Confession Is Good For The Soul Ch 11
As the family walked into the dining room Fran smiled and said, "soooo, what would the newlyweds like to do first, would you like to have your first dance as husband and wife?", Penelope looked at Derek and smiled, he then said, "yes momma, we'd like that, I love having my wife in my arms". Penelope blushed and said, "same here angelfish, same here", Fran winked at her son and then grabbed the remote for the sound system, Derek had picked out a song late yesterday evening while everybody else was busy doing other things, he wanted the song to be a surprise for his new bride.
Fran hit play and Penelope looked up at her husband and said, "what song did you pick?", he tapped the end of her nose and said, "wait just a second and you'll see", she stood there for a few seconds before the words for All Of Me by John Legend started filling the air, she grinned and said, "that's perfect". He wrapped his arms around her and said, "I thought so too baby girl, I thought it would be perfect for our first dance song", seconds later they started dancing their way across the large empty living room.
Earlier today Fran and the girls had arranged for somebody to clear out the furniture in the living room so that they could use it for a dance floor, Fran stood watching her son and new daughter in law dance with a smile on her face, it looked so good to see them both so happy. Dave walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her and said, "love looks good on them doesn't it?", she relaxed in his arms and said, "that it does Dave, that it does", Dave then took her by the hand and led her to the dance floor.
Next Hotch and Emily joined the newlyweds and then finally JJ and Reid leaving Sarah, Desi, Jack and Henry to stand and watch, all Jack and Henry could do was stand and laugh while Sarah and Desi thought that everybody looked amazing as they snapped picture after picture of all of the dancing couples. After the first dance was over the family headed through the house to the dining room, when they saw how beautifully decorated it was Penelope said, "wowwwww, this is beautiful, you have gone all out for us, thank you so much Fran".
Fran said, "you are very welcome honey, you're my daughter now and we want you to always feel welcome here and know that we love you", Penelope hugged her mother in law and said, "I love you too Fran and I always feel loved and very welcome here in your home". Dave said, "that's a good thing kitten because we want you to think of our home as yours", Penelope grinned and said, "thank you papa bear", Derek intertwined fingers with her as he led her toward the table.
When everybody was seated Dave said, "I would like to propose a toast", the family raised their glasses as Dave said, "welcome to the family Penelope, you are a breath of fresh air, you are one of the few people that totally knows and understands that man that you married". Derek grinned and nodded his head yes in agreement because every word that Dave had just said was definitely the truth because nobody would ever or could ever understand him like his baby girl and his momma.
Dave continued by saying, "the two of you have been destined from the start and now, here, today, we welcome you into the family with open arms", he smiled at Penelope and said, "to the bride and groom, may they have an amazing life together and get everything they have ever wanted out of life". The BAU family all smiled and said, "to the bride and groom" in unison before taking a sip of their drinks as they toasted the bride and groom, when the toast was over everybody started filling their plates with the delicious food that Fran and the girls had worked so hard on.
Over the next few hours, they ate, laughed, danced, danced and danced some more, soon it was time for the bride and groom to cut the cake, Fran wheeled the cake out on a cart, it was a 3 tier cake, it was beautiful, the cake was a huge fountain and going up the sides of the cake wa a set of stairs and at the top of the staircase stood the bride and groom. Penelope said, "ohhh Fran it's so beautiful, thank you so much, I love it", Derek said, "me too momma, this must have took you quite a while to fix?", she said, "it did but seeing the smiles on the faces of my son and new daughter in law shows me that it was time well spent".
Derek and Penelope then put their hand on the knife and slid it through a piece of cake, they then put said piece in a saucer and each took a bite of cake in their fingers and gently fed it to the other person, then shared a kiss before smashing the rest of the cake in each others faces. Jack and Henry thought that was the funniest thing that had ever seen and laughed till they almost cried as they watched Derek and Penelope as they tried to wipe and kiss off the cake and icing off of each others faces.
A little while later Derek danced with his mom, sisters, JJ and Em while Penelope danced with Reid, Dave, Hotch, Jack and Henry before making her way back to her husband for one final dance before they said their good nights and headed to casa Morgan for the night. They had decided to wait a while to take their honeymoon, they would take the weekend now and then go on a honeymoon later, here they were didn't matter to either of them, the only thing that mattered was that they were together, they were finally married and nothing or nobody was ever gonna change that.
As they rain toward their waiting car their family was chasing after them tossing birdseed and laughing, they stood watching and waving as the happy couple pulled away from the front of the house and as they disappeared Fran whispered one final time, "congratulations" before turning around to rejoin the others as the celebration continued a little while longer before the family cleaned up and headed home for the night after a long and tiring day.
