Hello. Just wanted to point out that I didn't like Jay getting Realm Reassignment, of all things. So yeah, I'll be changing that. I was actually really annoyed about that because they could've done so much more, like move him to a combat-involved department where he wouldn't look like the weak link of the team, or give him back the role of inventor by giving him an engineering-involved department. But nooooo– REALM REASSIGNMENT. It's got nothing to do with him– Anyways, you'll be seeing some hate about realm reassignment.
OH MY GOD. It took SO long to come up with different departments and their functions in The Administration. I also had to catch up with Dragons Rising season 1 part 2, BUT I GOT THERE. Sorry for the delay!
Chapter 4 - Part 1: What's there not to like?
Present Time - POV: Agent Walker
I sat, or at least tried to, on my couch but I was still slightly hopping from excitement.
Finally, finally, I will leave this boring, unimportant, glue-your-ass-down department!
Yep. I was going to leave Realm Reassignment. How I got stuck with that in the first place is beyond me. Well… ok, I guess there is a reason for this mishap. The Administrator thought that, instead of the managers getting fully dedicated to a specific department, they would switch every few months, and would have to learn everything– and possibly become expert at it– in every single department, including operating it exceptionally. It may sound unreasonable at first thought– that was what I thought too– but after thinking about it it was pretty obvious that it was a way to train managers to one day fill in the spot of The Administrator.
WHOOOO, YEAH.
There is also an explanation as to why I'm SO hyped. More than usual. It's because I'm going to be moving on to the Combat Department. (I'm sure it has a more fancy name, but that's just what it's known as.)
It's. Got. EVERYTHING. Fighting, action, tech, combat, hacking, infiltrating, sneaking around, beating up people– IT'S. THE HYPE. I mean, forget the fact that I'm KILLER at it, you get to beat people up, steal stuff from them, interrogate them, lock them up– I mean– what's there not to like? Not to forget you BLOW stuff up too!
I also get to actually do something, unlike Realm Reassignment. I think– scratch that– I hope people have enough brain cells to look at a skeleton and say 'They belong in the Underworld,' because it's not my job to tell them that. I get that it's my job to make sure things run smoothly, but how can I do that if they didn't properly learn how to work in this department anyway? My job is to come up with new ideas to improve our department, and help out when something gets in the way of our work or when there is actively something wrong with our equipment.
But for now, that's a problem for the next manager, because to hell with it all– I'M MOVING OUT OF THIS DEPARTMENT TOMORROW!
Chapter 4 - Part 2: To Hesitate - no time skip
These are going to be the best few months of the year! I'm going to go to the Combat Division, blow up some walls, and then go to the Engineering Department and invent new weapons that I needed during the few months I spent in the Combat Division! Those two departments are my favorites. Sure, there are others that I like, like gathering ID and personal info, and coding defense systems so that people don't reach that info, but they're the most fun to work in, and I'm the best at those two. There are a total of 5 departments; Realm Reassignment, Combat Division, Engineering Department, Research Unit, and Software Defense.
They do exactly what they sound like. Realm Reassignment 'saves' people from the space bubbles of nothingness and teleports, or rather reassigns them to whichever realm remainings they should be in. The Engineering Department provides the Combat Division with the necessary weapons and tools, with security and technology for the Administration. The Software Defense is filled with skilled coders and hackers who protect our archives from being hacked and accessed while also providing the Combat Division with hackers. The Combat Division deals with enemies and targets, which are informed to them by the Research Unit. The Research Unit gathers info from incidents, unsolved cases, and people involved in them. They also document practically everything about our agents; when they joined, what their role is, what their skills are, even their daily routines and personal relationships! (Overboard, I know.) They provide the Combat Division with their targets and all the information about them so they can do their job of capturing or… eliminating them.
Not that I would hesitate if I was given the order to kill– I rather enjoy finishing the job, not because I'm a maniac who's just out for blood, but because I like the certainty of my enemies not returning. I mean it's not like our enemies care whether we live or die. I like to think of it as only a fair move instead of just carelessly ending a life; we would be at a much bigger disadvantage if we refused to do what it takes to succeed when our enemy is more than willing to. Torture… just isn't my thing. I don't understand it– and I definitely don't enjoy it, but I won't hesitate for a second if I have to– that's why he loves me so much. The Administrator despises people who 'have the audacity to question his orders.' To him, 'hesitation is a sign of wavering loyalty and trust.' If that's what it is to him, then that's what it is to me. I never hesitate.
Then a thought hit me.
Huh, I should probably get rid of the disco lights and video games before the next manager comes.
I'm not sure if Jay should actually kill people on the spot or just cause them to be killed. Feel free to let me know your thoughts about it!
