They are gonna be good friends since Sona doesn't bother Naruto like Rias does, but that is him being picky. I know, I am happy I added the Fire Rat clothing, it should help Koneko from being stripped naked all the time.

Chapter 35: Ready, GO!
One Week Prior, Lucifer's Castle…
Sirzechs spun his chair to look out the window, a large pile of paper in his hand.
Each one having a picture of a candidate for the upcoming Supernova challenges.
'Guts Naberius, Justin Law, Pamela Isley, Naruto Bael, Yuuto Kiba, Tsubaki Shinra, Sai Kurozumi…' Sirzechs thought as he looked through, recognizing these seven names.
Sirzechs had confidence in them, a smile on his face as he thought of the possibilities the challenges could offer the youngsters.
Hespun in his chair to face his desk.
'I should call Serafall and check on the progress her team is making.' Sirzechs thought as he absentmindedly stamped the papers for approval before hegrabbed his phone, selecting his speed dial.
*RING, RING, RING, CLICK*
"Hello, Sirzechs, how is it going~" a youthful, bubbly voiced Serafall greeted.
"Very well, Serafall, how is the project going?" He asked sincerely.
"Well, the plants are growing very well, just like the Zagan clan said they would…"
"Would you mind if I came and helped?" He said, glancing at his desk.
Vile paperwork seemed to have tripled.
"Well, if you have time…"
"I'm there." He said as his magic formed a teleporting seal… which was canceled out by Grayfia's own magic seal.
"My Lord." She said strictly as she entered his office, pushing a cart with tea and desserts. "You can not leave until your finished…"
Sirzechs groaned as he hung up.
'I'll never finish… when is Rias going to take this position…' He mentally whimpered as he got back to his paperwork.
One Week Later, Phenex Mansion…
"Kami-e!" Koneko declared as Naruto used Shigan: Madara.
Her body contorted like paper as she evaded Naruto's Shigan strikes.
Naruto smiled as Koneko successfully dodged most of his attacks, getting hit on her sides.
'Thank Satan she is a Rook, or else she'd be seriously hurt.' He thought before he stopped. "Alright, take five."
Koneko collapsed to the ground, her breathing labored with sweat beading on her forehead.
Naruto sat next to her, smiling further when Loona the Hellhound jumped into his lap, snuggling into him.
"So… you gonna tell me what is bothering you?" Koneko asked as she looked at him.
"Not really bothered, just…" Naruto said as he ran his hands through Loona's fur. "I got this letter saying I am invited to participate in the… Supernova Challenges."
Koneko's eyes widened.
"Oh, are you going to do it?" She asked with anticipation.
"I don't think so…" Naruto said as he looked at her. "I called Sairaorg, and he said it was just a title."
"Just a title?" Koneko asked as she feigned being insulted. "Being given this opportunity is a great way to show your skill to the Satan's, Naruto. The Title of Supernova is given to Reincarnated Devil's who show great promise. This could make you a Mid-Class Devil."
Naruto looked at the ground, absentmindedly rubbing his hands through Loona's fur.
"I don't know…" He said as he felt this pressure on his shoulders.
Koneko wanted to press further, but decided it would be best to wait.
"Oh, that reminds me." Naruto said, perking up as his smile returned.
He made a shadow clone, which ran up the side of the mansion's wall and entered his room, coming out seconds later with a package in his hands.
"Here." The clone said, handing the package to Koneko before it popped.
"What is it?" She asked giddily.
"The clothing I ordered for you." Naruto said sheepishly as Koneko opened the package, Loona perking her head up.
Koneko's eyes became bewildered as she held up the clothes.
Inside, was a mostly red, black and white battle kimono, with the Gremory symbol on the chest in black. It had a black obi with gold leaves on it. It had a small skirt that if Koneko wore it, it would go to her knees. There were even thigh high socks with wooden sandals painted black with thick red string for the toe holder.
"Its… it's beautiful…" Koneko said in amazement, dumbfounded for words.
Naruto bashfully rubbed his head with a goofy expression.
"Glad you…"
"I'm going to try it on, stay right here!" Koneko said in excitement, jumping to her feet as she ran inside.
Naruto lay on the grass, Loona taking this opportunity to lay on his torso.
He patted the hellhound's head, earning a smile as they just relaxed with nature.
Their ears eventually perked when they heard the clink of wood sandals on the ground.
Naruto sat up as the back door opened.
Koneko was wearing the battle kimono, with three small additions.
First, her hair was pulled back into a tight short pony tail, leaving the hair around her face to frame it.
Two, her tanto blade was tucked into the obi, allowing her to use the blade if necessary.
Three, on her arms were her White Tiger Gauntlets, which contrasted heavily with the red of her outfit.
Naruto's heart skipped several beats.
While he would always say white suited Koneko much more, red was probably a close second.
"Well~" she said as she spun on her foot, accidentally flashing Naruto her panties when she flourished.
"Gorgeous…" was all Naruto could say.
Koneko smiled, blushing deeply.
She covered her face with her hands.
"R-really?" She asked, trying to hide her excitement. "Thank you…"
Naruto felt his heart race at how cute Koneko was being.
"I can't wait to show this to Gasper." Koneko said, just giddy over how functional and cute her outfit was.
"Wait, whose Gasper?" Naruto asked, never having heard of him before.
"Oh, Gasper is Rias's Bishop, he is very strong." Koneko said as she continued to smile, head in cloud nine. "But he was sealed away because his power is uncontrollable. He is a nice guy, even cute."
"How so?" Naruto asked in a saddened tone, imagining a muscular pretty boy.
"He is timid and likes to wear girls clothing." Koneko explained.
She expected Naruto's eyes to bug out and him to panic… though he let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, he is a cross dresser, Neat." Naruto said with a smile, 'wiping' his forehead.
"Aren't you surprised?" Koneko said in confusion.
"No, I grew up around Crossdressers." Naruto explained as he pulled out his phone and showed her a picture of the women of Kamabakka.
"Oh, right, them." Koneko said with an irritated look.
"You okay?" Naruto asked as he put his phone away. "Also, when can I meet this Gasper?"
"I don't know, ask Rias!" Koneko said aggressively with fire in her eyes. "Let's continue our training."
"Sure." Naruto said as he got up, Loona whimpering as he did.
They spared for another hour, Naruto focusing on teaching Koneko Kami-e properly.
The duo stopped when the sun started to set.
"Come on." Naruto gasped as he lowered his arms. "Let's go get dinner…"
"Hey…" Koneko mumbled as she walked up to him. "Take the challenge."
"You still on that?" Naruto asked, deadpanning slightly.
"Naruto, if you do it, win or lose," Koneko got really close, her voice going from normal to a whisper. "I'll let you grope my breasts."
Naruto flinched.
He felt his body heat up, imagining himself touching Koneko with permission.
Koneko glanced down, seeing a small tent in Naruto's pants.
"Is that a no?" Koneko asked, frowning slightly with a pout mixed in, trying not to smirk as she knew she was winning.
"No, I'll do it!" Naruto announced. 'What the fuck am I saying?'
Koneko giggled.
"Alright, let's go get food." Koneko said, taking Naruto's arm and guiding him into the manor.
Night…
"You recommended me without my permission." Naruto said as he walked around his room, preparing to go to sleep.
"I know," Sairaorg replied on the other end. "I should have asked, but you would have said no."
"Of course, I would." Naruto replied as he jumped onto his bed, facing the ceiling, phone in hand. "I didn't train my ass off to just show them off like parlor tricks."
Sairaorg nodded.
"Yes, I'll make a note to the Satan's and inform…"
"I'm going to do it." Naruto cut him off.
"You will?"
"Yes, because you are my King, and you must feel like I will excel, right?" Naruto responded, raising his hand to pet Kurotama when she jumped up on the bed.
"I do have high expectations," Sairaorg admitted, chuckling since he was caught red handed. "But I will be proud of you, even if you don't achieve the title of Supernova."
Naruto smiled, letting go of the breath he was holding.
"Alright, I'll hold you to that…" Naruto yawned. "Night, Sairaorg…"
"Night, Naruto."
Meanwhile, ?…
Riser kneeled before his mentor.
They were within a deep cavern at the base of a mountain.
Rain could be heard from the mouth of the cave.
"Have you come to your decision?" Zuko asked his pupil, blowing on his tea before gingerly sipping it.
"Yes, my master." Riser said as he kneeled deeper. "I thought about your offer, to gain your power I must kill you…"
Riser raised his head, conviction in his eyes as he stared at Zuko's back.
"And I refuse."
Zuko let out a hearty laugh.
"What's so funny, Master?" Riser asked in confusion.
Zuko stood up, smiling brightly on his aged face.
"You pass."
"What?"
Zuko laughed again at Riser's utter confusion.
"If you had come to kill me, you would not be here right now, Young Riser." Zuko said as he held up his hand, engulfing it in fire. "I would have sent you packing."
"So… I did it… I get to…"
"Yes…" Zuko said as he took a stance, arms extended with his index fingers out.
He arched his arms in a circle, movements precise and sharp.
The flames cracked into lighting.
Skip, Weekend…
Naruto sat with Ravel and her peerage along with Sona and Rias's peerages.
Sai Kurozumi, Danjuro Tobita, and Vulcan.
Yuuto Kiba, Koneko Toujo, and Akeno Himejima with Gasper Vladi being sealed in the Old School Building.
Tsubaki Shinra, Tomoe Meguri, Tsubasa Yura, and Reya Kusaka.
The three Kings sat before each other, the members of their peerages behind them respectively, with Naruto beside Ravel.
"I have nominated Tsubaki Shinra for the Supernova Challenges." Sona announced, making her Queen blink in surprise.
"I have nominated Yuuto Kiba for the Super Nova Challenges." Rias stated, much to Kiba's shock.
"I have nominated Sai Kurozumi for the Supernova Challenges." Ravel mentioned, with Sai only quirking his eyebrow slightly from interest.
"Sairaorg Bael has nominated me, Naruto Bael, for the Supernova Challenges." Naruto said calmly, hands in his pockets.
The three Kings smiled, holding up magic paper seals, in Ravel's case, she held two.
"Well, then." Sona stated with a proud smile, looking each of the candidates in the eyes. "I wish all of you the best of luck."
"Do your best." Ravel chirped.
"We will throw a party when you return." Rias stated as all the pieces of paper started to glow.
Naruto, Kiba, Tsubaki, and Sai blinked.
They were no longer with the peerages, but instead in a massive grove with the Satan's.
Sirzechs Lucifer.
Serafall Leviathan.
Ajuka Beelzebub.
Falbium Asmodeus.
"Alright, the rest of you are here." Sirzechs said with a smile.
Naruto looked around, seeing sixteen other competitors.
The only one he recognized was Guts.
He was talking to a pale blonde man who was surprisingly wearing a priest like outfit.
"Yes, Justin, I will keep an eye on you for Sabo." Guts reassured as he looked behind Justin to see Naruto. "Hey, Naruto…"
"Guts, do you know what is going on?" Naruto asked, splitting from the group to mingle.
Before Guts could answer, Serafall cleared her throat.
"Well, hello-yello and good morning to all." She said very chipperly, striking a cute pose. "Welcome, all, too the Supernova Challenges. Please form up in a line so we may proceed?"
The twenty reincarnated devils did as ordered, standing in single file before the Satan's.
Sirzechs stepped forward.
"If you may not know, the Supernova challenges are a special event that is not broadcasted to the entirety of the Underworld." He explained with a soft smile. "It is for reincarnated devil's to show their own skills in challenges we, the Satan's, take time to create."
Many of the young Devil's shifted.
"We don't show these challenges off because it is only for us to decide who is granted this title or not." Ajuka stepped in, being calm and stoic. "We look for many things: strength of body, strength of mind, strength of will, things that make a great devil."
"I must also say that killing a fellow candidate is banned, but engaging in combat is allowed." Falbium added, yawning loudly.
"And to top it off, those who excel are potentially given a rank boost, so those who are Low-Class can become Mid-Class." Serafall stated, unable to contain her excitement. "I look forward to seeing how all of you perform this year."
"Excuse me…"
"Yes, Guts?" Sirzechs replied.
"I am already a King," Guts stated, concern on his face. "Isn't it unfair to my fellow candidates and a waste of your time to judge my performance?"
Sirzechs chuckled and put his hand on Guts' shoulder.
"As we said earlier, we want to see what the best Reincarnated Devil's can do." He said, before his face became serious. "Pure Blood Mania is still strong in our society, many current marriages are made because of this… obsession with blood purity after we lost so many of the original seventy-two families. After many decades of seeing reincarnated devils get pushed down, we created this opportunity for them to show that they can also become great."
Many of the participants nodded, understanding Lucifer's statement.
Many knew first hand how cruel the older generation was, with how obsessed to fanaticism over blood purity in the remaining purebloods.
"Now," Sirzechs said, returning to a cheerier tone as he waved his hand, summoning a massive table. "Please, present any and all weapons and gear."
Confusion ran through all twenty candidates.
But they obliged.
Guts placed his prosthetic arm, his sword, and armor on a table.
Sai summoned his Ink Dweller, putting some provisions and other useful tools that he had in a pouch on the table.
Tsubaki placed her naginata on the table.
Naruto put Yubashiri and Shigure on the table, hesitant to leave them in the open, but he put a few other equipment he had on the table.
Kiba had nothing to add, but summoned a sword with Sword Birth.
Justin just stood there, music blasting in his ears.
Many more candidates were Sacred Gear users, summoning what they were and holding onto them.
Once all the gear was placed, Falbium started to look at and investigate them all, as Ajuka studied each and every Sacred Gear.
After a lengthy process, the Satan's finished their final preparation.
"Now," Serafall stated while all the gear was still on the table. "We are ready to start."
She snapped her fingers.
A GIGANTIC magic circle full of her magic covered the entire meadow.
The young devils watched as a hedge maze appeared, with them at the center of a rectangle that had twenty openings before their gear started to glow with magic, before they vanished.
"What is going on? What did you do with our stuff?" one candidate asked, his tone aggressive, but still VERY respectful toward the Ruler's of the Underworld.
"This," Ajuka stated calmly. "Is this years Challenge."
"Survival Maze Escape." Falbium stated unenthusiastically.
"I'll explain." Serafall announced, doing another pose.
She cleared her throat and gestured toward the maze.
"Plain and simple: You will pick an entrance, go through the maze, and return to the center, Here, in one week's time." She announced. "You start with no gear, and since the gear we checked has been sorted and placed within the labyrinth, you must find gear even if it isn't your own and use it to fight monsters we placed within."
'Someone else might use Yubashiri and Shigure…' Naruto thought, biting his tongue.
He DID NOT like the idea of someone else using his blades, but he stayed quiet.
"You want us to find gear, scavenge for food, and survive." One candidate asked. "Then return here?"
"Surely," Justin Law said as he stepped up. "That is no problem, Lady Leviathan, for We, as the Chosen Candidates, can all accomplish this task."
Serafall gave Justin a thumbs up.
"I like your spirit." She declared happily. "But yes, the challenge is to find equipment, get food, and get back here within one week. If you want to give up, send up sparks with magic, like so."
Serafall demonstrated a simple application of magic that sent pink sparks like a firework toward the air.
"Are you all ready?" Sirzechs asked.
He got a nod from all of the candidates.
"Well, then lets get started. Everyone, pick an entrance." He stated.
The large group spread out, picking a gateway into the maze.
Naruto made eye contact with Guts, Kiba, Sai, and Tsubaki.
'I wish you all good luck.' He thought as he faced his entrance.
"Oh, one thing we forgot to mention." Ajuka said as the participants waited for the order to start. "There is no flight allowed. It would be unfair if any of you flew above the hedges and found your gear and the center now, wouldn't it?"
There were a few audible groans.
"Hey, now, this is supposed to be challenging, and remember…" Serafall said with a bubbly jump, causing her breasts to bounce. "We are here cheering for all of you."
Pink hearts appeared behind the cheerful Satan, boosting morale.
"Are all of you prepared?" Falbium asked, raising his hand up.
It was silent.
But the determination of all present could be felt.
"GO!"
The participants entered their gate ways, once ten feet in, the entrances closed up, sealing off the center of the maze.
Which was their collective goal.
'I could probably brute force my way through this.' Naruto thought as he touched the hedge leading to the center. 'But then… I'd be leaving Yubashiri and Shigure in here.'
He sighed, tapping his face a few times.
'Well,' Naruto thought as he turned back to face the maze path he had chosen. 'I guess I'll start by finding my blades.'
Taking a leap forward, he transformed into his full fox form, and ran through the maze.
Chapter 35, DONE!
Sorry for the over month long break. I really wanted to take my time planning the new arc. I usually write by the seat of my pants, and they usually still fall, but this time I am planning ahead.
I have 20 candidates for this arc, and I'd like at least 4 more as antagonists who are also participants for the title of Supernova. I'd like some suggestions, preferably from Naruto or One Piece, but if you have a suggestion from another anime, I'd like to know too. Thank you for your help.
