Chapter 40
***The Next Day***
(At Scott Baldwin's Penthouse, there's a knock at the front door. Franco goes to answer it. He's a little surprised to see Elizabeth)
Franco: "Hi."
Liz: (polite smile) "Hello. I brought the divorce papers."
(Franco raises his eyebrows as he's a little caught off-guard)
Franco: "Wow. Already?"
Liz: "I received them from Diane yesterday."
Franco: "You're going full speed ahead with this."
Liz: "I want the marriage to end so I can officially move on with Jason. I love Jason and the boys and I want to be a family with them. I can't 'officially' be one until you sign the papers."
Franco: "I just want you to know I'll always love you. But I understand your need to get out."
(Elizabeth scoffs incredulously as she places a few strands of hair behind her ears)
Liz: "You love me so much yet lied to me for YEARS about Aiden's paternity? That's not love."
(Franco has a guilty look on his face as he speaks)
Franco: "You're right. There's no excuse. I'm sorry."
Liz: (angrily) "Save your fake apologies. I don't want to hear it." (tilts her head) "What did you get out of not telling me about Aiden's paternity?"
(As Franco gestures, he speaks)
Franco: "I knew that I was going to lose you to Jason if the secret came out."
(Franco shakes his head in defeat)
Franco: "I lost you in the end, anyway."
(Elizabeth points at Franco in fit of rage)
Liz: "Whether Jason is in the picture or not, you should have told me the truth! Even if the truth hurts, he would have still told me! He'd never lie to me! You, on the other hand…ho, ho, ho, ho, you have set a whole new record!" (shrugs) "Sam mentioned Helena was mostly in control of Aiden's paternity secret. That true? Or that another one of Sam's lies?"
Franco: "Helena wanted Nikolas to be the father being he's her grandson. But if it can't be Nikolas, Lucky is the next choice. She just didn't want Jason to be the father. Neither did Sam. So, Helena plotted and paid the lab technician to switch the tests. Sam told the technician what the results would say. No one suspected a thing."
(Elizabeth nods as she raises her eyebrows)
Liz: "They almost got away with it." (straight face) "Almost."
Franco: "If I may ask, how did Sam and I get caught? Yes, Helena was in on it, too. But, she's dead now."
(Elizabeth bursts out laughing and briefly covers her mouth)
Liz: "As if I'll tell you my source because then you'll go after that person. Besides, it was your own damn fault for talking in public when there was a possibility that you could be heard! Next time you want to keep your dirty laundry, I suggest talking in a private area."
Franco: (rolls his eyes) "I thought it was a private area."
Liz: "Apparently not."
(Elizabeth takes a pen out of the purse and hands it to Franco, asking him if he's ready to sign)
Franco: "Have you already signed?"
Liz: "Yes. When Diane brought the papers yesterday. Now, it's your turn."
Franco: "This is going so fast."
Liz: (shrugs) "It's time to move on and you should do the same. Once the papers are signed, I'll give the papers to Diane Miller. Within a few weeks, it'll be over."
Franco: "Only a few weeks? Don't divorces take longer than that?"
Liz: (smiles proudly) "My lawyer gets things done."
(Franco sighs in defeat as he takes the pen from his soon to-be-ex-wife and signs the papers)
Liz: (polite smile) "Thank you."
Franco: (nods) "I'm glad you'll be happy."
(Elizabeth leaves the penthouse after they say their goodbyes)
***Alexis's Cottage***
(Alexis rolls her eyes in annoyance, which Sam notices)
Sam: "Okay, what's wrong with you?"
Alexis: "I swear I watch Danny more than you do. I love my grandson, don't get me wrong, but he's your son, Sam. NOT mine."
Sam: (scoffs) "I do love Danny! I do spend time with him! But, I need to take care of something." (shakes her head) "I can't do that and take care of Danny at the same time."
(Alexis narrows her eyes as she speaks)
Alexis: "Is it illegal?"
(Sam gestures as she shakes her head)
Sam: "Why are you never on my side?"
Alexis: "I'm always on your side, honey. But you DO have a tendency of making bad choices."
(Sam sighs deeply in annoyance as she gets ready to leave. As she walks out the door, she speaks)
Sam: "I'll be back in a few hours."
Alexis: "Danny and I will be here."
(After Sam is gone, Alexis speaks under her breathe)
Alexis: "Danny is going to grow up resenting you. And you will have no one but yourself to blame. Oh, Sam, what are you planning now?"
(Sam called her male co-conspirator to meet. They briefly talk on the phone)
Male Person: "I was beginning to wonder when the events would take place."
Sam: "Yeah, sorry about that."
***Pier***
(After they're both on the pier, they talked business)
Guy: (shrugs) "What did you have in mind?"
Sam: (smirks evilly) "How do you feel about a little kidnapping? A place where no one suspects and where Jason wouldn't think to look?"
(After thinking for a moment, the guy comes up with a perfect place)
Guy: "How about the underground basement at General Hospital? No one would think to look there."
(Sam smiles in satisfaction before speaking)
Sam: "Are you ready to put our plan into motion, Cyrus?"
(Cyrus raises his eyebrows and speaks in an 'innocent' tone)
Cyrus: "What do I get in return for helping you?"
Sam: (shrugs) "What do you want?"
(Cyrus walks closer to Sam and massages her shoulders)
Cyrus: "I've always wanted a piece of you." (shrugs) "Sleep with me and I'll help you with the kidnapping of Elizabeth Baldwin."
