We were in an old train station. Mr. Smith had picked up an irregularity there. As we were running down the platform, a little boy of about 9 came running out of an abandoned shop. Funny thing was, he was dressed as though he were from the 1950s, approximately. "Hey, you! Stay there! Stop!" Clyde yelled to the boy as he ran away. "Get after him!" Sarah Jane commanded, grabbing my arm to stop me from trying to help. I had been feeling sick for the last few days, having these massive headaches. "Yeah, shout at him, brilliant!" Rani snapped sarcastically at Clyde as they charged off to catch him. Luke, Sarah Jane and I kept running as Sarah Jane lifted her time fissure detector device. "You found anything?" Luke asked when we had stopped. "Got it! In there!" Sarah Jane exclaimed. The signal was coming from the empty clothes shop that the kid had come out of.
We entered the shop to see this magnificent amber wall of light. It was beautiful. "A time fissure. We're staring into time." Luke said in amazement. "It's beautiful." I said. "That poor boy must have wandered in and ended up here. It's happened before. Missing people, lost in time. "But if we stepped through there, we could travel in time. Amazing!" I said at the same time as Luke. We both collapsed in laughter at our similar minds. "Uh- uh. It's not safe." Sarah Jane grabbed Luke's arm as for once it wasn't me doing the stupid thing. "We'll send the kid back home, then I'll use the converter to reduce the energy ratio and close the gap, I hope." Sarah Jane explained, sounding unsure at the end. "Like a time puncture repair kit?" Luke asked, trying to be funny. "Yeah, exactly like." Sarah Jane chuckled.
Just then, Clyde and Rani burst in with the kid. "Sarah Jane! We got him." Clyde said, sounding triumphant. "What's going on?" asked the kid, sounding terrified. "Don't worry, everything's going to be alright." Rani said, sounding stressed. Luke and I went over to them. "Hello. What's your name?" Sarah Jane asked him, trying to gain his trust. "Oscar. Who are you lot? Where am I?" Oscar asked, petrified. "Don't worry about that. Your going home Oscar." Sarah Jane said, pressing a button and the time fissure split, making a hole to walk through. "Bit Moses and the Red Sea." I said to the gang. "Just step through. You'll be safe. There's nothing to be afraid of." Sarah Jane said, glaring at me for my unhelpful comment. "Sorry." I muttered, wishing I could keep my big mouth shut. "Go through. I promise you'll be safe." I said, whispering in his ear. "No. I'm scared," he said, in a typical show of childish stubbornness. "Luke." Sarah Jane said, handing the device to Luke and taking Oscar's hand. "Come on, it's all going to be fine." Sarah Jane said, using her gentle voice on the terrified 9 year old.
My head suddenly felt like someone was drilling a hole in it. I lost focus for about a minute. When the headache passed, I saw the time fissure had been closed and everyone was looking at me with concern. "What happened? Where's Oscar?" I asked, sounding dead. I cringed at my voice, which was nothing like what I normally sound like. "Oscar's fine. He went back to his time." Sarah Jane said, sounding shaken. "Did you know the area? You look and sound like you've seen a ghost." I said, concerned. "Yes, Asha, I'm fine." Sarah Jane said. "Okay. I'm fine Clyde. Stop hovering like I'm about to collapse." Clyde gets really irritating after I have a huge headache like I just did. He hovers around, making sure that I don't faint, as I did the first time this week, during science. It's sweet that he tries to keep me from injuring myself, but it is getting annoying. "Let's go." I said, leaning on my trusty walking cane. A.K.A: Luke.
"Bye, Sarah Jane" Rani said, sounding offended that Sarah Jane was just walking off. "Yeah." Clyde said in confusion. "See you tomorrow?" I called. "Bye Rani, Asha." said a dazed Sarah Jane. "She's no good at hiding how she feels, is she?" Luke asked us. "No, but you had to get the habit from somewhere." I said cheekily. "She said she was fine." Clyde said in confusion. "She spent the whole ride back staring straight ahead, not saying anything. She didn't even complain when Steve Wright came on." I pointed out, backing Luke up. "Yeah, not even when he played the Hoosiers." Clyde realized. "Something happened when she went back in time." Rani said. "Maybe it had to do with the place and time. Her parents must have been there." I deduced. "How did you get that?" Rani asked. "It's how I would have reacted if I saw both my parents, happy, together, and my Dad alive." I said logically. "So, it's up to you, my young padawan, to find out the whole story and if Ashy here is right." Clyde said, patting Luke on the cheek. "Ashy?" I asked in irritation. "Yeah, your name's Asha, you were born on Ash Wednesday of 1994. Face it, Ashy." Clyde said, being stupid. "No. Just no." I said, walking away. "SEE YOU TOMORROW!" I called.
As I walked into my house, my mum called out to me. "Asha! You need to go to the dentist!" Mum called. "Fine! When?" I asked. "Now!" she yelled back. "Sure! Just let me get my history book!" I called. A few minutes later, I was in the car. An hour later, I was coming home again, in tears. I just found out that I need braces. When I got home, I ran upstairs and began revising psychology.
Then next morning, I woke up to William banging on the door. "Asha Yamamoto-Jones, get up now. Your friends are here!" He called. "Shut up William. It's a Saturday, and my name is Asha Niko Yamamoto!" I yelled back opening the door. "Hi Clyde. Hi Rani." I said as they walked in.
We were running up into the attic. "Their phones are off and me and Luke are meeting up." Clyde said, getting worried. "Clyde, it's Luke and I, not me and Luke." I said, trying to fix his grammar. "Not now Asha. Luke never, ever forgets. I tell you, my Clydey sense is tingling." Clyde said. We were all stood in front of Mr. Smith. "They might've just gone out." Rani suggested. "What if Sarah Jane's been grabbed?" Clyde asked. "Or, she's just gone back in time to when her parents were still alive and Luke went with her." I said, reading a text I got from Luke last night. It read, "Hey Asha, mum and I went back to 1951. See you when we get back." I grinned at his constant need to get his grammar right, even in texting. "Mr. Smith, I need you!" Rani called, ignoring what I said. "Where are Sarah Jane and Luke?" Clyde demanded as soon as he was out. "I told you, 1951. Not sure of the place." I chirped. "I have no further information." Mr. Smith said. "Come on, did she say where they've gone?" Rani asked. "No Rani, she did not." Mr. Smith said. "See! That's weird. What id it's Aliens?" Clyde asked. "Nah, just the time fissure. Hang on, where did it lead? And give us the connection between there and Sarah Jane." I said, hoping I'm wrong and they've just gone to the library. "Sarah Jane was born here, in the village of Fox grove. She lived there as a baby in the exact period to which the fissure leads." Mr. Smith rattled off. "Her mum and dad! They were alive then." Rani said. "Knew it. I hate being right sometimes." I said, knowing that's what Luke meant. "Whoa! Obvious trap!" Clyde exclaimed. "It's normal to want to see a parent you have never met. I would." I said, knowing that I would do what she did. "Information! Energy pulse detected." Mr. Smith said. "Energy pulse! Where?" Clyde asked, thinking it was about an alien invasion. "Behind you." Mr. Smith said, causing us to turn around and find this box blinking blue. "Oh, no. Bad news." Clyde said, all of us running towards it. "Tell me." Rani said. "Maria involved right?" I asked, knowing the answer. "Yeah. Last year, some really weird stuff went down. I never got my head round it. But some alien thing took Sarah Jane out of time completely. But Maria could still remember her because she had his box. It protects you against some other midget alien, the Graske. And, bad time things in general." Clyde explained. "But how does it protect you?" Rani asked. "I don't know. With its boxy goodness?" Clyde said, suddenly sounding non-mysterious. "We can remember Sarah Jane and Luke, nothing's changed." Rani said. "Not alien, yet. They used the time fissure. Can everyone stop ignoring me?" I exclaimed, getting angry that they keep forgetting my theory. "Yeah, but something's making it flash though." Clyde said. "We've gotta get after them, warm them," Rani said, pulling Clyde up. "Maybe you should stay here Asha, we can't have you getting a headache while running." Clyde said. "Nah, you need me. " I said, getting up and pocketing the box. "She'll have taken the converter. We can't get through the fissure." Clyde realized while we were leaving the attic. "We can try and that might help us. It's only half an hour on the train." I called, walking down the stairs, hoping that they'll follow me.
We were back at the run down shop thing. The device was beeping madly now. "Ah, the fissure's closed. Try the box." Rani ordered. "Yes ma'am." I said, holding the box up. "Alohamora! Hocus-pocus! Lumos! I don't know. JUMANJII!" I cried, being silly. Nothing happened. "I feel so stupid." I said, putting my hand down. "Look at that." Rani said, holding my hand up. "It's going crazy. " Clyde stated. "No shoot Sherlock!" I said. It was true though. The box was beeping faster and flashing red. "It's trying to tell us something." Clyde guessed.
"Why has it turned red?" Rani asked randomly. "No idea. But I have a bad feeling about this." I said, using the most annoying Star wars quote ever. The fissure opened, out of the blue. "How…" I began. "It's Luke, Luke!" Rani cried out to our missing friend. "No, that's Oscar." I said as the boy from yesterday stepped out of the hole in time. "Oscar, what's wrong? Where's Sarah Jane, the lady who helped you?" a concerned Rani asked. "So stupid. Humans." 'Oscar' sneered. "I really don't like where that sentence ended up either." Clyde said. 'Oscar' began to metamorphose into this tiny little alien in a black suite type thing. He was orange, with three head tails. I'm not kidding. He began laughing like a maniac as we began running away.
"Let's split up!" Clyde yelled as we ran away from the tiny alien. "No. That must be the Graske." I said. "And that'll protect us." Rani said, pointing at the tiny box. "Let's not split up." Clyde amended his previous statement. We continued running until I spotted the bins. "Clyde! Rani! Over here!" I called, ducking behind them. I was so glad that they were huge. And when I say huge, I mean, enormous. "Something's happening. Hold on to me!" I called to Rani and Clyde as we began shaking. We all started screaming as the world began spinning. Suddenly, things began disappearing.
Soon, everything stopped. We were in the middle on nowhere, but we hadn't moved an inch. "What just happened? Where are we?" Rani demanded. "Right where we were." I said, standing up. I looked at the box. It sat innocently in the palm of my hand.
an: I don't own Sarah Jane
