I know I'm pouting. I know I probably look childish. But can you blame me, when Sarah Jane, Clyde and Rani are going to play ghost busters, and I'm stuck at home because I've broken my leg? I broke it in a really dumb way as well. Given the life we lead, you'd expect me to break it by having an alien push me down some stairs, or I broke it in a dramatic escape. But no, the Yamamoto clumsy genes rear their ugly heads. I tripped, over my shoelaces, at the top of the stairs, while home alone. Fortunately, I had my phone in my pocket, and Sarah Jane always has hers on full volume. She and Luke quickly came over once they heard me crying down the phone. They packed me into Sarah Jane's car and drove me to the hospital Mum works at. Mum was really worried when she came across us waiting to get my leg seen to. However, despite her having been really worried about leaving me alone with a broken leg, neither she nor William were able to get out of the conference that they were required to go to. I don't even know who it's for or what it's about, only that they couldn't get out of it. To be fair though, I wouldn't want to be home alone with William anyways, and I know how excited Mum was about this. This has been booked about 2 years in advance, so I was the one who encouraged her to leave me with the Chandras, who have agreed to look after me. Then, Sarah Jane had gotten an invitation to go to Ashen Hill Manor-the most haunted house in the UK-with her friend from the Pharos institute. I really wanted to go, but since breaking my leg, I have been unable to participate in our usual shenanigans, let alone going ghost hunting. Fortunately, Luke didn't want to go at all, so he's staying here with me. "Right then. We'll be back on Sunday, if everything goes to plan. Remember, Luke, behave when you're here. Asha, you're in charge of him." Sarah Jane jokes, bending down to give me a hug, before giving Luke a hug and kiss on the cheek. It's become a joke that Sarah Jane will put me in charge when leaving one of the group to keep me entertained. "Yeah, yeah. You have fun ghost hunting. Let us know how it goes?" I asked, accepting my hug from Rani and the fist-bump from Clyde. Haresh and Gita then hug Rani, asking if she had everything, reminding her to behave, do everything that Sarah Jane or the professor tells her to first time, so on, so forth. They leave soon after.

"So, Luke, have you played chess before?" Haresh asks, getting his chess set out. I laughed when I saw it. Haresh and I always end up with only our kings left, so we stopped playing against each other. Luke shook his head. Haresh grins. "Would you like to learn?" He asks, sounding excited. I know chess is one thing that he really loves that Rani didn't inherit. "Yeah, why not? How do you play?" Luke asks, eagerly leaning forwards. "Oh! Is Haresh teaching Luke to play chess?" Gita asks as she looks up from where she was doing something for Bloomin' Lovely. I nod, grinning as she comes over to watch. Haresh quickly explains the basic rules to Luke, promising to go easy on him. I shake my head. Haresh had no clue the monster he's creating.

First go. Luke wins his first time playing chess. First go! He then proceeded to trounce Haresh another 5 times before Gita calls time. I've burst a lung laughing as Haresh slowly descends into madness, growing more and more frustrated while Luke somehow manages to win, still looking like a perfect angel. Eventually, Haresh gets up to make dinner, leaving me and Luke sat on the sofa. "That...was impressive." I tell him, leaning against the arm rest. He grins. Is he always this adorable? And if so, why didn't I take note earlier? I see him glancing between me and the chess board. "My turn." I smirk, laughing as he brightens up. We set the board up and start playing. It was a tense match. We end up being pretty well matched, however, it turns out Luke was always meant to be the undefeated chess king, as I lost. Well, Haresh is now feeling slightly better, as he is not the only one to lose to Luke. We all sit down and enjoy a wonderful toad in the hole, with Luke educating us further on Ancient Rome, especially their naming system. It is actually really interesting.

We agreed to call Rani at around 8. Luke's already gone home for the night, so it's just Gita, Haresh and I sat around the phone. "Hi Mum, Dad, Asha!" Rani calls when the call connects. "Hello, my darling. How was ghost hunting?" Gita asks. "Yeah, it's going alright, I think. Ashen Hill's history is really interesting, I think you would have loved the Library, Asha." Rani says. "Yeah, you'll just have to memorise everything to tell Luke and I later." I tease her. She laughs at that. "So, how's this afternoon been?" She asks. "Well." Haresh starts, leaning forwards. "Luke's been driving me round the bend! Six times!" Haresh trails off, grumbling slightly under his breath. "I'm sorry, Luke? Luke's been driving you round the bend?" Rani sounds shocked. What wouldn't I do to see the look on her face? "Basically, Haresh taught Luke to play chess. He lost...six times in a row. He played Luke six times. And lost each and every round." Gita and I laugh as Haresh glares at me, no heat in his glare. "Hey, you also lost to him!" Haresh cried out indignantly. "Yeah, but I only played him once, so jokes on you." I tell him smugly. Rani laughed over the phone. "So, back to the original question, have you found any ghosts yet?" I ask. I am so mad that I'm missing out on this. "Well, Clyde and I saw something weird earlier, but not actual ghosts." She told us. I sat up straighter. "What sort of thing?" I ask. "Well, we heard children laughing and there were wet footprints leading away from the fountain. But we couldn't see any actual ghosts or see the footprints be made. Hopefully we'll have more luck in the morning." Rani explains, sounding slightly put out. "Are you at least having fun?" Gita fussed. "Don't worry, Mum. It's defiantly not boring." Rani reassured her. I yawned. "I'll head off to bed. I'll talk to you tomorrow." I grab my crutch and haul myself up. "Night Asha!" Rani calls. "Night Rani." I respond, limping up the stairs and getting straight into bed.

Notes:

I'm sorry about this chapter. I don't really like the episode as much, so I guess this is what you're stuck with. As usual, I do not own this.
