In the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog, there are countless tales that have been spread throughout the ages. Tales of triumph over a virus, of overcoming hardship and loss. And even tales of facing down a God. But all of these tales have one thing in common… They all connect back to a singular entity. The hero of Mobius… Sonic. In this tale, we will be looking at a proposed future into the life of Sonic, after a great battle with his most mortal enemy, Dr. Ivo Robotnik, in which the tyrant was put to rest for good. Twenty five years have passed since that battle, Sonic and Sally have tied the knot as they married under holy matrimony; during the years of peace, their marriage brought in a union between the Kingdom of Snow and the Kingdom of Acorn, reforming the kingdoms as the Frozen Acorn Kingdom Alliance, or as Sonic calls it 'FAKA'; through Sally's diplomatic approach to proceedings, she orchestrated the 'Mobius Land Reconstruction Project' to recreate the land of Mobius using the United Federation's artificial islands idea on top of the inspiration of using Angel Island as a base. This resulted in the creation of multiple floating islands in the sky, the Frozen Acorn Kingdom Alliance getting one of the largest islands. And finally, the birth of a healthy young child, a daughter named…

Sally: "Speed! Dinner time!"

An adult Sally Acorn is seen in the dining hall of the newly built castle. Though she dresses just as casually as her younger self, blue jacket, dark blue shorts, and a white sleeveless undershirt, she did care an air of authority - one she rarely used unless it was urgent. In this case, she had no shame using her authority for rebellious teens. She sighed in frustration before calling guards to find her daughter.

Sally: "Ugh… Right at dinner time too… Does she ever give up?"

Sonic: "Did we ever give up when we were her age?"

Sally darts her eyes to the table as she sees her husband, Sonic the Hedgehog himself, looking virtually the same as his teen self, even wearing the same style of shoes as before. The only big difference was his height. Sally turns to fully face Sonic.

Sally: "No, but those were different times. Speed should understand that-"

Sonic: "-that her role as princess carries a lot of weight and responsibility, and that she'll one day rule the kingdom. You sound so much like my own mom that I swear you two had more in common than me and she did."

Sally: "Well, you know I'm right. Speed needs to learn…"

Sonic: "True, true. But she's still a young girl. Let her live a little."

Sally crosses her arms as she starts tapping her foot. Sonic's cool demeanor started to shake a bit as he knew what that meant.

Sonic: "I know exactly where she went. Excuse me."

And just like that, Sonic speeds out the room, with Sally looking at where he left. She then changed from serious to relaxed.

Sally: "...I say I'm right, but… You're right too… She is a growing girl… And I do think our trip will help her grow into a better person…"

Meanwhile, within a dark room, a feminine figure was seen gathering some of her belongings and placing them in a backpack - a gaming device, some snacks, and a deck of trading cards. She then peered outside her window before jumping once the coast was clear, landing in some bushes. The bright sun reveals a light blue hedgehog with a feminine figure, dressed in a red jacket and a pair of matching sweatpants. A tuft of red hair, similar to Sally's own hair, was fixed as the girl got leaves off of her. Her quills were similar to Sonic's, though longer and pointing downward. As she unzipped her jacket, a white t-shirt with Sonic's logo on the front could be seen. As she pulls her backpack from the bushes she starts to make her way off of the castle grounds. Only to bump into… Sonic.

Girl: "Oof! Hey, watch it, buu… uh?"

Sonic: "...So. Where might you be going, Speed?"

Speed: "(Crap…) Um… I'm just… taking a walk, Dad… I wasn't hungry, so I figured I could-"

Sonic: "Sneak out of the castle and go visit Milly, I assume?"

Speed: "W-Well… Uh…"

Speed was nervously sweating as she takes a step back. She then tried to run from Sonic, but was caught by him, showing that even though she inherited most of his looks, she didn't have his speed.

Sonic: "You really shouldn't make your mom angry. Not unless you enjoy being grounded."

Speed: "But Daaad… Being a royal sucks… I want to go have fun, like normal kids… But…"

Sonic: "I know, I know. Trust me, kiddo. I was much the same at your age. But sometimes life isn't how you want it to be. Not always…"

Speed: "Well, still…"

Sonic places Speed back on the ground before putting a hand on her head, ruffling her hair.

Sonic: "Look, we have a scheduled trip to Angel Island tomorrow… And I'd rather not miss it. So how about this? You be a good girl and not cause me or your mom any more stress, and I'll… uh…"

Speed: "Would you… be willing to tell me the story of how you and Mom ended the Eggman Wars? I have been curious about it."

Sonic stared at Speed before awkwardly sighing. If this was the only way to keep Speed in line for a while, then so be it.

Sonic: "Alright. But let me talk to Sally first. Since… Despite our victory and what came of it… It's still a bitter pill to swallow…"

Speed was starting to have second thoughts, but before she could take back the request, she and Sonic were off to the dining room.

A very patient Sally waited for Sonic and Speed as the food was already served to the table. Once the duo of hedgehogs arrived, she opened her eyes.

Sally: "You two took your lovely time, 'fastest in the world'. Any longer and I'd have to send the guards to find you too."

Sonic: "What? I thought you liked it when me and Speed bonded."

Sally: "There are better times, you know. Besides…"

Sonic approached Sally, pulling her aside before they spoke just out of earshot. Sally was told of what the duo spoke of just outside, to which the queen was shocked but understood. The weight of her prodding led to Speed really reconsidering her actions, but she did sit down and waited for her parents to return. And they did, sitting down with some… awkward silence.

Sally: "So-"

Speed: "I-I don't want to know!"

If the silence wasn't awkward before, it got very awkward now from that sudden outburst. Speed cleared her throat.

Speed: "S-Sorry… I… um… I changed my mind about wanting to hear how… you and Dad… uh…"

Sally: "No no. I do think you need to hear this. Though I prefer it wasn't used as a bargaining chip just for you to behave… We don't mind telling the story. After all, this peace would not be possible without… her sacrifice…"

Sonic ate his food in silence, a somber look on his face. Speed felt bad, since this was clearly not a memory they'd rather not experience. But after Sally drank her glass of water…

Sally: "The Eggman Wars started just after Dr. Eggman captured my old Kingdom of Acorn, capturing the then rulers of the higher kingdoms of the world as a demonstration of his power. Me and Rosie fought against the menace in our home turf, but our efforts were ultimately made null. But we were lucky that a guardian angel was watching us."

Sonic: "Eggman's own older sister, Jennifer Robotnik, who has her own story related to him, saved Sally and became one of our greatest allies, providing us with food, shelter, a base of operations from her own manor, and even contacts that could turn the tide. And that was on top of her already vast intelligence that rivaled Eggman's own. The problem though… was that she had a then incurable disease…"

Sally: "Heh… Looking back, she kept that detail vague when discussing it with us on purpose, just so we wouldn't worry. She was walking at death's door daily, yet she worried over us more than herself. Despite our rocky introductions, she made a lasting impression on us all."

Sonic: "Anyway, me, Sally, and a group of our friends formed the Freedom Fighters, a group dedicated to stopping Robotnik. We stopped him and his minions time and time again until the day to turn the tide came. During that time, we had just finished a mission over at Meropis… Team Freedom, led by Sally, got side tracked by an S.O.S. from Lam and Mighty. Though that mission went about as well as expected, she made a very devastating discovery… Eggman's biggest attack yet…"

The room grew cold as Sonic and Sally began to truly remember the terror of that day and what kind of threat Eggman posed had they not destroyed him for good back then… Speed listened intently, nervous to hear the outcome of the battle…

To be continued…
