A week passed since the beginning of training for Peyton. It was the same day Tom showed his friends his progress on his own power. The boy looked on the palm of his hand, a small ball of light. His eyes sparkled as he observed it, "That so cool dude!"
Steel chuckled as he put a hand on the shoulder of the boy, "You did it Peyton! You see! You humans do have power!"
"Yeah!" Peyton realised something. If he could use his power, then maybe there was more truth from Titanium explanation. Maybe the Metalist once lived on Earth and were sent here long ago. It was a maybe, but it couldn't be something he could ignore anymore. At the same time, a thought came to him. It was a week and maybe a few more days and he didn't see his parents. It wasn't like when he ported to Perim. He was stuck there and couldn't go home. He missed his parents. Despite the happiness and joyful mood of Steel, the portly boy lost it.
The creature noticed it and sat down, "Is there a problem? You were so glad you could call upon your power," he saw the ball of light dissipated.
Peyton sighed. He let a soft whisper, "I miss them," which escaped the ears of Steel. He missed his parents and his friends, humans and creatures. He had no idea how Theb-Saar and the others might feel right now. They were worried sick for him. He then let out a small forceful smile, "Not really."
The creature knew something was up.
Chapter 33: Homesickness Solution
Steel went and met with his king to give his report, "I have some good news and a worrisome news. I'll begin with the good news if you want."
Titanium was on his throne and put a report on his lap. He crossed his fingers and nodded at him, "Begin with the good news. I have a feeling the bad news would take a while to discuss."
"You are right my king. The good news is that Peyton managed to summon the power of the light thanks to your wisdom," he put his hand on his chest and raised it, "I think he might also believe that some of your explanations were true. He is also healthy and the bit of physical training we pushed on him, just in case he had to escape them, are fruitful. With the awakening of his power, it should make the physical training much easier as an after effect."
"Good. Anything else or we more to the problem?"
"Nothing else my kind. The problem is that Peyton has more and more difficulty to stay in a good mood. He doesn't seem to even be able to pretend that everything is okay. If I can clearly see he is forcing a smile on his face, then there is something."
"When did this happen? We wouldn't want our friend to be in misery."
"He was happy when he could use the power of light, but that happiness was gone. I didn't say anything to change his mood. I promise you that," Steel hit his chest and it echoed in the throne room.
Titanium frowned, "He is with us for a while."
The two creatures were pensive. They weren't certain what might affect his mood. Steel explained the few times where he noticed something like that happening. There was one thing the king managed to put out, it was always when the boy had the time to think. Which meant that he was in his mind when his mood worsened. From what he could guess.
"He is a kid and-" the king stopped. The creature stood up, "Homesickness maybe. Our soldiers who we sent on the field of Perim eventually expressed a bit of homesickness when away from home. We are also going through that when we think back of where we come from," he glanced at his soldier as he thought more.
"I agree. I never seen the Cothica, but just seeing the few images and records we have from there just make me feel homesick somehow. So, I don't go to that room and get all down when there might be pretty ladies around."
"Right," Titanium grumbled as he ended that thought before it went explicit. He tapped his chin and searched for how to help the boy. He was fairly certain it was homesickness. He found nothing for now. He didn't know that boy well enough. He had a few theories on what might be helpful, but nothing else. He stood up, "I will talk with Peyton and see what's wrong. You can come with me. He is friendly with you."
"You should give some of your time for him, but I know you are king and have many duties like this report. May I ask what it's about?" Steel asked.
"It's about the location of a creature named Van Bloot. They spotted him in the Underworld and he tried to make contact with me. The report stated he knew about the Metalist and asked why we showed up around Perim. He implied a possible proposal, but I am not interested for now. My soldier turned him down, but kept note of this altercation. I need to find out who he is and how he knew quite easily about us," they stood in front of Peyton's room, "And he watched us for a while it seems," he cut the conversation as he opened the door.
Peyton rested on his bed and seemed to have little energy. The boy thought about his parents and his friends. He missed them. It was lonely in the castle with only Steel and sometimes Titanium to speak with. The boy heard the door opened and sat up. He saw the two Metalists that came in his room, "Hi there. What's going on?" he nervously asked. He forced a smile on his face.
The two creatures of metal clearly knew it was fake. They crossed their arms.
Titanium opened the conversation, "I heard that you were feeling down for a little bit. If Steel can notice it, it might be serious. That's why I came," he ignored the small glare his soldier gave when he got that small insult.
The soldier focused on his friend, "You were really down, even after you managed to summon the light on your hand. Don't know how to cheer you up or help you since we have no idea what's going on. We just know there is something going on."
The portly boy guessed they saw right though him. He didn't bother to keep his smile. It wouldn't matter to hide it, so he confessed, "I miss home. My parents are surely worried sick. I don't know what they are doing and I can't stop thinking about them."
"It's normal you miss them that much. You are still a kid Peyton," Steel sat by the side of the human. He put a hand on his shoulders, "We might have something to cheer you up here. We could make this a bit less painful."
"You aren't my parents."
The Metalist chuckled, "Of course not. You are too fleshy for me to be your dad," he didn't see any smile on his face, "I guess you want to see your parents."
"Yeah."
"Can they port to Perim or something like that?" the creature asked.
"No."
As the two continued to talk, Titanium thought about what might help the boy. He gazed at the boy. He listened to their conversation, but didn't participate in it. He wasn't buddy with the human, but wished he could. Still, right now, the human needed something to increase his mood. He needed to find something to make him smile. He finally had an idea. He knew the boy was homesick now. He needed something to ease it up. It was quite simple, what he had to do. It would surely made Peyton happy, "I need to go. I need to do some research and perform my duties. I can see you have Peyton in your capable hands."
He turned around and left the room.
The boy and his guardian glanced at each other's.
Peyton asked, "Does he have something important to do?"
"He finished reading the reports, but he might have more to do. He sees that you will be okay with me. He doesn't really believe he can help you more than I can. I mean, we are often together and he have little time to speak with you. I'm sure he really wished to know you more."
"Maybe he can find ways to make time. Theb-Saar could do it."
"Yeah, but I don't think he had to watch his own tribe just in case they might do something on his back all the time. Especially with you around. He is working for your safety," Steel commented.
"Yeah," Peyton guessed he should talk with the king soon. Still, it was the king of an unknown tribe who kidnapped him.
Lucas and Judy were in the kitchen and ate their lunch with little appetite. Their son was gone for more than a week. They were still worried sick.
Lucas was a portly Caucasian man with short brown hair, blue eyes and a small scar on his cheek. He wore a blue vest with black pants with a few holes on it. He never changed the type of pants he wore for another type.
"Peyton," Judy sobbed worryingly.
Lucas glanced outside the window. He struggled to believe his son might come back safe and sound. The man had no idea if he was fine in jail or something worse. He had no idea what those Metalist were. Sarah told a bit about them, but not that much since last time.
Someone knocked at the door. The two turned towards it. They had no hope that their son would just show up without any warning.
Lucas went at the door and opened it. He froze in place when a large creature in armor stood at the entrance.
Titanium watched at the man and could tell this was Peyton's father, "Took three days to find you. Where is Peyton's mother and-"
"I'm right here," she came.
The man quickly told his wife, "Stand back! He-" he yelped when he grabbed him.
The king of the Metalist held him, "I came to bring you to your son. He still needs his parents."
"My son?" Judy asked as she approached him.
Lucas struggled against the hand, but couldn't escape the grasp of the creature, "L-Let go! Run Judy!"
"I will soon enough. Judy. You will meet your son again if you come with me. I promise that."
Suddenly the metal being heard a voice from the next house.
"You!" Sarah looked at the creature from the window. Her parents and her brother came quickly when she yelled that out of the blue, "Bring back Peyton right now!" she jumped out of the window and came after them, ignoring her parents warning.
Her brother followed her, "Sarah!"
Titanium chuckled as he noticed the woman, he came for was within his reach, "Sorry Sarah, but I cannot stay here," he grabbed the mother of Peyton, "I can here to bring my friend Peyton a family reunion. Rest assures that-" he noticed she was close already, "He's fine. Bye!" he activated his Telebracers and teleported away before she reached him.
Sarah watched the empty space, "Dammit!" she grunted. The creature got away again.
"Sarah," her brother Alexandre put a hand on her shoulder.
"He got away again! That bastard!" she was furious. She would not give up on her friend.
Her brother had a feeling what was in her mind, "I will help you find them in Perim. I promise you that," he told her.
"Thanks."
Their parents were by their side and watched the empty space. Their mother called the cops and reported the incident.
The siblings watched the empty stop where the parents of Peyton were. Sarah had no idea why the Metalist king for the parents of her friend, but she didn't like this at all. She sent a message to her boyfriend and Kaz about what just happened. They had to talk about this as quickly as possible.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: Reunion.
Peyton was reunited with his parents, but his mother caused a diplomatic accident with Titanium.
