Chapter 34: The Dragon and Blonde Brawler
Disclaimer: RWBY belongs to Rooster Teeth and Monty Oum, I only own my OCs.
Team RXDY
The next day comes, and Draco sits in Beacon's courtyard doing maintenance on his ax shotgun. He removes the rotating Dust chamber, checking the slots for contaminants. When he finds none, Draco cleans the slots and reattaches the Dust chamber to Perses. He next cleans the barrel followed by the ax blades. Once the maintenance is done, Draco stares at the morning sky. Last night he had a dream of what his life could've been had Salem not destroyed his kingdom. In it, he built his own construction company and was happily married. His wife worked for a flower business. The two were deeply in love with each other. One day, his wife announced she was pregnant making Draco lift her up and spin her around. Unfortunately, that happy moment vanished when he woke up.
Draco wonders what his parents would think of him going down this path of vengeance. In all likelihood they'd tell him this isn't the way, that whatever satisfaction he'd get from this revenge will only be temporary.
The dragon faunus lowers his head, teeth clenched as tears run down his face. He missed his parents every day, they were taken from him by the Grimm. Draco has contemplated suicide on multiple occasions. End it all. But in some twisted sense of justification, he'd rob himself of the satisfaction of tearing Salem's flesh with his claws. He tries to calm himself down but the tears only increase the more he thinks about his people and home. His hands tremble causing him to drop Perses. He covers his face as he suffers another PTSD episode.
'It's not fair. My people didn't do anything wrong. They didn't deserve to be exterminated. Mom, Dad, come back! I need you!' Draco thought as he continues crying.
At that moment he finds himself alone like he did eleven years ago. He clenches his teeth to stop himself from screaming in anguish due to the emotional pain. It's not easy overcoming the loss of loved ones let alone an entire species. When that happens, it's like the survivor lost a part of themselves.
After a few minutes, his PTSD episode ends. He strangely feels a little better after the crying. Wiping his eyes, Draco picks up his weapon and stands. Strapping it to his back he wanders Beacon ground until he bumps into Yang.
The blonde greeted, "Hey Draco, how it's going?"
Draco responded, "Not much. Yourself?"
Yang smiled, "Just chilling with the team."
The dragon faunus scratched the back of his head, "Are you busy at all today?"
The blonde-haired girl said, "Nope. Why do you ask?"
Draco closed his eyes briefly to steel himself before asking, "I was wondering if we can hang out today. I don't have anything else to do. Besides, the bracket for the Singles rounds are still being tallied."
A small giggled escaped, "I heard you went on a date with the Ice Queen. Is it true?"
The dragon faunus replied, "Why does everyone think of it that way? We just bumped into each other and we talked. I bought both of us a cream crepe and handed one to her. Nothing romantic happened."
Yang laughed, "Whatever you say, Draco. But to answer your question, we can hang out." The duo venture into town after Yang tells her teammates of what she's doing. They see various stores bustling with tourists or residents.
Draco asked, "Enjoying kicking ass in the tournament?"
The blonde-haired girl grinned, "You bet I am! I'm going to represent my team in the Singles round and make Beacon proud."
Draco smiled, "You're confident. One thing I believe you should work on is your fighting mentality."
Yang asked, "What about it? It gets the job done."
Draco explained, "You get provoked too easily. You think strength is everything when in fact it's not. Unless you learn how to plan tactfully, it will get you killed. There are Grimm that aren't in the books, Yang. You need to adapt or perish, especially in the life of a Huntress."
Yang waved it off, "I'll be fine."
The dragon faunus said, "I'm offering you advice. It'll save your life." He felt someone staring at them and turned his head toward that person, "What are you looking at? You got a problem with humans and faunus interacting?"
The human diverts his gaze.
Draco said, "Didn't think so." The two continue walking until a boy no older than 5 walks up to him holding up a book for Draco to sign. The kid's parents catch up and apologizes to Draco for their son's action, the dragon faunus waves it off. The kid tells Draco he's been watching the Vytal Tournament and thinks the dragon faunus looks cool. Draco chuckles at the boy's energetic statement and decides to sign his book, the father gives a pen he has on him for Draco to use. Thanking the man, the dragon faunus uses it to sign the kid's book. Once that's done, he returns the pen and the family bid the duo farewell. Draco stares at their retreating forms longer memories of his childhood play through his mind. Briefly shaking his head, he focuses on enjoying the time he's having with Yang.
The two head for the arcade and the first one they go to is a fighting game. Safe to say, Yang won without difficulty thanks to her experience with video games, Draco issues a rematch with the same outcome. He comes closer the third time around, but Yang still won. They next play a first-person shooting game that Draco excels being a pretty skilled marksman. A side grin appears on Draco's when they complete the story line, first bumping with Yang. They enter their name initials at the high score board. The two continue their fun playing whatever game that catches their attention until they feel it's time to head out. Following lunch, the two wander around Vale City for anything else that catches their eye.
Draco directed his gaze toward Yang's hair, "Has anyone complimented on your hair?"
Yang replied, "Every now and then."
Draco said next, "It's obvious you're very protective of your hair."
Yang flashed him a side grin, "Cut my hair, you're dead."
Draco complimented, "Besides that, you are an extremely beautiful girl, Yang. I can see you pursuing a modeling career or even mixed martial arts."
The blonde-haired brawler placed a hand on her hip, "Are you flirting with me?"
Draco wiggled his eyebrows, "And what if I am?"
A giggle escaped Yang, "I like you, Draco. Beneath that revenge-driven exterior is a laid-back person."
Draco said, "The same can be same for you. When not in battle, you're a party goer. You're an adventure type. I feel anyone would be lucky to have you as their girlfriend and perhaps one day their wife."
Yang laughed, "Now you're just flattering me."
The dragon faunus replied, "No, I'm telling the truth."
A coy expression appeared on the brawler's face, "Who knows? Maybe you could be that person and you could Yang me."
A laughter escaped Drago's throat, "Pfft, your puns suck. You really need to work on them, Yang. By the way, you have beautiful eyes, semblance active or not." Yang's heart skipped a beat at that. Her cheeks gain a pink hue when Draco comes closer, gazing into her eyes. Yang finds herself lost in Draco's yellow eyes, the pull is nowhere near as intense as his team leader, but it was effective in its own way. In one quick movement, Draco's arm circles Yang's waist pulling her flush against him. Her entire body freezes up not expecting the bold move. A nice scent enters the dragon faunus' nose.
He stated, "Your hair smells nice. What shampoo do you use?"
Yang actually stuttered, "L-lavender."
Draco smirked, "You take good care of your hair. I can imagine it feeling like silk."
Yang said, "W-well, a girl needs to look her best." Hearing the blonde brawler stuttering like this is actually cute in Draco's opinion. Yang is certainly an extremely attractive girl as evident by the pair of mounds pressing against his clothed chest. If he had to venture a guess, he'd place Yang's breasts somewhere in the E cup range not that he's gonna voice that out loud. A mischievous grin forms on his face and starts tickling Yang's waist earning him uncontrollable laughter from the girl.
She voiced, "Pfft, Draco, stop! Stop, that tickles, stop! I'm ticklish there!"
Draco grinned, "You didn't say the magic word."
Yang struggled to say through her laughter, "P-please, s-stop tickling me! I give! I give!" Draco ends his tickle assault causing Yang to collapse to the ground her body twitching and small laughs escape her while she recovers. She stands up again.
A smug look formed on Draco's face, "Who knew I could reduce the powerhouse of Team RWBY to a giggling mess."
Yang returned it with a challenging grin, "I'll make you pay for that somehow; you'll see."
Draco answered back, "I look forward to that day." The sun starts setting by the time they return to Beacon Academy.
Yang said, "I quite enjoyed our day out, Draco. We should do it again sometime."
Draco nodded, "Indeed we should. Perhaps when your or my team wins the Vytal Tournament, I'll take you somewhere nice to eat." He adds a wink.
Yang slammed her fists together, "Team RWBY will win this year's tournament, you can count on that."
Draco chuckled, "That remains to be seen. Go on, your teammates are probably waiting for you in the dorm room."
Yang gave him a two-fingered salute along with a wink, "See you around." Draco watches her walk toward the dorm hall entrance before heading back to his team's dorm.
The blonde-haired brawler enters her team's dorm room, seeing her teammates standing there.
She asked, "What?"
Weiss queried, "Where were you? We've been trying to call you!"
Yang said, "Relax, Ice Queen. I was just having a fun day with Draco."
Ruby tilted her head, "That dragon faunus?"
Her older half-sister nodded, "The very one. He's an interesting fella." Her mind briefly flashes back to his flirting attempts and tickle assault on her.
A look of amusement formed on Blake's face, "Is it possible you're developing an interest in Draco, Yang?"
Yang shrugged, "It's too early to tell. Why? Are you jealous, Blake?"
The cat faunus shook her head, "Not at all. Based on what you're saying and if my older sister Rena trusts him, then Draco must be a nice guy."
Yang flashed a teasing look, "Why don't you ask our residential Ice Queen of her time with Draco."
Weiss blushed bright red, "Quit calling me that! Draco and I ran into each other by coincidence."
Yang said, "Coincidence? I THINK NOT!"
Weiss groaned, "You're so annoying sometimes, you know that?"
Her teammate replied, "You still love me, though."
Weiss shook her head, "You're a handful. Sometimes I wonder how you even got into Beacon Academy. You're more brawn than brains." Draco returns to his team's guest dorm to see his teammates lounging about except Rena, she's busy doing maintenance on Scarlet applying oil to the blade before using a special cloth to rub the oil in.
Without looking, she asked, "Enjoyed your day out?"
Draco said, "I did. Hung out with Yang. She's hot, I'll admit that."
Xavier commented from his position on the couch, "You plan on claiming her for yourself?" Draco hears a teasing tone in the ox faunus' voice.
Draco replied, "Does it matter? Only time will tell." Although he certainly won't mind if they became a couple, he didn't voice it but Draco can tell the blonde-haired girl is using that facade to hide something emotional.
That night, the team retires to bed and Draco doesn't have nightmares either.
Y/N: Chapter 34 done.
