I was at Sarah Jane's house as usual. Rani and I were in the living room. We were talking about the guys in our drama class. "So, what do you think about Leo?" Rani asked. I pictured him and pulled a face. "Timberly? Ew. He is so mean." I said. Rani laughed. "Why? What's wrong with him?" She asked. "Well, for one thing, he's a bully. He constantly remarks on the fact that I have no dad. Oh, and because I'm Japanese." I ranted.

The door banged open. Clyde and Luke walked in. "What you ladies talking about?" Clyde asked, dropping down next to Rani. "Uh, wouldn't you like to know?" I said. "Leo Timberly." Rani said without hesitation. "Eh, boring. How about truth or dare?" Clyde suggested. "Yes! I love that game!" I yelled, causing them to start laughing. "What? What did I do? Luke, Why are they laughing?" I asked, flapping my hands around, turning to look at one of my besties. "Asha, when Clyde suggested Truth or Dare, you jumped up while screaming, flapping your hands around like a lunatic, and you didn't even realize?" Luke asked, sounding concerned about my sanity. "Ah, right. Clyde, truth or dare?" I asked, sitting back down.

"You know what? Hit me with a dare." Clyde said. "Okay. I dare you to eat a whole tablespoon of… Marmite!" I said dramatically. "Okay." He said with a shrug. "Come on, there's some in the fridge." Luke said, running to the kitchen and came back with a jar and a tablespoon. He put the spoon in and out came the tar like substance that Clyde will have to eat. "Give it to me." Clyde said with fake enthusiasm. He took the spoon from Luke and held it to his mouth. "Do I have to?" Clyde whined. "Unless you want to invoke double dare." I said, raising an eyebrow. "NO!" he cried, shoving the whole thing into his mouth. We all laughed at the revulsion on his face. "That was disgusting." Clyde announced.

We all sat back in a circle. It went: Me, Luke, Clyde, Rani. Clyde grinned at Rani. "Rani. T or D?" Clyde asked. "Dare." Rani responded automatically. "Dare you to imitate a chicken laying an egg." Clyde said. This will be funny. Rani screwed up her face while squatting. She then started to make a chicken laying an egg noise, which was quite accurate. William's parents own a farm in the country. She carried on for about a minute before sitting back in her place. Rani grinned at me. "Ash?" She began. "Dare." I said, before she even asked the question.

Rani had this smirk, which terrified me. "I dare you to get out of class, go to my dad's office, when he asks what you, of all people, are doing outside his office, you hand him a tin of cookies and say, 'I just wanted to deliver these.'" Rani said, high-fiveing Clyde. Okay. That's simple. "Rani, would your dad allow a bake sale next week? It could be for the school library?" I said. Rani shrugged. "Yeah, don't see why not." I grinned. That was my master plan for not getting in trouble.

I turned to Luke. "Luke-y boy. You know the question." I said. "Dare." He said, quite brave of him. "I dare you to go outside and scream 'I lost my voice, can you help me find it?' and then see if anyone reacts." I said. "Okay." Luke said, getting up. I ran after him, getting my phone out. "Are you really going to record this?" Luke asked, majorly embarrassed. "Yes!" I exclaimed, putting it on video recorder. He sighed and went outside. "I LOST MY VOICE! CAN YOU HELP ME FIND IT?" Luke screamed. Sarah Jane came around the corner. "Luke! What do you think you're doing?" A shocked Sarah Jane asked. "Playing Truth or dare. Sorry Sarah Jane. I dared him to do that." I said, hoping she wasn't angry. "Oh, well, as long as you don't do that again. Now, back inside. I'll make you all some food." Sarah Jane said. "Thanks Sarah Jane!" I called, running inside.

Luke and I sat back down in the circle. "What happened?" Rani asked. "Oh, Luke screamed and scared Sarah Jane." I said casually. "Ha-ha." Luke said sarcastically. "Okay. Moving on, Clyde, truth or dare?" Clyde smirked. "Dare." Luke grinned. "I was hoping you would say that. Kiss Rani." Clyde paled slightly. "Rani?" He asked. Rani held out her hand out for him to kiss. "Clever Rani." I said. Now, Clyde can do the dare, and not make their friendship awkward. "Well, you can't say that he didn't do the dare." I said to Luke. "True." Luke said.

Clyde turned to me. "Asha, truth or…" "Truth" I interrupted him. "Wimp." Clyde coughed. "Actually, I have a theory that sometimes, answering a truth is braver than doing a dare. Sure, dares prove that you can do things that may require bravery, but truths are deep, personal. You can make yourself look stupid when doing a dare, losing all dignity. Whereas in Truth, you sometimes reveal something no one knew about you." I said, deeply. I have been overthinking the game again. "Okay, so Asha. Why do you hate William so much?" Clyde asked. I sighed. "In the beginning, he tried to replace my dad. He would try to make it seem as though he was doing a better job at being a dad than my dad would have. He's also jealous of me. In his opinion, I'm a constant reminder that my mum chose him after my dad died. Technically, he only met my mum when I was two. They married when I was four. After I turned five, I decided that I didn't want him to be my dad. So, I told him. He got angry. He decided that I wasn't worth the trouble of getting to know. He began getting angry at everything me. I used my anger at William as a reason to study more. It didn't help that my mum was rarely at home. That is where my study habits come from." I said, smiling sadly as I felt the tears welling up in my eyes as I spoke about something I had never told anyone. Luke put his arm around me while I cried. "I'm sorry Asha. I didn't know." Clyde said. "It's fine. You deserved to know." I said.

Later that night, I was up studying for the history quiz we have on Tuesday. I guess I still had my lights on because I got a text from Luke. It said, "Asha, go to bed. You need to sleep." I smiled. He was so sweet. "Sure. Night Luke." I wrote back, laying down and going to sleep.

an: I don't own the characters or the game. This is an apology before the next chapter. I really don't like the mark of the beserker.
