Sesshomaru was, for once in his life, double-guessing his actions. The girl left his office without a word, just tears in her eyes, leaving the flowers behind. They now sat on his desk, staring at him.
Damn girl, he had never sent flowers to anyone before, and so what if it was just to get her goat as humans so say.
But now, he felt at odds; they had just found each other, and they were the only ones left of their world and time; regardless, they had a connection; did he really want to break it?
Believe it or not, she was a very tolerable human wench. Amusing.
It was too quiet now, it had not felt so since Rin's death. After years and years of her noise, he grew to love it, and then, like all humans, she was gone, and he was left in silence; it took years to get used to it again.
Perhaps it was best to cut ties now, Kagome did have a way of moving into people's lives and he knew that she would most likely be a big part of his life, but did he want to go through Rin all over again?
Kagome was human, she would die, and he would be once again left behind.
But he was not so weak as to let her death hurt him, was he?
Her leaving didn't sit right; perhaps that did not turn out like he thought it would. Why was she so mad?
A knock stopped his thinking "Come in,"
A girl came in, she was a small thin, frail girl with nerdy glasses, but she was sweet and did her job without fail or question.
"Here is the last file for today, if that is all I'll be going first," She bowed as she spoke softly.
Sesshomaru leaned back in his chair and signed,
The girl looked up. "Something wrong?"
He eyed her, which made her uneasy, he knew he was an attractive male, and while she was a nerd and never dared have a crush on him, she still blushed under his gaze.
"Are all women the same?"
She raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry?"
"Do women think the same?"
"Well, I guess it depends on what the subject is," She pushed her glasses back.
"Sit, explain this,"
She was shocked but sat. "Well," She smiled, "When it comes to love, I think we all think about the same thing, to a degree,"
He didn't understand,
"Like rich women, they want rich men; the more money the more they pretend to love you, but us women, the normal ones, we all have the same dream,"
He still looked confused; love was not his subject.
"Maybe if you tell me whats going on, I could better, um, help you?" Not that she was an expert or anything.
He eyed her, he didn't trust anyone, but she was an honest human.
"She is angry with me," He picked up the flowers and tossed them at the girl, she caught them.
"I made a joke," Which everyone knew he didnt do.
"Girls dont care for jokes if it's at their expense," She said, looking at them,
"I do not joke."
"You do have a point, I've never known you to even smile,"
He narrowed his eyes; hey, at least this silly girl was honest.
"So she is mad because of a joke?"
"She is made because I kissed her."
The girl blushed and pushed her glasses back to her face again, "You, what?"
"Indeed,"
She mouthed the word wow but didn't dare say it.
"I'm sorry, but why would that make her mad? I mean, every woman on earth wants to, um, I mean, you know,"
"She was in love with my brother."
"Wait, you have a brother?"
"Had, half brother, he is dead,"
Now, she looked confused. "Ok, so she loved him, you love her-
"I said I kissed her, not I loved her,"
"Right, so why did you kiss her?"
"To prove my point,"
The flowers fell from her hands. "And what point were you trying to make, if you do not mind me asking?"
"That it was not love she had for my brother,"
She blinked. "I'm confused; why would you want to do that? Why kiss her? That isn't a very nice joke,"
"I am unsure of my motive; the kiss came naturally,"
A smile graced her face; he didn't like it.
"You like her, and it irritates you that she still loves your brother!" She said while standing!
He did not look amused "You are fired,"
She sat. "What?"
"It still does not tell me why she is mad,"
"Because we all hope to have that one-of-a-kind fairytale story, and sometimes all we have are some lost chapters on pages we can't turn back to," She looked down at her hands and sighed, "She's mad because deep down she knew your bother didn't love her, perhaps there was another woman?"
"Indeed, you know more than you should for someone like you."
"I'm a nerd; I don't go on dates; I read dirty novels," She blushed and looked away, and he raised an eyebrow. Well, he would have never thought that about her.
"She's mad because you were right,"
He looked happy about that. She eyed him.
"That's not good, not if you want her in your life,"
His smug look vanished,
"You can't miss this moment."
"Moment?"
"You like her, right?"
He liked her; he guessed, "She is a valued person within my life, nothing more."
She sighed, and he stood, "That will be all; I will be leaving first,"
"Im not fired for real, right?"
"Hn."
She watched him leave, and she nodded her head. "Silly, rich, overly good-looking guy, you in love with the girl,"
