A couple of hours later, Brooklyn woke up in a bed in the medic ward of the castle. He felt his head and moaned. Fox perked up at the patient waking up.
"Take it easy, Brooklyn. You are exhausted." Fox declared.
"How... how did I get here? I don't... remember..." Brooklyn was shocked that he was home.
"Demona surprisingly brought you here. She saw you black out in the air, she said. You fell and she caught you in mid-air. You were almost going to land stomach first on a building." Fox explained. "It might have killed your babies had she not caught you."
Brooklyn couldn't believe that she had saved him like that, again. He would figure that she wanted him dead after all he had done to her. But hearing that he was pregnant might have been worth something to her. He hoped she wouldn't try to come after him for his babies, or coming for the babies sometime after they were born.
"She didn't say anything about my babies, did she?" he asked in a worried tone.
"She said to take care of you while you were carrying an egg." Fox replied.
"Well, my kind does typically carry eggs instead of live babies like this." Brooklyn explained. "Anything else?"
"She dropped you off to make sure that we were getting you to the medic ward here to get you hooked up to an iv for the remainder of tonight. Brooklyn, wherever you were, you came back overly exhausted. Demona also saw that you were in pain too, and you were really pale." Fox explained.
"How are my babies?" Brooklyn asked in concern.
"They're fine. Dr. Sato should be here soon for an exam on you. Owen turned into Puck, and he gave a minor check on the babies. He felt they were fine, but you were in distress."
"Yeah, from her."
"Brooklyn, where were you?" Fox asked.
"Fang took me to Staten Island. It was a long flight back. Then I encountered her and tried getting away from her. She wouldn't let up." Brook explained. "I also had a terrible pain in my stomach from running from Fang, and then trying to get away from her."
Brooklyn then looked down at his belly. He saw a bulge under the blanket. He lifted it up and saw his still swollen belly. He put one of his hands on it. He could feel the twins being a little active inside him. It made him feel happy and relieved they were safe.
"What about my clan?" he asked.
"They should be home soon. David called Elisa and she likely called Goliath." Fox replied. "But where is Fang?"
"I think he's dead, but not sure. He fried himself after water splashed on him when I broke a sink. He had taken me to a substation on Staten Island. That's all I know. He wanted to torture me because of how I helped take him down a long time ago." Brook explained. "I got away and just barely managed to take him down."
"I can get that. I feel the same way about protecting Alex." Fox declared.
"Yeah, we both have children to protect." Brooklyn agreed.
Then the door opened, and Dr. Sato appeared. He was rolling the ultrasound machine into the room to examine Brooklyn. "Nice to see you again, Brooklyn. You've had a rather hard night I heard."
"Two nights." Brooklyn replied. He knew he had to expose his belly for the exam.
The doc got near the bed, and he turned on the machine, then he reached for the blanket, pulling it down. He exposed Brooklyn's swollen belly. He had the tube of gel in his hand. He splayed it on the belly. Unlike in the lab, this gel was warm. Brooklyn still had a little flinch from it.
Sato then gelled the wand and put it to Brooklyn's stomach. An image instantly appeared on the screen, getting Brook's attention. "Are you having any pains?" Sato asked.
"I had one more on my right side." Brook replied.
Sato moved the wand to that side. He moved it all over his right side. He saw there was an swollen nerve in there, but the twins were doing fine. He checked them over and their heartbeats. Sato soon turned it off. He gave Brooklyn a towel to try off his belly.
"The babies are fine but there's an irritated nerve in your side. It comes from lying on the right side. It's not good. It should heal in your stone sleep." Sato said. "But from now on, with the weight of the twins in there, if you lay on your side, be better to only lay on the left side." He explained. "It gives better oxygen to the babies."
"So, there's nothing concerning?" Brooklyn asked.
"You obviously need to rest in here for the rest of the night. Get your strength back. Keep the iv in until close to sunrise, then have the others take it out." Sato suggested. "You look alright to me, but you are a little pale."
"I had some food and drinks before gliding across the waters. But it was a long flight home, and my wings cramped a lot. I'm just not used to so much gliding anymore." Brook explained.
"It's one thing for you to exercise, but yeah, not overdoing it is key at this time." Sato instructed.
"I don't try to. It just happened." Brook stated.
"Stay with him until his clan gets home and then they can take over." Sato said to Fox.
"I will. Thank you, Doctor." Fox replied.
Sato left the room but left the sonogram machine in there too in case another exam had to be done.
Brooklyn couldn't help but give his belly a look. He hoped he wouldn't have any more encounters with evil enemies while he was carrying the twins. It was hard enough worrying about if they were going to make it to term inside him. His body was not originally meant for this, but he was carrying them just fine apparently.
He settled down to try to rest and pulled the blanket back up. He still awaited his clan to return soon.
...
The door soon swung open, and the clan came in as they had been notified of Brooklyn's return. He was in the infirmary. Goliath was in the lead. He wanted to have a talk with his pregnant Second. But he saw that the red male was fast asleep when he saw him.
Fox put her hands on him. "Don't wake him up, Goliath. He's exhausted." She declared.
"I need to talk to him." Goliath said.
"We all do." Hudson added.
"And you will when he's well again. He was pushed to his limits tonight on his trying to get home. He's pregnant and needs all the rest he can get right now." Fox explained the need.
"We know he's pregnant, we just want to know where he was." Broadway said.
"Staten Island." Fox stated. "Fang took him there."
"That's a long way away from here for Fang to take him there." Lex declared.
They all were speaking in softer voices. They had some answers now.
"Alright. But he is not to be left alone." Goliath ordered. "When he wakes up, I want to talk to him."
"Don't be too hard on him." Fox instructed as she left.
"Just go out and I'll stay with him first." Goliath ordered.
The clan was happy they could relax now that their missing clan member was home. Technically, it was three members with him expecting twins.
...
Later, Brooklyn woke up and it was explained to them what happened and how Demona had saved his skin, again. Goliath had given Brooklyn a talk, but Brook knew what he meant. He hadn't meant to leave but had to protect the castle. He had also given his doctor's orders for the rest of the night. The iv came out before sunrise by Owen taking it out. Then it was time for sleep.
And in turn, the mutates were told where they could find Fang's body, if he was still in that substation.
