Present Day
Aurora's POV
2 Days Later
I sighed in annoyance as I sat in my bed in the infirmary. I have been stuck in this horrible, miserable, lifeless place for the past 2 days and it has been constant torture. No one has bothered to update me on how Felucia went, nor has anyone really been telling me anything that has been going on elsewhere in the galaxy. So, for the past few days, I have been sitting here doing nothing…well…that's a lie. I haven't been doing exactly nothing, but close to nothing. What I've basically been doing is scrolling through the holo-net watching reruns of HoloDramas that my grandmother used to watch along with the occasional documentary here and there, been reading countless documents/data files Ahsoka brought me from the archives to try and keep my mind active, along with playing Dejarik either by myself or with Anakin when he'd come to visit me. I've also been people watching.
The people that come in and out of the infirmary are fascinating. Occasionally, I'd see a Master and Padawan get rolled in on stretchers cause they both were injured together, I saw countless numbers of Clones (none of which I knew, thank God), along with the occasional check-up for the members of the Jedi High Council.
The number of doctors that I had around me over the past two days was astronomical. Every hour or so, I'd have my usual team of doctors come in to make sure that I had a constant IV drip, along with the fact that I was taking my meds they prescribed to help with the pain I was in, and to see if my healing properties (AKA my Force Powers) were kicking in, along with making sure that I wasn't speaking. Much to their annoyance along with my annoyance, my enhanced healing abilities weren't kicking in, which led to the doctors believe that my brain/body was still in shock from all the trauma I endured. I had also been on orders to not eat anything that involved "pieces" so in other words, I had been drinking everything to receive my daily nutrients. As I said before, this place, is my personal form of Hell.
I was about to turn on the Holonet again for the billionth time that day, but Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, and Cody walked in.
"I brought you something to eat…or drink." Cody said with a somber look on his face as I frowned in response as he placed the drink down on my bedside table.
"Good-Morning!" Ahsoka said cheerfully.
Which in response made me get the large pitcher that was filled of ice-chips, from my tray-table, and start throwing them at her. I constantly had a scowl on my face as I was made that she could get up, walk, and do things, and I couldn't.
"Or not." Ahsoka said as she tried to dodge the ice-chips.
I grabbed my empty cup on the tray and threw it at Anakin.
"How's the pain today?" Anakin asked.
My look turned even more dark, as I banged my hand on the table.
"Okay, do you have any discomfort?" He asked again.
I scoffed before banging my hand even louder on the table.
"Her energy is up…that's a good thing." Ahsoka commented and Anakin nodded in agreement.
"Princess, your brother wanted to call you through the Holo, and he said he wasn't getting through. Can I give him the ok from you to call…" Rex began as he stepped by my bedside.
In response I angrily pushed the table towards him, so it hit him in the chest.
"Ok." He said in shock. "It seems like a bad time. I'll tell him that you are sleeping. I'll check in later."
He then started to walk out of the room along with Cody. Anakin sighed and nodded to Ahsoka.
"Maybe we all should check in later." He said with a small nod and Ahsoka followed him out of the room.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance as I looked back to the door. That's when I saw Fox standing across the hall speaking to some doctors. He made eye contact with me, but then looked back to the doctors. I banged my hand on the table in response making him look, but he didn't even move a muscle. That's when I grabbed the drink Cody got me and threw it at Fox. Thankfully it didn't hit him, but it landed at his feet, getting some of it on his boots. I saw him sigh before walking toward my room, and eventually walk through the doorway.
"I heard what happened…are you okay?" He asked.
I raised my eyebrows in sarcasm, and gestured to my elevated right leg that had a cast on it, along with my neck, my foot, and both of my arms.
"You're right, I'm sorry that was a stupid question." He said as he sat down in the chair next to my bed.
I grabbed the data-pad that I had been communicating with and began typing.
"How was Felucia?" I asked.
He sighed. "It was rough."
I tilted my head to the side as he sighed again.
"We got hit hard…Spyder and Blitz both got bacterial infections. Evidently there's some nasty diseases floating around Felucia. Lucky is living up to his name, he got shot in his upper shoulder on his right arm…he's healed, but he's lucky to be alive, Basher had some minor injuries as well as Pinz and Horror, Klix, and Mak also got a couple of scrapings, but we lost Ten. There were too many droids." He explained.
"I'm sorry Fox." I replied.
"It's not your fault Princess." He explained. "It's mine, I led them, and I gave them instruction, it's on me."
I shook my head. "No, it's on me. It was my fault we lost Shock, and I live with the guilt I have from that day every day, and it is my fault that we lost Ten. I may have not been there, but I should've fought harder to get to you all. If I had gotten there, Ten would still be alive…but because I wasn't there, Ten is with Fox."
He nodded as he stood up. "Thank you for everything Princess, and for the record I wasn't ignoring you…I wanted to know about your condition."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm still alive."
He laughed before walking out. "That you are."
I had no more visitors that day, so I spent most of the day sleeping, as that was only the real way to spend the days. I didn't really want to keep my brain active, all I wanted to do, was sleep the pain away.
5 Days Later
After five days of not speaking, I finally was allowed by the doctors to get my neck brace off and speak. Anakin and Ahsoka weren't there for the occasion, due to the fact they were handling some Jedi matters in the Senate, but Obi-Wan was there standing in the doorway to my room as the doctor finally took my neck brace off.
The doctor gently went to touch my throat and I flinched in response.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry. I know it's still a little tender." She explained.
She continued to feel around my neck before she spoke again.
"Ok, let's try your voice now. 'My name is Aurora Kryze, I'm from Mandalore.'" She said in a very calm voice.
I nodded before I got up the courage to speak.
"My…" I began, which came out like a whisper.
The doctor continued to feel around my neck.
"Ok, take your time. You still have a lot of swelling in your vocal cords." She explained.
I nodded before trying again.
"My…name…is…" I began very hoarsely. "…Aurora…Kryze…"
The doctor looked to Obi-Wan before walking out of the room, closing the glass door behind them, speaking a few words to one another before she walked away. Obi-Wan however, came back in though.
"I want to go home." I hoarsely explained.
He shook his head. "Your ankle and your back are still healing. You are going to start physical therapy later today, but in the meantime, how about some fresh air?"
I gestured to my cast. "How?"
Just then a nurse walked in with a wheelchair. Obi-Wan nodded to the nurse before looking back to me.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head in annoyance. Within minutes, I was being wheeled down the various halls and corridors of the Jedi Temple by Obi-Wan.
"You probably think this is amusing." I scowled in annoyance.
"I actually don't." He explained. "I was rather concerned about your physical state when you got here. You were in a rather bad state."
"Wow, and here I thought I looked more phenomenal than I already do." I said in annoyance.
"Aurora, don't start, please." He explained. "I was concerned, thankfully your brother informed me that your mother doesn't return to Mandalore for at least another 2 weeks. It appears negotiations are still underway."
I sighed. Great, another world who my mother is forcing to turn neutral. Another win for Satine in her quest for galaxy-wide pacifism. I didn't reply to his comment as he pushed me into an over-look that showed most of the upper level of Coruscant.
"See, isn't this better than sitting in that infirmary?" He asked as he sat down next to me.
I shrugged in response. "I guess so. I was getting bored of watching documentaries on how Starships are built, along with how Lightsaber Crystals are mined. Plus, I eventually got into watching reruns of old HoloDramas my grandmother used to watch when she was alive. What was it called? Love on the Right? No that's not it."
"Love on the Rift?" He asked.
I nodded. "That's it."
"I used to watch it as well. Or more so, my Master did. I took later interest during my own time when I was in the infirmary. It is a rather good HoloDrama." He explained.
I nodded. "I didn't say it wasn't. I just haven't seen it since I was a kid, but then again, my mother never let me watch the Holo growing up, my grandmother however did, whenever I was on Kalevala at least."
"You never watched The Octave Stairway as a child?" He asked in shock.
I shook my head. "My mother believed that anything on the Holo was rather too violent for me. Even the non-violent things to her were violent. After I got kidnapped, she became so overprotective of me, it almost hurt."
"You are her daughter, of course she'd be overprotective." Obi-Wan replied.
"More like insurance policy." I replied.
"Aurora." He began.
"All she wants is for me to take over for her when I am 25. And that's not what I want." I explained.
"What do you want?" He asked.
I smiled as I looked out at Coruscant. "I want to live a normal life…or as normal as it can be. I want to protect my brother from our aunt, and destroy Death Watch, and all of the people associated with them. I want to learn and use my powers to their full potential…and…"
"And?" He questioned.
I sighed and shook my head. "I want to learn who my father was…though that will most likely never happen. He's probably dead, I don't know why I get my hopes up."
Obi-Wan looked like he wanted to reply but didn't. Instead after a few moments of silence he said:
"Why don't we get you back to the infirmary, they are going to be looking for you for physical therapy."
I nodded as he started pushing me back inside of the Jedi temple.
4 Hours Later
"Your Highness," The Physical Therapist began. "Your back almost completely straight. For not walking in 5 days, and where the current alignment of your spine is, it's not bad. You might be out of here in the next week or so."
"Great." I said in an annoyed voice as I was lying face down on a table as the therapist messaged my back to try and get my spine aligned again. It wasn't that bad where I needed a full realignment, but rather a partial. Eventually she told me to roll onto my back so I could sit up. Once I was sitting up, she spoke again to me.
"I am going to go get the supplies to change the bandages on your left foot, but I am also going to take the bandages off your arms. I'll be right back." She explained.
I nodded as she walked away. I looked over to the kid in the bed across from me. He looked to be about Ahsoka's age, maybe a little bit younger, but he was staring at me the entire time.
"What're you looking at Kid?" I asked in annoyance.
"It's not every day a Princess comes through here. It's like a celebrity sighting." The boy explained.
I rolled my eyes. "Why're you here?"
"Got shot by a blaster bolt, my Master requested that I come here. I'm not allowed back into the field until I'm healed." He explained. "What about you?"
I smiled. "Similar issue, but I was kidnapped by some Trandoshans and choked by an apprentice of Dooku's. I'm also not allowed to leave until I'm healed."
"I guess we're both impaired." He explained and I laughed in response.
"I agree, I guess we are both broken in a way." I replied.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Aurora, but you can call me Ro. What's yours?" I asked with a small smile.
"Caleb. Caleb Dume.
