Episode Ignis: The First Tomb.
A/N- Before I begin, so the last chapter, I didn't mention something, so Cor was strict on all glaives because if you guys and gals watched KingsGlaive: FFXV, the rogues went against the nation. He will not tolerate it, not like a rude guy or anything.
Also, if you have seen grammar errors or misspelled words because the phone app, while typing on documents, gets extremely buggy as heck. If I backspace, for some practical reason, it deletes some words. Heck, I tried to use font on certain actions, and the FF app decided to font black caps a whole two paragraphs. Had to fix that on pc, since I'm out most of the time. My apologies for the long delay.
For the next three days, Ignis, Gladiolus, and Iris drove back to Lestallum to reunite with Prompto and his friends. During their journey, they stopped at the pit stop, where Ignis took a moment to contact Sania and Vyv to lend them support. Additionally, with spare time, he contacted a few allies in mind. With this newfound knowledge, they planned to save Eos and await the king's return to purge the scourge.
Gladiolus and Iris, throughout their trip, was admiring the view and rest in Trailer for convenience. Gladio encouraged Iris with a positive outlook of the new home base, and the kindness of her heart will cherish and bring life together. Of course, in the restaurant, Iris has spare funds, and Ignis dearly enjoyed his Ebony once again. Discussing inside the stationary mobile home, the Amicitia siblings agreed to proffer help and establish a new base. Sharing the news with the crowd in Lestallum will progress a steady amount of time to convince the world to come to an end of darkness. Due to Lunafreya speech that show the Light to the civilization, which brought to their attention after her passing, it was inevitable darkness blanket Eos. Accepting Altissian refugee and minimum Gralea survivors to support population growth.
Ignis spread out his thoughts on regrouping Prompto and immediately initiated their expedition to the nearby first tomb. Ignis recalled the Tomb of The Just is kilometers from Lestallum, so it'll be the first destination as the biologist must confirm it is safe to escort the Tomb to safety.
While Prompto and Vyv were taking a picture of full clarity, the Tomb appeared for Hunters to accept their quest. Glaives would advise to protect and maintain the outbreak of Daemons emerging. With concern, the two tons of statues could be an issue, but Cindy Tow truck and majority of vehicles in HammerHead would increase the probability.
After a quick lunch, the tactician pardoned himself to make a few phone calls with the important individual who benefits studies of miasma. Rather simple, Sania willingly supports the young boys due to Noctis catching some...frogs. Yes, a prince collects murky and colorful creatures. Prince and the Frog, as Prompto, would joke around.
Ignis later contacted Vyv to agree on his cooperation, which he simply had no obligation to deny. He wanted to explore and collect more photos and appreciated their help capturing the ghost paint in Altissia. Which was a huge hit in the papers—once a woman who disappeared, now emerging from canvas that was now shut down due to paranormal activity. Though, it's a drag.
The Creepy Painting. The ghost power creepy pixels of eerie phantom have the ability to drain the mana that Noctis suffered and the constant stasis effect; even drain his life force. Confuse and poison is no joke, which Noctis struggled to maintain his composure while fighting the daemon, plus his friends inflicted damage. Especially defensive most of the time, evading his friend's confused attack, and never counter them because they're his family.
One false move, and he could've counter attack his brothers. They managed to capture the picture, but a darn nuisance and never ever again.
Keeping tab with Prompto, Ignis explained his side is returning to Lestallum. Prompto interact with Ignis call the engineer to convince Cindy and slightly tolerate Dino with multiple death stares due to drawbacks, the three return in Cindy Tow truck for Tomb extraction as standby. Keeping in touch with Ignis emergency phone, he charges inside Regalia, and his mobile home was useful, so he won't bother Gladio's phone consistently.
Luckily, the two sides haven't encountered Magitek or the Imperial army since Noctis entered the Crystal. Niflheim is abandoned and left to die with no access to the living. A high prosperity to achieve goals in short notice and easier for Prompto since he travels without his friends on the side. In this factor, the infiltration for all flying fortress and eradicate the daemon factory. Now operational of Lucis.
The next day, Ignis received a phone call from the Immortal that he was heading out from Cape Caem and established Lestallum soon after they finished packing; and contacted the leaders of Kingsglave. Libertus was tricky and crucial to find, smokescreen from Niflheim and away, recovering from injury after the fall, taking moderate time for him to come out of the shadow and spread the light.
Cor suggested Ignis his full attention to unite and deliver a package of importance for the advisor journey. Directing Ignis that it is mandatory to discuss a meeting with Gladiolus, especially his record of using the Light Ring, ensure that it is top secret and concealed from any Glaives or Niflheim to abuse, kidnap, or any sort of torture experiments. Knowing their abomination to toy with miasma for their own immorality and usage of weaponry to harm the livings.
To his surprise, Ignis obliged.
Beforehand, Ignis informed the Empire fell, in which less to worry about. Accordingly, if there are survivors out there with corrupted division to grant their own desire. Cor was simply looking out for Ignis.
Monica and Dustin with Talcott remain posted in the lighthouse but insist on visiting Lestallum to lend full support for his idol: The future King. He'll support Iris to help civilians. Which Prompto easily gets along with children, he'll enjoy his company.
With spare time, Ignis also contacted Ravus, who was calmly and assured discovery to hear Ignis again after days of Altissia incident. Ravus was not eager to view dawn rises the next day. Knowing little or no knowledge of concurrent events and history, he was bound of hatred of Lucis. Ignis elaborates that it'll begin six months, which is ample time to prepare before darkness strikes. Without Ardyn to speed up the scourge at his disposal, it was an opportunity to extend their recommendations.
Hearing the news that without proper leadership and bloodline of Tenebrae princess Oracle passing, Ravus stepped in to become King in his homeland. The downside was that there was skeptical of Tenebrae residents disagree after joining Imperials, which he mutually understood his people. In slow progress, he accepts his treason to leave his people for the terrible Empire—cope peace, and losing his sister was the burden of his beloved.
Shortly after dropping off the Retainers, Fleuret traveled back to his homeland and announced that the Empire is no more than a memory or under their control. Rather, fighting for freedom of Tenebrae was the reason he built up a resistance under Niflheim nose. Behind the shadow, growing mass offense and launch the attack when the enemy Empire occupied with the Hydraean. Broadcasting key information that Niflheim betrayed Tenebrae and built a doomsday demise of Diamond Weapon, led by Ardyn, will destroy their capital despite seize their control. This resulted in numerous council of turmoil arguments for Ravus leading the debate. The ex high commander prosper to lead his people by providing true leadership and underestimating Tenebrae residents.
In the first step, a king must lead his people in order to protect by requesting an important task for his sister dream. No more Niflheim under their watch, only the nation. He mutually intricate to have a peace treaty with Lucis.
Quite frankly, Ignis was the start to articulate.
News to Ignis, he was strangely pleased that Ravus was making a curve, and rightfully, as King and correct his mistake to help the Retainers. Dedicated team player Ravus offer him and the hounds a ride in the sky, along with Aranea, to support them for transportation and combat. Ravus proposed to be a new King of Tenebrae, convert to peace, fight against the scourge for his promise, and add extra access to Niflheim territory and Dreadnought. Informed the advisor that he and his friends, as well Lucis, are more than welcome to visit Tenebrae after he rebuilt what was lost.
Ignis has consideration on ex High Commander help with his airship to transfer Tombs in Lestallum for heavy-duty guarding and Lucis protection.
He agreed.
Which is wonderful.
Ignis said he wanted to collect watts and across to his home. Which is possible. Fleuret will not proceed to travel alone, as he will bring high consultants for eye witness and intelligible. For a matter, Ravus knew claiming as King will take patience and guidance for Tenebrae leader and the last bloodline of the Oracle.
Although, Ignis thought of Cor demeanor. But the Immortal kept his word of fundamental changes. Alter transition to finish what was started. But as a Tenebrae King in flesh and vulnerable, no more of Empire binds to his will or concern to eradicate Lucians. Scheduling a meeting a couple of days prior, which he will alert Ignis upon arriving.
After collecting new data, Ignis shared to the Amicitia siblings in rented trailer. To their reaction, Gladiolus express an doubtful laughter while crossing his arms. Believing that bastard as King? Yeah, he doesn't take the bait. Iris, however, benevolent smile to hear Ravus want to make amends with Insomnia after years of war throughout her life. Never took a step in Tenebrae. She was cheerful to visit Tenebrae one day. With Ravus and Aranea on their aid, commanders of Imperials cooperate with Noctis after bitter war, a soft and easing tension in the air.
Dwindling funds in their pockets, Ignis prefer gourmet homemade meal for the Amicitia, which Iris lend a hand while Gladio fetch bounty and accept request from residents. Stacking Gils, minor profit, but certainly better than nothing. Collecting funds and purchasing frozen fries and patties; despite processed and off brand food, Ignis managed to specialize in fancy grade A restaurant. Most of the tactician time was to self-care for himself, so Ignis got plenty of rest and sewed his shredded clothing from the Adagium assault.
He tried to, and they're beyond repair at this point. Iris decided to take leadership from Gladio with Bounty to make pride for Amicitia. Ignis remained posted and stayed at Trailer for a few days in the afternoon and evening hours to rejuvenate and ponder his endeavor. Gladio suggested his rest plenty regardless of his top-notch health. He had an appropriate time to practice his sleeping schedule again to wake up before the alarm as usual.
Calling the night, Ignis stepped out of the rented trailer and made a phone call with Prompto once more for his status. Eventually, the kid piped up to hear Ignis calm and mature voice of his and reveal his destination. He and his acquaintances managed to fortify HammerHead after two days of blood and sweat, mostly Prompto. Just to flex and impress Cindy. Ignis informed Gladio, and Iris is preparing to depart and reunite in Lestallum tomorrow morning. Prompto was looking forward to seeing his spectacle friend again and hung his phone—calling for the night.
x~~~~~x
Right before the alarm hits 6 AM, Ignis awoke early. He wakes up to hear snore and blanket terrorist from Gladio and proceeds to pack up the goods. Stored valuables to suitcase and brewing Ebony in process. His sense of hearing perked up to hear drizzling and droplets colliding above the ceiling. The window was drenched with rain water as it traveled residues on transparent glass window. Exiting the trailer, the weather was raining in the forecast.
Ignis sighed, his hair—he tender to his liking with gel and spray, experiencing damp and watery mess as he shoved the luggage into parked Regalia in parking lot, hurried of next conquest. Despite one dreary day, it won't make an issue. The tactician decide to rush into Crow's Nest to-go omletes.
Noticing the alarm hit six, the two siblings awoken by buzzing alarm and sluggish moan of annoyance. Right on cue as Ignis invited himself to awakened Amicitias. Ignis properly reminded them of proper care hygiene and breakfast that the tactician made delightful omelet. They enjoyed breakfast together.
Seeing Ignis packed their valuables and suggested to head out after breakfast and shower. Gesturing Gladio needs a shower mostly. After personal care and trends, the three bring Regalia alive and proceed inside before the interior of Regalia get damp. The three get slightly soaked and painted in impurities of rain water. Backing up, set the handle to drive and onward to Lestallum.
Cloudy and wet outside and inside is dry and comfort inside Regalia, the three had to halt their Regalia due to wildlife crossing the street, which Iris was at awe and enticed the beauty of nature. After crossing, the three continued. The rain was heavy storm in an hour after departing, drizzling pasting minutes, and now moist and clear atmosphere. Though, the clouds haze the sun's morning glory. This is an opportunity to dismantle the top hood for the greatest breeze in Eos.
They finally reached to Lestallum—the beauty and pride of lively lights brighten Eos. Across the street, they spotted Cindy's Tow Truck parked thirty feet. Prompto, as a gentlemen, offer Cindy a hand to help her descend from driver seat. Unfortunately, Cindy declined and elevated down on her own. Prompto grimaced. Dino exited from the back of the truck and noticed the Retainers and summoned their name.
Netting Prompto attention to the names and eyes flung to his comrades. Hastily and march his way to his comrades eagerly, greeting Iris, and abruptly hug Ignis in surprise. A brief greeting and embrace, Ignis shrugged him off and revealed a genuine smile. Gladio stood there, laughing and jokingly.
The six gathered and strolled across Lestallum Street, noticing there were more casualties and even Glaives! Many witness valid note of Daemons occurring before 8 o'clock, it was believable that the ending draws near. Ignis was in front, while Dino was his right and Cindy on left, deciphering with the tactician idea after reunion with Cor, Crownsguard, and Cid. A promising sight, a few Hunters and resident of one family recognized Prompto, who protected them from daemons minor outbreak in Qaldin Quay seaside restaurant. The individuals waved and talked in the town.
Flattered and blushing, Prompto poses as heroic acting in great deeds and gloating triumphantly. Both hands on hips. Iris smiles brighter than the lights in Lestallum cheered for Prompto and clapped. The sharpshooter turn his body to the small gathering and pose with a large grinned. Gladiolus spotted his back exposed and pushes the kid from behind with his left boot. Prompto stumbled, but regaining his stance instantly, and laughed at Gladio, attempting to embarrass him of his clumsiness. Gladio eventually grinned slightly and gently fist on Prompto right shoulder as a compliment.
While teasing one another, Iris gestured and yelled the blond and older brother to Ignis that they're falling behind. Ignis and his supporters were already fifteen feet ahead. The Amicitias proceed to catch Ignis' heels while Prompto still exhibits his mighty and virtuous voice.
Gladiolus retraced his steps and seized Prompto to his arm and locked him in, forcing the kid to mimic his footsteps while Prompto couldn't fight back due to his muscular builds. The kid waved, not looking because he was bound by the Shield. Iris waited for the two returns and continued to catch up with the others.
These goofballs. Iris thought, smiling.
After a quick reunion of Retainers, a nice chit-chat on the cafe with kebabs. The three shared stories and experience throughout their time. Prompto was shocked to hear from the Cor demeanor and dismissing him unexpectedly. In short duration, of course. Ignis explained that Cor should be arriving soon. With addition intel of Ravus, progressing as King of Tenebrae mind blown the lad. New allies and willing to offer a ride in the sky are the sickest role as imperial commanders. Organizing the layout of Ignis plan, it was slowly piecing together.
Knowing they credit Ignis, he created an alliance with the commanders now willingly lend support, saving Eos and everyone. But Prompto wouldn't shut his yap about 'King Ravus'. Prompto couldn't wait for the result at the end when Noctis returned.
In the evening, Ignis, Prompto, Iris, and Gladiolus shared the same Leville while Cindy obtained her own room. Dino is probably sightseeing Lestallum with a glorious view and bright streets. He probably has saving in his wallet.
With Gladio bounty funds, he pocketed for a couple of days, he afford rooms for the four, generosity and gentlemen, and he refused to allow Cindy and Dino without a place to stay.
Although, Prompto begged to 'borrow the funds' to accompany her very own room, unlike Dino, who screwed with her chance...or even benefit of a doubt to have guts. Like a child begging mum for some candies in a supermarket, Gladio sighed and surrendered his Gil to the kid, so he'll stop his pestering.
Gladiolus and Iris await for Cor arrival and patiently waiting beside the road. Ignis suggest them to return to Leville as soon as possible to have a proper sleep. Ignis and Prompto remain in Leville. Prompto was browsing his phone and expecting to sleep for the expedition of the First Tomb. Killing time, Ignis was unloading his luggage with toothbrush, paste, plus hairspray and pajama. Chortle in memes as Prompto slides his thumb across the screen gently down, entertained with funny pictures and images. Extremely comfy on the bed, sinking into the soft furniture. Scrolling up, there was—
"PROMPTO!"
That startled Prompto, and his phone nearly jumped out his grasp but stabilized instantly and glanced to Ignis, eyeing him with terrifying glare he never witnessed. A glare that he could possibly scare Giants in seconds from emerging.
"Skippity, bebop? Who? What happened?!" Yelled Prompto in concerned, staring back to Ignis' glory green eyes behind his spectacles.
"I must ask, why is your three hundred thousand Gil price tag on these clothes, made from one of a kind leather, considered irreplaceable? Your clothing appears to be damaged! May I remind you the materials and finest tailor are exquisite, elegant, refined, sumptuous, high-class, aesthetic, and manufactured only in Insomnia. These clothes were damaged due to improper care." Ignis snapped, nagged, as he raised his voice and glared at Prompto with his brilliant blue eyes of stunned Chocobo on a road, gesturing his index finger in disbelief of Prompto's unkempt appearance for days without realizing it.
Prompto inspecting his clothing, directing his eye contact, where Ignis have pointed out, and spotted a burnt and tear on his right hip and seared of fabric checkered vest. Plus, burnt leather pants on his hips, too. Analyzing the worn-out and tear fabric, it took a moment to realize it was related to defective Magitek that lunged and latched to his right side and pinned him.
"Oh yeah, that patch. That Magitek leaped on me and exploded, kinda damage that part when uh..." Prompto trailed off, his face loosened with concern to explain further detail. Knowing it was days ago, it was unpleasant to repeat the past tense.
"Trying to save you, Iggy."
A transparent description placate directly at Prompto as he mentioned caught Ignis devitalize himself from his natural approach. A clarity of his comrade suffering, sorrow, pain, and endurance for someone like himself.
A daring rescue.
Close off his dilemma for one individual.
Immediately, Ignis dismantled his entire character and shifted his expression calmly and regret. Lowering his index finger and stood silently, observing Prompto and the damaged clothing. Realizing Prompto was hurt...? Based on information of Noct use potions for Prompto and Luna influence from the Crystal, he healed completely. The tactician convinced to know if he was.
The Advisor changed, from stern and consequential to calm and collect himself. Pushing his spectacles to his facial. "Take them off tonight, I'll get my sewing kit and mend tonight."
"Oh, uh sure, thanks, ol' pal. Just need my pajameeies and call it a night."
Ignis turned to his luggage and pulled out his box of sewing kit. White opaque box and revealing copious of colored threads and needles, plus a pouch and thimbles. The Advisor seated himself to the available armchair and picked up the appropriate supplies. Setting aside the coffee table of his sewing kit, Prompto began stretching from sitting excessively long periods of time, rolling his back straight, and peek his friend with an gentle mature tone.
"Iggy, you need sleep, tho."
"Don't you worry, I will sleep right on time."
After browsing his phone for a hot minute, Prompto glanced Ignis temporary on his movement and back to his vivid phone. Tapping the sleep mode button, he decide to initiate the conversation. After some browsing, he thought of Ignis sudden transition, realizing he was a tad rude to describe. That's enough memes and world wide web provided and interpret with assuage of his comrade past exerable conquest.
"So Iggy, after we head outdoors tomorrow morning with just a few people we know, what else do we have to accomplish before we wait for Noct?" Prompto asked, gently setting his phone down on the side of the bed. He rolled his back straight and stood up, moving his hands to massage his biceps. Try to wake up his stiff muscles on the back by alternating them front to back.
"Yes."
"I wonder what it's like the endless darkness in your world compared to ours," Prompto mused, removing his belt and loosening his vest. Revealing his black tank top with a unique silver lining underneath. He set aside his belt and vest on the bed and went to his luggage to grab his pajamas.
"In retrospect, we weren't prepared, and the result was survival against Daemons and a coexistence of an everlasting battle. The Glaives died to protect humanity without their king leading his people. My theory concludes that we are one step ahead compared to my time." The tactician replied while scanning Prompto's vest from afar, then returned to pick the rainbow threads. He cupped his hands in various shades of red, blood red, black, tan to match leopard pants, well, mostly black, and placed them on the coffee table.
"Well, you are like, the right hand of Noct, after all. The presentation is: The genius who operates and is against the adversary immortal of Eos as a mortal, eh? Just like a fairytale from a book!" Said Prompto, preactically trying to lighten the mood.
"Was that supposed to be a compliment or insult to 'the adversary'?"
"Both?"
"Mmm, yes, I am eager to see the endgame," Ignis declared, meeting eyes with Prompto as he examined his friend movement.
"Well, hey, how is it like to experience another 10 years but remain the same exact age of your younger—self but a mind from another world?"
Ignis glanced at him, hesitated, and observed the boy. Since Gladiolus and Prompto are the only two who knew he's from an alternative world, it's best to divulge private matters. After a brief moment of pondering, he finally said, "To the past... and to the future. A remarkable opportunity to make things right and for all."
"Y'know, I wonder what we'll do after nonsensical Astral defiance marathon will put us in." Prompto discourse in to his friend while struggling to remove his boots and cast them on the floor.
Ignis hummed in response.
"Can't wait, o' great one, wise, intelligent, futuristic Iggy from an alternate universe. It's such a tickling sensation to be back with the usual gang of men in black. I'm gonna change my clothes real quick, excuse me." Ignis nodded once, resumed preparing the proper color scheme for his friend's clothing, organizing it neatly with thimbles, and a ball of pin needles beside him on the coffee table. Prompto locked the door behind them for privacy.
Ignis examined his lucent phone. The battery life read 72%, which would be sufficient for today during their expedition. He had received a recent message from Gladio, who had been teasing him about Prompto's unkempt appearance since they hadn't seen each other in a week. With his thumb, he tapped the screen on his right hand while his left steadied the colorful threads on the table.
He scrolled through his friend's message.
Gladio: Cor's here. Some Glaives will guard his doors for security protocols. He's gonna rent a room beside us. Iris and I are heading back now.
Ignis thought of his response. Exhaling through his nose and inhaling, softly press the bar and punch the digital keyboard with one hand.
Ignis: All right, we're calling for the night. How is the reunion with Cor?
In instant, Gladio replied within seconds after his reply.
Gladio: His face says it all, though, I explained to him we're having a visitor while you're out of town. Cor didn't expect him to have a... y'know, after all the shit he has committed an intervention.
Gladio: Do you know when he'll arrive?
Releasing his touch on the thread, he rested his chin using his index finger, curling up underneath. After brief pondering, he replied as he retracted his finger, and both eight fingers held to support the phone and mash the button with both thumbs.
Ignis: I'm not certain. He announced evening. A travel across Eos from Tenebrae to Lestallum is quite a journey. But be cautious if the Glaives are mistaken as an enemy.
Gladio: Marshall thought you'll be here with me by now.
Ignis: My apologies. It appears to slip out of my mind. I have a task at hand to accompany one tonight. Prompto, to be precise.
Gladio: That's not the first.
Ignis: Pardon?
Gladio didn't reply after thirty seconds when he sent his message. Assuming he was heading his way or was too busy discussing Ravus' arrival with Lucis. The tactician heard the bathroom door unlock and slipped his device into his hidden pocket of his coat. He analyzed his friend in black and red striped pajamas and held a pile of his full attire in one arm folded over.
"Here ya go bud, heh, I wanted to appreciate my loved and amazing friend willingly make me look one thousand times better charming little lad like me by your craftsmanship." Prompto appeased by Ignis willingly to repair and smiled as he slammed his clothing to the coffee table like a mess on top of his neatly organized sewing supplies without second thought. Couple threads rolled off the table due to unceremonious weight above.
Ignis stared, unimpressed, and clearly not pleased with his friend's clumsiness. He wondered if his lack of organization was something he had learned from Noct... He simply didn't respond to his personality or actions. Noctis shared about Prompto's youthful exuberance and transition into a fitness hobby. A motivating story. At least he listened, for now. Argentum realized the mess he made and gathered the rolled off threads from the floor. He apologized at least.
Picking up Prompto's clothing without complaint and folded it neatly on the side of the coffee table. Laying his dark red flannel checked shirt over his lap, he examined his darkened leopard print pants. The fabric was worn out in places, revealing a burnt hole, and needed some time to carefully match the colors of Prompto's clothing. With precision and care, Ignis sewed across the garment, matching the colors of Prompto's clothing. Starting with his jacket and pants, he laid them out on his right lap.
Prompto moved his black boots with red soles near the door. He then took a huge leap and sank into the heavenly cushion of the bed, his soul and body finally being relieved after a long shift. Prompto performed snow angels, dragged the sheets and blanket along with him as he moved, and let out a satisfied groan. His entire body melted into the layers of the beige and floral patterned king-sized mattress.
"So..." Prompto converse with his comrade, stretching his legs straight and laid stiffened, eyeing the ceiling. "Why the tombs show such significance for this? All I know is that it's for all generations for Noct ancestors. So they get mighty and beef with those arsenal."
"There have a strong impact to knowledge of preeminence. Mark this timeline to exist, Prompto."
"Like...?"
"The notability relation to why it was established." Ignis prompted.
"And...?" Prompto inducing his friend with questions flooding his mind.
Ignis was lucid of Prompto curiosity. Then again, this is the younger Prompto he's tolerating and wonder to know the scene and concurred to save Noct from darkness plight. It pretty much irks the kid to learn the story demanding to seek more extremity from the advisor sense of prestigious achievement.
In repose, Ignis eloquently replied to his comrade. "The beginning of Caelum. The callings they have to fulfill."
"Whoa... like fate, do they have to abide by force? To this contemporaneous day?"
Ignis observed the lad cautiously. "I do wonder how you harboring this."
"Yeah, uh, does this mean Caelum ancestors, so Ardyn was once human?" Prompto guessed.
It seems like Prompto begins to understand more of the situation. Awfully quiet from Ignis as Prompto caught up the truth. Knowing the fact that Noct is a true King to purge the starscourge from Eos, a life of his. As silent speaks volume, Prompto knew Ignis concurred with no complaints.
It really hurts.
All of the scene they performed—Noctis and his friends. His empathy and selfless nature. Emotionless and loneliness. The beginning of Niflheim... his childhood struggles.
Is meeting Tiny just part of the act? thought Prompto. His frowned deepened, eyes furrowed. He perform a hard mental release by shaking his head a couple of times.
Inhaled and exhaled, but he attempted to conceal his expression despite knowing the truth unravel. He took a deep breath feebly and exhaled. He even wonders...What is a true reason for his existence in the first place?
Agony and pain?
Born to die? It's what most Lucians pledge for the King.
His...brothers and sisters... it was meant to be in a war with Lucis since the beginning?
Even the Astrals that Ignis and Ardyn were involved knew about the Astrals' keen role. Especially this prophecy excelling on Noctis and Ardyn in common. The crystal—once Noct obtained Power of Providence, Ignis explained Noctis propitiate by sacrifice his life to annihilate the Adagium.
Prompto thought Noct meeting Luna was part of the play? Does Ardyn, the Founder King—oracular with the same yeild?
Ignis mentioned Ardyn has a brother, so he was once human. Ignis obtained arcane notation of Lucis. The crystal gave them power before. Pondering hard, what does Noct and his descendant have to do with starscourge and the Crystal? Prompto was part of their pawns of the Astrals? Bahamut, a true threat, foreshadows Ignis beforehand; his destined and its desires, the satisfaction of noble blood—
No. This isn't intended as prognostication. This is him. He loves Noct more like a brother to the universe.
But you need to realize just what you mean to the boys by your side.
Even if they can't solve your problems, you can't hide what's going on from 'em.
Remember—those ain't your bodyguards, they're your brothers.
Trust in 'em. Always.
Cid motivation and reassuring his friends before departing to Altissia. He felt after departing on Royal Vessel, the preternatural of no return. Argentum reminisce the scene where he told him and the others how precious and dynamic they are.
A touching, endearing realization that made Prompto and his comrades have a future unfold.
Prompto clutched the sheet, fingernails dug into the clean white sheet bed. His fathomless brilliant blue eyes staring at the ceiling for a long period of time. The apprehensive of overall mayhem conclude to this present is indeed a pain. He noticed the extended silence was odd, Ignis' eyes were thrown to the sharpshooter stillness and silence.
"Something a matter, Prompto?" Ignis pry his friend.
"Uh huh! So, uh...Why did Gladio have to stay behind?" Prompto prated to change subject, tilting his chin forward and lifting his head to face Ignis.
Ignis was beginning to thread the needle with dark red string and paused as Prompto questioned his plan. The sudden transition from one topic to another, endorsing on the main objective, seems to be intrigued to learn. Ignis sure does his homework, but rather is the undetermined Argentum thinking process. So he answered, facade his sudden switch.
"One of us has to stay behind for Ravus' arrival. We have Glaives present who are unaware of the alliance we created with former commanders of Niflheim; hence, either Gladio or I will remain in post for leadership. As Gladio is better suited for this role, our soldiers from Lucis will perform a 'kill on sight' order." Ignis explained and resumed successfully threading the needle with several attempts.
"Guess that makes sense. I wish there's more Gladio, one with us and—Oh, dude. What happens if we get four Gladio and carry the Tomb wearing suits with that classic music. Four Gladios! Like the meme! Hah! Hil-ari-ous!" Prompto babbled. Sat up and now sitting, legs crossed on the bed, hands rested on his laps. He also slap his right leg for divert comedy.
"Then you must remain vigilant should they attempt to charm Cindy," Ignis unnerved response to satrize his friend, eyeing the patch and matching the color carefully as his friend had a realization occur that Prompto's eyes widened and he grimaced with a haste response.
"...Shit, you're right. I take that back!"
"Take what back?"
The impeccably man they described entered at the end of Prompto sentence, opening the door without warning, and Gladiolus entered as Iris was behind him. The sudden pause Prompto silently stared as Iris waved. Immediately wave the two impulsively.
"Hey, Iris! Good to see you back." Prompto purposefully counters Gladio's questioning and delights in seeing Iris present. Displaying a fake yawn with one eye open to pierce the Amicitias as he ascend both arms into the air.
"Yeah, it seems like it's time for bed, huh?" Iris responded as she approached the king-sized bed and saw Prompto that totally legit intimidated nodded hastily.
"No greetings for me? Hmph. At least I'm noticeable due to my size, kid." Gladio snarled in a teasingly manner while he closed the door and locked. Setting aside his boots near Prompto.
"Well, I mean, I have reasons! Like for one... uh... Oh! Iris, I wanna show you some cool pics from Altissia. Oh maa—aaan! You should've visit at least once!" Prompto immediately changed subject by interjecting Gladio remark and pull out his camera from Armiger load out.
"Ooh! I wanna see!"
"Yeah! Check the gigs I got. There's a priceless drawing, handmade by Altissia resident!" Prompto cheerfully said as Iris launched herself seated beside the blond with curious expression. Prompto began sliding the pictures of various locations in Altissia, Gondola, fishing spot, Foods, Gladiator arena, Luna's dress, alleyway, shopping avenue, fancy restaurant where Weskham works, giant narwhal statue, and more. The glorious view of sea and magnificent building structure excites Iris. Pointing out a few things like Luna dress of how lovely and bright, she would be a wonderful wife for Noct. Yet, she remains composed due to Luna passing. She always keeps her chin up and believes the better outcome Ignis has proposed.
As he browsed through outstanding pictures taken by the one and only photographer Prompto, Gladiolus was briefly irritated and approached Ignis. He seated himself in the available leather armchair, retired his body for the day, and observed his friend. Watching as thread and needle moved through the fabric, guided by Ignis's steady hands. Mending Prompto's clothing to its former glory.
"What'd I miss?" Gladio inquired to the tactician.
"Nothing dire, I suppose," Ignis said flatly, never made eye contact with the Shield. He was keen on not losing focus on keeping their rhythm sewing in sync.
Gladio lift one of his legs and rest on the right leg as a stand and lean back to the chair. Gladio exhaled softly since he and Iris remained post here. Ignis has told him to guide Ravus if he arrives unexpectedly without warning. Viewing Iris the Goofy drawing of them, caught Iris giggling at Noct especially. Now the older Amicita flung his gaze to the younger ones. Iris awed and gaped her mouth briefly to view whatever Prompto displayed in his camera.
After a quiet session of only about three minutes, Amicitia's eyelids began to sag. A long day from morning, reuniting with Prompto and his friends, brunch, and waiting for Cor's arrival until past 10 PM, a sudden outburst from Iris caused her to gasp in surprise.
"Whoa, is that Iggy?! Is that what happened to him?"
Awaken Gladio with his fitful nap from his sister pandermonium and slowly lifting both heavy eyelids in no measurement to make an effort. He eyed Ignis and noticed the tactician halt his sewing, completely frozen in place as the needle halfway penetrated the fabric upon hearing Iris gasping for... unnecessary violation and invading his personal boundary, breaking amendment on his behalf. His rhythmic breathing was quiet and slow, intimidating Argentum. Countering the enemy and out of commission and endangering him and everyone as Prompto would elaborate, the unique opportunity to not let it pass.
Prompto whispers to hush her voice and both immediately flung their gazes to Ignis. Prompto released an awkward grin because Ignis would flip when he had the authority to reveal a top-secret, classified, significant photo of him fending off the Chancellor.
The atmosphere became tense, as the sense of leading disconcert, for Prompto, that is. Ominously staring at Ignis intensively.
Ignis reveals no expression and resumes his sewing. It seems Ignis is dedicated to completing his task, regardless of the situation.
A sudden shift in the air dispersed as Prompto began sharing photos with Iris. His eyes darted from the camera in his hand to Ignis every few seconds. Generally, he was perturb if Ignis will launch at him at any moment.
Close is clear, no sign of retaliation or remark from his friend.
Maybe.
Gladio's eyes flickered to the two on the bed, and Ignis. The change in Ignis from the future had caught the attention of the older Amicitia, who leaned to the left in his armchair.
He whispered, "You've gone too soft."
"I supposed I'm getting soft at my old age," Ignis whispered to reply, exasperated in low fainted tone.
"No kiddin'."

Ignis managed to execute his objective to perform a Prompto outfit in appropriate condition. Merely two hours after the Retainer and Iris slept around 11PM. He eventually surrendered to sleep after he mended his friend's attire with guaranteed quality befitting Noct's standards. He refused to let his close friend be unkempt... but he did, anyway. Ignoring the expensive clothing, he neatly folded into a rectangle and planted to the coffee table. They were separated for a few days when Prompto followed Ignis instructions. He rearranged his sewing kit back into the suitcase quietly and shut off the dimmed night lamp.
He exhaled, clearly exceeding his limit once again. Luckily, Gladio wasn't awake to command him to go to sleep at a proper time. The room was dark, and the only light source was a glowing half-moon piercing through the window. A shadow cast by the balcony metal bars onto the wooden reinforcements on the window made it difficult to see. He tiptoed and sat down on the left side of the bed, across from where Gladio and Iris slept together in comfort.
Ignis removes his spectacles from his face and sets them aside on the nightstand, then moves to his shared side of the bed. He loosens his shoes on the floor beside it and drifts off to sleep.
About 5:30 AM, Ignis managed to wake up from his sleep, despite the tender, yet alleviating himself in the trailer as Gladio and Iris hunt for Gils train Ignis to return his schedule of waking up early before others to prepare breakfast or other routine activities for his fellow comrades.
Eventually, he got up without showing signs of soreness or restraints from his failure. Observing his surroundings, the Amicitia were fast asleep, sensing Prompto behind him dozing. He craned his hand to retrieve the folded spectacles and proceeded to head inside the bathroom to start on his best hygiene and adjust his hair in a proper manner.
In short order, Ignis exited and placed a hand on Prompto's right shoulder. He was curled up beneath the warm Lestallum blanket, groaning softly as he fought to keep his eyes closed. Reluctant to budge, not even the slightest crack appeared in his lashes. He merely shrugged off the touch of whoever tried to disturb his much-needed beauty sleep.
Ignis whispered, "Prompto, wake up." He lightly shook his snoozing comrade's shoulder again, putting more strength into the nudge to make sure he was fully awake.
"Mmm... what. Can't I catch another hour or so? I'm gonna... miss the soft bed..." Prompto groaned and turned his body away and leaned on his right.
"I would like to inform you that we are heading out on an excavation mission with your assistance." murmured Ignis.
"I give."
Ignis released his grip and breathed. Pushing up his spectacles and turning his back on the unreliable friend. "Cindy will be there, and I will spend as much time with her as possible."
Prompto gasped, and his eyes snapped instantly towards Ignis. Leverage himself with both arms. "What?! Don't you even think about laying eyes on her!"
"Shh," Ignis whispered, motioning for Prompto to stay quiet and stand tall. With a book and pen in hand, he approached the door, unlocked it, and gave out a slight creak, barely audible. "Quickly and quietly."
Prompto sprouted from the luxurious mattress foam bed to his feet and spotted his neatly folded attire beside his nightstand. Prompto looks pleased and cheerfully collects his clothing and hustles to the bathroom silently.
As Ignis observed his semi-conscious blond lad arise from his slumber, sprinting and locking himself, he subconsciously checked the keys stored in his pocket. The key to Regalia, but something was amiss. Pondering hardly, usually Noct possess a valuable element to proceed his journey. He was enticed for his preparation, which is the main purpose he does not have.
Perhaps discussing with Cor to remain his vigilant here would be ideal. Maybe he's awake to chat with? To obtain the package that Marshall promised a meeting—
Just until he realized the importance of his business to execute his mission, a voice of deep, exhausting, and friendly low tone has called his first initial. So Ignis turned to the source in swift motion, away from the screeching door gaping hallway of the Leville lobby.
"Gladio,"
Gladio was rising from his bedside, not to disturb his sister sleep. He positioned himself on sitting at the edge of his bed as he met his blurry vision to tactician eyes. Exhaling and rubbing his closed eyelids with right hand.
"Forgot something."
Gladiolus extends his left arm into his nightstand, pulls the drawer, and reveals a key. The main reason he begins his new branch with Ignis. He snatched the key and hurled to Ignis without warning. In instant, Ignis uses his free hand that senses the Regalia key in his inventory and managed to catch it. He examined the key and glared at the Shield.
"How did you acquire this?" Ignis questioned as he whispered.
"Cor from last night. The guy is willing to spend millions of Gils replicating the Tomb Key in case of backup. I know Noct has one of them, which belongs to Cor. Said we also deserve one to bear for our King. In case if Noct loses his."
"Ah... he knows a few traits from Noct, after all. Thank you, Gladio." Ignis assured as he slipped the key into his right front pocket of his jacket.
Amicitia nodded as he laid his back to the bed again and closed his eyes.
At last second, Prompto exited the bathroom, hair spraying, and settled the can on washing bin. Clumsily slapdash his equipment, snagged his shoes, socks on, one foot in the boot, attempting to tug over his heels over to a desirable measurement. Then another. Lean his body to the wall for a boost as he struggled to slide his heel into the boot. Eventually and silently closing the door as he exited.

After leaving Leville and crossing the calm streets of Lestallum, Ignis processed his way to meet up with Vyv, Sania, Dino, and Cindy. Meanwhile, the lass from Hammerhead was also awakened by the same routine as Ignis to go for her morning run around the city. She had prepared herself ahead of time, unlike the breezy mornings in the afternoon hours. The streets were now crowded with residents, but only the few food vendors remained. The aroma of spices wafted into Prompto's nose.
He can not simply skip a delightful street food, and he approaches one vendor for cooked skewer suspending from display.
The vendor shouted aloud, "Get them while they're hot!" to advertise his product.
Prompto pulled his extra Gil from Gladiolus and handed it to the vendor as he pointed out one skewer seasoned with brown sauce, painted, and seared. "I'll take this one!"
"That'll be 10 Gil." the male food vendor said.
As Prompto dug a hand into his pocket, he spotted Ignis from the distance, exiting one of the apartments with Dino, Vyv, and Sania. He pulled out an extra silver coin and considered giving it to his fellow friend.
"Can you make that two on-a-go?"
While Argentum was filling in the details for him and his companion, Ignis filtered through the roles between Vyv and Sania, sorting out their respective responsibilities. Dino, on the other hand, proceeded to meet up on the street where vehicles were parked. Knowing they would be receiving transportation soon. Leaving the two stationary, discussing, and laying out plans on the ground.
"I see, I would advise if the area is safe to secure or hired Hunters and Lucians to defend for transport." Sania said, writing down in her binder with a black pen.
"By all means, your proficiency in saving hundreds of hunters without loss of life. It's easy for Dave to obtain tags for his family members passing." Ignis said, walking across Lestallum Street without weaving through crowds gathering. The street was calm and minor who are awake this time.
"I'll see it for myself. There is no need to rush science." the ecologist said calmly in a sassy tone.
"And the bestiary?"
"Based on my research, there will be a chance of encountering Giants and Wild Coruels, a rare occurrence. The chances are minimal; however, the Tomb itself dispels miasma—reflected through various locations across Eos. I presume." Sania nodded, writing down her findings in her petite black notebook as Vyv observed the city's tranquil atmosphere, devoid of a large number of residents and visitors alike. As Vyv listened to the conversation between Sania and Ignis, he understood the vital principles. As the CEO of his company, he would improve the benefits for his small company.
"Yet, daemons have conquered and disturbed the Sword of the Tall and brought it into Costlemark Tower," Ignis explained, struggling to comprehend how it was even possible for them to achieve such a feat.
Sania raised an eyebrow, meeting Ignis's eyes through his spectacles. "I don't believe my eyes or ears would let me believe what you just said is inexplicable."
"With certainty," Ignis began, maintaining his calm and steady tone as he flipped his notebook forward to page 132 out of 200. The pages contained a mix of recipes, a list of hunter notes left around Eos, and valuable key information about the history of the Tomb itself.
"It is, in fact, true."
Sania was dubious. Through, her study of behavior with bestiary or miasma and daemon in common, that was rather particularly strange. Especially for daemons thirst for living entity that are not affected with scourge.
The big photographer grumbled. "So, how do we get there? Walking? I'm not an explorer or experience hunter if you ask me."
"The King of Lucis's vehicle—the Regalia. You feel lucky riding in something once owned by the king himself," Ignis explained, sealed his notebook and shoved it into his pocket.
Vyv looks elated. "Man, where? I would take some photo shoot if you don't mind."
Ignis gestured to the parking lot across the street. Without hesitation, the big man sped walked towards the Regalia that was parked below.
Sania grinned at Ignis and decided to get a fine glance to the tactician and flung to the fancy royalty car. "Oooh, I can't wait to ride it." She also follows Vyv mere seconds after he sped his way.
Before Ignis could trail his footsteps, he heard a voice calling out his name from the distance. Turning to the source of the sound, he saw a young boy running towards him, holding a spear of tender meat in each hand.
"Yooo Iggy, got some food for you, pal." Prompto said, smiling. He presented kabobs to Ignis - brown, charred meat on a bamboo stick with napkins wrapped around it.
"Thank you, Prompto," Ignis appreciated his comrade empathy and accepted his offer. He could take a few bites but prefers his homemade. Then again, the street foods in Lestallum are wonderful, cheap, and convenient.
Prompto smiled and began devouring his stick, using his bare teeth to pull the meat from the bamboo stick and then swallowing it down. He repeated this process over and over, and they both stood there to finish. It wouldn't be considered polite or have good manners to walk and eat on the street without utensils.
"So," Prompto began, destroyed his stick, and used the clean napkin to wipe grease from his lips and fingers. "I'm gonna call dibs riding with Cindy."
"If you manage to do so without my presence, I'll be astound." Ignis prattled. He finished his stick as well and used the napkin to dab the oils and spices on his lips, too.
The sharpshooter broke his stick in half in satisfaction of pop and grinned. He proceeded to hustle towards Cindy truck, leaving Ignis behind, prancing along the way.
"Race ya there!"
Cindy, surprisingly, had her tow truck purring, waiting for instructions while exercising. She relieve herself and pull her flask filled with water and took few sips. The group of acquaintances gathered around Regalia, with Prompto eagerly chatting with Cindy, preferring to ride with her instead.
The sweetest person like Cindy happily allow her friend to ride the passenger seat.
Dino seated on the public bench, behind him was lively bush of copious plants. Patiently waiting the others as he read the newspaper. He discovered the news of Altissia, fallen of Niflhiem, Hero of Quadin Quay, the end is near. The disappearance of Prince and Oracle was swept away in mother tide upheaval angers the Astral. Without the Oracle, the scourge intensified.
Thanks to Prompto's action stretched out the proof evidently. In reconciliation, he protected the citizens and urge them to communicate their family. Which encourage people to read the newspaper what's to happen next.
Dino mumbled to himself. Gossip does spread like wildfire. He truly cares for everyone safety.
He wonder if Coctura will be alright.
He crumbled the colossal TL;DR written with pictures of Altissia aftermath and Quadin Quay hero press newspaper to a ball with both hands as he caught a glimpse of Sania and Vyv, whose approaching to the fancy car.
Ignis was the last to arrive and waved to Dino, in response, he waved back. Tossing the ball of paper aside the bench. Or litter. He stood up, straightening his back, stretching his back briefly and went beside the vehicle.
After the introduction and warm-up, the group seated inside the Regalia with Ignis as their driver. Dino took shotgun as Sania was behind Ignis and Vyv on her right. The engine was kick started, and they checked the rear view mirrors, ensuring passenger safety, aware of their surroundings for incoming traffic, backed out of the parking spot, and set the driving mode. They allowed Cindy's car to lead the way, then trailed behind. Heading south, they entered the dimly lit tunnel.

Cindy decided to stay behind with her truck as the group strolled through the forest. Tall trees and sunlight left the horizon, leaving only bright morning breezes. Prompto waved at Cindy, hoping she would be safe as he followed the group. Upon reaching their destination, they had trekked through the wilderness and walked on moist earth. Ignis led the way, while Prompto provided cover from behind. They took photos of nature, capturing moments in the middle of nowhere.
The group arrived at the only sacred structure known as Tomb of The Just. Where Noctis had failed to collect his part due to a sequence of events in chaos. Isolated and concealed from civilians, the tomb's canvas was sort of eerie. It was literally located just a few yards away from the road, across the parking lot. Vyv's eyes gleamed in amazement, completely free of debris and untouched by nature outside of the tomb. Sania analyzed the surroundings and admired the view.
Planting their feet on the hallowed sanctuary, the three gathered. Vyv immediately pulled out his camera from around his neck, taking high-quality images. Standing at the platter, he was awestruck by how solitary and pure the grave site appeared. It revealed significance in how the King and Queen of Lucis were a major part of Eos.
Sania examined the structures of both architecture and wilderness alike. The silence seemed to meld with nature as the wind sliced through the air like a knife, leaving only the faintest whisper behind. Dino viewed the tomb in awe. It was truly remarkable. A mysterious figure, featureless save for its long, flowing cloak, stood atop the locked door, catching his attention. This sight was certainly out of the ordinary for such a sacred place.
While the group gathered, the Crownsguard pursued to do a perimeter sweep around the tomb. Splitting up, both their weapon on their grasps, which appeared from armiger, both nodded and raced off.
The sharpshooter scanned behind the resting grounds of the potent oldest kings, while the tactician sought out the front for unwelcome guests. Prompto's hobbies accelerated as he analyzed his surroundings without breaking a sweat. After a hastened trip around the tomb for secured access, Ignis emerged from the tower of trees. The two reconvened at the sacred ground beside the descending staircase to the locked door.
"All clear," Prompto said in a high-pitched voice, meeting up with Ignis. He sprinted to a halt in front of his comrade, who was approaching at a leisurely pace.
Ignis hummed, averting his glance from Prompto to the group. Spotting Vyv is taking clear images from vivid flash of light from his camera. The extra knowledgeable individual steps out of view for snaps. Dino rests his wrists on his hips and grinned while Sania arched her back to present a bow lightly.
Vyv detects the Advisor of Noctis eyes directly at him, and he grinned slightly. "Got the shots."
Curious, Prompto approached the chubby man in a white shirt with a meteor logo on it. He competed with him as well. Well, of course, Prompto pulled his camera out from his magical pocket, which began snapping shots at the center and 60-degree position where Vyv stood. Flexing his photography skills, he added filters to the images.
"Nah, mine is WAY better!" gloated Prompto, added a feature called pop filter. Held his camera both hands, flashing images to the right.
"Kid, these are for hunters and Glaives to help them out." countered Vyv, eyeing the blond unnerved while lowing his camera.
"Hey, now, look, some pictures worth the attention and likes if you actually put love into the work, nay? Remember, guess who took those pictures you requested." Prompto said flatly, throwing both of his thumbs towards himself for adequate incentive goal.
"All right, I stand corrected then. You accepted my offer because you need of gil." Vyv spoke, crossing his huge bulky arm around his chest.
"No, you got it all wrong. It was rational that Noctis agreed, and of course, he rose to the profession of a photographer…which you're looking at right now," Prompto wrangled the situation in a precise summary in a pleasant manner.
Vyv didn't reply after the episode of Prompto dialogue with facts. He was right. He couldn't set a quarrel or vindication when his friends were witnesses. Outwitted by a kid, Vyv shrugged his shoulders and blinked.
"You beat me to the ground, Kid. I like you." Vyv announced, admitting defeat. He was right. The president of the CEO on Photoshoot, he needed help.
Argentum awkwardly smiled, flattered, but not interested. His heart belonged to the Queen of Hammerhead. Before stretching out the debate and reflecting on opinions, his ear perked up at the sound of his name being summoned, causing him to turn his head towards his comrade.
"Prompto, I'd appreciate your company here with me, please," Ignis advised his friend, prompting Prompto to pick up his heels and stroll down the stairs with him.
The first thought collided with Argentum's mind, as he rested his hand on the cold, sturdy metal hand crafted by blacksmiths. A barrier against any unwanted visitors, he turned his back to the door, meeting Scientia's slow and steady pace as she stopped in front of him.
"So uh," Prompto began, throwing his thumb, gesturing the door and free left hand fingering his scalp gently without grazing the hair spray effect. "I know you are on point and counter my opinion, 'If there's a lock door, there exists a key' thing, but yah know, Noct, who sleeping peacefully for heck ten years that you announced and the only person who have the key to access something we don't even have. So how in Eos can we bypass the sanctified shrine without Noct and a key he stored in his flimsy jacket he got?"
Ignis burrowed his eyebrows close, bemused. "Flimsy?"
"Uh, yea, hey Mister inSpector. literally, you have to monitor every scrumptious of Noct teeny weeny dust on our majesty looks. Even he walked into a bush and cut his jacket, revealed one prickly thread sticking out, and you made a fuss over it." Prompto added, joking while grimaced, tiptoed back and forth.
"He's not the only one," Ignis objected and proceeded to examine the locked door with the unique insignia around it. Prompto stood, realizing how much his outfit had changed since they arrived in Altissia. The patches on his vest seemed to match the outer edges perfectly, and the vest was magnificent. It was stitched together with precision and looked far more durable than before.
"Oh, riiiight, right back at ya. Hey, maybe we should've encourage Gladio or drills to penetrate the wall by force—"
There was a sudden metallic screech as the door creaked open, moving at a snail's pace. The door open slowly...very slowly, caught Prompto's attention and his eyes narrowed as he watched it move, trying to keep track of the door's movement and the noise of the concrete rubbing against the door.
"What the...?"
Stuffing the tomb key back into his leather jacket, Ignis swung his foot forward, but he stopped short as his sleeved coat clasped and tightened. He set his foot down, turning his gaze from Prompto's wide-eyed stare to face him directly.
"Is something a matter?"
"How in existence in Astrals did you— dude, you pickpocketed Noct when he tried to save you?!" yelled Prompto, his jaw hanging open and his free arm waving wildly.
"I'd imagine the stimulation that your brain has to offer." Ignis replied indignantly, firm grip from his comrade, shrugging him off softly and give insight of Prompto inquiry with false hopes and infer a valid note. He resumed his pace once more along with Prompto slowly with an appeasing assurance tone.
"No, Cor deposit a spare to Gladio and I, in case Noct loses his."
Prompto gathered his friend's and digest. "Oh. Riiiight. I thought you were...uh reminding me of your handiwork. Then you also got a tomb key that Noct only have... or was it both?"
"Quite."
The two examined the tomb's interior. A wall had mysterious anonymous figures protecting the center of the room appear uncanny. Jade opaque statues stood on either side, wielding the mightiest of intimidating shields. White walls and black obsidian vertical lines met the ceiling. Gold print adorned the front. Surprisingly, the space was relatively spotless.
Astonishing! This is the tomb, the final resting place of the king or queen. Let's be real, just a same result to previous silhouette tombs, but the strange statue show different weapons. It embodies the light, representing the culmination of their journey from superiority to the Shield of the Just.
A huge vertical shield, made of a rare material with the highest integrity of all Lucis. With the spirit design imprinted in the center. It covered him from head to toe. Prompto had picked it up from his head and toe of how large the shield is.
"Tickle me with chocobo feather, look at that size of that shield! The dude who owns this as his favorite primary to slay and smack Daemons like wet towel! Or even chuck down a Giant with that humongus jibby!" Prompto flabbergasted a very long shield. He was enticed the beauty of this monstrous defensive gear of Lucis bloodline. The blond tiptoed around the opposite side of Ignis.
Ignis was dumbfonded. The shield was insanely large to carry. Pondering, nonplus, how such a feasible owner can drag around the royal arms.
"That he is a she, Prompto, a finest Queen of Lucis." Ignis stated, his left arm wrapped around his abdomen and right index finger curled up to rest his chin.
Prompto snaps his head quickly to Ignis, bewildered and back to the shield a couple of times. His mouth gapes briefly before closing to begin his speech without thinking. His eyes widen as he gazes upon the magnificent sight of the royal arms and back to his friends a couple of times.
"A–what and what carry smaller than Gigantuar around?" Baffled Prompto. Staggered the result from a female Lucis who possesses this?
"The Queen who was devoted to peace and love by many people." Ignis said, notable on his research back with Talcott during the everlasting darkness at his timeline.
"Just like you?"
"Inadequate, but bits of partial accurate descriptions."
"Like Ma', for example."
This time, Ignis failed to conceal his expression, and he was visibly annoyed with Prompto's neutral gaze. Prompto laughed in response. Ignis' expression shifted from serious to peevishly disapproving when confronting Argentum's response. His reaction was capricious, given Prompto's shenanigans; the blond crossed his bare arms, resting them on his chest, as he questioned the advisor's knowledge of the situation.
"So, she's like a pacifist?"
Ignis rose to the shield. He gently placed his left palm on it, sliding his fingers across the smooth surface of the rare material. His eyes carefully examined the platter, assessing its durability and coldness to the touch.
"I did philosophy with Talcott during an era when I was originally from. The understanding of the perception of human history. So yes, she is." Ignis coherently explained.
"A queen who uses her power to defend. Cool! It's kinda sick to not kill anything." Prompto calmly said, eyeing the shield. He was captured by every past monarchs of Lucis.
"Indeed."
"The good question is, how the crappies are we going to detach the shield from the Tomb without vandalizing the Tomb itself? It's like we're grave robbers." Prompto's voice grew louder as he stood with one hand resting on his hip and his other hand gesturing towards the tomb. His voice bounced against the small room. Underneath, the Tomb was firmly holding onto the shield. They were in quite a predicament.
"Your guess is good as mine."
"Filled with wanderlust every day, I wake up to see the glorious new dawn. Hmm..." Prompto drifted off, gazing deeply into extraordinary details. Arching his back underneath to see the unique concrete tightly built handle suspending the shield.
"A well-versed individual who had built the tomb to a secluded location and performed a proper funeral was none other than Kings and Queens. During my era, I simply could not view it, but I was aware that Lucian and Hunter had reunited and collected the tombs. In some cases, they were built as testaments to the true king's reign." Ignis explained, his left hand still resting on the shield.
"Is that so? Huh. So, do you think we can magically huzzah it without damaging the figure?" Prompto asked the tactician with eyes filled with wonder and doubt, straightening his arms out to his side flatly.
"Seeming a plausibility if we attempt to do so. We are Crownsguard, liege to our King."
"Or..." Prompto begins his suggestion. "We can just get the whole coffin. Ahem...'Hey Noct, the boys like us were really stoked to say that we got you a welcoming gift...the entire Tomb with Royal arms attached!'" Prompto voice risen with sarcasm as he gestured expensively at the coffin.
"Erm...well, heedful to say wouldn't be wise. But we have no other choice."
In short, the lad begin ponders the maelstrom of questions from Ignis left unanswered. Not only does Ignis mention twice, but he cannot see into his own future. He has not revealed the transpire of his journey. Knowing Ardyn's goals and his eventual outcome within their timeline. Eventually, it will all come to pass at the end. If Ignis chooses to willingly share his burden.
Argentum proceeded to mimic Ignis action by adjusting his right palm to the shield to a pause. "You betcha' I'm right. So I wonder if we get Cindy—"
His words were interrupted as the shield began to slide. Heavy and unbalanced, it nearly toppled over to Ignis' side. Immediately using both hands to latch onto the rim of the shield, he half-kneeled to propel the sudden release. Prompto's sense of awareness was quick, and he grasped the shield before it could crush his friend's feet. Leaning forward, he plunged his entire body over the tomb to spare Ignis.
Have the two Crownguard realized the Shield of the Just phase?
"What on magical Eos tarnation?" Prompto enigmatic stared, heaving and gasping for air as he held the shield. The shield itself wasn't difficult to wield, but the actuality of what they were facing was daunting.
Especially the tactician eyes widen, mystifying confound the action. Ignis rises to straight his legs and remains at his stance to get ahold of it. The two steadily the defensive strong shield.
"Prompto, get to the end and hold it steady," the blond staggered a bit, but he obeyed and motioned to the selected area, while his hands grasped tightly. In doing so, Ignis reflected the action on the opposite side.
"On three..."
"One..." Ignis counting the number slowly as the two carefully positioned themselves so they won't injured each other.
"Two..."
"Three!"
Simultaneously, the two use their strength to lift the shield. Prompto huffed as Ignis sucked his breath in locked. Together, over the tomb, Prompto took the lead and exited the entrance with Ignis along. Ascending carefully on steps, elevating the shield. In seconds, the three bolted to the shield and saw the unique shield once belonging to Lucis.
Vyv took a couple of pictures, while Prompto decided to flex. In contrast, he detached his grip from the shield as it began to tip and immediately grabbed ahold of it.
"Eyes forward." called Ignis.
"My bad."
Sania approaches, eyes glean in delight and smile across her face. "What an extraordinary sight to see."
Dino rises to the front side, gesturing the shield. "Need a lil' hand here?"
"Hell no!" Prompto objected, his face expressing heavy glare of menace.
They scurried through, their red soles reaching the silt-covered road. They carefully navigated the inclined, grungy road. Dino stood, lifting both shoulders, his expression one of disbelief and confusion.
Ignis passed by and halted, meeting the jewel expert face-to-face, whose left in the dark. "Perhaps he wasn't fond of you taking matters into your own hands."
"Really?"
"Ignis," Prompto interrupted their chitchat through his gritted teeth, clenching them as he spoke. "C'mon, no time to tell him anything."
Ignis didn't argue and resumed to stroll with his important equipment in possession to the Regalia. After traveling at a certain distance, they finally arrived in Regalia with Cindy parked beside it. She spotted the boys treading their way towards her direction. She walked to the trunk of Regalia, released a mechanical click, and lifted the hood above her head.
"Y'all sumthin'. Paw-Paw really taught you how family matters that y'all go all the way for little prince."
"I know, right? 'Preciate the hand, Cindy!" Prompto eagerly cheered as the two tiptoed to the two managed to position the shield at the right angle to shove it with caution. Releasing their firm grips, the young lad launched upward, perplexing the situation at their hands. Then, his eyes shot to the shield.
"My, aren't those the little prince newest weapon to keep? A big ol' shield for him to squabble 'round with?" Cindy inquiry.
"Naaaaaahh, he got the power of Kings. Ehh. heh..." He trailed off, looking at Ignis now after realizing only the bloodline can obtain such strength. Only the King can extract or insert the Royal Arms or higher ranks, which stupefy the two.
"Come to think of it, how are we able to remove it from there?"
"It was rather phenomenal how the Royal Arms phased through the tomb. It has to do with something we do not bear in mind." Ignis stated, extending his height to grab the hood and slamming it down to close it completely.
"I dunno what's sketchy," Prompto began, squinting his eyes as he glared the blue skies above, casting a petite shade using his hand position on his forehead. "That or a gigantic ship that belongs to Imperials heading towards Lestallum direction?"
Ignis glanced over to Prompto's face as he directed his gaze upwards. He could hear his friend conversation and saw Cindy staring up at the vast sky covered by clouds. Now, they were witnessing an opening of a baby blue expanse where clouds had been sliced in half. The ship was rapidly approaching Lestallum.
If Ravus arrives early without notice, he is most likely a target, onslaught for Glaives to invade the craft without leadership to control them. Fleuret scheduled an evening or possible afternoon. The Glaives would kill the High Commander, saving Noctis and his friends. The last line of the Oracle.
Just as he calculated his prediction had become reality, a blur of blue flashed and clung beside the ship. Several of them, actually. "Prompto! Call Gladio right this instant! I'm heading back to Lestallum!" Ignis exclaimed urgently.
"Righty-ho! I'll stay here with Cindy and the others." Prompto said, dialing the number on his phone. Cindy studied the boys in a rush, approaching Prompto curiously.
Spotting the blue flash from afar, it was unsettling. Ignis brought the Regalia's engine to life, shifting into reverse and driving away in mere seconds.
The Lucians began their assault.
AN— Time to write another long paragraph for underrated upcoming character in the next chapter. I like writing long because I enjoy details.
