My apologies for the late update. An unexpected situation happened in which my laptop developed a problem and subsequently CRASHED, and though I was able to save my files, the fanfics that I last saved were corrupted, and while the fanfics I've typed were among those saved, 50% of the progress was affected, hence I had to restart working on the chapters, hence I was unable to meet the deadline which the next update was supposed to be the last week of March.

So now I'm working on the next chapters and if this fic gets a review, I will have the next update ready. Now that I finished my explanation…time to get down to business…

Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here, the current story arc is underway, as Uraraka and the others are set to qualify in the tournament, where something unexpected is about to take place…which might put them in a risky predicament…

Well then, read on and enjoy!

Ch. 35: Budō tōnamento part 7

The audience are shown to be getting excited and anxious as the ring announcer spoke via the microphone that the eight fighters that are remaining in the ring are the ones to advance in the next round, and the ring announcer further said that the remaining eight will advanced towards the Quarter-Finals, and announced the names of the final eight, which are:

- Lightning Max

- Snake Fist Sneck

- Bakuzan

- Suiryu

- Ochako Uraraka

- Katsuki Bakugo

- Eijiro Kirishima

- Itsuka Kendo

The audiences were quite surprised to hear this as every year the participants consists of mostly adults, and for the first time teenagers are now amongst the final eight, and on top of that, most of the participants are from UA Academy, and some of the audiences are wondering if any of the UA Academy students would make it to the semifinals and the finals given that Quirks are not allowed in this tournament.

"Wow…"

"Now that's a first…"

"Students from UA Academy..."

"But…Quirks are not allowed…"

"Oh boy…they're up against strong fighters…"

"But this is interesting…"

"Think those kids could pull it off…?"

"That's something I got to see…"

Meanwhile, the three Class 1-A members and Kendo were surprised to see that Ojiro was eliminated and learned that Suiryu is the one who eliminated him, and this caused Kendo and Uraraka to become more determined to give their all and make it to the Semi-Finals and Finals, and vowed to defeat Suiryu in a fair fight as they would not let him have his way with the two girls whom he tried to flirt earlier.

Bakugo and Kirishima glanced at Suiryu and there the two boys told each other to look out for Suiryu, seeing that he is someone not to be taken lightly after seeing how Ojiro was hurt after being eliminated, and this made Bakugo feel pumped up as he sensed that he has found someone challenging.

"Bakugo…better be on the lookout…that guy just eliminated Ojiro…"

"Heh…now this is interesting…"

"Better not get carried away, Bakugo...I got a feeling that he's more than…"

"Whatever. It make things interesting. At least I can use my knuckles instead of my Quirk."

"Whoa, whoa…"

"You should get pumped up as well, Kirishima. You're a man, right? You like challenges, so that guy is…"

"You got a point…yeah, I can take him on…"

"Heh…now I'm looking forward…"

An intermission is held and the participants are led to a huge tent to rest for now as the quarterfinals is being prepared, and as the four UA Academy students are bracing themselves for the upcoming matches, Suiryu came and casually attempted to flirt with Uraraka and Kendo, but the two girls turned him down, saying that they were here for a reason and flirting with guys is not on their agenda, and the two girls told him to find someone else he could hit with.

Suiryu smiled as he wasn't daunted and persisted in trying to woo the two girls, and seeing that the two girls are really getting irritated at Suiryu for his uncalled antics, Kirishima came to his schoolmates' aid and told Suiryu to leave them alone, and Suiryu assumed that Kirishima is trying to impress the two girls and told the younger boy to FALL IN LINE, reasoning that he was here first but Kirishima told Suiryu that his antics are distracting the girls and Kirishima made it clear that Uraraka and Kendo are his schoolmates and nothing more.

Suiryu raised an eyebrow and asked if that is an excuse or not, saying that what he just heard is a very cheap alibi, and Uraraka is pissed at this that she almost lost her cool and is about to confront Suiryu but Kendo held her back, telling her to ignore him and not give in to his whims and all.

"Easy, Uraraka…"

"But…"

"Just ignore him…"

"…"

"We'll get payback in a few minutes from now…"

"…fine…"

"Good."

"…"

Two of the participants, Lightning Max and Snakefist Snek, saw this, and while the latter felt that he should just ignore it, the former is unwilling as he feels that Suiryu is almost bordering on harassment due to constantly trying to get to the two girls' nerves and Snek asked Max if he is serious about this, which Max said he is as he can't just sit and watch, as he sensed that an untoward incident might escalate if no one would make Suiryu stop his foolishness.

"I think we should just ignore it, Max..."

"And let an untoward incident erupt?"

"…"

"Besides…we're pro heroes…so we should quell off something that might lead to a conflict…"

"You can't be serious…"

"I am. If a disturbance takes place, this tournament might end up getting cancelled…and we lose our chance to win the prize money."

"Tch…"

"…"

Max's apprehension is realized as Bakugo stood up and approached Suiryu, telling him to leave Kendo and Uraraka alone, saying that his two schoolmates are here for a personal reason and nothing more, and they're not here to do something STUPID, but Suiryu sees this as someone wanting to earn points for the girls and tells Bakugo to try another way to flirt with the two girls as Suiryu stated that he WAS HERE FIRST and he would be the first to WOO them and told Bakugo to head for Shibuya as there are other girls there, especially GYARU ones.

Bakugo got pissed and seemingly forget the rules as he opened his palms and is poised to use his Quirk but Kirishima held him back and reminded him that using Quirks is against the rules and urged him not to get riled by Suiryu's foolishness and tells him that once he and Suiryu are in the ring he can beat him up all he wants as long as they comply with the tournament rules.

"Easy, Bakugo…"

"Grr…"

"Don't let him rile you up…"

"Grr…"

"You'll get your chance…for now let's tow with the rules…"

"Grr…"

"Now simmer down…remember why we came here…"

"Grr…"

Likewise, Kendo and Uraraka told Bakugo to be patient, and said that once either Kendo or Uraraka are facing Suiryu, they would get their chance to make him pay for the harassment he made, and reminded them that as UA Academy students, they shouldn't lose their cool over someone like Suiryu, which Bakugo is forced to relent upon hearing his schoolmates' urging.

"Hmph."

"Good."

"That's a good sport."

"Whatever."

"Don't worry. That guy will eat his words…"

"And he'll think twice before hitting another girl…"

"Fine."

"Okay then…"

"Its settled…"

By then Lighting Max approached Suiryu and sternly told Suiryu to leave the teenagers alone, saying that there is a time for flirting later but right now the two girls want to concentrate on the upcoming matches and tells him that he would risk making enemies if he continued this foolishness, and said that both Uraraka and Kendo are not interested in Suiryu himself.

Suiryu stared in disbelief, but seeing that the two girls are glaring at him, and along with the fact that a pro hero is confronting him, Suiryu reluctantly relented and went to a corner, leaving the UA Academy students alone for the time being.

Max asked the two girls if they are okay now, and both Kendo and Uraraka thanked him, but he said that it is okay and reminded them of the rules where Quirks are not allowed in this tournament, and said that the upcoming matches won't be easy, as he discreetly told the teens that he heard that Suiryu is a very skilled fighter, especially after seeing him eliminate a lot of qualifiers earlier, as well as he managed to eliminate Ojiro.

"Thanks for the advice…"

"But we'll be fine."

"Really?"

"Yeah. We're okay now."

"We appreciate it. "

"If you say so."

"Thanks."

"Thanks."

Seeing how confident the four UA Academy students are, Max just nodded and wished them luck as he went back to the corner and Snek asked if he really had to encourage the teenagers, and Max nodded, saying that he sees nothing wrong in giving encouragement as showing good sportsmanship is a good thing, especially after seeing that the four teens are not arrogant and are downright polite to a degree.

Snek sighed and told Max that it is likely that he would be eliminated in the quarterfinals if he is paired against either Suiryu or any of the UA Academy students, though Max said he wouldn't mind as long as he is defeated fair and square and not through underhanded tactics.

"Are you serious, Max?"

"Yeah."

"For real? There's a possibility that you would get eliminated this early."

"Its fine."

"You don't seem to mind it…"

"Don't worry. I take things in stride."

"You sure?"

"Yeah, sure."

Sighing, Snek just rolled his eyes and the two pro heroes await the call from the tournament officials as they are expecting that the quarterfinals to begin soon, and once the match starts, there is no turning back, and Snek told Max that should they be facing in either the quarterfinals, semifinals or the finals, it's every man for himself, and Max nodded, saying that he won't be holding back and neither should Snek.

A tournament official came and told the eight participants to head for the ring, saying that the quarterfinals would begin, and both Bakugo and Kirishima are pumped, while Uraraka and Kendo nodded as they are going to brace themselves as they are about to face off against potential challenges and are expecting an obstacle that stood between them and the grand prize.

Suiryu passed by and winked at Kendo and Uraraka, telling them that should he defeat either of the two girls they would go on a date with him, which Kendo and Uraraka flatly refused even though Suiryu is somewhat persistent in trying to woo the two girls.

"We already told you."

"No means no."

"Oh, you don't have to be."

"We mean it."

"So stop pestering us "

"You don't have to play hard to get…"

"Don't rile us, mister."

"Or you'll regret it."

"Whoa…easy…"

As the eight participants are assembled in the ring, they saw a rather large box is displayed, and one of the tournament sponsors put a hand inside and took out two pieces of paper and gave it to a referee, then repeated the process and after that the referee showed the names to the other tournament officials and after a minute they wrote the names on the whiteboard where there would be four matches in the quarterfinals, and everyone saw who would be facing each other:

- Lightning Max vs. Ochako Uraraka

- Snake Fist Sneck vs. Itsuka Kendo

- Bakuzan vs. Katsuki Bakugo

- Suiryu vs. Eijiro Kirishima

Bakugo seemingly didn't mind it while Kirishima clenched his fists as he gets to square off against Suiryu, as he now gets the chance to shine and teach Suiryu a lesson in humility that he shouldn't hit on girls like what he did earlier, and as both Kendo and Uraraka are relieved that they can at least make it to the semifinals, Suiryu once more remind the two girls that the deal is set, and as the two girls are annoyed, Kirishima sternly told Suiryu to stop harassing the girls, which Suiryu seemingly ignored, and tells the red-haired teen to go to Shibuya and look for girls like how he told Bakugo about it, and the blonde-haired teen got pissed off, threatening to go all-out but his three schoolmates held him back.

"Easy, Bakugo…"

"Grr…"

"Don't let him rile you up…"

"Grr…"

"You'll get your chance…for now let's tow with the rules…"

"Grr…"

"Now simmer down…remember why we came here…"

"Grr…"

To Be Continued...
