ignored his absence for years. If you find him hurt or dead, you'll know whose fault it is.
