Ch. 50: Budō tōnamento part 22

The scene shows that the audience members stood up, amazed by the outcome of the finals, as they were in awe at seeing that an UNDERDOG, who many believed that she would be eliminated due to her injured state, would emerge as the winner of the tournament, as she was able to eliminate two remaining competitors despite the painful state she is in, and the fangirls of Suiryu were in total denial at the fact that Suiryu lost to a MERE PIGLET.

"No way! Our beloved Suiryu got defeated by a mere piglet?"

"Damn that piglet!"

Nearly everyone within the stadium, including some pro heroes, are impressed with the outcome and came to admire Uraraka's determination despite the physical situation she was in, and gave her a rousing ovation and cheered her on which somewhat surprised the pro heroes who were in attendance, seeing that Uraraka's patience and determination have paid off.

"Uraraka! Uraraka! Uraraka! Uraraka!"

As Bakugo and Kirishima helped Uraraka up as she is now in pain that she couldn't walk by herself, Ojiro is seen talking to Kendo, discreetly discussing something to her which she nodded, seeing what Ojiro is suggesting something and she nodded, saying that she got things covered and will get to it swiftly as possible, vowing not to let this chance slip by.

"You should use this chance."

"Yeah."

"And you should act immediately."

"Yeah."

"Hurry before everything would be too late."

"Yeah."

"Go on."

"Yeah."

As Suiryu sighed as he failed to win, he just smiled as he felt that there are other opportunities that lie ahead, and there his fangirls cheered on to him, saying that he would remain their NUMBER ONE and requested that he date them, which Suiryu smiled, using his charms to entice the fangirls, who cooed at seeing his PRETTY BOY charms.

"Kkkkkyyyyyaaaahhh~h…!"

However, the rest of the audience members gave a different reaction, telling him that Suiryu deserve to lose because of his dirty tactics and for showing disrespect towards the female competitors, especially the way he did to Kendo and Uraraka earlier, saying that he is a bad model and warned him not to objectify the girls into becoming sex objects.

"Damn you, Suiryu!"

"You're not a good role model!"

"You have no respect for girls!"

"You're not worth respecting!"

"Don't you come closer to my daughter!"

"Do that and I'll kill you!"

"So will I!"

"Yeah!"

Moreover, the irate audience members confronted the fangirls and sternly told them to leave, telling them that they are an embarrassment for supporting a dirty competitor and for insulting Uraraka who showed her true grit and effort in winning the tournament, saying that Uraraka doesn't deserve to be body-shamed and that she showcases a true beauty through hard work and no theatrics.

"Get lost!"

"Leave!"

"Insult Uraraka again and we're going to rough you up."

"And we mean it!"

"Eeep!"

The fangirls sweat-dropped as the angry audience members glared at them and the fangirls were forced to leave the scene. Meanwhile, Kirishima assisted the medics in taking Uraraka towards the makeshift infirmary, where a high-tech x-ray machine is ready to be used and there the lead medic tells Uraraka that they are now going to determine if she busted her ribcage or not.

As Suiryu is ready to leave, as he finds it pointless to stick around and not wanting to have medics patch his HANDSOME FACE, he blinked his eyes as some policemen approached him and tells him that he is being arrested for several charges, which includes:

- acts of lasciviousness

- molestation

- sexual harassment

Suiryu blinked his eyes and said that this is preposterous, and demanded to know who would be crazy to file charges, and there Kendo showed up, and reminded him of what he did earlier in the finals, like groping her and Uraraka's breasts, and pulling her lower garments down in front of the audience.

Suiryu stared wide-eyed as he suddenly recalled that and tried to use alibis to clear himself, but the cops said that even if it is a strategic tactic in the match, his actions are still a crime and reminded him that what he did to Uraraka and Kendo are justified charges, and there the cops tells Suiryu that the tactics he used are now backfiring towards him.

"But…but…"

"Come on, PRETTY BOY..."

"You better face the music…"

"You're entering a new TOURNAMENT…"

"But…but…"

"Now then…"

"You're under arrest…"

"You have the right to remain silent…"

"Anything you say can and will be used against you…"

As the cops put the handcuffs on Suiryu, they took him away, and the third cop tells Kendo to head for the precinct so as to follow procedures and to file charges against Suiryu, which she nodded, and there she tells Ojiro and Kirishima that she is going to the police station to file charges, which the two boys nodded.

"Got to go…"

"Okay."

"Tell Bakugo and Uraraka that I might be late coming back to Heights Alliance..."

"Yeah."

"See you later."

"Okay."

As Ojiro and Kirishima went to Bakugo, they asked him how Uraraka is doing, which the blond-haired boy said that the medics are using state-of-the-art x-ray machine to determine if Uraraka suffered a fractured rib or not, and the results would be available within 10 minutes, which the two boys nodded.

They then told Bakugo that Kendo went to the police station to file charges as Suiryu has been arrested, and Bakugo sneered, saying that Suiryu got what's coming, as he was so desperate that he had to resort to such low blows just to gain an advantage, and now Suiryu is paying the price.

"Hmph. Serves him right."

"Yeah! Suiryu deserve it!"

"That's true "

"He thinks he can get away by saying that his actions are covered by the rules of the tournament…"

"And now he learned this fact the hard way. Now he is not manly anymore!"

"Bakugo, Kirishima…better simmer down…"

"Why not, Tails? It's the truth!"

"Yeah!"

"Well…"

As Suiryu is being led away by the cops, the audience members got the gist, realizing that Kendo was the one who caused this and they commented that it was justified that Suiryu is at fault for groping Uraraka and for committing sexually harassed actions towards Kendo by pulling her lower garments down and exposed her PRIVATE PARTS, and now Suiryu is going to face the charges and expected that there won't be any settlements as both Kendo and Uraraka are determined to file charges.

"Looks like that idiot Suiryu had it coming. Now he's going to face the consequences and see that his foolishness would eat him up. I doubt that anyone would bail him out on this."

"Yeah…"

Mount Lady is seen dancing in joy after seeing that Suiryu is being arrested while Uraraka is proclaimed the champion, and there Kamui Woods and Edge Shot urged her to simmer down as she is attracting unwanted attention, though Hawks said that it is okay since the match ended and all that's left is the awarding ceremony, where aside from the trophy, she would get the prize money.

Mount Lady wondered what Uraraka would do with the prize money, which is said to amount to 500,000 Yen, as she is currently staying at the Heights Alliance dormitory of UA Academy, which Hawks said that Uraraka is going to give it TO CHARITY, which the three pro heroes were slightly surprised when Hawks said that Uraraka is donating ALL OF THE prize money.

"Yup. You heard me. Uraraka is donating all of the prize money."

"What?"

"Seriously?"

"Is she going to give everything away and not have some for herself?"

"Yup. That's why what she is doing is CHARITABLE."

"…"

Actually, through his feathers, Hawks found out that Uraraka participated in the tournament so as to win the prize money and give it to her parents so as to financially support them, and that she won't take a single Yen, which Hawks is impressed and admire Uraraka for the sacrifice she is doing, calling her an exceptional girl who loved her parents and for being considerate.

After about 30 minutes Uraraka came back, only this she is on a wheelchair, and there the medic told the other UA students that while she narrowly escaped getting a fracture injury, her ribcage remained busted and recommended that she avoid any forms of physical activities for a month, which slightly surprised the other UA students.

"Huh?"

"What?"

"Seriously?"

"Yup. Tell your teachers to excuse her for four weeks. Once she heals up then she can resume PE activities."

"…"

"Whoa…"

"Okay…"

"Good."

Soon the awarding ceremony is being held, where the eliminated participants are among the attendants as they came to respect and admire Uraraka for her performance and determination, and as the presenter gave her the trophy and is about to hand her a briefcase containing the prize money, one of the tournament officials came running and in a state of panic, grabbing the briefcase that was about to be handed to Uraraka, which surprised everyone in attendance, including the audiences.

As the presenter asked what is wrong, the tournament official tells the presenter that one of its key people, an entrepreneur who spearheaded the tournament fled with the money that was sponsoring this tournament, which also includes the prize money.

The presenter was baffled until the tournament official opened the briefcase, which the contents were revealed, where it shows that it the same amount of the prize money but a closer look shows that they are counterfeit bills.

Moreover, the official also revealed that the checks that they have turn out to be BOUNCING CHECKS, thus this tournament is bankrupted, and there he revealed that one of the key people of this tournament, identified as Edo Monto, has embezzled over 225 million Yen and fled, thus the tournament organizers now have no means of giving the prize money to Uraraka.

Moreover, the official said that another discovery is made and revealed that the trophy is fake as it is shown that it is made of substandard material, and hence it is worthless.

Ojiro, Kirishima and Bakugo were in a state of disbelief at hearing this revelation, realizing that they were doing this and participated in this tournament for nothing, and they glanced at Uraraka, seeing that she was in shock, as all of her hard work were for nothing, thus she won't have anything to compensate for the injuries she sustained while winning the tournament.

Hearing this, Hawks, Mount Lady, Kamui Woods and Edge Shot approached the organizers of the tournament, revealing themselves as pro heroes and offered to help in addressing the situation. Snakefist Snek and Lightning Max also approached the organizers and also offered their help, and at the same time the three Blizzard Group members came and also offered to help in the matter.

As the pro heroes are gathering information, Bakugo was clenching his fists in annoyance at how careless the organizers are, not noticing that they had been scammed by their key person and now a scandal just erupted, and now the pro heroes are scrambling to find and locate Monto.

He then glanced at his side and saw that Kirishima and Ojiro are consoling Uraraka, was in tears as her hard work she went through was all for naught, and both Kirishima and Ojiro assured to her that everything will be okay.

"Uraraka…"

"Easy, Uraraka…"

"…"

"Its going to be okay…"

"Don't feel down…"

"…"

"Everything will be okay."

"Just calm down…"

"…"

In the days that passed, the tournament debacle was highly sensationalized as it became a trending topic within the news and social media, as the tournament organizers came under heavy criticism for sponsoring a tournament without checking if the prize money is ready or not, and there the organizers revealed that the tournament organization is bankrupted, and filed for bankruptcy, as they now have no financial means to pay the tournament winner.

The pro heroes Hawks, Mount Lady, Kamui Woods and Edge Shot exerted extra efforts in locating the fugitive Monto, and went to all the islands within Japan to try locating him, and the Blizzard Group members also went to known areas where Monto was seen by people who happened to see him frequently visited.

And it took over 96 hours for the pro heroes and authorities to come to a humiliating conclusion: Edo Monto has already fled Japan just days before the tournament, managing to hide the fact that he installed fake prize money and bouncing checks to keep them busy while he secretly embezzled the money from the tournament organization and fled via his private plane and used unscrupulous means to prevent aviation authorities to track his itinerary.

At Heights Alliance, the rest of Class 1-A are comforting a devastated Uraraka, as she still couldn't believe that everything she gone through was all for nothing, as aside from feeling scammed, she was unable to financially help her parents, and both Bakugo, Kirishima and Kendo are pissed at the debacle the tournament organization made.

Okay, this has been a wild ride, as the Martial Arts Tournament arc is probably the longest arc I made, and I was so invested that I really had no idea how long I would make it until reaching the finals, and I hoped that I do not suffer from BURNOUT as I was so focused on that arc that I seem to run out of ideas on what to prepare next once the Martial Arts Tournament arc ends…

Anyhow, hope you liked this chapter, as the tournament story arc ended in a surprising twist…as Suiryu got his comeuppance for the SEXUALLY-charged tactics he used, as Kendo filed charges and thus Suiryu is ruined in the eyes of the Martial Arts aficionados, and Uraraka won and became the tournament champion, only to get an emotional blow as one of the organizers came and revealed that the trophy and the prize money are fake, and this resulted in a scandal that caused everyone to get scammed, and that the tournament organization went bankrupt with no way of paying Uraraka after she won the entire tournament through her hard-earned work.

The ending was inspired by real-life events in 1984-85 when an independent film production and distribution company originally located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA was on the verge of financial collapse, and that one of its key people embezzled over $1 million from that company's bank accounts and vanished, never to be seen again.

I really intend to give this story arc a happy ending but I felt that it might be too cliché, so I decided to replace it with a bittersweet ending to show how sometimes life is harsh.
