Chapter 33: A Little Family Reunion

The next morning comes at the hotel, specks of sunlight peek through partially opened curtains of the bedroom the occupants are in. Sin Saber begins to wake as a pleasant scent fills his nose while gentle breathing reaches his ears. His eyes slowly open granting him the sight of Rena's chest rising and falling as she slept, the sight of the faunus is nothing short of tempting for Sin. It dares him to run his hands along her smooth skin, to grope those mounds on her chest the gods granted Rena with. He can feel the inner urges rising within him and fights back with all he's got. He suddenly sees Rena's expression change in her sleep and her arm or leg twitching while sweat begins to form on her forehead, no doubt having a nightmare.
Realizing he needs to do something, Sin brings the faunus closer gently rubbing her back.
He said, "It's okay, Rena, it's okay. I'm here." Somehow, his voice reaches the one-eyed faunus as her breathing normalizes and her twitching stops. Her eye snaps open in post-nightmare fear.
Sin soothed, "Easy, beautiful. You're not in danger. It was just a nightmare." Rena sits up, sitting on her side of the edge of their bed to stare at the wall.
'It happened again.' Rena thought.
Sin crawled over to sit next to her, "Do you have nightmares?"
Rena replied, "Sometimes. Don't wanna talk about it."
Sin placed a hand on her shoulder, "As I said last night, you're my friend. Anytime you feel the pressure is too much, just say the word and I'll be there." A few minutes tick by and Sin enters the shower while Rena sits on the edge of the bed still.
Unknown to Sin, his words from last night cut deeper into the faunus than any blade can. Was it a mistake to open up to the human so soon? She acts differently around him and he has a similar past but was it too soon to lower her emotional walls she built up?
The unknown voice scolded, "You fool! Don't you know what you're doing? I tried to warn you but you didn't listen! That human will never love you the way you desire, he'll just see you as a friend. It's best you ended this fool-hearted relationship, it will spare you the heartbreak you have experienced far too many times."
Rena replied, "But I want friends. My teammates, the Belladonnas, my adopted father, they all see me as a normal person not a monster."
The voice retorted, "Keeping closed off saved you numerous times."
Rena said, "But it's left me lonely. What's the point of living when you don't have friends?"
Her tormentor told the faunus, "This world doesn't fucking care about your feelings. You either adapt or perish! That will never change! Besides, you'll outlive everyone else. They'll wither away and die while you remain the same. There will always be others after your and your teammates' heads. You will wander Remnant for the rest of your life. You're a survivor. Always have been, always will be. There will be those who see you as a monster. The One-Eyed Devil who has shed blood numerous times. Assassins, bounty hunters, ex-Hunters and Huntresses, they will hunt you down and you have no choice but to fight. It's the only way to survive in this line of work!"
Rena fired back, "You don't dictate my choices. You don't control my life. I am in control of my own destiny. I have a dream to fulfill!"
The voice challenged, "Let's say you achieved it, then what? What will you do?"
Rena said, "Ensure the White Fang doesn't repeat the same mistakes Sienna Khan is making. The organization was originally founded on advocating for faunus rights and end the racism my kind endures. In addition to that, stopping Adam Taurus is a priority. He wants open war on humanity, something that Sienna Khan knows won't do our kind any good. Even though what she's doing isn't any better."
The voice shot back, "You're only lying to yourself. There's no such thing as a utopia. There will always be individuals who'll never accept peace between humans and faunus. You may long live enough to see yourself become the villain. But whatever, do what you want. Don't blame me if Sin doesn't see you more than a friend in the end."
Rena scoffed, "Go fuck yourself." She gets up and heads for the bathroom, unclipping her bra followed by removing her panties, sliding them down her beautiful legs and sets both of them on the bathroom counter with her eye patch and opens the shower door, joining Sin who thankfully is unaware of her entering the bathroom nor the shower.
Sin finishes rinsing his hair of the shampoo the hotel staff provides when he feels arms wrap around his torso and two soft mounds against his back, it only takes him a second to know who it is.
Rena greeted, "Hello there. Did I come at a bad time?"
Sin replied, "N-no. I just started."
Rena offered, "Perhaps we can help each other." She turns him around, grabbing the back of the human's head and pulls him in for a kiss as her other arm reminds locked around his back, pressing his body against hers. She hears Sin moan upon contact with her body and smiles when his hands knead her posterior, rubbing the toned cheeks. Their tongues join in on the action as Sin runs a hand up and down her thigh feeling the smooth skin before it moves back up to her side. Their kiss becomes hungrier, more passionately, desperate to taste each other. They ultimately have to break for air, Rena brings Sin's face up to stare into his eyes.
Sin commented, "You're beautiful, Rena. You truly are a goddess." She kisses him again, this time it's gentle and more romantic as if guiding this moment. Sin mirrors her action softly rubbing her back and sides. Gasps of pleasure escape Rena despite the kiss. For a very brief moment, the world vanishes between them and feeling of liberation fills the two. The two break the kiss panting and staring into each other's eyes before the faunus pulls Sin in, placing his head on her chest in an embrace. Sin returns it, somehow loving it despite the fact they're both naked in the shower. They reluctantly break the hold and Rena volunteers to wash Sin's back, rubbing the bar of soap across it. She rubs every inch of the body save for his manhood, leaving that for him to do. With a teasing glare she asks if Sin can wash her back. Gulping, he retrieves the bar of soap and starts scrubbing her body while Rena's arms stay at her sides. Sin proceeds to rub the soap over her posterior then down her legs and moves back up to clean her upper back appreciating the defined muscles he's been granted to view.
He joked, "I'm certain you could military press me with ease using these muscles." A small chuckle escapes Rena, finding the human's comment amusing.
She softly ordered, "Don't stop, keep going."
Sin said, "Okay. Lift your arm."
A small smile formed on the faunus' face, "Like this?" She brings the limb up for Sin to rub the soap against. One could describe this as something straight out of a romance scene. The person washing and cleaning their partner and that partner returns the favor.
Once her right arm is clean, Sin attends to the left one scrubbing the toned limb. His arms circle her torso, with a little hesitation he washes Rena's breasts eliciting a gasp of pleasure from her at the touch. Sin continues washing/groping the soft, firm mounds, feeling the nipples harden under his caress. His hands venture down her stomach marveling at the well-defined abs every time he runs his hands over the ridges.
Sin commented again, "You have some rock-hard abs, Goddess. I could use them as a chopping board."
Rena replied, "I'd kick your ass if you did that."

Rena laughed, "I'm kidding. I know you'd never do something that would make a woman uncomfortable." Her stomach now cleaned, Sin stops moving his hands upon realizing there is one part of the faunus' body left to be washed. He feels Rena take hold of his hand with the bar of soap and brings it to her private area, releasing a moan of pleasure when it touches the bundle of nerves on her clit. Despite that, she guides Sin's hand to wash her sensitive area getting aroused with each touch. Sin can swear he felt a blood vessel burst in his head from the erotic noises coming from Rena. All of a sudden, her head snaps back clenching her teeth as she climaxed she inadvertently led herself toward. Taking a moment to catch her breath, Rena comes down from her high. Turning her head, a euphoric smile appears on her beautiful face.
She ran her hands through the curtain of black hair, "Think you can help me with this?"
Sin recovered from his state of surprise, "Of course." Setting the bar of soap down, he reaches for the shampoo and squeezes the bottle, a quarter-sized amount of shampoo falls onto his hand. He rubs his hands together and carefully rakes his fingers through Rena's pristine black hair. Rena allows herself to relax, the sensation of Sin's fingers raking along her scalp makes her forget her nightmare.
She sighed in contentment, "That feels good."
Sin said, "You have soft hair, it's like silk. No, it's softer than silk." Feeling the temperature of the water getting cold, they finish up and get out, flipping the fan switch to disperse the steam.
Rena hands Sin a towel and uses the spare one for herself, drying off her body then does her hair. Sin is having a hard time keeping his composure, feeling really tempted to turn around and see Rena in all her glory.
'What the hell's wrong with me? I know I'm not supposed to peek but she's irresistible.' He thought.
Rena called out, "Hey, Sin, can you help with this?" The humans turns around seeing Rena holding her bra in place and part her hair, pointing at the clasp.
Sin got the message, "Sure." He walks over and connects the clasp to secure the undergarment and looks down to see her wearing her panties again. He is pulled by Rena out of the bathroom and into the bedroom and opens the curtains, seeing the pre-dawn sky. Sin used that time to quickly get half dressed. He is guided to the window by the faunus then gets hugged from behind, once again feeling Rena's chest against his back and arms wrapped around his waist to hold Sin to her.
Rena said, "Ssssh, just watch." They both see the sun begin its rise over the horizon, lighting up the sky with shades of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking view.
She asked him, "Beautiful, isn't it?"
Sin agreed, "It sure is."
Rena advised, "Whoever you find in the future as your girlfriend or even wife, treat her well and with respect, maybe even spoil her."
Sin let out soft laughter, "Giving relationship advice?"
Rena slightly tightens her embrace, "Maybe. If you do that, the person will love you." They continue watching the sun slowly making its way up banishing the darkness of night until their stomachs growl. Breaking the hold, Rena puts her clothes on then her shoes. She ventures to the bathroom to retrieve her eye patch and put it on, using the mirror to check if the eye patch is set properly. Once Sin is fully dressed, they eat breakfast and return the key card to the receptionist. The two spend time engaging in small chatter while some store keepers get ready for another possible busy day. Before long, they meet up with Draco who had a grin on his face.
He asked, "Had fun?"
Sin replied, "We did. What about you and Weiss? Did you two have fun with your little date?"
Draco answered, "Like Weiss said yesterday, we just bumped into each other and her, wanting to understand the faunus better, talked with me."
A smug smile formed on Sin's face, "Is it possible that our revenge-driven dragon faunus is falling for a Schnee?"
Draco shrugged with a smug smile of his own, "She's pretty, elegant, a little rough around the edges, she's the heiress of the Dust company that treats the faunus miners like shit but she wants to change that. She has an elegant charm not seen very often." A silver blur zips past Draco and tackles Rena to the ground, the one-eyed faunus lets out an "oof" when the blur collides with her. Recovering from the sudden attack, Rena looks down to meet the wagging tail and amber eyes of Yumi.
She said, "Got ya!"
Rena nodded, "You certainly did." She gets up as Draco watches the two interact, seeing the wolf faunus acting so innocent and cheerful would brighten anyone's day. He never tells his team leader this but Rena and Yumi make an excellent couple. Between Rena's stoic nature and strength and Yumi's ability to spread joy to others make them ideal for each other. He next sees Yumi telling about her time spent with Emmara yesterday with starry eyes making him smile.
A while later, Yumi is walking down the block of a neighborhood just outside of Vale City. She soon reaches a two-story house with a properly trimmed lawn and few potted flowers dotting the sides of the front porch, to her left is a fountain. Yumi stops in front of the door and rings the doorbell. She clasps her hands behind her back while humming. The door opens up revealing a middle-aged female wolf faunus.
The woman stands around 5'5, short silver-length hair with specks of gray mixed in, a busy tail, in her mid 40s, amber eyes, slightly pale skin with some fine lines under her eyes, wolf ears, C cup breasts and toned figure. She wore blue jeans, a white shirt and socks. This is Yumi's mother, Luna Asuma.
Yumi waved at her, "Hi, Mom!"
Luna's wolf ears perked up, "Yumi?" She went up to her daughter, hugging her, "It is you! How have you been?"
Yumi returned it, "I'm fine. I wanted to see you and Dad, is he home?"
Luna nodded, turning her torso around to shout, "Hey Honey, Yumi's here!" Soon, a male wolf faunus steps into view standing around 5'10, amber eyes, slightly younger than Luna, fair skin, medium-length black hair that was graying along the temples, an X shaped scar donned his left cheek, sported a muscular build, a bushy tail and wolf ears. He wore a white tank top, black jeans shorts and was bare footed. His name is Fang Asuma, Yumi's father.
Fang's face brightened upon seeing his child, "My goodness, it's good to see you again, sweetheart." He hugs Yumi as his tail wags happily.
Luna offers her daughter to step inside while Luna heads to the kitchen for snacks. Yumi takes off her shoes and takes a seat on the chair in the living room, telling her father what her adventures have been up to now.
Fang whistled, "Sounds like you've been having fun. What happened to your ear?"
Yumi touched the near completely severed right wolf ear, "I got it while in a fight with some freaky Grimm called Wraith, an abomination humanoid in shape, arms like that of a praying mantis and demonic crab face. It was a retaliation for the murder of that Black Star terrorist Azule."
Luna said from the kitchen, "We heard about it. Some town named Iremia. You and your teammates saved it, very impressive."
Fang laughed a little, "Our daughter has become badass."
Luna scolded, "Honey!"
Fang said, "What? You know it's true."
Yumi's mother stated, "That aside, we've been watching the Vytal Tournament. Your team is killing it. Only teams from an academy can participate and your team isn't from one of the academies. Is your team an exception?"
Yumi answered, "Something like that. The headmaster of Beacon Academy, Ozpin said we'll have to participate until he corrects the issue."
Fang tilted his head in curiosity, "Why? So far, your team has this tournament in the bag."
Yumi said, "Have to beat the Singles round first."
Her father gave a thumbs-up, "I'm certain you will pull through. Make us proud."
Yumi giggled, "I will. I'll make my teammates proud, too."
Fang smiled, "You love them, don't you?"
The younger wolf faunus nodded, "Sure do. They're like the siblings I never had. They mean a lot to me." They spend the next few hours talking and eating until Yumi feels it's time to leave. After putting her shoes back on, Yumi exchanges hugs with her parents before bidding them good-bye and leaves the house.
While the wolf faunus ventures through Vale City, her mind wanders to the day she met her team leader.
Flashback 4 years ago
A then 12-year-old Yumi was walking through Vale City, reflecting on what they heard on the Vale News Network about a faunus trio spotted not too far from the kingdom of Vale. They weren't attacking citizens and seemed to be focused on taking out Grimm and wanted criminals deemed too dangerous to be held in prison or were once Hunters and Huntresses that turned rogue. Reaching the shopping district, the wolf faunus family entered the grocery store to restock their fridge with food. Once they purchased what they needed, the family exited the grocery store and started heading home when Fang spotted one of them.
It was a young faunus woman standing around 6'3" tall, long, straight black hair that reached her mid-back, an eye patch over where her left eye would be and her right eye a captivating red, fair skin tone and wore blue plated armor, black leggings, dark brown boots and strapped to her back was a claymore.
Yumi looked at the armored faunus, enamored by her beauty. It's like some fairy tale came to life for the wolf faunus. When the mysterious warrior brought her gaze to Yumi, the wolf faunus froze under her intense stare like she's evaluating Yumi.
The faunus woman returned her gaze to Yumi's father, "My name is Rena Schwartz, I'm a mercenary. Your daughter shows immense potential with you and your wife's permission, I wish to enlist her into the team I'm forming."
Fang asked her, "What kind of work do you do?"
Rena explained, "We hunt down wanted criminals, ex-Hunters and Huntresses, human or faunus, purging towns of Grimm for money. But my teammates and I have lines we won't cross. We don't pillage towns for resources, nor do we kidnap people for ransom."
Luna said, "We need to talk it over."
Rena nodded, "Of course. The final decision is completely up to you." She watched them start heading back to their home when Luna noticed Rena standing still.
Luna asked, "Why are you standing there?"
The one-eyed faunus replied, "I'm letting you two decide over my offer without me disturbing you."
Luna queried, "Where are you staying?"
Rena said, "My teammates and I are staying at a hotel for the night." At Luna's request she followed the Asuma family to their home.
While Yumi played with Rena, her parents debated on Rena's offer.
Luna questioned, "But how can we be certain that Rena won't harm our daughter?"
Fang replied, "If she wasn't interested in Yumi, I feel she wouldn't have bothered crossing paths with us. Rena's a battle-tested faunus. She's been through fire, Luna. Forged by it and came out stronger than ever. She has experienced things we can barely imagine. I'm confident Rena will keep Yumi safe."
Luna stated with concern, "She's our only daughter, dear. I don't want to lose her."
Fang pulled his wife into a comforting hug, "I know, honey. I need you to trust me." He tightened his embrace a bit, "We've been married for over ten years, and I haven't steered you wrong yet. I have no regrets marrying you or having Yumi. Tell you what, how about we let Yumi decide for herself?"
Luna nodded, "Okay." The two older wolf faunus walked over to their daughter and Rena, the noise alerting the two.
Yumi asked innocently, "What's up?"
Fang said, "Your mom and I have been debating about our guest's offer and we felt we'd let you decide. It's up to you if you want to accept or not." Yumi donned a cute thinking pose as she weighed her options. If she accepted Rena's offer, Yumi would go on adventures and earn money. If she refused, she'd remain her in Vale City with her parents until she was old enough to live on her own.
She told them her answer, "I want to go with Rena. She's brave and will keep me safe." Swallowing the lump in her throat, Luna accepted her daughter's decision.
Rena spent the next few hours getting to know the Asuma family until it was time for Rena to return to the hotel, letting Yumi spend the night with her parents and return tomorrow.
The next day came and Yumi shared one final hug with her parents and Fang informed Rena his daughter suffered memory lapses due to a head injury she sustained recently and will forget what's happening at complete random. Thanking him for the information, Rena departed with Yumi. Fang rubbed his wife's shoulder in a reassuring manner.
Rena introduced Yumi to her two future teammates, Draco Lance, a dragon faunus and Xavier Stone, an ox faunus. Thus, the formation of Team RXDY was now complete.
As they traveled, the other three faunus members found themselves enjoying Yumi's company. Her innocence and ability to spread joy was infectious, in a good way. Whenever one of them was having a hard time, Yumi was there to cheer them up. She became the optimistic sibling of the group. Her positive attitude even affected her team leader, who she developed a deep admiration for Rena, seeing the one-eyed faunus as the strongest person she met. Whenever Yumi felt afraid or suffered a memory lapse, Rena was there for her.
Every now and then, the wolf faunus would give her teammates a hug or a head-pet. She wasn't afraid to show her affection to her teammates. Whenever they slept, Yumi always seemed to sleep with her team leader, going as far as snuggling up to her.
End of flashback
Yumi smiles at the fond memory until she finds her team leader waiting for her, a beaming smile forms on Yumi's face and she rushes over, jumping into Rena's waiting arms and nuzzling her cheek against Rena's and her tail wagging in content.
Rena places her down and they walk toward the park, sitting down and taking in the peaceful scenery. Seeing her team leader sitting there gives Yumi an idea.
She crawls up behind Rena and wraps her arms underneath the spikes on Rena's breastplate and resting her chin on the armored faunus' shoulder.
Yumi said, "I'm glad to have met you, Rena. I really mean that. You're always there for me, aiding me, giving advice or comforting me whenever I felt scared or suffered a memory lapse. Being around you, Draco and Xavier make me very happy. One of the best things to have ever happened to me. Remember when I said you don't have to shoulder everything on your own, you can always turn to me, Draco and Xavier if you just need to vent. I'll be your light. If you find yourself falling into darkness, I'll be there to pull you back towards the light. I want to be there when peace between humans and faunus is fully realized."
A small laugh escaped Rena, "You're a cinnamon bun, you know that?" She turns her head to look at her teammate.
Yumi flashed her a cheeky smile, "Would you want me any other way?"
Rena said, "I can imagine a few." She tapped her thighs, "Come here, Yumi. Sit on my lap." With pink hued cheeks and bright smile, the wolf faunus does so. Yumi's light banishes the darkness surrounding her team leader's heart. That warmth increases for the wolf faunus when Rena's arms circle Yumi's waist, holding her close. Yumi's tail taps against the older faunus' thigh showing how happy she is. To anyone passing by the two would look like a young couple in love with each other. Somewhere in Yumi's mind she wants it to be that. The next few hours are spent just sitting there, enjoying each other's company. They head back to their dorm after having dinner with their male teammates. Rena, Yumi and Draco sit on the couch while Xavier draws.
Yumi stares at her team leader bare of her armor then looks back on the moment Rena held her. She feels the need to return the favor.
She patted her thighs, "Hey Rena, come here, lay your head on my lap." Curious, the older faunus did as Yumi smiled down at her, "I always wanted to do this. The infamous lap pillow I read in books when I was a little girl." She glides her hand along Rena's hair, earning a soft hum from her.
Yumi asked, "Comfy?"
Rena nodded, "Yes, very." A giggle escapes Yumi, glad to hear it.
Seeing this as the perfect opportunity, Xavier starts a sketch involving his team leader laying her head on Yumi's lap while the latter caresses her black hair, taking occasional glances to make sure he's getting the proportions right. 10 minutes the later, the sketch is complete, shaded and properly shadowed. Xavier nods to himself, probably his best sketch yet.
A bit later, the team retires to bed and Yumi cuddles with Rena feeling safe with her after Rena removes her short-sleeve shirt and black leggings. She wraps her arm around Rena's back, pulling the older faunus to her. Yumi rubs Rena's black hair again loving the silky texture against her fingers. She notices her team leader out cold save for the gentle breathing. Seeing her chance, Yumi kisses Rena's forehead earning her a smile from the sleeping one-eyed faunus. She feels the temptation to remove her team leader's bra and see her breasts in their full glory but rejects the idea. Instead, Yumi lays on her back and brings Rena's head to her chest inadvertently causing her to snuggle into Yumi's chest, the wolf faunus covers her mouth to block the yelp of surprise that escaped her after feeling Rena's cheek brush against her smaller bust. Recovering from the sudden action, Yumi smiles and Rena unconsciously wraps an arm around the wolf faunus, pulling herself closer. A blush covers Yumi's cheeks but the younger faunus cherishes this feeling of holding the person she considers her guardian angel close.
A/N: Chapter 33 done.
Not much action takes in this chapter, just focused on Yumi meeting her parents, her flashback to meeting Rena and her thoughts of her team leader.
