The rays of light from the early dawn broke brightly through the curtains and into Kagura's eyes, which began to flicked as the beams gently kissed her eyelids. She opened her eye just a crack, being partially blinded by the sun's amber light. Kagura sat up fully, stretching her arms out and then rubbing her eyes. Her legs carried her out of her bed and towards the weights in her room. She picked up a 20lb dumbbell and began doing some curls, switching between her right and left arm every 10 curls. She did this about 4 times, then placed the weight back down and went over to where he phone was. There was a one notification: a text message from Sakaki.
"When should we meet up?"
Kagura checked her watch.
7:47am.
"11 works for me."
She sent the text to her friend and slid her phone down into her pocket, making her way towards the door and heading downstairs. Kagura speedily made her way down the stairs and through the halls into the kitchen. She opened the fridge door and pulled out a carton of orange juice and two hard boiled eggs. Closing the fridge door with her shoulder, she placed the juice on the counter and carried the eggs over to the garbage can. Her foot slammed her foot down on the pedal at the based of the garbage can, causing the lid to be flipped open at full force. Kagura peeled the shell off the first egg, than threw the whole thing into her mouth. She chewed it while she peeled the other egg, also throwing it into her mouth. Her foot lifted off the trash pedal, causing the lid to slam down and make a loud "BWAPSH" sound. Once she was down chewing the last egg, she unscrewed the lid on the orange juice carton and began to chug the last of the juice down. "KAGURA!" A voice shouted out from the kitchen doorway. Kagura turned around, almost choking on the juice. "How many times have I told you to stop drinking out of the carton?" Her mother asked irritably, her arms crossed and her eyes staring at the tomboy. She wiped the orange juice from her mouth and answered, saying: "But juice was almost gone."
"Just pick some more up for me today." Her mother commanded the girl. Kagura sighed. "Yes Mom."
After downing the rest of the orange juice, she headed back upstairs to check her phone. There was another text message from Sakaki:
"Alright. I'll see you at 11."
Kagura read the message then put her phone back down, booting up her game console and turning on her TV. She played some video games for a while until around 10:00. After checking her watch, she made it to the nearest checkpoint and saved her game, then powered of the console and began to get ready for their meetup. She went into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, her hair, then went back into her room where she changed her clothes and put on a pair of jeans, a long sleeved shirt, and a yellow jacket. After grabbing her phone from the bookcase next to her bed, she slid the device into her front pocket and then lifted up her pillow. Her hand reached under and pulled a wallet, which she slid down into her other pocket. Kagura walked into the bathroom one more time, making sure she looked halfway decent. She ran her fingers through her hair to straighten it out and then made her way down the stairs, towards the front door. Kagura reached down and slid her shoes on without untying the laces. "DON'T FORGET THE JUICE!" Her mother called out as she opened the front door. "GOT IT, MOM!" Kagura cried back, closing the door behind her. As she began her walk towards the lake, she thought over and over about what she could say to her friend to try and make her open up to her. "I hope this works." She thought to herself. Kagura stopped walking for a moment, and looked up at the sky. She closed her eyes. "Please help me, God. Please help me."
