"Hello," Masato called as he leaned out the driver side window of his van. "I'm with the Lightning Lady bakery. I have a delivery for you."

The security guard checked the documentation before lifting the gate and flagging Masato to drive through. Finding a place to park, Masato began to unload the different pastries the venus had ordered. The catering staff admitted they were stretched thin and asked Masato if he could assist with setting out the baked goods. He didn't have any more deliveries for the morning so he didn't mind helping out. He was just finishing up when he heard a familiar voice.

"Masa…," The voice called, sending a chill down Masato's spine. He turned and did his best to smile at the unwelcome reunion.

"Hello father," Masato began, his mind flashing back to the last conversation with his father. Masato distinctly remembered being labeled 'ungrateful' and instructed to 'never enter this house again.' "You look well."

"And you look," Mr. Sanjouin stopped himself as he inspected his son. The contrast between the two men was prominent. Mr. Sanjouin wore a tailored suit from a high end designer. Meanwhile Msato was wearing an apron with the logo of his and Makoto's bakery over a pair of blue jeans and an old shirt with a bandana keeping his long hair in check. A scowl appeared on his father's face as he finished his inspection. "Impoverished."

"Actually my wife and I own a pretty successful bakery," Masato informed his father, crossing his arms. "You would be aware of this fact if you bothered to attend our wedding."

"When you grow older you will learn the importance of making sure to prioritize your time," Mr. Sanjouin explained to his son in a very condescending tone. "An event where I can make no business contacts or see anyone of importance is not worth my time."

"I would try to remind you how I'm your son," Masato chuckled dryly. "But you've made it clear how you're always thinking about business and nothing else. No wonder mom has been sleeping with the pool boy."

"Your mother has been what?!"

"I kinda had a feeling you weren't aware of what she has been doing," Masato commented, shaking his head. "When was the last time you two even slept in the same room together?"

"I will be speaking with your mother personally about this," Mr. Sanjouin informed his son as he straightened his tie. "That doesn't change the fact that your life choices have been poor. You're a complete disappointment."

"Thanks dad," Masato remarked, turning on his heel and heading back towards the truck. He texted Makoto he was on his way back to the bakery but didn't do anything more. He didn't even bother to turn on the radio as he drove. He parked the van behind the bakery before making his way in to see his wife.

"How did the delivery go?" Makoto asked as she heard her husband enter through the back entrance. She was so focused on the mixing box in front of her she didn't turn and notice the sour look on Masato's face.

"The delivery was fine," Masato grumbled, folding his arms. "But then I ran into my father and…"

"Oh no," Makato backed away from the mixing station, wiped her hands on the apron she was wearing, and turned to face her husband. "What did he say?"

"The usual," Masato groaned, as he lowered his eyes. He didn't want to see his wife's eyes as he informed her of the conversation with her father. "I'm a complete disappointment and I'm wasting my life. I did drop the bomb on him about my mom sleeping with the pool boy. Which…hell I don't even know if he'll do anything about it."

"I'm sorry," Makoto insisted, putting her hand on his chest. "You didn't deserve that,"

"I know," Masato agreed, but there was a distinct sigh in his voice. "I know he should be the last person to lecture others on their life choices but still, hearing my own father talk like that didn't exactly fill me with warm and fuzzy feelings."

"Oh Masa-kun," Makoto smiled, as she wrapped her arms around her husband's neck and pulled him close. "You are one of the best men I have ever met in my life. You have sacrificed so much to help my dream come true. I thank every force in the universe for bringing you back into my life."

"And I'd do it again in a second," Masato confessed, wrapping his arms around his wife and reaching down to give her a kiss on the lips. The married couple got lost in the building passion, but broke apart when they heard the bell at the entrance of their bakery ring to inform them they had a customer. "I should probably get that."

"Thanks love," Makato cooed, kissing Masato on the cheek. "How about when you get a moment you give Yoshimitsu-san a call and tell her about what happened. I'm sure she'd have some choice words about your father."

"I think I will," Masato agreed as he went to the front of the bakery he owned with Masato. A feeling of comfort swept over him as he took one more look at his wife. No matter what problem he faced she was always there to remind him as long as she was in his life they would work towards a better future together.

A/N: 4 done and 3 to go. This one fic came to me thinking back to "Power Rangers: Time Force." Specifically the scene where Wes' father discovers him working odd jobs instead of taking over the family business and expresses disappointment. Nephrite is one of the few Shitennou I mention having family waiting for them when they come back from being reborn in the Galactic Cauldron. You can check out my story "Storm of The Prodigal Son" for more of it if you haven't already.

Reviews are love and they keep me going.
